Chapter 6
It had been only days but it felt like weeks. I needed to find her. That wonderful friend of mine, SHE. I know Sava told me to wait for her but I couldn't. I opened the door to my small apartment and stepped into the sun-warmed air. Our time apart was tearing me apart.
I took the steps three at a time and set into a fast rhythmic pace. I lived several miles from the castle so this was a tedious venter for me.
I sighed. This pace was nothing to me, or my pretty little albino. Sorry it's a joke only for Sava and me. Some vagrant cursed at me as I passed its ally, and another weakly threw a handful of muck in my general direction. I was nimble and bounced out of the way. I started to hum quietly as I carried on, it was certainty a long way for me to go.
The day started to become gloomy as the sun set, it oddly reminded me of Killian. Killian was Sava's oversized pet reptile bird. I mean I cant possibly be jealous of a feathered, steam releasing, stinky breathed beast. Well to tell the truth I am. Killian lives with Sava and even gets to sleep at the foot of her bed. Ok so Killian wasn't quite so lucky as I said, because her royal majesty Savahna kicked in her sleep but oh well.
Good thing I don't feel pain.
Well like the pain others feel. I can still feel the jolt in a friends legs when they jump and land wrong and I can still feel my hand burn if another's gravitates too close to the stove top. But I don't feel my own pain for some strange reason.
I sighed yet again. My mind endlessly wandering like always. I had the strangest connections between things.
I stopped briefly at a fountain and took several deep draughts of water before finding some food at the southern Bazaar. After a quick and rather light lunch I began my fast paced move to the towering Erabell Castle.
Soon I reached the high polished gates of the upper class wall. Four men, two on either side of the gate, wore well-polished armor with a blue sigil of two bowing griffins and an arrow in its center. I tried not to gag as the men glared at me, after all I was only a small woman. Or so they saw.
"Yeth be hen for?" One from the right said with boredom.
I narrowed my eyes at his unsettling southern accent. "I'm just passing through to see a friend." A bit cold was my voice, but oh well.
"If yae have a queer temper then yae canth pass." Responded the same guard.
I snorted like an animal, "Not a sapphire solder will tell me what I can and cant do. Epecaly from a ninny who cant speak my tongue correctly." At that two drew their swords and the one with the accent hefted a spear. I smiled rather innocently at them. "What would the Onyx Princess say if you gut her friend?"
All four before me lowered their weapons and started to bark in laughter. "Onyx Princess? Don't make me laugh! You'd mean that shame to the kingdom! You hear this Captain?" One bellowed up and another solder peaked a well-polished helm above the ramparts.
"Stop tormenting Nïd'dem!" Well I guess Trent would remember me. I was at one point his unwavering servant until he was demoted. He waved his pail hand at me and remarkably the four at the gate seemed to get the message.
I smiled like the blinding sun as the black bars were moved and I was ushered forth. I sauntered past Mr. southern accent guard and into the wealthy part of the city.
It took several blocks before Trent found me again. "Why?" was all I said. He knew what I meant but instead of speaking he slipped a cold steal glove into mine. Three more blocks we walked like that.
On the forth he cleared his throat, "So your to visit Savahna?" I simply bobbed my head. "It must of taken a very long day to just come here."
"Yes and so what? Ask the real question."
Trent slowly turned his head to look at me. "Why honor her?"
A small smile on my part, "She is lonely and she pays me good." My words were clipped at the end. As I was stuck in my "mortal" body I had to find work, so to see my beloved Sava I had waited on a young lord.
"Yes sorry about that. My family wasn't all to thrilled either. Why honor our shame?"
She spoke about Sava. "Why not? She is a nice person once you get past the black clothing and hostile looks."
"And Killian."
"Yes, and Killian."
