Chapter 17
Ding Dong!
I rocketed down the staircase, knowing that Linnea was finally back home in North Carolina. Well, I thought it was her at least.
"Hi!" She exclaimed wrapping her arms around me. Her warmth spread through my cold body as we hugged.
"Oh Linny, I missed you so much!" I declared as I released myself from the hug and looked down at Linnea.
"I know, me too, I can't believe I'm finally back hereIt was so different in New York too. Everything is just so... so...overwhelming." Linnea explained as she waited to hear my response.
"So what was your surprise for me?" I asked nervously as I felt curious to know what it was going to be.
"Well. . . I got you a FitBit! I know you like to run a lot so I thought this would be a g old present for you." Linnea handed me a box with a Fitbit in the middle, resting on a plastic circle," they were on clearance for some reason so I decided to just grab you one. Oh and don't worry, I would be bought you one even if it wasn't on clearance." She added with a wink.
Linnea got me a Fitbit?! Damn, I felt super bad now since I really didn't get her anything special
"Thank you Linny, you know how much I have wanted my own Fitbit. Now I don't have to constantly ask strangers how many steps they have! Oh my God, I love it! It's even in my favorite color, Black!" I exclaimed with a big smile on my face as I continued to examine my new FitBit.
"Of course, you're the best boyfriend, Ethan, I want to be with you forever and ever." Linnea proclaimed proudly.
After that she got up on her tip toed and gave me a small peck. I couldn't help but to blush for a moment.
"Okay, so what's your surprise?" She asked sitting down next to me on the leather couch.
"Well-Uh-I-I got accepted at NCSU." I stuttered, hoping she wouldn't be upset or anything.
Linnea's mouth gaped and she let out a little squeal
"Eeeeeee!" She shrieked, yet again, hugging me, but this time it was a little softer of one.
"Yeah. . ." I replied as I itched my head, letting her hug me.
Linnea's face suddenly changed as she realized something.
"Wait. . . when did you get your email or call?" Linnea inquired as she looked at me curiously.
"Last week." I responded calmly as she nodded and slipped her hands into her pockets.
"Are there still more emails being sent?" She asked as she pulled out her iphone to check her emails.
"No." I sighed sadly as I watched her shove her phone back into her pocket.
"What?!" Linnea pressed, tears forming in her eyes as she scanned my face for an answer.
"I'm really sorry Linnea, I-I-" I looked down at our feet, not knowing what to say next.
"No,no it's okay, yeah, um it's fine.." Linnea convinced swiping her tiny tears away.
"I know it's your dream school and everything but don't worry. . ." I tried, placing my hand on her shoulder.
"It's not that Ethan, it's the fact that are plan to stay together forever won't happen anymore because I didn't get accepted at that dumb school." Linnea explained crossing her arms like a child.
"We'll figure out something together, okay? Just. . . I don't like seeing you sad." I frowned," A ha, but, I do know what you do like though."
"What?" Linnea asked, her voice sounding high pitched as she spoke to me, curious on what it was going to bel
I could see Linnea smirking a small bit already as if she could sense what I was about to say.
"Kiss me." I motioned as I gazed into Linnea's beautiful blue eyes and the freckled that were spread out on her face.
"Okay!' She complained switched moods and kissed me hard on my lips.
"Alright, alright come one cut it out, let's not take this to far." Mom scolded walking into the family room unexpectedly.
"Mom, I know, I was trying to comfort her with a kiss and that is all." I informed as I felt a little awkward that my mom had seen all of this.
Mom rolled her eyes, shrugged and then walked into the kitchen to continue doing whatever she was doing before she came over by us,
"Would you guys like anything to eat?" Mom asked suddenly as she poked her head out from behind the wall.
I looked at Linnea and she nodded at me and then she looked at my mom, who she rarely sees.
"Uh, yeah, can we have some cheese and crackers?" I requested with a shrug.
"Sure!" She responded as she raced into the kitchen to make some food for us to eat while we talked.
I looked at Linnea who seemed to be feeling better and smiled.
"You wanna watch a movie?" I inquired, pointing to our selection of movies under the TV.
"That would be awesome." She replied with a smile as she sat down next to me by the movies.
"Let's watch . . . Hunger Games?" I asked, pulling out the first Hunger Games movie DVD.
"Sure!" Linnea obliged as she raced back to the couch.
~
"Did you see Peeta and Katniss?!" Linnea asked gazing into my eyes.
"Yeah, they make such a cute couple." I admitted, finishing the cracker I grabbed before walking with her back to her house.
"Hehe, just like us!" Linnea added nudging me playfully.
"Yeah, well this was really fun. I love spending time with you, you know." I admitted, feeling all bubbly inside.
"Me too, well goodnight Ethan!" Linnea replied walking in the front door and waving at me.
"Bye, goodnight Linnea!" I responded waving too as I strolled back home on my own.
Today was probably one of the best days of my life. I felt as if I hadn't seen her for a year! It was so nice to catch up with her and not have to deal with Colin wanting to watch some different movies and stuff. I was so happy Linnea was back but now I know one thing.
She won't be with me and North Carolina State University. . .
