Chapter 4: Paranoia
[Getting shit out of the way, I apologize for not updating. I might change this later? Maybe not, but I'm going to try to write more.]
Mabel rested her hand on your knee, looking at you with concern.
"Hey, hey hey! Calm down, Y/N! Why are you shaking?"
"You know I hate it when you're upset!"
"I just can't help it.. I have a bad feeling about it.."
You took a deep breath and weakly smiled at Mabel.
"Yeah, yeah. I'm sorry, I just.. had a bad memory." You shakily replied, glancing nervously at the journal.
Dipper looked at the page.
"..Alright. Anyways, you can sleep up here with us if you'd like, we'd can share!"
His face immediately redden.
"N-Not like sharing a BED! I meant, the room! I-I mean if you'd want too, that's ok, but I'm just implying that--"
"Bro! We got it! Jeez."
Mabel interrupted her brother, rolling her eyes.
You chuckled a bit, smiling. "Thank you, I really appreciate this."
"Also.. if you don't mind us asking."
You put your full attention on Dipper.
"What happened to you?"
You let out a shaking breath, glancing towards the book, your eyes narrowing slightly.
"He happened."
"He?" The twins ask in unison.
You point to Bill on the page.
"He.. he attacked my hometown, burning everything! He took everyone captive and killed them. Men, women, god, even children. However.. he didn't look like a triangle. He had a human body."
"Like possession?"
"Don't worry! I'll be safe, love!"
You gulped.
"It's Bill Cipher, now dear!"
"Ol' William is looooong gooone!"
"Your new ruler is here!"
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
"Y/N!"
"Y/N!"
"Y/N!"
"Nononono, ohmaigosh, please don't cry!"
Snapping out of your trance, you felt a warm liquid dripping down your face. You wiped your finger across your cheek, finding out you really were crying.
"I'm sorry.. it's not something I personally enjoy talking about."
"Y/N, if it's that hard to talk about--"
Dipper started.
"-- ,you don't have to tell us yet."
Mabel finished for her brother.
You shook your head, you HAD to get this out, it's only gonna get worse if you don't. "..It was my lover.."
"Lover?!" The twins exclaimed in unison.
You nodded, "William. That.. that demon took his body, it's so hard to hate him, when all I see is William. It's him yet.."
You felt Mabel embrace you tightly, her optimistic and cheerful attitude temporarily vanished. Y/N opened her mouth but closed it and hugged the slightly smaller girl, tears streaming down her face.
Dipper watched silently, staring at the page. A triangular sketch stared back at him, almost menacingly. He shivered and closed the Journal, just as the girls released each other from their hug.
"But, you kinda have to admit, it's cool."
"Mabel!"
"What?!" Mabel shrieked as her brother glared at her, "Think about it, brobro. Use that humgasaurs brain of yours! Ohmygod, it's JUST like my novels! Expect without the vampires! A love, torn apart by a demon, who you escaped from, now trying to rekindle that lost love, trying to find her soulmate!" She sighed, starting to daydream, "Why can't I have a story like that? But, with a vampire! A really, REALLY hot and sparkly vampire who's also very rich and has a dark past and—
"Ok, Mabel, we get it!"
Y/N smiled, feeling a sense of comfort around the twins as they spewed insults at each-other.
"Not every thing is about you, Mabel!"
"Yeah, well— you're ugly!"
"We're twins!"
"Well, you're the ugly twin!
"What did you say?!"
"Ugly twin, ugly twin! Dipper is the ugly twin!"
"At least I don't constantly douse myself in glitter and glue everyday!"
"OOOHHOHO, THAT'S IT!"
"Ok, ok, calm down!" Y/N laughed, breaking the two up, Mabel was literally about to tackle her brother if you hadn't stepped in.
"How about you guys show me around town?"
Dipper and Mabel looked at each other before grinning, both grabbing one of your hands,
"That sounds good, we'll show you our hangout spots!"
"OH! I'll introduce you to Grenda and Candy and Wendy, if we have time, and—!"
You had tuned her out but you were happy, smiling and laughing with the twins.
They had taken you around town, introducing you to a few people, Mabel had taken you shopping for clothes as your dress was dirty and torn. She also offered to stitch it up for you, which you were extremely grateful for. Dipper had shown you more of Journal 3, telling you about all the monsters and mysteries of Gravity Falls, while you three were walking at the edge of a forest. It was so peaceful, until a small group of gnomes had chased after you all, causing you, Mabel and Dipper to flee back to the Shack.
You liked Soos, Wendy and Grunkle Stan. Soos was very thoughtful and kind, while clumsy he had always asked to help you. Even he broke it in the first place.
"Yo, girl dawg!"
"Yes?" You tilted your head at the nickname but brushed it off.
"Do you need help with the microwave?" He motioned towards the machine as you were
heating up some food.
"Ah, no. Thank y-
"I'll help you with the microwave," Soos took his screwdriver, took the panel off and started tinkering.
"Soos, really, this isn't necessary-"
*POP!* *BOOM!*
"..."
"..."
"..."
"Can I help you fix the microwave?"
Wendy was literally, to you, the exact definition of being a cool teenager. Plus, she was the closest to your age, minus Soos, so it was nice to be able to talk to another in your generation of sorts. She sometimes took you to a spot of the shack's roof to chill and talk.
"—so than, I broke up with him!" Wendy exclaimed, crushing her empty soda can and kicking it, the can hit a tree which startled some birds.
"What a jerk!"
"Right?! Like, he couldn't even shoot a TEXT towards me? Ugh, whatever, I'm sooo over it."
Wendy exhaled, plopping down into her seat, grabbing another can and popping it open, taking a big chug of it.
"That kinda reminds me," you looked towards her, "shouldn't you be working?"
Wendy blew a raspberry, laughing, "Nah, Stan is too lazy to care if I'm actually working or not. He's probably in his office, counting bills and junk. Besides he still pays me so.."
Both of you looked at each other in silence before bursting out in fits of laughter.
Stan reminded you much like your own father, but 10x more cheap.
"Ey, uhhh.. what-ya-mc-call-ya!"
"Y/N?" You groaned with a playful tone, smiling towards the older male.
"Newbie! Right! Listen, newbie," Stan threw his arm around you, causing you to laugh as you already know he had a plan, "You see that kid over there?" He pointed to Dipper who was talking to Soos while restocking a shelf, "I need you to distract him for, like, five minutes. Ka-pech?"
You nodded and gave him a thumbs-up, before walking over to the slightly younger boy.
"Hi Dipper!" You exclaimed, making said boy jump slightly before looking at you.
"O-Oh, hey Y/N!"
"Hey, girl-dude!" Soos waved.
"Hi Soos, um.. Dipper! What are you restocking?" You questioned, sneaking glances at Stan who seemed to be aiming something at Dipper.
"A-Ah, just some old snow globes and hats for the Mystery Shack. Funny story, that's how I got my hat right here because, you see, me and Mabel were running from a pack of gnomes and one jumped on me and started eating my hat so I took out a golf club and started hitti-"
"BA-ZING-GA!"
"Huh- GAAAH!" Dipper yelped as a coconut cream pie was shot at his face, causing him to fall back into Soos who easily caught it.
Grunkle Stan was hunched over the cash register, laughing to his heart's content, "Hoooo, boy! Newbie! I should give you a promotion!"
"But, I don't work h-"
"Exactly why I'm not giving you one!"
The Pines family, plus Wendy and Soos, made you forget all your troubles as you now entered a solid month of being with them.
Well.
Almost forget them.
Every night, you'd either have two of the same dreams. One where you're with William and, no matter where you are or how much you plead, it always ended in him leaving for the mountains once more.
The second one was the dream you dreaded with every fiber of your being. It's a dream where you and that demon in a room together. At least Y/N assumes he's with her, as most of the time all she hears is his voice whispering to her. Sometimes, he'll be holding her in his lap while she struggles in fear. He'd whisper into her ear, demanding her whereabouts but Y/N would always deny, enduring the terror until she could wake up.
You said goodnight to everyone and closed the door to your small but cozy room. Grunkle Stan had allowed you to sleep in a old, abandoned room they found a few weeks before your arrival. The twins and Soos helped clean it up for you, making it cozy and warm.
After changing, you sat on the couch in the room and pulled the blanket to your chin, taking a deep breath. 'You're strong, Y/N. Show that bastard that he never should've messed with you or your lover.' Soon, your mind was filled with memories of your dear lover, planting a smile on your now sleeping face.
[Incase I don't update this, I hope you all are well! Until then, my frightening little sinners!]
