Chapter 40

I remained still on my perch, hidden well within the leaves of the tree. Five people are below. A team from their class.

I haven't moved in a while. My breathing so soft no one can hear. The crucial thing about taking down opponents quickly is stealth. Become invisible.

No, something more. Disappear completely while still being there.

Become a ghost.

That's the most crucial factor. Because you dont want your targets ever knowing what is happening until it is far too late. By the time your assualt is done, they should still be scratching their heads.

In a stage like this, people like me should also have an upper hand. Because if you put yoir mindset as an assassin then this is your hunting ground.

And these are my prey.

I had been watching these five. They had fought against another group and managed to escape. Two of which are skilled with boxing.

Something I can handle with ease. That's similar to Kacchan's style. I have experience fighting against it.

Their Quirks are interesting as well and can be proven a hindrance depending on how well they use them.

I tilted my head a bit, continuing to exam them. They're stats aren't bad.

They have one that exceeds in speed and defense. One that can heighten any of his senses. Two in offense and durability. And one who is strong all around.

His strength, speed, agility, reflexes, mind, and senses are all equal, and large. He'll be the one I take out first.

Having formed a plan, I jumped to another tree, just behind him without making a sound.

My hair moved a bit, forming a small blade. I tore it out without making a sound and tossed it in the opposite direction.

It landed in a bush, making a sound. The five immediately turned in that direction, on high alert.

Now!

I jumped down behind him, silent. Only when it was too late did he sense me. My arms snaked around his neck and covered his mouth before I smacked the pressure point on his back, making him pass out. I let go of him and quickly dove into the shadows, not making a noise.

He collapsed to the ground without my aid, and his team turned quickly to him. "Nase?!" The girl shouted.

In that span of disbelief and panic, I ran behind the two offense ones, striking them along the way as I jumped up into the tree.

They fell to the ground, passed out. "Get back!" One motioned to his teammate before holding his hands out.

This one is interesting. The sharpened senses. He'd make an excellent tracker. Unfortunately for him, I know a weakness.

"You know what's bad about heightened hearing?" I whispered so lowly, no normal person could ever possibly hear.

His whole body stiffened and I jumped, landing between him and the girl. My hair moved to her, forming a blade against her throat as I stood behind him.

I leaned in closer, my lips nearly brushing his ear. And screamed.

He let out a bloodcurdling scream as his eyes rolled into the back of his head before collapsing as well, twitching every now and then.

I glanced back at the girl, who remained still due to the sword pressed tightly against her throat.

"The bad thing about having his heightened senses trained on one person specifically is if I make a noise ten times louder then the one he zoned in on, it will override his senses and cause the sensitive eardrums to nearly shatter at the harsh vibrations." I told her, another long blade moved on my head, trapping her between.

"Your Quirk is a simple first sprint. The first ten seconds of your run will take you further then any normal sprint. However."

One blade morphed into a half circle like scythe, trapping her neck completely. "You have trouble avoiding objects in your way."

Keeping my emotionless eyes on her, I quirked an eyebrow. "Checkmate."

~

"Nozomi." Hm? I glanced over to see Todoroki my way. "Ah. Yo. Good job on passing." I told him, still leaning against the wall of the waiting room.

He nodding, standing not too far next to me. "You too."

I stared at him from the corner of my eye. I'm a bit surprised. He took a bit longer to get here. I was sure he'd be one of the first few.

Then again, there are a lot of strong people here. Not that their Quirks are that amazing. More like they've learned how to use them to the best of their abilities.

They're not simply brainless loudmouths either. They've been training in different ways too. It's actually interesting.

But what I find most interesting is the fact that Kacchan isn't here yet. I think I saw him run off somewhere, the two idiots following after.

Kirishima and Kaminari.

Their teamwork is going to be cruddy. Kacchan doesn't work with others. Not willingly at least.

I leaned my head back and closed my eyes.

I don't want to be here. Yet here I am. But why?

Why am I doing this? There is no point. I don't want to be a Hero. I don't want to be something big. I don't have any plans for the future. I don't have any dreams.

I'm just here. I don't know what my future holds. But becoming a Hero isn't one.

"Hey, Kiriya. What's your dream?" She asked. I looked up at her with curious eyes. "Dream?" I asked her.

She nodded, crouching down to my height. "Mhm. Dream. You never talk about it as much as the other kids. So, what is your dream for the future?" She asked with the kindest smile.

Dream? Do I have a dream? I smiled up at her. "I . . !"

"Kiri! Todoroki!" I snapped my eyes open, spotting some of our classmates. Asui, Jiro, Yaomomo, and Shoji.

They passed, huh? The group walked over and began to talk to us. And Todoroki surprised me and talked back.

Not a lot, but still.

Seems like everyone is beginning to open up. Little by little, making steps forward.

Am I moving forward? No. How can someone with no goals, ambitions, or dreams ever move forward?

But . . . I looked over at the group as they chatted amongst themselves. Good for them.

Without making a sound, I walked away without their noticing. Nobody noticed. But how could they? I'm not a normal person.

'I am a weapon. A weapon is a tool. And a tool obey's its masters command.' That phrase has been drilled into my head. And for some reason, it popped into my mind.

A bitter smile made its way onto my face. That's right. A tool has no need for dreams.

It's not dreams that keeps me here. I'm not even sure if it's Izu and Kacchan anymore. It's not for her either.

Then why am I still in this school? Why am I going through all this hassle, this path to a Hero?

Everyone here wants to become a Hero more then anything. Even those who have failed. Yet I, a person who despises the false Hero, am here. I passed the first phase. But why?

I grit my teeth in agitation. For a while now, I have done things that I have no idea why.

Things I normally wouldn't do. And it confuses me. My actions lately are completely different then my usual self.

And I don't understand these . . . emotions. I have learned to shove any emotion I feel into a box inside myself. Yet I can't seem to even do that right.

What the hell is going on with me? I've never confused myself like this before. When did this begin?

I don't understand.

I don't like it.

It confuses me.

What the hell is wrong with me?

A/N

Sorry the chapter was so short!!! I hope you all liked it though. I didn't write a big old fight scene because Kiriya even said that she is more of a ninja then anything. I can't wait to write the next one, it'll be more action packed, I promise! ^_^
