"BLAKE! IT'S TIME TO GET UP!" Aunt Skyler shouted from downstairs. After my parent's deaths, Aunt Skyler took me in. "Alright, I get it!" I said as I walked downstairs, "Morning kid." Uncle Jack said as I walked into the kitchen, "When are you gonna stop calling me kid?" I asked as I sat down, "Mayne when you start acting like an adult and stop obsessing with things that don't exist!" Uncle Jack said, "You trying to start another fight?" I said, "Ok you two that is quite enough for one morning." Aunt Skyler said. Aunt Skyler was a lot like Mom was, she's nice to pretty much everyone unless you piss her off that's when the claws come out, I still have nightmares about Black Friday 2016. Unlike Mom, she had blue eyes and the same chestnut hair. Uncle Jack was actually the cop who saved my life. "You ready for your ride along today?" Uncle Jack asked, "Wait that's today!" I said, "Yes it's today or is that a problem?" Uncle Jack said, "No it's fine." I said as I ate my breakfast.

"Well well well if it isn't our resident monster hunter," Jimmy said, "Tell us Blakey any luck killing Bigfoot yet?" He mocked, "Hey Jimmy it's been too long, how's the wife? Oh, wait she left you." I said, "Good to have ya back kid." Jimmy said as he ruffled my hair, "Goen out on a ride-along with your dad?" Jimmy asked, "Yeah I'm going with my uncle." I said, "What are you waiting for Blake go get the gear." Uncle Jack said, "Whatever you say, uncle Jack." I said as I walked off.

Uncle Jack and I drove around until he got a call about a possible B and E up at the old Woodhill mansion. It was around nine or ten when we got the call. "You stay here." Uncle Jack said, "Whatever." I said as he went up to the old dilapidated mansion. A few minutes later Uncle Jack came back with a girl in handcuffs, "Alright watch your head." Uncle Jack said, "Hi I'm Terra, Terra Sinclare." Terra said, "Hi Terra, I'm Blake Grey." I said, "Well Blakey boy mind letting me out of these?" Terra asked, "Can't if I did then I'd be back there with you." I said, "You really are gonna wanna let me out and soon." Terra said suddenly all four tires popped, "Damn it! you stay here and quit talking to her." Uncle Jack said as he got out of the car, "NO DON'T GO OUT THERE! Damn it!" Terra said as she kicked the back of my seat, "Hey, you need to go get him now!" Terra said, "Bad news you two, the spare tire's gone so we're gonna have to walk down to the main road." Uncle Jack said as he let Terra out of the back before I joined them outside. "Uncle Jack why don't you just uncuff her. I mean I doubt she'll run." I said, "Right, I swear I won't even make an attempt to run." Terra said, "Fine, but it's on you if she runs." Uncle Jack said as he unlocked the handcuffs around Terra's wrists, "Thank you." Terra said, "Alright kids let's go." Uncle Jack said.

We were walking to the main road. I noticed that Terra was acting strangely, it was almost like she was scared of something and I could tell it wasn't Uncle Jack that she was scared of. "Hey, are you alright?" I asked as I placed my hand on her shoulder, "Y-yeah I'm fine." Terra said curtly, "Ok well you're scared of something here so why don't you tell me what's up." I said, "You wouldn't believe me if I told you." Terra said, "Girly you could tell that boy you saw a damned dragon and he'd believe you." Uncle Jack said, "Thanks a for telling the cute girl my secret shame Uncle Jack." I said, "You probably want an explanation hugh?" I said, "Yeah just a bit." Terra said, "When I was eight my parents were murdered right in front of me. I was convinced that it was a monster that killed them. I was so convinced that I locked myself in my room for a week just researching every possible angle and eventually I figured out that it was a Windigo that killed them. I was obsessed with learning everything I could about monsters and demons alike." I said, "Sounds like what happened to me." Terra said, "My Dad was killed when I was three, I've been searching for his killer ever since I was eleven." Terra said as the clouds concealing the full moon parted, the light from the moon was bright enough that I could clearly see the old dirt road. I looked over at Terra so I could get a good look at her. Her long golden hair swayed in the breeze, the moonlight reflected brilliantly in her deep blue eyes. "Blake we need to run right now!" Terra said as she grabbed my hand and dragged me off. Uncle jack chased after us and before long we made it to the road, "It's coming!" Terra said suddenly an enormous snake slithered across the path. Its head looked like that of a horned viper, its body had large spines running parallel across its back angled at about a forty-five-degree angle, its body was almost entirely black. Despite us being out in the open and in far too much shock to move an inch the serpent made no attempts to come after us. "Basilisk," Terra said softly, "you've escaped your prison." She said as it vanished into the woods, "Hey there you three!" Jimmy said as he walked over to us, "Let me go take a look at your car and I have ya back on your way in no time. But till I get back feel free to keep warm in my car." Jimmy said as he walked out onto the path, "JIMMY NO GET BACK HERE!" Uncle Jack yelled, "What for jack there ain't nothin out here." Jimmy said suddenly the basilisk snuck up behind Jimmy and raised his head rearing its giant fangs for all to see before striking at Jimmy spraying his blood out into the woods, Uncle Jack reached for his gun but Terra stopped him from drawing it, "Don't you will only piss it off." Terra said. "Get in the truck now." Uncle Jack said, "Uncle Jack." I said, "I SAID GIT IN THE GOD DAMN TRUCK BLAKE!" He shouted, "Alright I'm going." I said.

"Well, you two are home late." Aunt Skyler said, "Not now Sky, Jimmy's dead." Uncle Jack said, "Oh my God." Aunt Skyler said in shock. I just went up to my room and went to bed.

<three days later>

"Hi, welcome to Road-Side Diner! I'm Terra, may I take your order?" Terra said, "Yes I'll have the who the hell are you special with a side of much-needed explanations." I said as I moved my menu away from my face, "Bobby I'm going on my lunch break!" Terra said as she walked off. A few minutes later she came back and sat out two burgers with fries, "So Blakey boy what did you wanna know?" Terra asked as she put a fry in her mouth, "Who are you really?" I asked, "My Name is Terra Sinclare, the adoptive daughter of Alex and Marie Sinclare. I don't know or really care who my birth parents are, I just want the thing that murdered my father dead and to mount its head over my fireplace." Terra said, "How do you know so much about monsters?" I asked, "It helps if you have a monster in the family or rather a family of monsters. My mother is a fairy, my older sister's an elf, and my father was an incubus." Terra said, "And you?" I asked, "Human as far as I know." Terra said as Bobby brought us some milkshakes and sodas, "How is it an incubus and a fairy well did the deed and made an elf?" I said as I took a bite of my burger, "They didn't, it's not possible for them to have had a child of their own seeing as a demon can't get a fairy pregnant or really anything pregnant for that matter. The only two things a low-rank demon like an incubus can have children with are other demons or humans." Terra said, "And the basilisk?" I said, "What about it?" Terra asked, "What's gonna happen to it?" I said, "Well when winter comes it'll more than likely go back into its prison where my sister will lock it back up for the rest of time." Terra said, "So no one's gonna kill it?" I said, "No one but your clinically insane uncle." Terra said as she dipped a fry in her milkshake before eating it. "Look I saw him heading towards the serpents territory this morning. We can go find his body or stop him if you want but do not get your hopes up and do not go off on your own got it." Terra said. 

Terra and I were heading to the Woodhill mansion when we heard a huge explosion, "UNCLE JACK!" I shouted as I sprinted towards the sight of the explosion. "H-he-hey there kid, I got the thing that killed Jimmy." Uncle Jack said as blood dripped from his mouth, "I-I loaded the bastard up with a dozen or so propane tanks and blew the bastard shy high." Uncle Jack said, "Y-you Jawsed the basilisk?" I said as I began to tear up, "Yeah but it got one last punch in at the very end." Uncle Jack said as he looked down I looked down as well and saw that the basilisk's fang was impaled in his stomach, "Blake do me one last favor and watch over your aunt for me. She's gonna need you now more than ev-er." Uncle Jack said as his final breath left him, "Blake." Terra said, "H-he's gone, h-he's really gone." I said in shock, "Blake this basilisk was a juvenile wich means Mama's gonna be pissed when she finds what's left of the corpse!" Terra said, "I-I can't just leave him here." I said, "Fine let's grab him and go." Terra said as she pulled the fang out of him so I could pick up the body.

"Blake Aaron Grey where the hell, have you been! Do have any idea what time it is young man!" Aunt Skyler said angrily, "I-I'm so sorry Aunt Sky, I'm so sorry." I said as she turned the kitchen light on, "I-is that blood?!" Aunt Skyler asked in shock, "Y-yeah uh it's uncle Jack's. He uh he went to kill whatever it was that killed Jimmy. In the end, he got it but it cost him his life." I said, "Blake that's not funny." Aunt Skyler said, "I'm sorry." I said. It took a few seconds for it to sink in, but she soon collapsed to her knees in tears.
