Chapter 19

I waited at Ethan's door after I rang the doorbell. Finally, the door opened slightly as Ethan's face appeared.

"Uh, hey, can we talk?" I asked as I wrapped my right arm over my waist and rocked myself back and forth.

"Sure, come in."  Ethan motioned as he opened the door wider so I could enter. When I walked inside, the house smelled of sweat and sweater weather, one of my favorite fall scents form Bath & Body Works.

His parents and Colin were playing on their x-box 360, and they almost didn't notice me at first.

"Sorry, we were having a Madden 50 competition." Ethan added as he looked over at Colin who was now screaming at the top of his lungs since he won the game.

"It's fine." I reassured sitting on the bar stool in front of the island counter filled with food from their dinner.

"First off, do you want anything to drink? We have water, juice or soda." Ethan asked as he grabbed a glass from the cabinet.

"Juice, please." I replied as I spun the bar stool around while I watched Ethan dig in the fridge.

He poured the juice in a glass cup and handed it to me. I immediately took a sip of it, feeling the cold juice slide down my throat.

"Thanks." I thanked between sips of the delicious apple juice.

"Yeah, no problem, so what's up?" Ethan questioned as he sat on the bar stool next to me, waiting for a reply.

"I've been acting like a jerk, I mean right? I thought for a moment yesterday that since you got accepted we wouldn't be . . . well . . . forever." I admitted as I let out a small sigh.

"Linny, it's fine, we can still date even if I'm at a different college." Ethan replied as he put his hand over mine.

"You probably don't want to come to homecoming with me then anyway." I frowned looking at Colin and Ethan's parents.

"No! Linnea, I love you! You are amazing! You are still going to Homecoming with me tomorrow." Ethan clarified, standing up from the bar stool.

Oh shoot, the dance is tomorrow, I totally forgot! At least I have a dress! I thought to myself in relief.

I managed a small smile at him.

"So, we're fine then?" I questioned as I set the now empty glass of apple juice on the counter,

"Yeah." Ethan concluded with a smile as he wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me closer to him.

Right then he kissed me and I felt so much better.
