Chapter 31
Everyone gathered at the school so we can take the bus to our training camp.
I yawned loudly. We had to wake up early for this. And by wake up I mean that damn Midnight kept on hitting me till I got up.
It's such a pain to live with a Hero. "Deku, it's finally time for the training camp in the woods, huh?" Uraraka ran up to Izu, a big smile on her face.
Of course Izu went bright red and averted his gaze up. "Y-Yeah, that's right Uraraka!" He answered, his voice a pitch higher.
Ah-ah. Still not used to girls are you?
If she keeps on getting that close to him he's going to have a heart attack.
"What's the matter?" She asked, noticing his odd behavior. "Well, um . . !" Izu inched back.
She kept staring at him curiously until she remembered something herself and turned a matching red. She quickly went far back. "I-It's time for training camp!" She began to move around, clapping.
"Training camp! Training camp! Training camp!" In her cheer, Kaminari and Ashido joined as they moved about chanting that.
But only the those two seemed excited. Uraraka still seemed kind of embarrassed.
Oh? I see. This is an interesting turn of events.
"What? There are people in Class A taking extra classes? Does that mean you had people who failed the finals? What? Isn't that weird? Isn't that weird? Even though they're supposed to be way better than Class B? How can that be?"
Before I could hit the newcomer, Itsuka did so for me and he collapsed.
Class B stared at Monoma and sighed.
Itsuka smiled at us. "Sorry!" She grabbed the back of his shirt and began to drag him to their bus.
Izu smiled. "Oh, it's class B!" They smiled over at us. "We kind of met during the sports festival, but nice to meet you, Class A." Tokage greeted.
I see she's as chatty as ever I see. "Yeah." A girl with straight dark hair and blue eyes nodded.
"We're getting on the bus!" Itsuka called out to her class. "Okay!" Her class responded.
"Kiri! See you at the camp!" She smiled over at me and waved. I nodded and held my hand up in return. "Yeah. Ah. Hit him again for me when he wakes up!" She laughed.
"Okay." She laughed. I nodded, amused. "Thanks, Itsuka. Hm." I glanced over at Ashido and Hagakure who were now by me, staring at me.
Well, I can only see Ashido staring at me.
Very accusingly too. "Kiri! How come you'll call Kendo by her first name but not us?" Ashido interrogated. "Are we not your friends?!" Hagakure demanded.
.
.
.
"What?" I asked, making sure I hadn't misheard.
"We're saying you only call us by our last names but you call Kendo by her first!" Hagakure shouted, moving bout. "It's not fair!" Ashido added.
Are they being serious right now? "Does it really matter?"
The two came impossibly close to me. "Of course it is!" They shouted, making me blink in surprise.
They look pretty upset by it. "Fine. Sorry . . . Mina, Toru." I apologized, even though I'm not sure why I am.
Their faces lit up and they latched onto me. "Hooray!" They cheered.
I looked at them weirdly. I am so very confused right now. "Eh?! Me too, me too!" Uraraka ran over, pouting up at me.
What the hell? "Ochako." I stated.
She grinned and hugged me as well. "What are you guys doing? Let go! You're weirding me out! Hey!"
They just giggled hugging me tighter.
What the actual hell?! "Let go!" I struggled but they wouldn't let me go.
Chuckles sounded. "Kiri looks like a cat being put in a bath!" Kaminari laughed. Izu smiled over at me. "Kiri, it's okay. You can do it!" He encouraged.
My temple throbbed in annoyance. "What the hell? No! Iida! Shouldn't we be boarding a bus?!" I asked him, slightly desperate.
He seemed to realize and made his weird hand gestures. "Class A's bus is this way! Line up in seat order!"
The three hugging me finally released me and I sighed in relief. Thank god.
What the hell was that?
We boarded the bus and headed out.
Since we have an odd group number, I had the entire backseat to myself. The back seat is long enough because it's the very back, meaning it can hold four people. So I sprawled out and slept.
Well, tried to. Everyone is so damn noisy.
I turned so I'm facing the seat, my back to them. After a little over an hour, the bus came to a stop and we all filed out.
Hm. A rest area? Aizawa-Sensei isn't one to stop at one though.
Mineta dashed around, holding his crotch going on about having to pee. "Does this count as a rest area?" Kaminari asked, looking around.
"Huh? Where's Class B?" Jiro wondered.
Mineta kept on running around, having to go. "There's no point in stopping without reason." Aizawa-Sensei stated.
Ah crap. This isn't going to be fun.
The car parked nearby opened. "Hey, Eraser!" Aizawa-Sensei bowed his head. "Long time no see." He greeted.
Two women popped out, costumes like cats.
They moved around, as if doing a show. "Lock on with these sparkling gazes!" The one in red and short brown hair started.
"Stingingly cute and catlike! " The one in blue with long pale blonde hair added. "Wild, wild . . . Pussycats!" They struck a pose.
Ugh. These two are loud. More loud children to add to the class.
Just great.
Next to them, looking indifferent, is a little boy.
Well, they are pretty old. Probably a kid of one of them. My money's on the blonde.
Like me, the rest of the class . . . yeah those women are weird. "These are Pro Heroes who will be working with us during the camp, the Pussycats." Aizawa-Sensei explained.
Ugh. This is going to be a long week, I can tell.
"They're a four-person Hero Team who set up a joint agency! They're a veteran team that specializes in mountain rescues!"
Ah Izu. Always the fanboy. "This year will be their twelfth workin-" The blonde quickly grabbed his face with her hand, covered in a cat paw glove.
"I'm eighteen at heart!" She said, voice pitch lower.
She sounds desperate. "And thirty with your body." I stated.
She lunged for me next, grabbing me by the collar of my shirt and staring down at me with a glare. She's trying to intimidate me? I just gave her a blank stare.
"At heart?" She asked. I blinked a bit. "You're thirty."
She dropped my and clutched her hair, letting out a shriek. Izu inches over to me, shaking a bit. "K-Kiri-Nee."
I glanced over at him. "She's gotta accept her age." I told him flat out. He sweat dropped in return.
"Greet them everyone." Aizawa-Sensei ordered us. "Nice to meet you." We greeted.
Although I'm not exactly thrilled about this. I can tell the blonde is going to get on my nerves.
Man what a stupid trip. I should've flunked the written so I wouldn't end up here.
The brown haired Hero gestured to the large forest below, just pass the little fence to seperate us from the cliffs edge.
"We own this whole stretch of land here. You will be staying at the foot of that mountain." She pointed far, far away.
Ah shit. No, don't do this to me Aizawa. I really don't want to be doing any work.
"Huh? Then why did we stop here?" Ura-Ochako asked. "Could this mean . . ?" Asui started.
I sighed loudly. "Yeah, it does." Man this is going to be a cruddy week. "Why don't we get back to the bus, huh? Fast." Sero and Sato are in denial.
"Yeah, let's do that." Kaminari agreed, also not wanting to do this and wanting to believe it's not real.
Everyone doesn't want to believe it.
But unfortunately this is reality. "It's 9:30 AM right now. If you're fast . . . maybe around noon." The brown haired one started, sounding very sadistic.
"No way. Guys!" Kirishima shouted. "Let's get back!" Ashido shouted and turned. "Get back to the bus! Hurry!" Kirishima warned as everyone turned to run back to the bus before we could be forced to do whatever, troublesome, thing they want us to.
"Kitties who don't make it by 12:30 won't get any lunch!" The brunette called.
We ran past our teacher, but the blonde jumped between us and the bus, mischief in her eyes.
She placed his hands on the ground and activated her Quirk.
The ground rose up at her will and hit us, flinging us over the cliff. "You're still thirty!" I called over as everyone screamed.
As we fell, I flipped and landed harshly on my feet on the ground below.
Damn it. Too slow.
The brunette leaned over the railing. "Hey! Since it's private land, you can use your Quirks as you wish! You have three hours! Come to the facility on your own two feet! After getting through . . . The Beast's Forest!"
The blonde appeared by her comrade, glaring down at me. "I'm eighteen at heart!" She roared, obviously catching my comment as she flung me over the edge.
I rolled my eyes, turning towards the large forest behind us. "The name sounds like it came right out of Dragon Quest!" Kaminari exclaimed.
Well it is kind of a ridiculous name. Obviously meant to intimidate us.
"U.A. does stuff like this way too much." Jiro complained. Well they do. So annoying. What a waste of time.
"It's no use complaining." Kirishima said, brushing the dirt off his shirt. "I beg to differ. This whole learning curriculum is a sham." I stated, patting my skirt.
Man I gotta get this uniform cleaned now. What a pain.
Kirishima patted my back, trying to be an optimist.
"We just have to go. Walking isn't so hard." He tried. It's inconvenient and a hindrance.
Mineta dashed past us and headed for the forest to relieve himself. That's right, he has to use the bathroom.
Guess a tree will have to suffice- "Of course." I said, throwing my hands in the air.
A very large beast of sorts stood in front of Mineta. "It's a beast!" Sero and Kaminari screamed.
It moved it's ridiculous large hand-paw-whatever the hell that is.
Koda ran over, arms open wide. "Calm down, kind beast!" He shouted, trying to use his control over animals to calm it down.
But it's not living. It's that damn blonde.
The beast slammed its paw down towards Mineta. Before the little guy could be struck down, Izu had jumped over, picked him up, and jumped away.
Kacchan, Iida, and Todoroki ran straight in.
I sighed, pulling two swords from my hair. "Might as well." I groaned, rushing in as well.
Todoroki froze it's feet and Iida used his Recipro Burst to break them.
Kacchan and I jumped up into the air. I spun myself and sliced off one arm while Kacchan took the other.
Izu jumped high into the air and made the finishing blow and slammed right through it, making it return to dirt.
I kicked a stray piece of earth in annoyance. What a joke.
"You guys defeated that beast in an instant!" Sato grinned as he and the other walked over to us. "You're amazing Bakugo, Kiri." Kirishima praised.
I glanced at my blades. Well, at least it didn't dull them. "Not yet!"
Huh? Following his gaze, I see another beast, this one a bit different. "Of course. We'll, these things aren't living, so I can just chop off their heads. Convenient." I shrugged uncaringly.
Everyone looked around worriedly, wondering what to do. Run or fight?
"Then we have no choice but to get through here and take the shortest route." Yaoyorozu informed everyone.
Well, seems easy enough. Just gotta destroy them. "Alright. Let's go, Class A!" Iida encouraged, to which everyone responded.
Shoji and Jiro were mainly on reconnaissance, to listen or look for the beasts and tell us their location.
With their help we took down the beasts before they knew we were there.
I jumped into the trees, swinging my blades with ease and cutting any of them down.
I have stealth on my side, so it was a lot easier to do. Especially since I can kill them. And since Tokoyami works quietly, he and I are partnered for it.
We are the 'assassins' of the group as Kaminari put it.
A pterodactyl like beast appeared in the sky. "Nozomi." Tokoyami called.
I nodded, jumped off the tree. Dark Shadow swooped in below me and I landed on him. He took me up to the sky. "Ready?" I asked Dark Shadow. "Yeah!"
I jumped off of him and flipped above the pterodactyl like beast.
Dark Shadow went to attack it's underbelly. While he did that I landed on it's back and swiped as I ran up it's body before taking its head.
As the beast returned to dirt, I landed on Dark Shadow and he took me to the closest tree and we continued our jobs.
Everyone worked together, but it took a long time. Sundown actually.
When oranges colored the sky, we trudged over to the building at the base of the mountain. "Oh, you're finally here, Nya!" The blonde greeted.
I wanna smash her teeth in. So much.
It's not like we were injured or anything. Just tired. Lucky for me, my body is used to fighting for long periods of time so I wasn't so bad.
I wasn't in the best condition either though.
Some of them collapsed to their knees. "What do you mean three hours?!" Sato demanded.
The brunette smiled. "That's the time it would've taken us. Sorry!"
Yes. I'm going to kill them.
Ashido leaned against me and Jiro as she panted heavily. "You were trying to boast about how much better you are? That's mean!"
"I'm hungry . . . I'm gonna die!" Kirishima shouted from his spot on the ground.
The blonde snickered. "But honestly, I thought it would take even longer. You guys didn't have as hard a time beating my earth beasts as I thought you would. You guys are great. Especially you four!"
She pointed over at Izu, Iida, Todoroki, and Kacchan. "Were you able to act without hesitation because of your experience?"
She licked her lips and rushed to them, lips puckered. "I'm looking forward to where you'll be in three years! I call dibs!"
The boys covered their mouths and faces, trying to keep her from kissing them as they fretted about.
I should probably help them.
I walked over, standing between them and her. "You can't have them." I told her, hands on my hips.
She glared ferociously at me. "And why not? Oh! Is one your boyfriend?" She asked.
Huh? Well no. "Yes. All four are." I stated. She went back to glaring at me. "Liar!"
I rolled my eyes at her. "I'm not. They really are my boyfriends."
She scowled before examining me. "Prove it." She dared me. I shrugged. "Fine."
I turned and went to the first one, Iida. He looked at me questioningly but still weary of the blonde. I grabbed his tie and pulled him down, kissing him.
He went rigid, not expecting it. No one did.
"EH?!" Shouts sounded.
I pulled away, but Iida remained frozen. Before Todoroki could even comprehend the situation, I did the same to him. He also froze at my action.
By now, Izu and most of the class were red as beets.
I walked over to Kacchan, who backed up. Before he could run I grabbed his face in my hands. "Either me or the blonde." I whispered so only he could hear.
"N-mpf!" I cut off his words with my mouth. I pulled away not long.
Finally it's Izu. He was already frozen, bright as a stop light. But I already started this.
I grabbed his face and brought his lips to mine in a kiss.
His face steamed and he passed out. "Oh boy." I said as he fell, eyes swirling.
Well, I don't blame him.
I turned back to the blonde and tilted my head. "Proof enough?" I asked.
She fell to her hands and knees and hit the ground. "Damn it! All the good ones are always taken!" She wailed out.
"K-Kiri . . . that was . . ." Ochako didn't even know what to say. I looked back.
Iida is still frozen stiff, Todoroki is trying to regain his composure, Kacchan is shaking, angry at me but not wanting the blonde Hero to attack him. Izu has regained consciousness and stood, bright red.
"Don't you think that was a little extreme?" Kirishima asked.
Hm? "It was just a kiss. It's not that big of a deal." I said, since the blonde is still shouting curses to the world.
"Eh? But you k-k-kissed them." Jiro said, a blush on her face.
Well duh. I was there.
Even Mina is blushing. "Does a kiss really mean that little to you?" She asked.
I sighed, walking over to her. Before she could ask, I kissed her, making everyone shout.
I pulled away and she's no longer pink, but red. "See. Not that big of a deal. I could kiss Mineta and it would still mean nothing." I shrugged nonchalantly.
Seriously what is their deal? It's just a kiss. There is nothing to a kiss.
I know a guy whose Quirk makes people's minds his toy once he's kissed them. Something about his saliva. Even he says kissing isn't a big deal.
I don't see why they're getting all embarrassed.
"Mandalay . . . was she like that?" Aizawa-Sensei asked pointing at the blonde who is still shouting at the world.
"She's a little desperate, since she's about the suitable age for, you know." Mandalay explained to our teacher. "Speaking of 'suitable age'-" Izu started, coming out of his haze, but the blonde covered his face with her hand again.
"What about it?" She asked dangerously.
Izu pointed behind her at the boy by Mandalay. "I-It's been bothering me for a while. Whose child is that?" He asked.
Mandalay glanced over at the little boy. "Oh, he's not one of ours. He's my cousin's kid. Come on Kota. Greet everyone. You'll be with them for the next week."
The little boy just stared at us with a mean old look.
But Izu, being the nice person he is, walked over with a smile, crouching in front of him. "Oh, um, I'm Midoriya from U.A. High School's Hero Course. Nice to meet you."
He held his hand out to shake, but the boy swung his fist and hit him between the legs.
"Izu!" I shouted, eyes widening.
Iida quickly ran over, catching him before he fell. "Midoriya! You brute of a nephew! Why would you do that to Midoriya's scrotum?!" He shouted at the little brat.
The brat glanced back with an intense glare. "I don't intend to hang out with guys who want to become Heroes!"
Intend? How old is this little brat?! Kacchan looked over at him with a half smile. "Precious brat."
My eye twitched. Now he's not yelling his sentences?
"Isn't he kinda like you?" Todoroki asked, making the known observation. "What?! Not at all! Anyway, shut up you GG bastard!" Kacchan yelled over at him.
"Huh? It's like a blast from a past. Totally how you used to act. Ah, well you still act that way."
Kacchan turned to me now, still angry. "HUH?! I do not! I was a great kid and am nothing like this brat!"
I scoffed. Yeah right.
"Enough with this charade. Get your stuff off the bus. Once you've put your bags in your rooms, we'll have dinner in the cafeteria. After that you'll bath and go to sleep. We'll start for real tomorrow. Now move quickly."
We've been in that forest for half a day and you couldn't even unload our bags?
~
"Thanks for the food!" Izu thanked before eating. At least the food is good.
Everyone seemed excited about the food and rooms. I don't really know, I'm not really paying much attention. "Still, Kiri, that was a shock." Toru said.
The others nodded. "If I'd known you guys were so damn sensitive I would have just let her pester you. My bad." I shrugged.
Izu laughed nervously. "I'm not mad Kiri-Nee, I know you were trying to help. Besides, I don't think you even understand much about romance."
"Love is a chemical in the brain that is only there to make sure we reproduce. It's not a real thing." They all sweat dropped.
"Eh? You believe that?" Ochako asked. I nodded, continuing to eat. "Of course. Have you seen the science on it?"
The girls then began to discuss how love is a real thing, to which I refuted.
Even Yaoyorozu said that my science on it is real, but she says she wants to believe in it. "You guys are so mushy." I said, shaking my head.
"Well you need to be more like a girl. Don't worry! We'll teach you!" Mina said.
Oh this is going to suck. Izu, Kirishima, Kaminari, Sero, and Iida saw my expression and laughed.
Such a nuisance.
After we ate, we were supposed to take baths. But I managed to convince Aizawa to let me use a shower.
So I arrived back at the room first after scrubbing off the dirt and grind from today.
I laid down on my futon, the one closest to the garden door. I wore a pair of shorts and a tank top as my PJ's.
I stared at the wooden ceiling, thinking.
During this summer break, I have been doing some investigating. I even ended up getting ahold of some of my shadier 'acquaintances'. But recently, they've been attacked.
By Kei.
Apparently I'm on the right track about something and he's trying to stop me. It's futile really.
I will find out everything I need and I will do something about it.
To keep Izu safe. And to keep her safe as well.
I vowed it after all. And she was left in my care. I have to make sure she's safe. No matter the cost.
