Chapter 8
I slept like a rock last night. Apparently boyfriends can easily tire you out. Saturday was one of the best days of my life besides Becca interfering, but yeah. I was so happy that I was able to go out with him. Oh how I love North Carolina so dang much.
"Linneaaa, homecoming is on Wendesday. . ." A voice cooed softly into my ear while I was half conscious and half asleep. I shifted in my bed, my bare foot suddenly slipping out from underneath the covers, sending a chill up my body.
Whose voice is that ?
It took a moment, but then I realized it was just Madi being weird as always. She probably just wanted me to wake up or something.
"Ugh, Madi go away." I sighed dramatically as I shoved my pillow over my head to block out Madi's wake up call.
No one spoke for a good three minutes, so I began to drift off to sleep again since that is all I wanted to do at the moment. I was immediately pulled out of my trance when I heard Madi's voice echo in my room once again.
"Sorry, but it is past 11:00 a.m. girl." Madi finalized as she pulled open my pink shades and turned off my fairy lights.
"Oh my God, fine!" I replied throwing my pillow across my bed and stretching my muscles to wake them all up.
I slowly sat up in my bed, receiving a slight head rush as as I did so.
Low iron who?
I rubbed my eyes, some of yesterday's mascara remains were smeared across my hand. I let it a soft groan before I blinked several times, my eyesight becoming clear.
"Lins, when did you get home last night anyway?" Madi questioned, leaning against the doorframe and acquiring a stare that was identical to the look a parent would do if they found out their child came home past curfew.
"I don't know to be honest. I just got home at some point, strolled inside, grabbed some food, and watched one episode of Pretty Little Liars. After that I took a nice warm and relaxing shower. I pretty much fell asleep right after that." I explained as I tugged at my aching arms.
"Okay, and just so you know, I made us some eggs and I have some cereal out too if you want." Madi informed as she walked out of my room and back downstairs to eat breakfast with my dad.
"Alright." I replied groggily as I sat up and looked at my quote and poster covered walls.
My mint green walls seemed to make me feel calmer and more relaxed. I really wanted to fall back asleep again. I lay back down and I tossed and turned trying to make up my mind on what I should do. Be lazy or get up and actually do something productive.
"Oh my god, stupid sun!" I complained shoving the pillow over me as the sun oddly moved right in my eyes. The curtains moved through the cool October breeze, It felt as if I was outside with it and a bunch of zechadas buzzing right by me still.
"Stop being such a vampire." Madi groaned from her bedroom, her voice oddly raspy as she yelled at me.
"Fine." I mumbled under my breath as I stretched as I obliged to get out of bed. Today was gonna suck, I could feel it already, thanks to the negative vibes surround me.
"Hey Linnea!!" My dad greeted, welcoming me as he held a cup of coffee in his hand at the same time he hugged me. He planted a small kiss on my forehead and rubbed his hand in my hair like he did when I was a child.
"Hi Dad." I replied grabbing some scrambled eggs from the pan and putting them on my blue smiley face plate.
"I have to go on a business trip to Brazil tomorrow, you girls will be fine right?" He questioned, glancing at me more than Madi.
We both shrugged in agreement while I poured some Frosted Flakes into a oddly shaped bowl. Now that I think about it, I think I made this bowl back in eighth grade during art class.
"Of course dad, I mean we aren't ten years old anymore." I teased as I strolled over to the table and pulled out my chair to sit down.
I placed my plate and bowl on the table and began to eat my cereal first, the sweetness spiking my attitude.
"I know," Dad's huge smile faded a bit before he continued."You are all grown up now." Dad replied rubbing his almost bald head and flashing us a smile.
He was right since I was turning eighteen in a few weeks. Don't get me wrong, I was ecstatic to be eighteen, but the idea of being that old did not sit right with me. Currently, I'm kind of mad at the government because now I have to wait an extra three years to be an official adult.
"Yeah." I agreed with a nod, reminiscing the times when I was young and carefree.
Oh, the glory days.
After I finished eating my scrambled eggs, I went outside to call Brianna. I really had to tell her about last nights events, or else what kind of friend would I be?
"Hi Linny!!" Brianna squealed almost sounding identically like Becca from my side of the line.
"Hey." I replied as I sat down on our stoop in front of the front door and began to play with a loose piece of cement between the door and the stoop itself.
"So, how was your first date?" She whispered into the phone as if she was on speaker.
"Awesome except for one thing, I can tell you about it tomorrow." I reassured, standing up and beginning to pace my driveway as I talked to her.
"Okay!" Brianna replied." I am so sorry buy I have to go, I have point and jazz today." She excused as she hung u the phone.
"Okay, bye." I concluded as I pressed the red phone button my phone's screen. My phone case sparkled in the sun as I tilted it so the light would hit directly. The glittery yellow pineapple looked so realistic.
Shortly after the call, a text appeared on my screen.
Ethan:
Hey Linny, can you meet me at the park at like 1:30?"
Ethan texted me to meet him at the park? Now I am kind of starting freak out. Was he going to break up with me or was I just being naive?
After yesterday I wouldn't be surprised. . .
