The Walls

I am a girl with no memories. I thought.

Why was I even here? I revised whatever I could remember, beginning from the first memory I could think of.

Darkness. Metal box. Light. Boys. Darkness. Glade. Walls.

I paused on walls. What was beyond them? Why did Newt persist so much not to cross them? What if I do? They're just ordinary, ancient walls. How am I even supposed to go beyond them?

Knock. Knock.

The knock on the door of the room disturbed my well-planned thoughts. I was still in the Homestead waiting for the Chucky to arrive.

"Come in!" I said confirming myself its Newt.

Someone slightly gave a push to the door and then a red, curly head appeared.

That's not Newt! I thought.

Pushing the rest of the body in, the person entered. I read the boys appearance. Red curly hair. Fat, -no- really fat! Younger than any of the other guys.

"I'm Chuck." They red head said through a huge grin on his lips.

Chuck.

"Eh..yeah, Newt told me about you." He was so, so weird.

Chuck led me out of the Homestead. Once I was out I felt the cold air on my cheeks. Air. It was a part of my life. The sky had turned pale orange, revealing the twilight.

"When is the bonfire?" I asked Chuck who walked next to me in full confidence.

"They'll begin it as soon as you reach." His cheeks giggled like a dough as he spoke.

I nodded and kept on walking in silence.

"Do you know your name?" Chuck? broke the silence.

The question was hard to stomach. What if I could never remember it? "No"

"Until then we can call you Ocean!" He said in an excitement and chuckled. I like the boy.

"Ocean?" I raised an eyebrow.

"That matches your blue eyes."

And then I realized I didn't even knew how I looked like, let the knowing the name alone. I didn't knew what to say so all I replied him with was a smile.

"How long have you been here, Chuck?" I tried to end the weirdness that was created.

"Two months, I guess?"

"Well, you survived the Walls at least." I giggled as I had said the funniest joke in the world. When I didn't receive any compliment on my joke, I looked at Chuck. The kid's face was pale and sweaty.

"Hey." I shook his shoulders bringing him back to life. "You okay?"

"Yeah, yes. I'm alright." He replied in confusion.

It didn't felt right. Nothing felt right. The Walls didn't sound much good. The word 'walls' brought nothing else than fear on everybody's face. First Newt, and now him. They'd to tell me.

"Chuck? What's behind those walls?" I said glancing at them and the danger that stood there.

He looked at me and then moved his gaze to the walls. "They aren't safe." He gulped. "I don't know much but all I know is that what waits behind them isn't very kind."

Waits behind them?

"We better go." He turned to leave. But I couldn't my feet were glued to the ground and my eyes to the Walls.

Something waits behind them. I thought.

"Ocean? Coming?" I heard Chuck shout behind me.

I gradually turned my back to the Walls. Before I could take a step forward, the shake of the ground dropped me to my knees. Then a loud, destructive sound followed. A sound like the world was falling apart. If there existed any world, though.

I pulled myself to my feet, unaware of the situation. Despite all the shakes, I balanced on my feet. "Chuck! What's happening?" I asked Chuck who was maintained on his feet. "Chuck!" I shouted again when I got no reply.

The boy mumbled something under his lips but the sound didn't let his voice reach me.

"What?" I asked.

"The Walls!"
