Chapter 2

I glanced at All Might, the Symbol of Peace, to see steam coming off of him. Huh? "It might've been because I don't have a Quirk, but I'm always made fun of. Maybe that's why . . . I don't know. But I think saving people is super cool."

Steam covered All Might completely, and I can't see through it. "Uh . . ." I trailed off. Izu was still smiling, his eyes closed, head down. "Saving people with a fearless smile. I want to be the greatest hero, like you!"

The steam started disappearing and Izu looked up at All Might. However when the steam disappeared, a scrawny man with messy blonde hair and sunken in facial features stood in his place. "EH?!" I shouted as Izu screamed at the transformation.

W-What the hell?! "Y-y-you're deflating!" Izu screamed. I just stared at him. Such a drastic change . . . and this one isn't smiling stupidly.

What is going on?! "Wait, up until now . . . huh?! Fake? A fake?! You're so skinny!" Izu shouted. The man in front of us sighed. "I am All Might-" A lot of blood spewed from his mouth.

I jumped back as Izu screamed. "You know how the guys at the pool are constantly flexing and posturing? It's like that." He stated.

"No way!" Izu and I shouted simultaneously. "I-It can't be. All Might is fearless. He saves everyone with a smile . . ." I glanced at Izu who was having a hard time trying to wrap his brain around this.

So this is All Might? Staring at the man . . . he looks nothing like him! All Might sighed and looked off. "A fearless smile huh?" Huh? There's something about what his eyes said while he spoke those words.

All Might sat down, facing us. "Now that you've seen me like this young man, young woman, make sure you don't write about it online accidently."

Well I guess it is called a secret identity. But there's still something off about it. He lifted up his shirt and Izu flinched. On his side, is a nasty looking injury. It must have been done a long time ago, but it still looks terrible.

"It's an injury I got from an enemy's attack five years ago. Half of my respiratory organs were destroyed, and I lost my whole stomach. I've become emaciated from repeated surgeries and the aftereffects. Right now I can only work as a hero for about three hours a day."

Eh? So much damage . . . his health, his career . . . Izu looked fearful as well as worried. "That can't be. Five years ago? Was that when you fought Toxic Chainsaw?" He asked.

I sweat dropped. "Always the fanboy." I muttered. He glanced at me a second before back at All Might. "You're well informed. But a punk like that couldn't defeat me. This fight was not made public to the world. I asked that it not be made public."

He looked down, almost sorrowfully, before looking back at us. "I will save people with a smile! The Symbol of Peace cannot be daunted by evil."

He held out his hand and stared at it. "I smile to show the pressure of heroes and to trick the fear inside me." He looked back at us, more specifically Izu. "Pros are always risking their lives. I cannot simply say 'You can become a hero even without power.'"

My eyes widened and anger coursed through me. "You bastard!" I shouted. "It's alright Kiri-Nee." Izu's wavering voice stopped me. I glanced to see him looking down.

He's trying to put up a strong front. "If you want to help others, then you could also become a police officer." He said, standing.

I sneered. "This is why I hate heroes. Police officers risk their lives as well. That's what you heroes don't understand. You claim to do this to protect us, but you're only doing it for money and fame! You only look out for yourself just like everyone else!" I shouted.

He jumped at my screaming, staring at me in wonder as I glared at him. "Hero? There's no such thing!" I shouted. Feeling I tug on my sleeve, I turned to see Izu looking at me with sad, pleading eyes.

I made a pained expression but sighed, giving up on my yelling. All Might headed for the door and opened it before pausing. "It's not bad to dream. But you also have to consider what's realistic, young man."

I glanced at him. "Then you should quit too." He looked at me in surprise. I just gave him a cold, blank stare. "Realistically, what good are you if you're only useful for three hours." His eyes widened slightly and he turned, closing the door behind him.

"You shouldn't have said that to him." Izu said, staring at the ground. I glanced at him. He looks so crushed. It's to be expected. His hero, the man he always looked up to just stomped on his hopes and dreams.

At least let him keep his dream.

I looked at the city. "I don't care." I mumbled. It was quiet until a large explosion sounded. We looked over in the direction, where a large cloud of smoke was.

What? Another explosion sounded. "A villain! What hero will go to the scene?" Izu started to run for the door but stopped. Izu . . . He slumped. "Let's go home, Kiri-Nee." I followed him off the roof, down the stairs, and out the building.

I knew it was best not to talk to him right now. I can later, when he's not as fragile. But . . . "Izu, why are we headed to the scene?" I asked, as we neared the fire and group of on lookers.

He jumped in surprise. "Ah . . . I came out of habit without noticing." I stared at him. Sighing, I led the way so we could see more. "Come on, it doesn't hurt to look."

"Eh? Ah, wait!" He jogged up to me. "Tch. I can't see anything." I hissed. There are too many on-lookers. Izu craned his neck and gasped in horror. Huh?

I followed his actions and my eyes widened slightly. It's that villain! All Might must have dropped him. Huh? It looks like he has someone. I can't quite see who though. The person moved their head up and opened his red eyes.

Eh? Kacchan . . .

Izu ran out past me and the group, running towards the villain. People shouted at him to stop. I stared in awe and horror. Shaking my head I ran forward as well. "Izu! Kacchan!" I screamed.

Death Arms turned to me and reached his arm out to stop me. "Tch! Out of my way!" I shouted, jumping over him and running after Izu, who had thrown his bag, hitting the villain in the eye.

He tried to claw Kacchan out but couldn't. "Izu!" He turned to me. "Kiri-Nee!" He shouted, fear evident on his face. "Move away!" He immediately did as I said. "Stay back!" The villain shouted, throwing his arm my way.

I jumped to the side, kicked off the wall, went upside down and over his arm, and landed before running more. "Get your slimy hands off him!" I shouted. Faster. Faster! Faster!

He tried hitting me away again but I ducked under. Let go of Katsuki you slimy bastard! I then tackled him. As expected I went through, and hit Kacchan full force and we both flew out of him and hit the ground harshly.

I immediately moved him a bit. "Kacchan? Katsuki! Katsuki!" I said, shaking him. But he was unconscious. "Kiri-Nee!" Izu shouted. Huh?

I glanced back to see the villain reaching out towards us. Putting Kacchan under my arm, I stood and ran, avoiding his strike. I headed back towards Izu. Relief and awe in his eyes. I grabbed his wrist, pulling, and heading back towards the heroes and the crowd.

I have to get these two to safety. The idiot heroes were motioning us to run faster. "Give me back my cloak!" The villain gargled. I sensed his arm. I moved us to the side and evaded it.

"What were you thinking?!" I shouted at Izu, pulling him along. "My legs moved on their own! I don't know why!" Izu. Suddenly, All Might was in front of us, in his hero form. Eh?

I stared at him a bit. Shaking my head I ran behind him, dragging Izu with me, but stopped directly behind him because Izu did. "I really am pathetic." He said aloud. "All Might . . ." Izu spoke, amazement clear in his eyes as he blocked the villains strike. I don't even know when he did that.

"Even though I admonished you, I wasn't putting what I said into practice!" He tore the arm off. So easily. "Pros are always risking their lives!" Blood's coming out of his mouth. He's beyond his limit. Why?

Why is he fighting?! "Detroit Smash!" He punched. The wind pressure hit us, and everything around us harshly and I flew back, along with my idiot friends. We hit the ground roughly and continued to be flung back until I grabbed hold of loose cement.

Such power and force!

I held on for life with one arm, the other holding both Kacchan and Izu's shirts. The force didn't let up and it created incredible wind pressure that mimicked a tornado.

It finally died down and I sighed in relief, releasing their shirts. I looked up to see the villain in pieces around. He's still alive, no doubt, but that really did a number on him.

Something hit me. Looking up, I saw that the sky had darkened and rain began to fall. Hey, hey. He did all this, with one hit? Now I see why Izu is obsessed with him. This man . . . he's incredibly powerful, even with his injury.

The spectators cheered loudly for his victory. I sighed, laying on the ground. "Such a pain." I grumbled.

After that, heroes collected the scattered sludge, and safely delivered it to the police. As the press surrounded All Might, taking photo's, Izu and I sat in front of some of the heroes, listening to Death Arms and Kamui's lecture.

"There was absolutely no reason for you two to put yourself in danger!" Izu is sweating bullets. I rolled my eyes. "Shove it, muscle head." I said. This made him angry. "Don't talk to me that way! You could have been hurt!"

My temple throbbed and I stood. "Maybe I wouldn't have if you had been doing your jobs properly!" I retaliated. This made him angry. "I don't even have a Quirk and I still got farther then you and your idiot hero friends!" I shouted.

"Huh?! Learn some respect!" He shouted at me. "Make me!" I shouted back. Izu jumped between us, placing his hand up in front of me.

"Come on Kiri-Nee, it was our fault for doing what we did." I huffed, crossing my arms, turning a different way. "If it wasn't for us, Kacchan would have been killed because those idiots are useless. Come on Izu." I snatched his arm and stormed away.

I glanced at Kacchan. I want to talk to him, but some heroes are talking to him and some members of the press are taking photos and filming. "Kiri-Nee, why don't you check on Kacchan. I'll go home."

I turned to Izu. Holding up a finger to represent one minute, I let go and headed over to him. I ignored the press questions and crouched in front of him, ignoring the heroes as well.

"Are you alright Kacchan?" I asked worriedly. He looked up at me. "I didn't need to be saved by two Quirkless idiots." I smiled sweetly and quickly put him in a choke hold.

This brat! "Eh?! What was that?! Huh?! I didn't hear you right. I thought I heard the boy I risked my life to help talk badly of me. That's not right, right?!" I demanded, now laying him on his stomach and pulling his leg up painfully.

He yelled in pain and struggled. He then slammed his hand on the ground signaling tap out.

I released him and stood, placing my hands on my hips. "Your welcome you ungrateful brat." I hissed, turning back and taking Izu with me. Time to go home.

We walked in comfortable silence, the sun began setting. Izu sighed. "I wanted to apologize to All Might, but he was still getting interviewed." He spoke.

I sneered. "That loser? There's no need for you to apologize. If anything the idiot should grovel and beg for forgiveness." Izu sweat dropped. "Kiri-Nee . . . that kind of talk is the reason why people are scared of you."

I shrugged. Usually I'm pretty emotionless, not smiling, not shouting. The only way you'll usually see anything is if I'm with one of the boys. Depending on what's going on, I'm more reactive.

"Deku!" Huh? Kacchan? We turned to see him run our way.

"I never asked you for help! And you didn't help me! Got it?! I was fine by myself. You're a Quirkless failure playing without a full deck! Don't think you can look down on me! Are you trying to make me owe you?! Don't look down on me! You fucking nerd!"

He turned and stormed away. We sweat dropped. "Sometimes I don't understand that boy." I muttered. Izu laughed nervously. "Toughness."

I rolled my eyes and turned back. "Come on. Let's go." Izu followed my actions. Suddenly All Might ran in front of us from another street. "I am here!"

"AHH!" Izu and I screamed, jumping back. My eye twitched and my temple throbbed. "Can you make a normal entrance you damn hero?!" I shouted.

What is with him? "All Might! Why are you here? You were surrounded by reporters until just now." Izu asked. He merely laughed his signature laugh. "Getting away from them was a piece of cake!"

This guy. He struck a pose. "Why? Because I am All Might-ugh!" He transformed back and spewed out blood. Izu screamed at it.

I sighed, rubbing my temples. This guy . . .

He coughed a bit and wiped the blood off his mouth. "Young man, I come with thanks, a correction, and a suggestion. If you hadn't been there, if you hadn't told me about your life, I would've turned into a guy in a bodysuit who was all talk."

I blinked and pointed at him. "You still are." I said. Izu jumped and turned to me. "Kiri-Nee!" He shouted defensively. I shrugged and threw my hands behind my head.

All Might stared at me for a little bit before turning his gaze back to Izu. "Thank you." Huh? I see. "That can't be. It was my fault in the first place! I got in the way of your work and I said all those impertinent things even though I'm Quirkless."

Izu looked down sadly. "That's right. It was because it was none other than the timid, the non-caring, Quirkless duo, you two, at the scene that I was able to act."

Huh? Non-caring Quirkless? Well I guess he's not entirely wrong. "Top heroes have stories about them from their school days. Most of their stories have one thing in common."

One thing in common? "Their bodies moved before they had a chance to think." Like Izu.

But I was thinking, wait. Now that I think about it, the only thing that passed through my mind was Izu and Kacchan. My body moved on its own, my will to protect them stronger then anything.

I was still thinking.

Izu's eyes lit up, holding happiness, but he hung his head, as he began to cry. "Izu?" I looked at him worriedly. "That was the same for you, and you as well, right?"

I looked between the two, unsure of what's happening. "Yeah." Izu said. I didn't have to see him to tell that he's crying a lot.

So that's why you're crying. He fell to his knees, still crying. The wind blew, and cherry blossom petals fell. We looked forward to see the sun setting behind All Might.

The scene looked surreal, putting emphasis on what he said next. Fate is a funny thing after all. Sometimes, just sometimes, dreams can become reality. Even for Midoriya Izuku.

"You can become a hero."
