chapter 10:Training Day

I woke up the next morning to Shard sleeping on my chest. Wait...why is she sleeping on me when Star is her trainer? I sighed and picked her up. She opened her eyes and stared at me as I placed her on my pillow. I stretched and got ready for the day. Star came into my room about thirty minutes later.

"Hey Sharon, have you seen Shard?" She asked.

"Yea, she decided to sleep on my stomach. She's on the bed." I tell her. She comes in and picks Shard up.

"Great, now I just need to find Thunder?" She said as she looked around.

"Try the tv in your room." I told her. She nodded and ran out of my room, Fang running after her.

"Well those four are energetic this morning. I guess that's a good thing since they are training today. I may even do training with my Pokemon. I think Glacier could use some work." I decided on a plan for what me and Glacier can do. I left my room and met Star by her door.

"Did you find Thunder?" I asked her. She nodded.

"In the tv like you said." She grinned. I sighed.

"Let's go find Lyra. It's time training began. Don't you think?" I asked her. She nodded and walked to the main entrance. Lyra wasn't there. Where is she?

"Oh...Sharon. Lyra is waiting for you out back by the battlefield." Nurse Joy told us.

"Thanks." We left the center and walked around back. The center was beside the lake, so we had a nice lake view. Lyra was sitting on the grass with her Houndoom laying beside her. She looked so relaxed. Her Houndoom noticed us first and she nudged Lyra's shoulder. She opened her eyes and looked our way.

"Ah, there you are. Are you ready to begin?" She asked us. Star nodded. I let those two do what ever they want.

"You guys train together. I'll be training alone."I told them.

"Alright. If you want to train with us at anytime, just say so." Lyra replied as she stood. I nodded and walked over to the edge of the lake. I grabbed the familiar ice cold pokeball. I tossed it up and Glacier landed beside me.

"Ok Glacier. Today we are going to work on ice beams power. Let's see how much of the lake you can freeze now."

"Gla!" She said happily. She turned toward the lake. She began to charge up her strongest ice beam. She releases the beam and freezes about one third of the lake. "Nice job. By the end of our session, let's try to freeze half the lake." I rubbed her head. She nodded and we continued.

Star Pov.

"Ok Star, who are you going to start training first?" Lyra asked. I thought for a moment. Shard was ok in battle, but I want to train her closer to dusk. Thunder is good for now.

"I'll train Fang first." I told her. Fang jumped at my side. She seemed ready. Shard watched by my side as she waited for her turn.

"Alright then, I'll use my Houndoom then." Lyra said as her Houndoom stood from her spot under the tree. Fang ran out in front of me, ready for my commands.

"I guess We'll start things off with Water Gun." I told Fang. She nodded and began to build water in her maw. Houndoom prepared herself for the attack. Fang shot her attack and Houndoom jumped to the left, dodging the shot.

"Fire fang Houndoom." Lyra calmly told her Pokemon. Fire filled her maw. She charged toward fang, mouth wide open.

"Quickly use water gun!" I commanded. Fang quickly shot water at Houndoom, hitting right within the maw. The fire was extinguished and Houndoom began to cough.

"Houndoom, use flamethrower!" Lyra said slightly agitated. Houndoom quickly turned toward Fang and puffed out smoke. She looked back toward Lyra.

"It seems Fang's water gun stopped your Houndoom from using her fire type moves." I grinned.

"Yea you managed to leave me with one move. Houndoom use crunch!" She replied. Houndoom glared at Fang and ran toward her.

"Quickly dodge then use scratch!" I told her. Houndoom bit down as Fang jumped up and barley missed the attack. She then landed on Houndoom's back and began to scratch. Houndoom tried to shake her off, but she held on tight.

"Houndoom shake her off then use crunch!" Lyra yelled. Houndoom shook more violently. Fang was flung off and dazed slightly. Houndoom turned and bite Fang's arm.

"Fang use water gun!" I yelled quickly. Fang shot a powerful attack right at Houndoom's face. She let go and stumbled back. "Now use bite!" Fang ran at Houndoom and chomped down hard on her front right leg. She tried to shake Fang off, but she held on strong.

"I must admit, you are a good trainer and you already share a strong bond with Fang." Lyra complemented.

"Thanks." I grinned. Lyra grinned back at me.

"Houndoom use crunch." She said calmly. She looked toward Fang and bit he shoulder hard. I think to hard. Is that blood?! Lyra noticed this to. "Houndoom stop!" She let Fang go and licked her shoulder to say sorry.

"That's enough for now Fang. Come here." I told her. She ran over to me. Luckily I carry a first aid kit. I dabbled the blood away and wrapped her shoulder in a bandage.

"Houn...." Houndoom wined. Lyra patted her head.

"Don't worry girl, it was an accident." Lyra comforted her gloom Pokemon. Fang walked over to Houndoom.

"Totodile!" Fang said then hugged Houndoom's leg. She lowered her head and licked Fang's head.

Sharon Pov.

Glacier quickly mastered ice beam. She could now freeze the whole lake. I was so proud of her. We were now resting and watching Lyra and Star train. Glacier sat on my lap as we saw how strong Fang is. She lasted pretty long against Lyra's Houndoom, but the battle was cut short by an accidental puncture wound.

"Gla..." Glacier said as she watched the forgiveness Fang showed Houndoom. I rubbed her head as the next battle began. A Pidgeot versus Rotom. This could be good.

Star Pov.

"Alright who do you want to train next?" Lyra asked. I grabbed Thunder's pokeball.

"I'm gunning to work with Thunder now." I replied as I threw his pokeball up. Lyra nodded and grabbed another pokeball from her bag. She threw it high into the sky, releasing her huge Pidgeot. He caught his pokeball in his beak and landed beside Lyra, giving her the pokeball.

"Good boy." Lyra said as she stroked his head feathers. "Now let's start." She grinned. My first fight against a flying Pokemon.

"Thunder use Thundershock." I started this fight off. Pidgyot took off into the air, avoiding the small bolt.

"Pidgeot use wing attack." Lyra said. His wings began to glow white.

"Quickly use Thunderwave!" I yelled. Thunder shot of a small static attack that stopped Pidgeot's attack. "Use Thundershock again!" Thunder sent another bolt of lightning and hit him hard. Pidgeot fell to the ground with swirls for eyes.

"Wow! Thunder doesn't really need training it seems." Lyra said amazed. I just nodded with my mouth open in awe. Fang tugged on my pant leg.

"What is it Fang?" I asked her. She ran out in front of me. "Do you want to have another battle?" She nodded.

"I'll be her opponent." Sharon said as she and Glacier walked over to the battlefield.

"Alright, I did want to fight one of your Pokemon." I grinned. She nodded and threw up a pokeball. Fire erupted from it and her Typhlosion landed in front of her.

"Scorcher, it's time for you to play." Sharon grinned. Fang growled at Scorcher as fire spiked from his flame ports on his neck.

"Alright Fang, use water gun!" I started the battle.

Sharon Pov.

Dodge it then use Flamewheel! I told Scorcher. He nodded the jumped up as the water ht the ground. He spun around in the air as fire poured from his ports. He landed and shot forward.

"Dodge it quickly then use water gun again!" Star yelled. Fang jumped to her left and shot a ball of water at Scorcher's back, soaking his flame ports.

"Fine, use flamethrower!" I yelled. His maw filled with fire.

"Use water gun!"Star command. Scorcher lets his flame loose as Fang let loose a stream of water. Her water gun was pushing Scorcher's flame back. It soaked his mouth once the flame stopped.

"Use brick break! I told him. We are only down to one attack now. Since he forgot focus punch for fire blast. Scorcher's paw began to glow white. He ran toward Fang.

"Use scratch Fang!" Star yelled. I was confused. Why didn't she dodge? Scorcher's fist made contact with Fang's claws. They were locked together. "Use water gun now!" I was caught off guard. She shot water right in Scorcher's face. He flinched then used his other paw to strike Fang's stomach. She flew back and landed on her back.

"Fang!" Star yelled. She stood up growling and glaring at Scorcher. Shard watched her carefully. She began to glow with a dim white light that began to grow. "Fang!?" Her whole body was enveloped by the light. Her body began to grow and change. The light faded and Fang was completely different.

"Croconaw!" Fang yelled. Star brought out her pokedex.

"Croconaw the big jaw pokemon. Once Croconaw has clamped its jaws on its foe, it will absolutely not let go. Because the tips of its fangs are forked back like barbed fishhooks, they become impossible to remove when they have sunk in. Moves known, water gun, ice fang, bite and slash." The device said.

"Wow Fang! I can't believe you evolved!" Star squealed. Fang nodded. "Alright, let's try using slash!" Fang glared at Scorcher and charged with claws glowing white.

"Use brick break quickly!" I said as the battle resumed, but Fang's speed increased and she had slashed before Scorcher could act. Scorcher stumbled back shocked from her increased speed and strength. Scorcher' spas began to glow white and he charged at Fang.

"Use water gun!" Star commanded. Fang shot her water gun before she could get closer. Scorcher fell to the ground, swirls in his eyes.

"What?! Fang has gotten so much stronger with one evolution?!" I said shocked. Shard ran over to Fang and they cheered together.

"Let's go ahead and heal everyone then eat dinner." Lyra suggested. I nodded.

"Sure I'm sure Fang wants to rest." Star said. We went back into the Pokemon center. Our Pokemon were healed thirty minutes later. We then went back outside to sit by the lakeside to eat. We let all our Pokemon out. Shiner and Lapras floated by the edge of the lake. Scorcher ate beside Fang and Meganium. Thunder stayed close to Lightning. All my other Pokemon mixed with Lyra's other Pokemon.

Once we finished dinner we watched the sun begin to sink under the horizon.

"Hey Lyra?" Star asked.

"What? She replied. Star was stroking Shard's head.

"Could we start training again. I want to work with Shard before we turn in for the night." She said. Lyra nodded.

"Alakazam, would you like to be Shard's opponent?" Lyra asked her psychic Pokemon. He nodded. She returned her other Pokemon except her Meganium. I returned my Pokemon except Scorcher. I sat by the lakeside with Scorcher resting his head on my lap.

Star Pov.

"I'll let you start this time." I told her. She nodded.

"Use psycho cut." Lyra started. Alakazam's spoons began to glow magenta.

"Dodge then use bite!" I quickly told her. She rolled forward under the magenta energy. Shard then bit his left arm.

"Throw her off." Lyra commanded. He swung his arm and threw Shard against a tree. She slid to the ground and glared at her opponent.

"Use tackle then bite!" I told her. She stood up shaking slightly then ran toward him. She rammed into his stomach the bit one of his whiskers. He fell backward and landed on his back.

"Use psychic!" Lyra yelled. Alakazam's eyes began to glow blue. A thin blue aura surrounded Shard and she yelped in pain as she was raised into the air. She was thrown into the lake. She swam to the edge and climbed out. The dirt covering her body was washed away, revealing a tan colored crescent moon on her forehead. She growled at her opponent and the moon on her forehead began to glow white, spreading over her body.

"Shard?! Your evolving too?!" I said shocked. She grinned as the light enveloped her. The light vanished revealing the extent of her changed. A pure black body blended in with the night landscape. Red eyes glared at the Alakazam. Yellow rings glowed and ring on her forehead wasn't closed but showed the crescent moon.

"Umbreon!" She yelled at her opponent. I brought out my pokedex.

"Umbreon the moonlight Pokemon. When exposed to the moon's aura, the rings on it's body glow faintly and it's filled with a mysterious power. Moves know, bite, quick attack, dark pulse and tackle." The device said. I stared at Shard.

"Alright Shard! Let's use Dark Pulse!" I shouted. A ring of dark purple aura appeared around Shard. She released the aura causing it to hit Alakazam, making him faint.

"Well that was eventful. Let's head inside to heal our Pokemon then head to be." Lyra said as she returned her fainted friend. I nodded and we headed inside. Shard was healed within ten minutes. Alakazam on the other hand had to stay overnight. Today was an awesome day. Shard slept at the foot of my bed, Fang was on a pillow on the floor and Thunder went into the tv. All were fast asleep. I finally fell asleep.
