Chapter 13

"I thought I told you to stay hidden. You are not safe here."
A familiar voice said hurriedly shoving me down a dark hallway with different doors evenly spaced from one another, each looking eerily similar.

Dried bones hanging on the walls were arranged in pairs and crossed over each other to form an X.

A skull sat above with red markings that looked like blood.
From the stench saturating the hallway, it easily could have been blood.

The deep hollow meant for the eyes in the dried skull seemed to follow my movement and I couldn't shake off the feeling of being watched.

"Try not to make a sound and don't move."
The same voice leading me said as we got to a door not too far from where we had left.

After she did a special knock that echoed all the way down the corridor causing me to cringe, the door creaked open.

"Stay safe in here and only come out when I come back to get you."
The voice broke as the person sobbed softly.

I knew the voice. I had a niggling sensation as I tried to match the voice with a face. But I couldn't.

The hallway was too dark for me to even see where I was and who was leading me but I trusted the person.

Who could it possibly be?

Whoever it was turned to give me a hug. Her arms wrapped tightly around me like it would be the last time and I felt the need to reciprocate.

My shirt was getting wet probably from her tears and after a while, I couldn't get her to let go of me.

Her arms were stiff and her muscles seemed to have locked.

Removing my head from the crook of her neck where it had rested, I tried to look at her and get her to stop crying.

Touching the wet patch on my shirt that was dripping lower and most likely staining me, a chill ran down my spine as I brought my hand closer to my face.

Squinting in the dark, I couldn't make out the liquid on my fingers but I knew it was too thick to be tears.

Bringing my fingers to my lips, the metallic taste of blood instead of the salty taste of tears had my stomach lurching as I resisted the urge to throw up.

I tried yanking her away from me with great effort but to no avail.

Feeling around her body, my hands stopped skimming as I found two knives buried deeply into her skin.

One slightly tilted upward was lodged at the back of her throat and found its exit through her mouth.

The other forced to the hilt into her back drilled through her stomach to the outside world.

Running my hand down her stomach, the material of her dress was soaked with blood and a slight prick of my finger against the point of the knife drew blood.

Her body weighed down on me and I was not sure how much longer my legs would hold up. My heart quivered as I tried to force myself not to cry.

Whoever was clinging to me was someone I loved even though I didn't know who.

The weight suddenly dissipated as the body was flung off me and sent flying, coming to a halt as it crashed into the hard wall and fell to the ground with a loud thud.

Torches on the wall began to catch fire and light the corridor as straggly beasts, each emitting a different type of putrid smell approached me in their numbers.

Momentarily distracted as I turned to look at whoever tried to save me, a hand grabbed me by my neck flinging me to the end of the hall.

Pain jolted up my body as I landed awkwardly on my leg spraining my ankle and further ruining my chances of escaping.

With a limp, I tried to run away but hands from nowhere seized me by my sprained ankle, applying pressure and causing me to cry out.

The pain was so much, I tried to scream and cry at the same time causing me to choke on my own saliva.

I took a deep breath to calm myself so I could think logically even though I was already at a dead end.

I watched with my hazy vision as the body still impaled with the knives was dragged head down, the flowing blood drawing a circle near the crossed bones and skull.

One horrid smelling creature, slightly bigger than the rest with black bat shaped wings, did some weird voodoo causing me to be immobile as I was carried to the bloody circle.

I had no time to be disgusted that such a creature carried me when I saw where it was carrying me to.

An altar had been erected with chopped up human parts littered around it.

I felt myself being bundled and roughly placed on it, some severed fingers and toes lying beside me and a sharpened butcher's knife glinting out of the corner of my eye.

The sound of shoes tapping on the stone floors got closer. The smell emanating from the beasts was enough to suffocate me as I tried to listen to my heart beat to calm myself.

My death was near. That was sure.

My executioner dressed in a sky blue shirt, sleeves rolled up picked up the butcher's knife.

He had human skin unlike the beasts who looked like garbage to be recycled.

Even with the light, I could make out every detail about him except his face.

His shoulders were broad and his calloused hand gripped the knife even tighter as he walked closer to me.

Leaning close to me, he muttered words that made my body clam up.
Incantations in a foreign language that had been lost with civilization.

Apparently, someone had found it. Or it was never lost in the first place.

Starting from my toes, he chopped them all off leaving nothing but stumps. The sprained ankle was nothing compared to the excruciating pain from losing my toes.

Gathering them up in a see through bag, he proceeded to my foot and chopped that off too.

By the time he was done with my lower limbs, he proceeded to my fingers and hands. Torturing me excruciatingly slow and savouring all the blood and tears I could not stop from flowing.

Few minutes and many body parts later, I let out a heart wrenching scream I was sure could break glass, my voice piercing through the night as the tears refused to flow.

I had lost way too much blood and had over exerted myself. I found myself slipping in and out of consciousness only returning to find a limb missing and numbing pain.

By the third time I had returned, the beast had proceeded to removing my organs, saving my heart and lungs for last.

I could no longer scream but watch when the knife severed my head from what was left of my body and the glowing pearl taken from within me.

My life was slowly fading before my eyes as I saw a slideshow of all the things I had done since I came into existence, both good and bad.

I sighed as I let out my last breath.

At least, now I would know peace.

Imagine this scenario.

You're walking with your best friend who is a guy and a new girl walks up to both of you. The girl is pretty, fine face, banging body and her voice too is nice. Guys around are drooling not necessarily literally but you get the gist.

You don't know the girl from creation so she introduces herself and asks you for directions.
As she's walking away, your best friend whistles and turns to you.

You're expecting something reasonable from his mouth right? He now opens it to say, "Is her name Dora because I want to explore her"

Because in his head, he has made a punchline 😒

If you're reading this, I'm trying not to bang my head against the wall as I recall this because I know that's what you want. 🙂

Anyways,
Please vote!
Thank you❤
