CHAPTER FIVE
the fate of the universe

WHEN KENDRA STOOD in front of the cameras, her face smiling bright, no one would have known that just five minutes before, Tony would tell her that she's a Stark now and that she would be attending Midtown High, home of the tigers and attended by the one and only Spider-Man.

"This is Kendra Stark!" Tony introduced, "back in two thousand and two, I had a small fling with one of my interns, later on she moved on but went with someone who I now present to you today!"

The press ate it up as Tony rested his hand on Kendra's shoulder. It helped that she had similar features with Tony, dark, wavy hair, short stature. She had her mother's eyes.

Kendra smiled and waved to cameras as Tony looked to Pepper.

"The floor is open to questions," she spoke and people soon leaned closer, trying to get their words in.

"One at a time, you!" Tony pointed to a dark haired woman.

"Who was the intern?" She asked.

"We wish to hold that information for her privacy, any other questions about her her mother's identity?" Tony asked, pointing to a man.

"Where will Kendra be attending school?" He asked.

"Considering the fact that we don't want unnecessary attention on her school, we disclose that information as well," Tony spoke.

"Times up!" Pepper announced and Kendra and Tony left the room, high giving each other after the doors were shut.

"Okay, so tomorrow, you'll go in, keep an eye on Peter as well as making sure he doesn't do anything stupid like last time," Tony spoke and Kendra chuckled.

"He's a vigilante, Tony, I cant stop him from doing what he loves," she chuckled. Tony only smiled and guided her away.

"I wanted to show you something," he spoke as he took her to his office.

On the mannequin before her was a beautiful suit. It was a fabric suit with an owls head for the chest piece, it had similarities to Natasha's suit and his own. She circled around it and gasped at the two holes in the back for her wings.

"Tony!" She spoke softly and smiled, "this is beautiful!"

"Well an avenger needs a suit, what are you supposed to wear when you're called for?" He asked and Kendra brightened up.

"Does that mean I'm a part of SHIELD?" She asked, "because I have no fighting knowledge."

Tony blinked and shook his head. He was about to say something until a tap on the window stopped the conversation. They turned to see Zeus in the window sill, making Kendra gasp and walk over.

"That window doesn't open," Tony spoke and Kendra nodded.

She leaned close and cupped her mouth against the window.

"Go to the front doors!" She yelled and Zeus flew out. Kendra ran out to the front doors. She shivered at the cold temperatures and stuck her hand up, waiting for Zeus to grab a hold.

She smiled when he did and she brought him inside, seeing Happy walk over.

"This the guy?" He asked and Kendra nodded.

Happy pulled out a small collar-like lanyard with a badge on it.

For the love of Athena, he is not putting that around my neck, Zeus spoke and Kendra snickered.

"You have to Zeus, this is how you can go in and out freely," Kendra spoke and held her open hand out, taking the lanyard and she gently got it around his neck, adjusting it to where it wouldn't slip, "let me know if it ever gets too tight."

Zeus didn't say anything after, letting Kendra take him to Tony. She smiled as Tony snickered at the badge Zeus had over his neck. Making Kendra begin to laugh. Zeus looked to her and narrowed his eyes.

"It's cute!" Kendra defended herself and he shook his head.

"So you have no knowledge on any form of fighting?" Tony asked and Kendra shook her head, "not even self defense?"

"My mom gave me pepper spray, she couldn't afford to take me to any fighting lessons and she didn't even know any fighting techniques," Kendra shrugged, "my dad did, but he's dead to me."

Tony only nodded and looked to Zeus.

"I don't suppose you know how to train her in anything?" Tony asked.

Tell him I can teach you how to use a sword and shield and some stuff that the Greeks did back in the battle of Troy, Zeus spoke and Kendra gasped.

"He said he can train me like a Greek soldier, sword and shield too!" Kendra spoke and Tony nodded.

"I'm still going to get you a trainer to fill in the gaps, Happy most likely," Tony spoke, walking over to his desk, "can we talk about the fate of this universe real quick?"

Kendra looked to Zeus and opened the door.

"You know how to get to my room," she spoke and Zeus flew off.

Kendra looked back to Tony as she sat at a chair that faced his desk, she pulled the chair up real close and sat down, getting comfortable.

"There's a lot that I cant tell simply because I don't want to destroy this universe," Kendra spoke and let her mind race trying to think of things that she could release and feel safe.

"Well, can you tell me whose coming?" He asked.

"If I did, I know you'll do something to try and prevent him and then accidentally send out a signal him and make him come sooner," Kendra spoke, "there is someone I need to speak to, you can't know who he is yet, but he's a good guy, he'll be able to tell me what I can say that won't hurt us."

"Well," Tony sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose, "alright, you can do it after school tomorrow, he's in New York?"

Kendra only gave him a nod.

"I'll send you out with a map," Tony spoke and Kendra raised her hand.

"I have the address memorized, I'll use the navigation app on my old phone," Kendra pulled out the cracked, beaten up phone she managed to keep on her from when she first crashed.

"Alright, you call me if things go wrong and I'll send Peter to get you or I'll get you myself," Tony spoke. Kendra stood up and walked over to him.

"Thank you for letting me stay with you, and for the whole adopting me thing," she smiled and Tony shrugged it off.

"Don't worry about it, okay?" He spoke and stood up. Kendra held her arms out and the two hugged, making her smile.

"Now, go get ready for school tomorrow and then come out for a meeting and dinner," Tony spoke, patting her back before they parted.

"Alright, see you," She responded and picked up the mannequin in the middle of the room, tucking it under her arm and left, heading for her room and shutting the door.

She set the mannequin down next to Zeus' bird stand. Kendra took a step back and looked around her room, it was big enough to fit her living room and kitchen in, which shocked Kendra. Her room was way smaller than most and she never thought much of it until now. Her bed didn't need to be lofted now that she has space for ten queen sized beds in her room. She didn't even know what to do with all the extra space. Kendra changed her clothes, remembering Happy taking her shopping the day after Dr. Cho checked her out and fixed her dizziness problem.

Tony has ordered a bunch of furniture for her and got express shipping so that was a bonus to a luxury life.

Kendra sat on the bed, looking to Zeus and gave a small smile.

I have a gift for you from Zeus and Athena, which by the way, the real Zeus wasn't happy with the name you gave me but he's not going to do anything about it, Zeus spoke and Kendra nodded.

In a matter of seconds, a blinding flash of light startled Kendra, making her cover her eyes and wait for the light to pass. She finally looked and before her feet was a shield and a sword in its sheath. Kendra gasped, leaning forward and picking up the sword, unsheathing it to see that it was pitch black.

"Greek Hoplite," Kendra spoke monotonously, making her shake her head, "How did I know that?"

The dizziness was your mind expanding with the wisdom and battle knowledge of Athena, Zeus spoke and Kendra nodded.

"That's going to make school easier, right?" Kendra asked.

It should, Zeus spoke and Kendra chuckled, walking over to her mirror and got into a battle stance with the sword. She finally noticed the feather tied around the tang in a golden thread. Kendra gasped.

"Is this the thread that Ariadne blessed Theseus with?" Kendra asked, turning to face Zeus.

That's actually a life thread, cut from the three fates, Zeus answered. Kendra looked down at the thread.

"Whose life was it?" Kendra asked

The first person we tried to make a warrior, it didn't work as planned, its a reminder to you that although you have heightened abilities, you're still human and there is a limit that you can reach, Zeus spoke and Kendra faced him.

"This is beautiful, thank you, Zeus, tell them that, truly," Kendra spoke and she picked up the shield, seeing that it had Medusa's face.

"Is this- the Aegis?" Kendra asked and looked up at Zeus once more, "they must really like me I mean, this is the Aegis!"

They love you, Zeus spoke, you've brought them a lot of honor in how graceful you've been about this.

"So I'm guessing they didn't see when I fell out of bed and then crash landed in the front lawn of Tony Stark?"

No, they didn't, Zeus spoke and Kendra chuckled.

"Good, because that was embarrassing."
