On December 24th, Christmas Eve all students third year and above will be required to attend to a Christmas Eve Ball held in the Great Hall of Hogwarts from 6:00-12:00 formal attire is required and partners are not though they are recommended dinner will be served at the ball.

Hermione read the notice over a few times. Wow. She thought. A Christmas Eve Ball. Besides the Yule Ball -which had been ruined by Ronald among many other things- Hermione had never been to a ball before. I hope I get asked by someone nice. Hermione thought. If anyone at all.

I need to go dress shopping. The thought come to her suddenly along with the excitement of getting something new. Then the sadness hit her. Usually she would go shopping with Ginny.

She suddenly realized that other than Tom she didn't really have any friends.

With that she left the Slytherin common room to go make some friends. All of the Slytherin girls hated her because she was friends with Tom. Gryffindor first she thought then Ravenclaw. And with that she set out towards the great hall.
