Hold up! I can breathe underwater?!

Doesn't mean he can. Knowing that I can't pull him above water, I dragged him towards the shallower end so his head will come up. That took up a lot of my energy because
1. He was very heavy
2. I don't even know how to swim and I'm learning under a lot of pressure.

As we got closer to shore, some good Samaritans helped pull us out of the water. My arms were heavy and I was super tired. A lot of people crowded round us, most with their cameras out.

"Give them space!"
I heard Amber shouting at them. Boy am I glad to see her. It was getting harder to breathe with all of them around.

A closer look at the boy showed it was Mouth Breath and he was unresponsive. I searched for his pulse but it was faint.

"Scar, you have to perform CPR!"
Amber said to me hurriedly as she tried to protect me from the crowd of people all trying to get videos of the live reality show instead of offering help.

Why me? Whyyyyy????

Closing my eyes and imagining Mouth Breath as Michelle Morrone or Zac Efron, I held his nostrils together with one hand, fixed my lips on his and blew air into his mouth while my other hand on his stomach did compressions.

Come on! Come on! You can't die here!

I repeated the process over and over while chanting the mantra in my head. Finally, he sputtered and began coughing up water as he inhaled.

I let out a sigh of relief as bystanders started cheering for me.

"You did it!"
Amber said to me excitedly as Mouth Breath kept looking around, trying to get his bearings.

Guess I just qualified to be a Nike ambassador. If you don't get it, I feel bad for you.

Saving a life, however, wasn't the trending topic on my mind.

Amber took me to a quiet part of the beach. The congratulations were already overwhelming. I only managed to save a boy from drowning.

It's no big deal so I don't even understand why they are treating me like a superhero. My clothes are wet and I am shivering like a wet chicken. If that makes any sense.

"Let me go get a blanket for you"
Amber said as she took a look at my pitiful state and set off running.
I closed my eyes and nodded, finding comfort in the sound of the waves crashing.

I just wish I could go home...

Opening my eyes to see what was taking Amber so long, I blinked as I took in the familiar surroundings of my room.

Wow! Never thought I'd admit it but thank you God for making me the daughter of a magical creature.

I took a hot shower and put on warm clothes. Going downstairs, I saw my aunt watching TV.

Her head snapped up once she saw me.
"Scar, I didn't see you come in. How was the party? "

Taking in a deep breath, I told her everything that happened up to the point of me appearing in my room. She just kept staring at me as if she saw a ghost.

"I left my car there so I'm going to try and get it."
I closed my eyes and waited.

I wish to go back to the beach.

I opened my eyes and there I was, still in my living room. Guess it didn't work.

By Monday the videos had gone viral. Everyone I walked past congratulated me, some even going as far as giving me pats on the back. Halfway through the day and I was fed up and ready to snap. Who even gave all these people the right to touch me?

Going to my locker to switch out my books for the next class, some random dude from the soccer team who I don't even know walks up to me and throws his arm over my shoulder.

Do I have a 'touch me' sign pasted on my back today?

Luckily for him, he's not sweating if not the story would have been different. Throwing his arm off and turning back to my locker to get my stuff, he whispers in my ear, "Can I call you Patrick? cuz you're a star!"

With a blank look, I switched out my books and walked away completely ignoring him. Holding back a groan, I heard him running behind me trying to catch up.

"Come on! You have to admit it was good."
He said, smiling so bright I was already having a headache. Everyone I saw today was smiling at me, even the teachers.

"Do I look like I'm in the mood? I'll advise you to turn around and leave because I am very close to kneeing you in the balls." I said blankly.

I left him there as I went for my chemistry class. Amber was already seated as I plopped into the seat beside her.

"Hey."
I said with my head down, not even bothering to look up at her.

"You had me worried. Where did you go?"

"I went home. I couldn't stay any longer."

"How did you get home?"

What's with the interview? I can't remember applying for a job.

"I used my car."
Lies! But she wouldn't know that.

"Of course you did..."
She said with a chuckle.

"I had Shane bring your car to school from the beach"
She said handing me my purse, phone and keys, all my stuff I left with her before I went 'swimming'.
"When you're ready, you'll tell me"

Let me tell you, getting caught in a lie is very embarrassing.

"Thanks"
I muttered as I took my stuff and the teacher started the lesson.
Can't believe I didn't notice my missing phone all weekend.

After the class, I fled to avoid any awkward conversation with Amber but I bumped into Claire on my way out.

"Scarlet, thanks for saving that guy at the party. My parents would have killed me if they had to deal with a lawsuit right now."
She looked really nervous and kept scratching her head as she spoke.

"uhh... No problem."
I said awkwardly as I hurried away from her as well.

A few steps later and I felt someone drag me into the janitor's closet. It was dark and as I tried to scream, a large hand clamped my mouth shut.

I started panicking.
This isn't how I want to die. I want to die in my sleep at old age.
Biting the hand of my captor, the person let out a grunt as I elbowed him/her in the face.

"Scarlet, relax! It's me"
The voice sounded familiar but I still couldn't place it.

"Who's me?"
I asked suspiciously.

"Me. Trent."

"I don't know any Trent. Tell me the truth before I ruin your chances of having children."

I was inching closer to the door to make my escape but I had to be very careful. This 'Trent' could be dangerous.

"You saved my life at the beach. Pulled me out, performed CPR. Ring a bell? "

"Oh Mouth Breath..."
I quickly put my hand over my mouth realizing what I had just said.

If he didn't want to kill me before, he definitely wants to now.

Surprisingly, he laughed.
"I just wanted to thank you for saving my life. I owe you"

"Is that what you had to pull me into a dark closet to say? And you're welcome. If not for you, I never would have learnt how to swim." Or breathe under water.

"So I was your guinea pig?" he said with a hint of amusement.
"And my ticket to fame." I added as we both laughed and stopped.

The darkness was making it creepy.

"I think I'll head out now."
I said as he nodded.
Checking to make sure the hallway was clear, I stepped out.

"You aren't so bad after all"
I said looking him up and down.

"And you're actually very pretty."
He responded.

"Whatever."
I laughed as I walked away.

"See you around."
I heard him shout after me.

"I hope not"

I kept rubbing my fingers against my forehead in an attempt to relieve the headache. School was over so I was heading to my car to go home but I heard a voice that made my heart skip.

"Cara!"
Looking in the direction of the voice, I looked at the only person that called me that hoping my mind wasn't playing any tricks on me.

"Fruit?"
