Team 7 - Bell test!
Reina's P.O.V
The alarm goes off, ringing loudly. I groaned and swatted my hand around, looking for the alarm clock. A loud crash rings out in my room. Jumping out of my bed, I see the clock on the floor now shattered in pieces.
"Oops.. Sorry alarm clock.." I muttered tiredly, I stood up and walked to the bathroom. "I'll buy another one later.."
I did my daily routine quickly, after I finished I went to the kitchen which actually had a clock still intact. -4:55- 'With Dad being our Jonin, who's usually fashionably late. He won't be at the training grounds for about 3 more hours. So, I can take my time.' I went to the fridge, looking for food. Even if he told us not to eat, who's does an exercise on an empty stomach? Idiots do. You can't just starve during a battle, you'll be weak and slowed down.
"Knowing my team, they're going to listen to orders and skip breakfast." I mumbled.
I should make some food for my new team to, don't want to seem rude. I'll pick up Naruto's ramen on the way, for Sakura I'll make her rice balls. Same for Sasuke, except there's going to be tomatoes in his, I get the feeling he likes tomatoes.
I made the rice balls for Sasuke and Sakura, placing them in a bowl, all that's left is Naruto's ramen. Off to Ichiraku's ramen for me. Then I remembered, Dad told us to bring weapons. 'I need to get my weapons, then.' Running to my room, I strap my kunai pouch to my right leg. I put some shurikens, paper bombs, and smoke bombs inside just in case. We are going against the copy cat ninja. 'It looks like I'll be taking this..' It thought as I grabbed a block of metal. 'I haven't used this in awhile.' The block of metal melts and go up to my shoulder, it reforms as a metal brace around my shoulder blade, a piece of armor. Pretty much what it does is, it forms into any weapon I imagine or need. It's a really handy gift the guy at the weapon shop have me.
"You work still, perfect." I said, and walked out the door. "Oh, I need to get ramen."
Surprisingly Ichiraku's ramen stand was open this early. I walked up to the stand, going under the red banners.
"Ah, welcome back, Reina. What can I get you?" Ayame asked, happily.
I think Naruto ordered beef yesterday, if I'm correct.
"One bowl of beef ramen to go please." I asked politely.
"Okay! I'll be out with your order in a minute." Ayame said, leaving to make the ramen.
I nodded in response. He comes back right away with the ramen, I thank her and pay her for today's ramen and yesterday's, leaving right after. 'I hope they like this.. Wait-? What am I thinking, why am I being so kind to them? I'm supposed to be cold, mean.. But my cold facade is fading very easily, especially with Naruto..' I scowled and walked into the training fields we were supposed to meet at. The three of them were there. Sakura looked dead, Naruto looked like the living dead, and Sasuke was perfectly fine. Must be a morning person and the others, well aren't.
"You're late!" Naruto and Sakura shouted simultaneously.
Since my hands were full, I stopped in my tracks.
"Oh so it's my fault I made you guys food, deciding to be nice for once." I said coldly.
"But Kaka-sensei said not to eat breakfast!" Sakura shouted, being the obedient student she is. (A/N: no offense to Sakura fans out there, their relationship will improve later)
I sighed. "Why would you even think of doing an exercise on an empty stomach? You'll only slow yourself down as well as your team, Dad did that on purpose." I explained. "Now eat up."
I tossed Sakura her bowl of rice balls and Sasuke his, I handed Naruto his ramen.
"Thanks." Sakura muttered as she ate the rice balls.
"Thanks, Reina!" Naruto grinned, slurping his ramen already.
"No problem." I said.
"Hn..tomatoes?" Sasuke asked.
My gaze snapped to him, does he not like them?
"Is that alright? Or is it you don't like tomatoes?" I asked, my head tilted in curiosity.
Sasuke stared at me, then at the ground. He ate a rice ball.
"No.. I do like them, how'd you know?" He asked with a small glare.
'It was a feeling..that's all. No. That'd be weird saying that.'
"Oh.. I just had some tomatoes, that all." I said.
Sasuke grunted, and started eating his food again. My stomach growled. 'Shoot! I forgot to make myself some food!'
"You didn't eat?" Sakura asked, worried.
"Huh? Oh, I did. My stomach is hurting, that's all. Don't worry." I lied through my teeth.
"Oh...okay." Sakura said, looking at me suspiciously.
I sighed, and laid down in the grass. Staring up at the blue morning sky, I fell asleep.
_______________
"You're late!!" Someone shouted.
I groaned, lifting my body off the ground. Time to wake up.
"Thanks for waking me up." I mumbled bitterly to my team.
"Well, a black cat crossed my path, you see. I had to help it." Dad lied.
I glared at him, "Liar.." I mumbled, half asleep.
He cleared his throat and walked to a clock on a tree stump.
"Okay, this clock is set to 12:00. Your assignment is to take these bells away from me by noon. Those who can't do it won't get lunch. They will be tied to a stump and I'll eat my lunch before your very eyes." Dad explained.
My stomach growled at the mention of food. I grimaced, and held my stomach. I knew it, that's why he didn't want us eating breakfast... My team glanced at me with narrowed eyes, I rolled my eyes and faced Dad.
"Wait, why is there only three bells? There's four of us." Sakura stated, confused.
"Well, since there are only three, one of you will have to be tied to the log. That person will be disqualified for failing the test and will return to the academy. It could be one person, or it may be all four of you." Dad said with a closed eye smile. "You can use shurikens or any weapon at that. You won't be able to take the bells from me unless you come at me with the intent to kill."
I'm not so sure I can do that... I can always try.
"But that's dangerous, sensei!" Sakura shouted her eyes wide open.
"Yeah, that's right! You couldn't even dodge a chalkboard eraser!" Naruto laughed.
"In the shinobi world, those who aren't skilled enough tend to complain more. Well, just ignore the loser.. Begin when I give the 'start' signal." Dad said, his one visible eye staring at us with boredom.
Naruto growled, and shook with anger. 'I think the loser thing got to him..' Naruto took out a kunai, and charged at Dad with a battle cry. Naruto was no match for Dad, Dad had Naruto's hand with the kunai, pointing at the back of his head in an instant.
"Naruto..." I muttered, worried for his safety.
"Don't be hasty. I haven't even start." Dad scolded, then let Naruto go. I grabbed Naruto and pulled him next to me. Glaring at Dad, I rubbed Naruto's arm.
"At least you came at me with the intent to kill. Your beginning to acknowledge me. I'm actually starting to like you guys." Dad mused with a closed eye smile, "Ready....begin!"
Immediately, I jumped into the shrubbery and hid in a bush. I could sense Sakura's chakra to my right in a bush, Sasuke was up in a tree. Where's Naruto-?
"Come on! Let's fight face to face!" Naruto shouted at Dad, arms crossed.
Never mind, found him. 'What's that baka doing?! Is he trying to get himself killed?!' I sighed, annoyance filling me.
"Huh? You're different than the others.." Dad stated.
"What's different is your hair style!" Naruto shouted and sprinted at Dad.
True. His gravity defying hair is different, but nice on him. Shaking my head, I paid attention to the fight. He stopped when Dad went into his pocket to pull something out. I narrowed my eyes at his hand. Is he taking out a weapon? Paper bomb?
"I'll teach you the first shinobi battle Jutsu. Taijutsu." Dad said.
That means he'll be using weapons. What he pulls out his pouch, wasn't what I expected him to take out. Make-out paradise... I face palmed. 'I should've seen this coming..'
"Hm..what's wrong? I thought you wanted to fight me?" Dad asked.
"Yeah but-? What's with the book?" Naruto asked.
Dad looked at the book, "It's because I'm curious about what happens next." He said. "Don't worry. It won't make a difference if I'm reading or not."
Naruto charged at Dad. I stopped watching, and started to think about this 'test'. Why would Dad want us to go after bell's, even if we knew one of us would fail? Think, think! One of us will fail no matter what, but the other three can pass. But there's a chance we all fail... Could he possibly be trying to teach us teamwork? It's the only answer. That's the reason we were put into teams, that's why there's only three bells! He made is go against each other just to get the bells on purpose, he wanted us to fight each other. For at least one of us to figure out the purpose and convince the others. 'Damn, I can't believe I didn't notice it earlier! I need to convince the three idiots to do teamwork!'
I jumped to Sasuke's tree, he immediately spun around placing a kunai to my neck.
"Sasuke.." I whispered, my voice covered with fear.
He pulled the kunai away, his eyes softening.
"Hn..sorry.." He muttered.
I grabbed my neck. 'One wrong move, he...he could've killed me.' I thought, shaking slightly in fear.
"It's fine..." I said lowly, "I came here to tell you, we won't defeat him if we go alone. We need to team up and fight him together. The point of this whole test is teamwork."
Sasuke glared at me. "I don't need your help, you'll only slow me down." Sasuke spat.
'This douche! I'm trying to help him, no, I'm trying to help the whole team here!'
"Slow you down? Shut up! We need to work together you a**!" I whispered loud enough for him to hear.
He grunted once more, and jumped away, leaving me in pure anger. 'Baka! Baka! Baka!' Snarling I leaped away, finding Naruto hanging upside down, tied in ropes.
"Reina!" Naruto shouted.
I put my finger to my lip, shushing him. I threw a kunai to the rope tied to the tree, slicing him free. I caught him before he fell bridal style, he blushed and jumped out of my arms.
"Thanks for the help!" Naruto said, about to run off.
I grabbed his arm. I have to convince him at least!
"Eh?"
"Naruto, we need to team up to beat sensei." I explained shortly.
Please, listen to me, please!
"Sorry, Reina! But I have to beat him alone if I'm going to be the Hokage!" Naruto shouted as he ran away.
'I lost the only hope I had left... I can't even convince him!' Growling, I went to look for my last thread of hope. Sakura.
"Ahhhhhhhhh!" Sakura's scream echoed loudly, birds flying away from a certain direction.
There. I ran to Sakura, she was on the floor unconscious with tears streaming down her face. Genjutsu.. Second shinobi Jutsu..
I shook Sakura, "Sakura, Sakura! Wake up you pink haired devil, it's just a genjutsu!" I whispered dryly.
Sakura groaned, her eyes fluttered open.
"..S-Sasuke...he's hu-hurt! Blood!" Sakura blurted out.
"It's okay! You were in a genjutsu!" I reassured her, "Pinky, we won't beat sensei alone. We need to fight him together, as a team!" I shouted, emphasizing the word team.
"No way am I helping a freak like you! I'm helping Sasuke-kun!" She scowled, running off.
"There goes my last thread of hope." I spit out bitterly. "Why don't those idiots understand?! We need to work as a team, but their damn priorities get in the way!"
I stomped the ground angrily. My emotions going out of control.
"Oh, you'll slow me down. No, I'm going to be Hokage! Why would I help you." I mocked my teammates, sourly.
"Someone's angry." A voice chuckled.
I spun around. Dad.
I snarled, "Of course I am! My own damn team doesn't listen to me!" I snapped.
"You figured out the purpose of the test." Dad stated.
"Yes, it's teamwork. I noticed it not to long after we started." I frowned, then smirked.
"I see. Have you given up." Dad said.
"But, I'm not giving up yet. I"ll fight for the bells." I said, nodding my head towards the bells on his hip.
He smirked behind his mask, and stood in place. This is my chance to show him what I got.
"Ready when you are, sensei." I smirked.
"Ready."
I ran at him, sending a roundhouse kick at him. He grabbed my leg before it could make contact with him, and flung me to a tree. 'Protect my back!' The metal did as it was told, forming into a protective layer against my back. Appearing behind Dad I reached for the bells. 'I got them-' He jumped away, the bells taunting me with their ringing. 'Crap, I was so close!' He knows my moves, what I will do, to him I'm a harmless fly that won't get close to touching him. We moved to Taijutsu, fighting hand to hand intensely. Again, none of my hits reached him, I was the one getting hit instead. I was leaning over, panting heavily, my stomach bruised.
I'm going nowhere with this. 'Scythe, now!' If I can get a drop of his blood into my body, just maybe I can use my clan's power to get the bells. I held my new scythe in my hands, I spun it around and pointed it him.
"Prepare yourself, sensei." I said coldly.
Charging at him I swung my scythe at him, over and over again. None ever scratched him. I swung again as he blocked with a kunai. I slashed at his arm, he grabbed my hand twisting it behind my back. I whimpered, and slammed my head back hitting his. He let go. I rubbed my arm. 'Damn! Triple bladed scythe!' I thought, as I was near Dad's arm. The blade suddenly switched to a triple bladed scythe, catching him off guard and wounding him. I smirked and jumped back, leaving a safe distance between us. He was frozen in shock.
"You got me.." He muttered, shocked.
The six years he trained me, I never managed to lay a finger on him, till now.
"Now, the fun begins." I smirked.
I brought the blade laced with Dad's blood to my lips and licked it. The remaining blood. I used to create a circle and a moon with three dots inside it. My clans seal for this Jutsu. Dad's eye followed my every move, trying to figure out what I was doing. I needed the target's blood in my system to use this Jutsu, for example Dads which I licked a few seconds ago. After getting the blood, and drawing the seal on my hand, I can control the target's movements, more so their body. After all I control water, as the human body is mostly water, a perfect target.
"Water style: Hizo seal activation!" I shouted, smirking at Dad.
The seal glowed a bright red, imbedding itself into my hand. Hissing in pain, I turned to Dad.
"It's over, I won." I said, now having full control over his body. "Now, stand still and don't move." I ordered.
"How? What is that jutsu?" He demanded, not even asking.
I ignored him. Walked over, grabbed the bells ever so slowly. I noticed his hand twitch, 'He's trying to resist my jutsu..isn't he? Hm, I can make it stronger.'
I recited the Jutsu once more, "Water style: Hizo seal activation." I whispered.
'Return to my shoulder.' I grinned, reaching out for the bells. The breath was knocked out of me. My face in the dirt with a Dad twisting my arms behind my back. I let out a small, muffled scream.
"Maa, you've gotten stronger, but not strong enough." Dad mused.
'He broke free? Impossible!' I growled. I was so close to getting those cursed bells! Wait, I got it! 'Grab the bells and replace them.' I felt the metal slide off my shoulder and to the bells. Perfect. The bell rang, signaling the test was over. He got off me. I groaned and shakily stood up. I glanced at the 'bells' on his hip, they were heavier looking and more of a dark silver color than the real bells. He didn't seem to notice the difference, though. Good.
"Ja ne." With those words, he left.
The real bells were on the ground, shining in the sun.
I smiled as I grabbed me, rolling them in my palms. "I did it.."
I found my team sitting against the stumps, well, Naruto was tied to the log, still they were all gloomy looking. I sat to the left of Naruto.
"Reina! Your injured!l Sakura shouted.
"It's nothing, I can handle it." I waved it off.
My stomach growled.
"Did you disobey my orders and eat?" He asked Sasuke, Naruto and Sakura.
Sakura opens her mouth to speak. I beat her to it.
"Yes, they did. I made them food so they would be at their full strength, not weak and hungry." I muttered, looking straight into his eyes.
"You didn't eat?" Dad asked.
"I forgot, I was too busy getting them their food." I replied coldly.
"Well then, about the test... None of you will be sent back to the academy!" Dad exclaimed, happily.
Naruto cheered. Sakura's eyes were wide open. 'There's a catch...'
"What? All I did was lay unconscious?" Sakura muttered.
Either way she joined Naruto and cheered.
"Then, then, that mean the three of us!" Naruto shouted.
"Yes. The four of you....must quit being ninjas!" Dad shouted.
I tensed. I didn't think he would say that, I thought he would fail us..
"What?! What do you mean quit?! Why?!" Naruto shouted, flailing his legs around.
"You brats don't have the qualities to become a ninja. Do you think it's simple becoming a ninja? What do you think the purpose of this test was for?" Dad snapped.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Sakura asked.
"Do you even know why you were into teams?" He asked bitterly.
Sakura tilted her head in confusion. I sighed.
"It was teamwork, idiots." I spat coldly.
"Teamwork.." Sakura muttered.
"Correct, teamwork. None of you figured that out, only Reina did. She came to each of you, asking for help. But, you all ignored her and went on your own." Dad said, "Sakura! You were to focused in Sasuke when you didn't even know where he was! You ignored Naruto even if he was right in front up of your eyes, in need of help! You pushed Reina away when she knew the answer, just for Sasuke." Sakura looked down at the ground in guilt. "Naruto! You acted on your own, ignoring everyone." Naruto frowned. "Sasuke! You labeled the other three as hindrances and acted on your own as well. Reina! You could've asked the others to help you again but you didn't!" I glared at him.
"Why would I ask again? They didn't want me the first time, they won't want me the second time." I snarled.
"You all fail. You will all go back to the academy since you failed to get any of the bells." Dad said.
Bells! I opened my palm, 'Still there.'
"No, your wrong." I cut in, standing up. "They have bells."
"No we don't-" I tossed her a bell.
I tossed the last two to the boys, also cutting Naruto out of the ropes.
"How...?" Sakura asked.
All their faces were shocked, I sighed. 'Return.' The 'bells' on Dads hip melted and wrapped around my arm. Dads eyes sparkled in recognition.
"You used that...smart..." Dad murmured.
I faced Dad, "See? They have bells, they pass." I said.
"I see that, but you don't have a bell." He pointed out.
I frowned, "I know. But... They deserve them, I've only been in the academy for a few days. They've trained their butts off, it's better if they pass while I fail. They each have a dream they want to achieve, if giving up the bells to them will help them reach their dream. Then so be it, I'll fail for them." I said quietly.
A bell was placed into my hand. I gave Sasuke a confused look, but it turned into a glare.
"What are you doing, you idiot? I gave you the bell for a reason, keep it." I said coldly and placed the bell back in his hand.
He glared at me, but softly as he gave me back the bell.
I frowned, "Why... Why give it to me? I treat you all terribly...you deserve to pass, I don't..." I muttered sadly.
"No, you do deserve to pass. You helped all of us even though you don't like us." Sasuke said.
"Yeah, what Sasuke said. You helped me when I was unconscious, you could have just walked away from me, but you didn't." Sakura said, and handed me her bell as well.
"Yeah, yeah! You helped me out of that trap, so you deserve a bell, dattebayo!" Naruto grinned, handing me his.
I held the three bells. I couldn't believe what they were doing, and for me..
I looked up at my team, "Thank you..." I whispered.
They smiled, Sasuke smirked. Naruto walked up to me, and caressed my face, wiping away something.
"Don't cry." Naruto whispered.
My eyes widened and I touched my face. It was wet, I was crying. I haven't cried since I was rescued by Kakashi..
"I'm...crying...?" I asked myself.
"Yeah, you are." Naruto frowned. "Don't cry, Reina-chan."
'Reina-chan? Aren't nicknames for friends..' I thought.
"They are. You're my friend, no, our friend Reina-chan, believe it!" Naruto said with a kind smile, motioning to himself, Sasuke and Sakura.
Sakura smiled at me, Sasuke smirked at me and patted my head. I scowled and swatted his hands away. I couldn't help smiling a true smile. Even though Naruto was already considered my friend, it felt much more different than the time he called me his friend. I was happy. It felt different than Dads feelings toward me, this felt much more happier. Much nicer, it was a good feeling, I liked it. I hugged Naruto since he was the closest to me.
He hugged me back. "Thank you. Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura. I've never had..friends before. Until I met you three.." I mumbled into Naruto's chest.
I pulled away with a smile. I tilted my head at Naruto's crimson red face.
"Naruto, why are you red?" I asked, completely oblivious to his growing feelings towards me.
"It's n-nothing!" He shouted nervously.
"Oh..okay?" I said.
Sakura giggled while Sasuke smirked. 'What was I missing? I don't understand what's so funny..?' I thought.
"You....!" Dad shouted.
I jumped, I completely forgot about him. I think the others did as well.
"Pass!" Dad smiled, "The three of you sacrificed your bells to another teammate. You did teamwork without even noticing that you did. Congratulations, team 7."
He's right.. We did teamwork without intending to. I grinned as realization came to me. We passed. We passed!
"We passed! Dattebayo!" Naruto shouted.
I started giggling, everyone looked at me like I grew another head. My giggling turned into full out laughter. The boys turned red, especially Naruto.
"Why are your cheeks red?" I said, giggling slightly.
"Um, let's get ramen!" Naruto shouted, changing the subject.
I shrugged my shoulders, "Sure, it's a good reward for passing, don't you agree?"
The others nodded.
"Let's go!" I shouted, dragging Naruto with me.
The others followed, either smiling or smirking at us. 'Team 7, huh? A team with a loud mouth brat, a cold hearted freak, a emo kid with a gigantic ego, a pink haired devil who's a fan-girl for the emo kid, and a mysterious sensei who reads pornos. Watch out world, this crazy team is going to kick your a**!'
