*2 Days Later*

DeMyya's POV

It's finally Monday. I've had the longest weekend. I had to spend yesterday and Saturday explaining how Michael has treated me and momma to the police and lawyers and everybody else connected.

I ended up coming back to Jurnee's house lastnight. A detective named Larry Davis, explained everything to Ms. April because she was so worried about me. The alarm clock is buzzing and Jurnee hasn't moved. I got out of bed and stopped it. I hopped in the shower and did my daily routine. By the time I got out, Jurnee was picking us out clothes for the day. "Good morning sleeping beauty.", I said laughing. Jurnee smiled and returned the gesture. Ms. April bought me a couple of outfits and a lot of new under clothes and socks but I had to get a job to buy extra clothes that I wanted.

I dropped my towel and started to put on the clothes Jurnee has laid out. As I was sliding up my panties, the room door swung open. I covered myself as much as I could, not knowing who was at the door. "Kenny, can you knock first?", I semi-yelled. "I didn't even know y'all was up yet, dang my bad.", Kenny said walking out. "Kenny, I'm sorry ya know.", I said trying to apologize about RaiShaun, but he kept walking.

An hour later, we were out the house and at the bus stop. Monique, James and a couple of other students were already out there. "Hey Myya. I'm sorry about what happened.", Monique said hugging me. I didn't hug her back because I was wondering how she knew. But then it clicked! Her momma work at the hospital. I nodded as the bus pulled up. I'd normally sit in the back with Jurnee nem but today I wanted to be alone. I sat at the front behind the bus driver. This is gonna be a long week.

When we arrived at the school, I didn't bother going to the cafeteria. I went straight to my locker to retrieve my books. "Yo Demyya, wassup?", I heard someone say. I turned around to see Jermaine holding a gift bag. "I'm so sorry. I forgot to meet you. My mind has been all over the place.", I said closing my locker. "It's cool. Just take this and thank me later.",he said handing me the gift bag and walking away.

I made it to home room before anyone and got a seat in the back. I opened the bag and it was a iPhone 5c and a note.

The note read:
Sup Ma. Hope your weekend was great. Well here's a gift from me to you. Hope you like it. It's already activated and ready to go. My number is already saved. I'm not looking for nothing in return but a text from you.

P.S. Can you keep this a secret? I kinda have a girlfriend.

I reread the note and took out the phone. I texted Jermaine number.

Me: Thanks Jermaine. But if you got a girl, I think it's best that I return this gift.

Maine: No Myya, it's cool. I'll explain more tonight on the phone. The bell finna ring. Ttyl.

When I looked up, the class was slowly filling with people and Jurnee was walking towards me. "You okay Myya?", she asked sitting next to me. I nodded my head and started on the assignment that was on the board.

The last bell rang and the teacher Mr. Bones walked in. He instructed the class to complete the assignment that I had already started. "You have 30 mins to complete this 3 page essay about a tough time in your life.", he continued. "You going with me afterschool to go see my momma?", I passed a note to Jurnee. She looked up from the paper and smiled. "I thought you would never ask.", she said. "What's in the bag?", she asked looking towards the gift Jermaine gave me. "A phone.", I simply responded.

Thirty minutes later, Mr. Bones asked for the essays. Some people groaned meaning they weren't done yet. But me, I had written four pages and was finished. I handed in my assignment just as the bell rang. I know I did an amazing job.

•Skips To The Last Class•

I was walking to my last class and somebody bumped into me. "Watch where your going!", I hissed picking up my books. "I'm sorry lil baby.", Rai'Shaun apologized as he grabbed my library book and handed it to me. It felt weird talking to him since our bathroom incident. Should I be mad at him? "Why did you tell Kenny and the boys about what happened?", I asked staring at him. "Well it kinda slipped out. But weee, never said we couldn't tell other people.", he said pointing between me and him. "You know what? I don't even care no more.", I said walking in the class room full of seniors. I hated being more advance than my age group.

I took my normal seat in the back and guess who walked in. RAI'SHAUN! "Sup Mr. Dozier? I got my 1st and last classes switched.", Rai'Shaun informed our teacher. "Well glad to see you again today. The only seat we have available is in the far back.", Mr. Dozier pointed towards the seat next to me. Ugh, this is gonna be a long class.

I was doing my math problems, when a note landed on my desk. It read: Myya, can I have your number? I looked up and nobody was looking. I continued solving my quadratic equations. Another note landed on my desk. It read: By the way, this RaiShaun. I looked at him and he was still working on his worksheets. I looked in my phone for the phone number. I wrote it on the same piece of paper and sat it on his desk. The bell rang signaling school was over. Yes, I survived the day with no problems. So I thought.

"Hey ugly. How was your day?", Jurnee asked walking down the hall with me. "It was aight I guess. The biggest part is going to your house with Kenny.", I said as we walked to the bus and met with Monique. "Wait, don't you have cheerleading practice?", I asked Jurnee. She looked at us and took off running back towards the building. "I'll call the house in an hour!", she yelled.

I made it to the house and nobody was there yet. Kenny probably was somewhere with Lailah. "Wanna go to my house till somebody get here?", Monique asked. I looked down the street towards our houses. "I can't leave here without checking in. I might be down there later though.", I said giving her a half smile. Monique walked away and I sat down on the front porch.

Something vibrated in my pockets and I jumped. I let out a sigh remembering I had a phone. It was a message from Jermaine. It read: Hey beautiful. How was your day?" I smiled and texted him back. We were playing 21 questions, getting to know each other. He told me he had a passion for poetry and I smiled at this.

"Glad someone's making you smile.", said a voice. I looked up to see Kenny walking up the stairs. He had a cold glare as he unlocked the door. "Ladies first.", he said stepping back. I walked in the house and went straight to Jurnee's room. I texted her telling her this was my number and that we'll go see my momma when she get out of practice. She simply said 'k'. It usually irritates me when people reply with 'k', 'aw' or anything of that sort but I knew she wasn't supposed to be on her phone.

"DeMyya? You up here?", Ms. April called out. I walked into the hallway, just as she made it to Jurnee's door. "Yes ma'am.", I said, stating the obvious. "I'm doing a double today. But since you have your license, I'm leaving you and Jurnee the car. Do not let Jurnee get behind the wheel.", I nodded as she continued to talk. "Here's some money and the keys.", she handed it to me. "Buy $20 worth of gas, some dinner and you can buy you some more clothes with the rest.", she said smiling. I was speechless. "Um, thank you so much Ms. April.", I said hugging her. "No problem. I'm pretty sure you'll be visiting your mother today. Let her know that I'm praying for her strength. I love you Myya.", Ms. April said kissing me on the cheek. "I will and I love you too.", I said as she made her way downstairs and out the house. I walked back in Jurnee's room and took off my shoes.

I had 2 and a half hours before Jurnee will be released from practice. I was still texting Jermaine though. He wanted to hang out this weekend. I had to see about that. I turned on Jurnee's computer and played Bonnie and Clyde by Tink. I picked up around the room and cleaned the bathroom. As I was leaving the bathroom, Kenny was walking towards his room. "The house smells lovely.", he said sarcastically. He's a male, of course he would hate the cherry blossom scented candles I lit. I turned off the computer and light and headed downstairs.

I walked in the kitchen and looked at the chore list. It was my day to do the bathroom, which I did. Jurnee had to do the dishes and mop. I could let her do them but it was only two cups and a plate. I ran a little dish water and made mop water too. "Why are you cleaning up so much?", Kenny said walking up behind me grabbing my waist. "Because that's the least I can do. Your mom has been so nice to me.", I replied taking his hands off of me as I finished the dishes.

Kenny looked at the chore list and grabbed the broom. He swept the kitchen and living room and then took out the trash. I looked in the closet and grabbed the mop and mopped the kitchen as well as the living room. "The house is clean, now sit down somewhere.", Kenny insisted.

I looked at the time and it was 4:45pm. Jurnee didn't get out until 5:30pm. "Kenny, I'll be back. I'm going to get Monique then we're going to the grocery store.", I said as he walked into the living room. "And how are you doing all of this.", he asked. I grabbed the keys off the hook and he scowled. "Momma, left you the keys?", he asked rolling his eyes. "Yea, and you know you don't look good rolling your eyes.

Kenny grabbed my waist, "You know you don't look good with Rai'Shaun.", he said. He put his head on my shoulder and kissed my neck. "I'm sorry for the way I've been acting Myya. I just never had a girl like you.", he confessed. I turned my head and pulled away from him.

"I accept your apology but what does this mean for us?", I asked. Kenny grinned and pulled me back closer to him.

"I want you to be mine forever.", he said kissing me on my lips.

"Okay, under one condition?", I said and he gave me a unknown look. "That it will only be me and you in this relationship. Not Lailah, Jurnee, James, nobody.", I said. Kenny took a deep breath and said, "I promise."
