Chapter 25

"Kiri! What are you doing?" Midnight asked. I am currently atop the rooftop of her agency, sword in hand, practicing my swordsmanship.

She is hanging on the edge of the tiled roofing. She had come from the closest window I presume, since this building doesn't have actual roof access.

I continued to swing the blade, staying in form. "Preparing." I merely told her, swinging in an arc and going to one knee, sword up as if an enemy was descending down on me.

"Preparing? For what?" She asked. I moved quick and slashed the air again.

Sighing, I deactivated my Quirk. The sword in my hand turned back into long strands of my hair.

I dropped it and ran my fingers through my hair.

It already grew back. Well, there was plenty of time. "Are we heading over to Best Jeanist then?" I asked.

Midnight has taken me out with her in a couple of crimes here and there. But otherwise, she let me do whatever.

She says that if I weren't me then she would have worked me a lot harder.

I was the only Intern she chose afterall. And she did it for three reasons.

One being she's trying to help me since she's basically my mom or an older sister. Two being that she wanted to make sure I went to my intern job. And third because I'm a valuable asset in the case against Kei and his current crime with the League of Villains.

She nodded and climbed back in through the window.

With little effort, I grabbed the edge of the roof and swung myself in through the window, landing on the ground with ease.

"Hey, you wanted to go because you want to go through Hosu on the way back, right?" She asked.

I nodded, stretching my arms. "Yeah." She stared at me curiously. "Why?"

Why? Hm, how to answer that I wonder. "I'm interested to see if a Hero can really save someone." She blinked at my response.

"That's the first time you've taken any interest in this. Alright! Let's go for it since you're in the mood! I knew you'd come around!" I rolled my eyes and headed out with her.

Of course not. I just can't say I need to save Iida otherwise she'd get her panties in a twist about it and notify his Hero.

As far as I can tell, he hasn't run into any trouble. I know a guy in Hosu who owes me and I've been having him check on Iida since we started our internship.

Of course he's part of the more shady crowd and he has animal instincts. And by animal instincts, he can tell when danger's about to happen. That's his Quirk.

So I use him from time to time.

He messaged me telling me he had a bad feeling that something's going to happen today. So I told Midnight I wanted to go to Best Jeanist today.

Iida isn't in his right mind. Someone's gotta look out for him. Besides . . . I don't want him to be in that kind of place.

He's-he's . . . it'll just piss me off if he gets hurt! That's it.

It didn't take too terribly long to make it to Best Jeanist office.

Since it was Midnight, we were waved in.

Ah, now that I think about it, Kacchan said he got an offer from him. Midnight opened the door to his office and I stared.

"Kacchan?" I asked, making absolute sure it was him.

He stiffened and slowly turned. The two of us stared at each other for one, two, three long seconds.

"Pft!" I turned, covering my mouth to shut the laugh. "Shut up!" He roared.

Kacchan's hair is all gelled down like a geek!

Oh my God, best day ever!

"Midnight, welcome." She waved, a smile on her face. "Long time no see." She greeted.

Best Jeanist walked over to us and stared down at me. His hair is also ridiculous. Same with his outfit. "Honestly I don't like you either."

"Most people don't." I responded without missing a beat.

Midnight smacked her hand to her mouth to quiet her laughter. "I see Midnight still hasn't beaten your attitude into shape. Well, that is why I gave you the offer."

I stepped away from him and took out my phone, taking three quick photos of Kacchan. "HEY! Give it!" He ran at me.

I jumped away from him and we moved about the room, me evading him and his hand. "Kiri! Give it! Delete it! I'll kill you!" He threatened.

I was pressed to a desk and Kacchan swung.

I moved my body back, my back against the desk and flipped to the other side in a swift movement, sending the photo to my email in case he did get my phone.

"I'll break your phone damn it!" He roared, chasing me around some more.

"I wouldn't Midnight just bought this the other day." I stated without a care and moved around him to avoid his arm.

"Enough." Huh.

Wires wrapped around the two of us. Wait, this isn't wire?

I followed it to Best Jeanist. "You two aren't here to have fun. You're here to learn how to become Heroes." I blinked.

"I'm not here for that. I'm here because I felt like it." His eye twitched and Midnight laughed nervously.

I glanced over at Kacchan. "It seems your Hero doesn't like you." I stated.

He shot me a glare with those beady red eyes. "He doesn't like you either."

I rolled my eyes at his comeback. "Nobody likes me. If they do, there's something wrong with their heads." I stated.

The wire like fibers released us and I rolled my shoulders.

"You two have a lot of work to do. But don't worry. I will shape you into Heroes."

~

After hours and hours of Best Jeanist lectures and attempts at my hair, I managed to slip away from him and Midnight.

I'm on the bullet train, headed straight for Hosu. I had to turn off my phone because Midnight and Kacchan kept blowing it up with calls.

Seriously, that damn Hero is so annoying. So many lectures. The sky has already lost color and night has fully taken over. That's how long.

At least with Midnight she let me be to train.

Once the train reached the station I hopped out and hurried out of the station.

I need to turn my phone on to get into contact with my guy, Taro. "There's a Villain!" A woman's shout warned us.

What? I looked around to see people looking very uneasy and even frightened.

Looking around, I notice an orange glow off in the distance, followed by more shouts from afar.

I quickly pulled out my phone and turned it on, running in the direction of the flames.

I quickly dialed Taro. He picked up on the second ring. "Where are you?! There's some danger happening all over Hosu!" He shouted in a panic.

I picked up my speed, going in the direction people are running away from.

"I know, I just got here. Is Iida with the fire?" I asked him.

I jumped up and grabbed the phone pole with one hand and swung myself up and onto a building rooftop.

The streets had gotten too difficult to go against the crowd. Rooftops are faster.

"No. He went after the Hero Killer." I jumped onto another roof and stopped.

"Where?! What street? What alley?" I demanded, my calm attitude dropping as an uneasy feeling began to build up.

"The back alley by Seika street." He answered, fear laced in his voice.

Well, he's a scaredy cat. Can't be helped. "Got it." I hung up and changed direction, running and jumping from roof to roof.

Iida. Just wait. I'm coming.

"I'm coming Iida." I muttered, pushing myself to go faster. As I got closer, I could hear shouts. Familiar shouts.

I jumped atop another roof and ran to the side where the shouts were coming from the alley below. There, an injured Hero, an injured Iida, and Izu who is fighting a man with a blood red scarf and knives strapped all over him. That's gotta be him.

Hero Killer: Stain.

But what the hell is Izu doing here?!

Stain went to stab him.

I jumped down, pulling a sword from my hair and clashing it with his blade. "Kiri-Nee?!" Izu shouted in surprise.

I stared into the ruby red eyes of Stain, struggling to overpower him.

Interesting. I've never encountered an opponent whose swordsmanship is his main battle skill.

I leaned back and struck my leg out, connecting with his abdomen and he flew back, but landed with ease a few feet back.

I held my sword, prepared for any attack he might make. "Kiri-Nee, what are you doing in Hosu?" Izu asked, coming up beside be and taking a defensive position.

"I should be asking you that. But I did come here knowing Iida came for revenge."

Izu seemed surprised by my responde. "You did?" I nodded, keeping my eyes on Stain.

"What about you?" I asked. Izu glanced back at Iida. "I'll tell you all about it later. For now, we gotta get Iida and Native to safety. They can't move. Something to do with his Quirk." He informed me.

I pursed my lips and tightened my grip on the sword. I could stall Stain long enough if Izu can grab those two.

He'll be slow, but that just means I have to hold him off as long as possible. "Midoriya, Nozomi, don't get involved."

Huh? "This has nothing to do with you two!" He shouted.

Irritation bubbled within me. "What are you saying?" Izu asked, looking back at him.

"Your friends came to save you. That's a great line, isn't it boy?" He said, referring to whatever Izu said before I got here. "But I have a duty to kill him. If we clash, of course the weaker will be culled."

The hairs on the back of my neck stood. Whoa. That's some intense bloodlust.

"Now, what will you do?" Those eyes, they're different from most villains. They are eyes of a killer. I'm all too familiar with eyes like that.

But I'm not afraid of him.

I noticed Izu fiddling with his phone behind his back. He glanced at me.

So that's the plan. We'll have to stall him as long as we can. We nodded together in understanding and readied for an attack.

"Stop it! Run away! I told you didn't I? It has nothing to do with you!"

I grit my teeth at Iida's words. "If you say that, then Heroes can't do anything! Th-There are a lot of things I'd like to say but I'll say them later. It's like what All Might said. Meddling when you don't need to is the essence of being a Hero." Stain perked a bit at Izu's words.

Strange reaction. He smiled wickedly, as if he's satisfied.

Izu rushed him and Stain moved his sword back to slash him. To shorten the distance between him and the opponent with a long reach is a good decision.

But it seems Stain was ready for this. No, he has fast reflexes.

His other hand grabbed a knife on his belt. "No! If you get cut-" Iida began to shout but stopped as Izu moved under and through Stain's legs, avoiding both blades.

Stain swung the sword back, but Izu had already jumped up and is above him.

That's new. It's like . . . .a small portion of One For All. He's learned a new trick. And in such a short time.

Impressive. "Five Percent Detroit Smash!" He struck from above.

He hit Stain in the head, making him fall. He imitated Kacchan, and so flawlessly too.

It's only been a couple of days . . . Incredible.

Izu landed a bit in front of him. But I saw it. Stain moved his knife to his face and licked something off of it.

Blood.

Izu let out a strangled noise and seemed frozen in a rigid state.

"It wasn't powerful enough. It's not that you saw through my movements. You left my field of vision and maneuvered so that you would definitely be able to bring me down. That was what your movements were like. People who are all talk are a dime a dozen, but you are worth letting live."

Relief filled me. Whatever Stain's preferences to kill, Izu doesn't match.

Which means I just need to keep Iida safe until backup arrives.

He walked towards us and I lunged forward. I swung my blade and he evaded, bringing a knife down.

I smirked and pulled a small blade from my hair and blocked it, turning my torso and slashing.

He managed to jump away in time, but I nicked him.

He's good. Fast, skilled, clever, and never hesitates.

I moved forward and we clashed blades. He smirked. "You're good for a child." I didn't allow emotions to overcome me.

To win I can't let it. I pushed back and we continued to clash blades.

He thrust a knife my way and nicked me, a small portion of my blood on his blade.

Shit.

He brought it to his mouth. I moved my hand with the small blade and struck the bottom of his knife, sending it soaring high into the sky and it landed somewhere behind me.

We clashed blades again, continuing to try and strike for the kill.

"I won't let you kill Iida." I growled, kicking at him. He saw it and jumped away. I quickly closed the gap and swung my sword, to which he blocked with ease.

"Why not? Surely you must realize you can't beat me."

That angered me a bit. "I can. You should never underestimate an opponent."

I dropped the small blade, and yanked out out another sword, using the dual technique.

I am very skilled with weapons. I like to think of myself as a master.

But Stain is good. Really good.

Only three people could ever beat me in it, and I defeated one of them multiple times.

However this guy is giving me trouble. I pushed him away and went fast on my offensive strikes.

My hair moved, forming two scythes that also attacked in sync. Stain grunted and slashed at the base of the two, making them drop to the ground.

He slashed again and I jumped away, only a second too late as the steel tore across my skin.

It stung as soon as the wind hit in and I landed in a crouched position.

Before he could lick it, I swept my leg and pulled his from under him.

As soon as he hit the ground I kicked the blade with my blood on it away. But he moved up quickly and ran his tongue over the deep cut on my leg.

My body seized immediately, unable to move. Damn it!

Stain looked down at me. "I have yet to decide if you are worthy of living. I'll figure it out after I dispose of your frie-"

He jumped up as fire was shot his way. I could feel the heat from my position on the ground.

"One after another. There are a lot of people getting in my way today." Stain grumbled.

I moved my eyes to the end of the alley. "Todoroki." I spoke. He's the one Izu called for? Well, it's more comforting, that's for sure.

He held his phone up on it's map, pinpointing our location. "Midoriya. You need to give more details in times like this. You made me late."

Yeah you're late. I'm frozen! It's so goddamn annoying. What the hell am I even doing here?

That's right, Iida. I'm so going to beat his ass when this is over.

"Why are you here? And you're using your left side." Huh? Didn't you call him here Izu?

Ah! You got the wrong number?! "Why? That's my line. It took me a few seconds to figure out what you meant since you sent just your location info. You're not really one to send that for no reason."

He covered the ground in ice, making sure to go around and miss me.

Stain jumped up to avoid it. He used some more ice to lift us away from Stain and he ran towards him.

"You meant that you were in trouble and to call for help, right? Don't worry. The pros will also get here in a few minutes." He shot fire towards Stain, who avoided it easily, but was forced further back.

Because of the fire, it melted the ice into a slope, sending the Hero, Izu, and me, sliding down and behind him with Iida.

Always the prodigy huh?

Well, he's saving our asses. "I won't let you kill these guys, Hero Killer." Eh, being so cool? Well, at least he seems better.

A lot better since the festival. "Todoroki, you can't let this guy see your blood!" Izu warned.

I struggled, trying to move, but my body wouldn't allow it. No, not my body. The blood inside. Wait, that means-

"I think he controls his opponnets' actions by ingesting their blood orally. That's how he got all of us."

Okay, that hurts my pride a bit.

"He sucks blood to keep people from moving. That's why he uses blades, huh?" I frowned slightly. What's wrong with blades?

Ah! There's my small blade, and two scythes on the ground still. I have yet to deactivate it, so they're still there. This could come in handy once this paralysis wears off.

"I can keep my distance and-" Stain had thrown a small throwing knife and it grazed Todoroki's cheek, making a small cut. He then seemingly appeared in front, another knife in his hand.

"You have good friends, Ingenium!!" He went to swing.

Tch.

My hair moved, forming a blade and shot over, blocking his strike from reaching Todoroki.

In his surprise Todoroki glanced at me.

Phew. That was close. Good thing I'm by his feet. Todoroki shot some ice and Stain jumped away.

"How? You should still be frozen." Stain asked.

I glared at him, not at all pleased he got me down like this. "Your Quirk controls our blood, making us remain frozen in place. However there is no blood in hair follicles." I told him. Todoroki pushed him back with fire and ice.

The ice he can cut down, but the fire he must avoid.

"Todoroki, sit me up." He kneeled down, doing as I told, still attacking with ice as he did. I formed a throwing knife and moved it up. "Tear it out." I demanded.

He hesitated, but grabbed the base and tore it out regardless. The blade fell to the ground with a clank and I waited, watching him fire both of the elements.

Two axes moved at the ends of my hair and picked up the blade. Concentrating, I threw it with precision, striking Stain's calf.

He grunted, faltering his foothold. Todoroki used that moment to strike him with ice.

It hit Stain roughly and flung him back. Alright.

I formed three more and Todoroki pulled it out for me. "Why are you three . . . why? Please stop! I've inherited my brothers name. I have to do it. That guys mine!" Iida grounded out.

"You inherited it? That's strange. The Ingenium I saw before didn't have that look on his face though. You've got a lot going on behind the scenes in your family too, huh?"

Todoroki built a wall of ice to obstruct Stain's view, but he broke it with ease and threw two knives into Todoroki's arm that was on fire, stopping his next attack.

Stain descended down, but not towards him. To the Hero.

Before he could strike though, Izu had jumped up and grabbed the back of his collar, slammed him into the wall of the building, and moved away from us.

"Midoriya!" Todoroki shouted after. "I can move normally for some reason now!"

Huh? I tried to move but my body wouldn't allow it. "A time limit?" Todoroki wondered. "No, that kid should've been the second last one he got. I can't move yet." The Hero told him.

I tried moving again, but this only resulted in my finger moving.

His Quirk is the digestion of our blood. So different blood types must have different limits.

Izu and I are both blood type O. Let's see, I got caught a couple minutes after Izu.

Stain elbowed Izu and he fell. "Get back Midoriya!" Todoroki called, sending ice their way.

Izu quickly got out of the way and Stain dodged. "Izu, our blood." I started. He nodded in agreement, keeping his eyes on the enemy.

"He takes in a person's blood to keep them from moving. Since I got free first I can think of three possible reasons. It could be less effective with more people, the amount ingested could affect how long it works, or there could be a difference in effectiveness based on a person's blood type!"

I grunted, my hand twitching. "It's the blood type. I'm positive." I told them, moving my fingers some more.

"Blood type? Miine is B." The Hero said, sounding pained and tired. "I'm type A." Iida informed. I sat up with some struggle. "O."

Stain smirked, looking at us with newfound interest. "Blood type? That's correct." He informed us.

Figured as much. I stood up, stretching my muscles. That bastard.

I'm not sure we can beat him. He's fast, he's strong, he's clever, and his swordsmanship is exemplary.

But we gotta try.

"I wanted to hurry up and carry those two out of here, but he can react so fast he can avoid fire and ice. I can't leave myself that open"

That's true. I picked up my sword from the ground and held it tight.

An idea formed in my head. "One of us should attack head on, Todoroki attacks from a distance, and the other protects Todoroki and the other two until help comes. That's the best formation, however neither of us can beat him one on one close range." I stated.

Izu and I exchanged looks. I held the sword.

I mean I might be able to, but Stain is as strong as Kei.

Green light sparked across Izu. Yeah, I gotta ask about his One For All upgrade afterwords.

We nodded at each other and lunged forward, towards Stain.

I slashed my sword, which he blocked with his. Izu appeared behind him and hit, but he jumped away. Izu and I withdrew.

Izu went wild, bouncing off the building so he couldn't get him.

Todoroki shot fire and ice as the two of us continued with our close range battle.

Stain has cut Izu's leg, making him fall against the building and lunged. I jumped between and blocked his sword with mine.

Izu's blood is on the blade.

Shit.

I leaned over and licked it off before he could and kicked him away and into Todoroki's flames.

He managed to get out, but his scarf and clothes are a bit burned. I spit on the ground and lunged forward, swinging my sword and clashing with his again.

"Stop. Stop!" Iida shouted. I continued to clash with Stian, my irritation rising. "Stop!"

"Shut up Iida!" I shouted. Throwing a blunt weapon at him.

I jumped up and over Stain to avoid his blade and punched his spine, making him wobble before jumping away to avoid Todoroki's ice.

"Iida, you moron! What the hell do you think you're doing? Revenge? Ridiculous. What you're doing is something I would do. If you're doing something I would then there's something seriously wrong with you!" I shouted.

What the hell is wrong with me? I'm so frustrated! I'm so irritated. Why am I this irritated?

"You can't go into the darkness. You don't belong here. Get out! Stop doing something that would bring shame to your brothers name! Knock it off already!"

I'm so irritated. I don't understand. But what I do understand is that I want Iida away from this hatred.

Stain dug a knife into my shoulder blade. Gritting my teeth I brought my knee up and slammed it into his stomach.

He coughed before Izu grabbed him and flung him into the wall.

This is so irritating!

"If you want us to stop get up! Look properly at what you want to be!" Todoroki shouted, firing more flames.

Izu and I lunged at Stain and struck, of course he dodged. He's good.

Tch. So annoying.

"Iida . . . Get out of the darkness!"
