"Stay with my Sam. We're almost there," I heard the panic in his voice. "Lawrence!" He screamed over and over again.

My eyes were so heavy and his body so warm, I cuddled closer to his heat and familiar scent. I must have dozed off again because the next thing I knew I was surrounded by frantic voices, one second my head seemed to be bouncing and the next I heard the hum of the car as the tires flew over asphalt.

"No. Sway as at Bosje's. Go straight there." I knew that voice. God why was I so tired and why couldn't I open my damn eyes? "You're safe Sam. Try not to move." It was Lawrence and he sounded scared.

"I swear Samantha you will be the death of me. My old heart can't take this." That was Jack. A little more awake now, the fog lifting off my brain. But damn I was tired. "No. No. No. You will not fall asleep. Come on Sam open those eyes for me. Look at me now!" Of course that was Jack. Giving me orders. Again.

"Lawrence...please...cold...tired...sleep...please" Couldn't they see my teeth were chattering? Why couldn't they all shut up and pass me a blanket so I could sleep?

"More pressure...Another blanket...Dammit drive faster!" People were frantically yelling.

"I'm so sorry Sam but this is going to hurt," Jack said between all the shouts.

I waited for the pain but none came. Confused but too tired to care. "No pain...just tired...everyone...shut...up." That did the trick. No one said another word. The only noise I heard was the SUV's engine revving even higher and tires squealing around a corner.

I must have dozed off again because the next thing I knew I was at Dr. Bosji's on one of the hospital cots. Both doctors were standing over me, expressions bleak. In the background I could make out a steady drip and beeping.

"Hey. You're supposed to be sleeping. How are you feeling" One of them asked.

Blinking a couple times I noticed Dr. Sway smiling down at me so it was him I spoke to. "I'm tired. Is Lawrence still mad at me? Going back to sleep now." Before I completely closed my eyes I caught a glimpse of his smile slip into something else.
