My phone buzzed and I grabbed off of the bathroom, counter. I smiled excitedly as I realized it was a text from Alex.
Alex D:
Coming to pick you up. See you in 15.🙂
Me:
Okay, Awesome!
I checked my hair one last time and quickly slid on my exquisite dress and four inch high heels.
Then I grabbed my wallet and sat on my chair in my room and waited for Alex to arrive.
~
I finally heard the distinct noise of the doorbell and I walked downstairs slowly. I opened the front door and I was greeted by Alex was wearing a handsome tux with his dark brown hair slicked back.
"Wow, Alex . . . you look so-so handsome!" I exclaimed, my cheeks becoming red since I complimented him.
"Thanks babe, but no, you're the gorgeous one." Alex retorted giving me a sly smile as he held my hand and led me over to his car.
Alex led me to his car, my hand in his as he opened the car door for me, motioning for me to sit down. By the look of it, Alex seemed a lot more polite to me than. Ethan had been. I was really thankful Alex was that way because that is one of the qualities zi look for in most guys.
"I'm sorry, my dad took his new Corvette out to South Virginia yesterday so I had to bring the truck. I hope that's okay." Alex apologized once we were settled in our seats.
"Of course it's okay!" I replied as I hopped in the passenger seat and buckled myself in.
~
Music busted outside of the gym as we held hands walking in. When we got inside, we let go of each other's hands and looked around trying to figure out where to go and what to do first.
We both looked around for a moment until I saw someone. I had spotted Brianna over by the food and drinks table. I swallowed nervously knowing what I had to do. I glanced slowly over at Alex and he looked back at me.
"Um . . . I have to go to the bathroom. I'll be right back, okay?" I sputtered as I slowly tip toed backwards to get a head start.
"Oh okay, I'll be over her then." Alex informed as he walked over to one of his friends who was with his girlfriend too.
I grasped Brianna's wrist firmly and practically dragged her into the bathroom. She let out a small yelp in shock and attempted to turn around and see who it was but I knew she couldn't make out my shadow in the semidarkness of the school hallway.
"Okay-" I panted as we reached the bathroom, "We-really-need-to talk."
Brianna was still getting over the fact that I had legit came out of nowhere and dragged her over here. She shook her head to get rid of her trance and then she looked at me, still giving me the silent treatment.
I took a deep breath and swallowed over the big lump in my throat, "I know, I get it you're still mad at me but look, I'm sorry I didn't tell you that I liked Alex, okay? I really should have been able to trust you and you have to understand that I really do trust you, Bri. I'm truly sorry about that. Plus, it is just a crush, not some spy or secret sibling I hadn't told you about."
"It's okay, I guess." Brianna finally responded with a smile growing on her face as she forgave me. She was quiet for a moment and then she looked at me, her brown eyes looking dilated for a moment," I'm sorry, I'm just so sensitive. I wish I wasn't that way but I am, I swear I don't mean to be mad at you all the time.
We hugged each other for a moment but then quickly let go when I realized that she was at the dance. Which pretty much meant that she must have taken somebody with her.
"Did you come with anyone?" I asked while letting go of her and starring into her eyes waiting for a response.
"Yeah, Will." She replied with a small smirk as she began to daydream about Will dancing with her again.
"Oh my god! Come with me." I exclaimed as I grabbed her wrist yet again and we ran, in high heels, back to where Alex was standing.
"Where were you?" Alex asked as he turned around holding a soda in his right hand. He set it down on the table and came up close to me as he waited for my answer.
Soon, slow music began to play and Will and Brianna began to dance together. I watched them dance and I smiled realizing how cute of a couple they were. Suddenly, my instincts told me to snap my attention back to my own boyfriend, so I did.
"That doesn't matter right now." I replied gazing into his eyes. His hand touched my shoulder as we started dance.*
"I will never understand girls." Alex confirmed with a quick shake of his head and a laugh.
I let out a small laugh myself and then I commented, "Wow, you're pretty good!" I commented as we danced slowly. His feet and mine were perfectly in sync. I was shocked since my boys don't know how to dance, or at least at my elementary school they didn't.
"Thanks, Linnea. You know, I really wished I would have asked you out a while back. You're pretty cool." Alex admitted as he smiled at me, his brown eyes examining my makeup.
"Awe thanks." I replied, blushing and holding his hand even tighter than I was before, three minutes ago," that really means a lot you know."
I stretched upwards and kissed his cheek softly. Then he looked at me and raised his eyebrow in confusion.
"What do you call that?" He asked with a cute laugh as he held out his hands and then rested them against his hips. He ran his fingers through his hair, moving his bangs out of his eyes.
Then, he pulled me closer and kissed me full on the lips. Alex Douson kissed me right there, in the middle of the dance floor. To be honest, his kiss was even better than Ethan's.
"Wow . . . sorry." He apologized as he gave me a look of embarrassment and took a few steps back.
"Nah, it's okay, I liked it." I admitted with small laugh as I began to regret what I just said.
I punched Alex's shoulder playfully as upbeat music came on, replacing the slow music we were just adapting to. We walked over near Will and Brianna and danced the rest of the night with them.
This was truly one of the best nights ever, and I meant it.
