The Saltwater Room {Madeline Frank X April Whittaker} (Madril)

First off, this takes place in the Pokémon universe so keep that in mind. Also, Madeline Frank IS my character but April Whittaker belongs to BlockArtist and he's a dude even though April's a girl name. Also, this doesn't do this couple justice because they are extremely adorable and my writing sucks but hopefully this songfic is at least okay. Also, here's hoping I got April at least somewhat right. It's quite difficult writing as different people's OCs, but I at least gave it a go.

Anyway, I'll stop rambling and get on with the songfic. This song is one of my all-time favorite songs so I wanted to use it for something that I thought really deserved it. And Madril definitely deserves it!

Smut warning by the way! Hopefully I don't fail miserably at it like I did that one time...

~~~~~
I opened my eyes last night, and saw you in the low light.
Walking down by the bay, on the shore, staring up at the stars that aren't there anymore.
Madeline Frank and April Whittaker are the definition of an odd couple.
Madeline grew up without a father figure. She also grew up with a verbally and physically abusive mother. When Madeline turned ten years old, she was, just like any other ten year old, excited to go on her journey in her home region Sinnoh. No one knew about how Madeline's mother treated her behind closed doors. No one knew about the bruises she would leave all over her daughter's body because Madeline always hid them. No one knew about the terrible things that were said to Madeline because she kept them to herself.
When Madeline became the Sinnoh champion on her eleventh birthday, she was hoping to finally gain the approval of her mother. But the then young girl got the exact opposite of approval. After returning home from her journey, Madeline came home to a mother who wasn't proud and was the same woman that she was when Madeline left home a year before.
This was the day that the entire course of Madeline Frank's life was changed forever.
Angry about a fight that she had gotten into with Madeline's father, the abusive mother thought that taking out all of her anger on the only child that she had was the right way to go. She shoved Madeline hard enough into a wall that it cut her skull open. Madeline's mother was able to convince everyone that her daughter had taken a hard fall down the stairs by making it look as if that that was what truly had happened. Even though Madeline was able to survive the hit to the wall, she didn't go unscathed. From that day on, she struggled severely with memory. It was very difficult for her to remember things on a long-term basis and it was a mystery whether she would recognize people she had already met when a new day came about or not. But Madeline's memory wasn't the only thing that was affected. She barely grew after the accident happened and now, at twenty years old, she only stands at four feet  and nine inches. She hasn't been on another Pokemon journey in nine years and doesn't even remember that she went on one at all. She still lives with her mother because she made her live with her when the two of them move from Twinleaf Town in Sinnoh to Lumiose City in Kalos. Before she left, Madeline's best friend Chris gave her a silver-furred Eevee which Madeline later named Sparkle in hopes that she wouldn't forget him. To this day, Madeline's mother still remains abusive to the twenty year old and Madeline is much too afraid to run away because she is afraid what her mother will do to her if and when she ever managed to find her.
On the other hand, April Whittaker was born into a rich family and was raised with one as well. Even though April's parents weren't abusive towards him or each other, they did get into fights and when they did, it was quite nasty. After an incident that occurred involving a then ten year old April and a sexual assault that April's father didn't want getting out, the then young boy's father ended up getting so angry at his mother and pushing her down the stairs. That was the last straw for April's mother and she left him and her son. Since that day, April has not seen his mother and he never tried to find her since he wasn't the type to really dwell on things. Plus, why should he even worry about her whereabouts? The now seventeen year old figured that dwelling on someone he hasn't seen for seven years would just get him down. He figured that life was much too short to be sad so he should just try and be happy as much as possible.
Little did these two know, the day that they met would be both the best and worst thing that happened to them.
I was feeling the night grow old and you were looking so cold.
So like an introvert, I drew my over shirt
Around my arms and begin to shiver violently.
"Wow, this place is nothing back home." Madeline was walking around Lumiose City holding Sparkle the silver-furred Eevee in her arms. She stopped in her tracks upon seeing Prism Tower. "Woah, look at that! It's so tall! Let's go and get a closer look!"
The short twenty year old began running towards the tall structure. Once she was at what she thought was a close enough view, Sparkle ended up slipping out of the grip that Madeline had on her and running off.
"Sparkle!" Madeline called as she chased after the Eevee. "You know better than to just run off like that! Get back here right now!"
As she was chasing after her Eevee, Madeline almost ran into a tall and dark-skinned figure with curly black hair dressed in a leather jacket, black jeans, and black sneakers. When he turned around, he was holding Sparkle in his arms.
"Is this your Eevee?"
"Y-yeah." Madeline took back Sparkle from the boy. She had to really tilt her head back to look directly at him since he towered over him. She could probably past as his little sister due to their height differences. "T-thanks for catching her. S-she's always running off." She scolded herself in her head for stuttering so much.
"Hey, no problem." The boy shrugged and a Kirlia revealed itself from behind his shoulder. "Oh, I should probably introduce myself. The name's April. April Whittaker."
"H-hey, April's my middle name." Shut up, he doesn't care.
A smile formed on April's face. "Cool. That kinda means that we're both named April, huh?"
"I g-guess so." Madeline immediately realized that she should probably introduce herself to him as well. "M-my name's Madeline. Madeline Frank. B-but since I told you my middle name, my full-name's Madeline April Frank."
The smile didn't leave April's face. "I won't forget that name."
Madeline's eyes widened as she remembered what her mother had told her. She had told her that she wasn't allowed to make friends. She had to get out of the current situation that she was in and she had to do it fast. She also wished that she could promise April that she wouldn't forget his name but she knew that she couldn't.
"Hey, I gotta get going." Madeline began running back to her house. "Thanks for getting my Eevee for me!" She called before picking up her speed and racing back home.
"Wait!" She heard April call. "We didn't even get to talk for that long!"
Madeline didn't call back to him. She wanted to, but she knew that she couldn't do anything that put her at risk when it came to her mother.
Before you happened to look and see the tunnels all around me.
Running into the dark underground.
All the subways around create a great sound.
"Were you out there talking with someone?" Madeline's heart leapt into her throat upon hearing her mother's angry and condescending tone. Upon hearing it, Sparkle ran upstairs to Madeline's room. "What did I tell you when we moved here?"
"Not to make friends." Madeline's voice was quiet and she was forcing herself not to stutter.
"Right." She still sounded angry. "So why were you talking to that boy out there? I wouldn't be as angry at you if it wasn't a girl. I don't want him being your boyfriend, let alone your friend. That's the last thing that you need."
"I'm sorry Mom." Madeline made eye contact with her mother. "It won't happen again, I promise."
"It better not." She scoffed. She punched Madeline's left eye and Madeline held back tears knowing that she would have a black eye later and be unable to hide it. "That's to really make sure that it doesn't happen."
"Okay." Madeline's voice cracked as she went upstairs to her room. She closed the door behind her and broke down crying on the floor. Sparkle went over to the crying girl and laid down in her lap. She immediately felt Madeline's arms wrap around her into a tight hug.
*****
To my motion fatigue, farewell, with you ear to a seashell.
You can hear the waves in underwater caves as if you actually were inside a saltwater room.
There wasn't just a first encounter with Madeline and April.
There were several.
Over the course of these several encounters that they shared, they really got to know each other. Madeline finally opened up about her mother's treatment towards her and April convinced her to run away with him so that she didn't have to endure the abuse anymore. He was shocked to find that Madeline was twenty. He had thought that she was at least thirteen or maybe younger due to her height and the way that she acted. But he didn't treat her any differently. She was probably the kindest girl that he had ever met and he found that, over time, he had grown to like her light black hair and how it rested just below her shoulders. He also liked her brown eyes and how they lit up whenever she smiled. He also got a different feeling whenever he was around her. He found that his natural confidence faded and was careful about the things that he said to her since he didn't want to hurt her. She had already been hurt so much over the course of her life and even more heartache was the last thing that she needed.
"It feels good to be back home." Madeline was staring up at the stars while sitting on the roof of her old house. "I was kinda missing it after a while."
"Yeah?" April found himself noticing just how close Madeline was to him. He could easily grab ahold of her hand and hold it tightly or he could wrap his arm around her and she could rest her head on his shoulder. But he found that he was lost staring at her. The way that the moonlight enhanced her features made him unable to look away. Her pale skin shone brightly and her eyes shone when she looked up at him.
Why on earth did she give him this feeling? He had been with so many girls in the past. Hell, he had had sex with some of them and even then they didn't give him the feeling that he was feeling right now as he looked at the girl that was sitting next to him.
Was it love? No, it couldn't be love.
Could it?
No, it just had to be love. Love was something that April was foreign to and he knew how he was feeling almost instantly except for how he was feeling right now.
He loved Madeline, a girl three years older than him.
He loved Madeline, a girl with severe memory problems who has somehow managed not to forget him.
He loved Madeline, a girl whose been beaten and told that she wasn't good enough.
He loved Madeline April Frank, the girl sitting right next to him.
"Madeline..." April couldn't find the words that expressed how hard he had fallen for the girl that he's only known for about a month so he pressed his lips against hers and hoped that it was at least somewhat close to how much he loved her and cared for her.
Time together isn't ever quite enough.
When you and I are alone, I've never felt so at home.
"I love you." April found that he didn't want the kiss to end. He yearned to feel her sweet taste against his lips once more. "I know that we haven't known each other for very long but for some unknown reason, I have fallen head over heels for you."
Madeline smiled and hugged him tightly. "I love you too. I didn't want to tell you because I thought that you didn't love me back. I didn't think that you could love me back."
April forced the black-haired and brown-eyed girl to look at him. "Madeline, there is nothing to not love about you. You're sweet, kind, funny, cute, and beautiful. I didn't realize it at the time, but you were the best thing that's ever happened to me. Everything in my life that's happened was all leading me to you."
Madeline kept smiling but she suddenly became shy. "Can you kiss me again? I loved the feeling that it gave me."
"Of course." April closed his eyes and pressed his lips against hers once more. He felt Madeline's arms wrap around his neck and he immediately wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her as close as she could possibly get to him.
"April, I want you to promise me something."
"What is it?"
"If I ever forget you and you can't get me to remember you, I want you to just like shoot me or something." Madeline's tone was very serious as she spoke. "If I forget you, I couldn't ever truly be happy again."
April didn't think that Madeline would ever forget him because he was going to try his very damn best to make sure that she never forgot him. "I promise." The words slipped out without a second thought.
What will it take to make or break this hint of love?
Only time, only time.
(Smut incoming. Don't say that I didn't warn you. Skip this part if you don't to read smut.)
Can you believe that the crew has gone and wouldn't let me sign on?
All my islands have sunk in the deep, and I can hardly relax or even oversleep.
"People keep staring at us together." Madeline was laying with April in one of the rooms of one of the many hotels that his father owned. Sparkle and April's Pokemon laid together in a corner of the room, sleeping soundly. They were back in Kalos because April wanted to collect all of the gym badges there. They were currently in Snowpoint City and April was going for the eighth and final badge the next morning. Madeline had decided against going for all of Kalos' badges since they didn't really matter to her. All that really mattered to her was that she got to travel around the world with April, whom not only she cared about, but who cared about her as well. "I keep hearing them whisper things too."
"Madeline, you shouldn't care about any of that." April gently squeezed her shoulder. "I love you regardless of what anyone thinks about us. Besides, they don't know about us. They don't know what we've been through together. They have no right to look at us funny or say the things that they're saying."
"Yeah, I guess you're right." Madeline blinked as she listened to April's steady heartbeat. She sighed. "I'm so scared that I'm going to wake up and forget about you."
April moved a piece of hair behind her ear and moved her head so that she was looking directly at him. "Why do you think that I keep doing so many things for you? I don't want you to forget about me either so I make sure that I'm constantly doing stuff so that as your memory wipes away past events, it has present and possibly future events to process so that you can always know who I am and always know that I love you and that you are my world."
But I feel warm with your hand, in mine, when we walk along the shoreline.
I guess we'll never know why sparrows love the snow.
We'll turn off the lights set this ballroom aglow.
"I'm going to make this night really unforgettable." April kissed Madeline deeply and ran his hand up her shirt. When he needed a breath, he slipped office own shirt and threw it on the floor. "Just let me lead. You'll be just fine." Madeline was silent as he also removed her shirt and threw it down on the floor next to his. He looked down and saw that she didn't exactly have the biggest bust around. In fact, her bust size was quite small but April didn't mind. He still thought that Madeline was beautiful and he thought that her personality mattered more than her appearance did.
"I probably should've warned you that that what's underneath isn't exactly beautiful."
"Stop with that kind of talk." April quickly kissed her forehead. "Your mother has torn you down. Let me build you back up."
April slowly and gently kissed her neck as he unbuttoned and unzipped her jeans. He helped her slip them off and placed them down on the floor.
"You really are beautiful." April whispered in hear ear. "Please don't tell yourself or let anyone tell you otherwise."
So tell me, darling, do you wish we'd fall in love?
Yeah, all the time, all the time.
Madeline smiled for a brief moment before it faded. "April, I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to this. I've never done this before."
"It's okay." April gently stroked her cheek. "I know what to do. Just follow me and you'll be just fine."
"Okay..." Madeline was still reluctant as April removed her bra with one hand in one swift motion. He placed it down on the ground with the rest of their clothes.
Time together isn't ever quite enough.
When you and I are alone, I've never felt so at home.
April didn't say anything as he kissed Madeline, laying her down on her back so that he was the one who was on top. He heard and felt his heart pounding in his chest as he quickly kissed her cheek before drawing in a breath. He stared at her bare chest as he slowly removed her panties. His eyes studied her carefully and he noted everything that he found beautiful about her form, which there were quite a few things that he found beautiful about it.
What will it take to make or break this hint of love?
Only time, only time.
April removed his boxers and added them to the pile of clothes that were already on the floor. Before he did anything else, he opened the drawer of the bedside table and took out a condom. He always kept them around in case he ever found himself in a situation like the one he was in right now. The last thing that April wanted was to become a father at seventeen. He knew that he wasn't ready for that quite yet and he wanted to take all the necessary precautions so that he could avoid becoming a teenage father.
When we're apart, what are you thinking of?
If this is what I call home, why does it feel so alone?
Almost as soon as April had put on the condom, he inserted himself inside of Madeline. She let out a surprise gasp but a smile quickly formed on her face.
"See? You're doing just fine." April planted a kiss on her forehead as he put a blanket over the two of them. He was still inside of Madeline as he laid down next to her. "I'm really enjoying this. Are you?"
She nodded. "I was always told that your first time is really awkward."
"It depends on the person." April shrugged. "Usually if you put two virgins together then yeah, it's most likely going to be pretty awkward because you have two people who probably don't know what they're doing. But I'm not a virgin so I know what to do." He quickly added, "But don't worry about the fact that I didn't lose my virginity to you. You're the only girl who has and will ever have my heart."
"I love you." Madeline whispered as she quickly kissed his neck. "I love you with all of my heart."
"Me too Madeline." April ran his fingers through her hair. "Me too."
(Smut ends here.)
*****
So tell me darling, do you wish we'd fall in love?
All the time, all the time.
"This is where we first met." April showed Madeline Prism Tower, which was brightly illuminated due to the fact that it was nighttime. "It's also where we got married. But anyway, your Eevee ran off and I caught her for you. I gave her back to you and we told each other our names. We didn't really learn much about each other the first time we talked because you ran off. Wanna know why you ran off?"
"Why?" Madeline was curious. The man that guiding her around claimed that he was her husband, even though she couldn't recall ever knowing him.
"Because you were afraid of your mother." April then led her to a grand hotel. "She was very abusive towards you and I convinced you to run away with me so that she couldn't hurt you anymore."
Madeline didn't say a word. She just tried to remember these events ever occurring as she stared at the hotel.
"This is where we stayed the night together for the first time." April smiled at her. "It's also where we, well, made love to each other for the first time."
Time together isn't ever quite enough.
When we're apart, whatever are you thinking of?
"We made love?" Madeline couldn't even remember ever meeting this man. Now he was telling her that they had made love together.
April sighed. "Yes Madeline, we made love. We're on our honeymoon right now and we were going to try and have a child tonight but I'm trying to restore your memory."
"We were going to have kids together?"
April felt himself ever starting to lose hope. He then remembered the promise that he made to Madeline the night that they had shared the night that they had shared their first kiss. She had made him promise that if she forgot him and he failed to restore her memory, then he should "shoot her or something" because she couldn't ever be truly happy ever again.
"I have one last idea that might help jog your memory." He grabbed a Pokeball from his belt and threw it down on the ground. Yveltal, whom he had nicknamed Naemeldi, emerged and let out a mighty cry. April helped Madeline onto the majestic bird and hopped on soon after.
"Naemeldi! Fly to Sinnoh!"
What will it take to make or break this hint of love?
So tell me darling, do you wish we'd fall in love?
"See on top of that house right there?" April pointed to a small house made out of wood, which he was surprised was still there after all the years that had passed. "Up there on that roof is where we shared our very first kiss."
Madeline just stared at the house.
"Please," April begged as he grabbed ahold of her arm. "tell me that you remember that. Tell me that that's what triggers your memory." For the first time in his life, April felt on the verge of tears. "Tell me that you remember me. Tell me that you remember everything that we've been through all these years."
Madeline shook her head. "No, I don't."
April felt his whole world crashing down on him. Why had he made that stupid promise to her? To be fair, she didn't remember that she had made him promise that in the first place. But she also didn't remember that she was loved by him and was still loved by him. "Well, a promise is a promise. Sit down and lean against the house Madeline."
Madeline did what she was told as April reached and pulled out the gun that he always carried around with him in case he ever needed to use it for self-defense.
"Even though you don't remember me, I haven't forgotten you." April's hands trembled as he held the gun. "Even though you have forgotten me, I still love you with all of my heart and will continue to love you. Even though you have forgotten this, I've made a promise to shoot you if I failed to make you remember me because you could never be truly happy ever again. That's what you told me. And I'm going to follow through with this promise." April pointed the gun straight at Madeline's head and closed his eyes as he pulled the trigger. He broke down crying as soon as he heard the loud bang. Through his tear-filled eyes, he saw blood seeping from the wound on Madeline's head. He crawled over to her, unable to stand due to just how much he was trembling. He gave her one last passionate kiss on the lips before putting the barrel of the gun to his head and closing his eyes as he pulled the trigger. There was no way on earth that he was going to go on without Madeline. He didn't want to see a world without her because she was truly something special.
All the time, all the time.
Hopefully they could now be together forever and she could and would never forget him again.
