Linnea was still in New York and  I didn't know if I should call her now to tell her I was accepted. Instead, I would  leave it as a surprise until she gets back. Yeah, I think I will leave it as a surprise since she loves surprises.

"Ethan? Why were you screaming up there?" Mom asked from the bottom of the stairs. I could slightly hear her proceeding up the wooden steps.

     Every other step she took made a loud creaking noise which told me she was coming up so I hid my phone under my desk and turned around to face my poster covered door.

"Uh. . . you'll find out at dinner, I mean I will tell you at dinner!" I replied loudly as I stood up and opened my door. I walked out and mom was only five steps away from reaching my room. God, she can be really sneaky sometimes.

"Okay." Mom answered as she pivoted and began walking back downstairs to continue working on our dinner which was going to be BLT sandwiches, one of my favorites.

I looked around and marched back into my black and white colored room, which looked like an oversized checkerboard but covered in posters of Drake and Jay Z and some other singers that I thought were cool. I leaped onto my black sheeted bed, next to it was a cot which my cousin, Tobin, slept on a few months ago.

     As I looked at it again I realized the the duvet was gone. Which meant that Tobin must have taken it back home with him to Arizona. Ugh, that was the most comfortable duvet we had since Colin came along. The other ones had been ripped and torn when Colin had taken them to sleepovers or when he was really mad about something or mad at someone.

Well, Linnea wants to go to NCSU so badly....I hope she gets accepted too! The emails are done being sent out next week.

I began drawing stupid sketches from what was on my mind at the moment trying to let out all the emotions that were clogged in my head. The biggest feeling inside me right now was proudness. I was just so proud of myself for making it to NCSU. 

     Since I was on high honors the last three semesters, that probably helped a lot. I can't believe I got accepted! I was still in major shock so I decided it was about time to text my friends, Nick and Adam quickly before I had to go downstairs for dinner.

"This is so delicious mom!" I exclaimed scarfing down the BLT sandwich. Her BLT's where the best. Even though it consists of just bacon, lettuce, and tomatoes, her BLT's had a delicious and special tang to it.

      "Yeah, it is, mom." Colin replied as he took a huge bite of his BLT. He smiled as he savored the flavor in his mouth.

"Thanks, honey." Mom smiled as she cut her BLT but then she took an accidental piece of only lettuce and a small bit of bacon with no tomatoes or bread on it. She shot me a frown and then smiled realizing that it wasn't the end of the world forgetting tomatoes and the bread.

Dad looked pretty content, even after a long day at work, I could tell his mind was still on "work" thoughts, which mom hates when he zones out about it, because he forced a smile at me from across the table.

"So! The good news-" I started, sighing heavily as adrenaline rushed through me thinking about how they would all react to what I was about to inform them about.

"Yeah?" Colin asked eagerly in mid-bite. He grabbed his sleeve and wiped his mouth across it leaving a mushed up glob of tomatoes and mayonnaise.

"I got accepted at NCSU!" I exclaimed setting down my eating utensils and looking at everyone's reaction.

Mom's mouth was gaping in shock, my dad was smiling widely and Colin just about spat out his BLT-remains in his mouth.

"Wait-you-g-got accepted?" My mom stuttered, breaking the awkward silence between us as Dad kept smiling and Colin began to pick up the bits of Bacon and lettuce that fell on his plate and shove them back into his mouth.

"Yeah I did!" I responded as I grabbed another BLT from the plate in the middle of our small circular glass table.

"Oh my gosh!" Mom cried standing up and walking over to me and giving me a big bear hug in congratulations.

"I'm so proud of you, son." Dad congratulated patting my shoulder on his way to the counter to grab yet another beer for himself.

"I didn't know you were that smart!" Colin complimented as he swallowed his chewed up, spit out and then back in his mouth BLT remains.

"Thanks. . . I think." I replied, pushing in my chair and shoving the last piece of my BLT into my mouth."Well, I'm going to go upstairs so, bye." I excused somewhat politely.

I ran up the stairs and posted a happy looking selfie on Instagram saying that I was accepted at NCU and then I tagged a few of my friends who I knew where going to be there for College with me too. To be honest, I had no idea I was that smart. I always sucked at school and personally I never thought I would get in to one of the best colleges in North Carolina and here I am now, accepted at North Carolina State University.

      Another advantage about me going to NCSU is that my dad went there too so he knows a lot about the school but my mom didn't go there, she went somewhere in Georgia and then she moved here, to North Carolina later on.

     I wonder what the University is going to be like, well only a few more months until I get to find out! My stomach flopped at the thought and I felt nervous. At least I will have Linnea with me. . . I hope.
