Chapter 1
"Brianna!" I shouted at my best friend who was shoving miscellaneous textbooks into her locker.
She continued to take her sweet time while I lingered ardently against the windowsill.
"What is it, Linny?" Brianna finally answered, continuing to ignore my stare.
When she finally turned around to face me, and I received an unexpected whiff of her luscious perfume.
"Soooo, do you think you will go to Homecoming?" I asked, digging rapidly through my locker to find my Geometry textbook.
"I'm not sure yet, I haven't been asked by anyone," Brianna sighed, slouching against Sophia's school-spirit embellished locker, " I don't even have a boyfriend yet. It's not fair... you have one and so does the whole freaking grade." Brianna huffed as she traced her finger down the locker's siding.
"I don't exactly have a boyfriend. . ." I started as I slammed my locker door shut, "Hey, we could go together, you know, as friends."
"First off, yeah you do-Ethan!" Brianna retorted, "Second, we could go as friends, but everyone else is going with a guy."
"Seriously Bri, he is just a friend, nothing more," I groaned, opening and closing my locker again, "As if he would ask me to homecoming." I mumbled glancing at my schedule,"Oh shoot, I should start walking to Geometry now or I will be late. I will talk to you in later in Bio."
"Oh, Linnea. . ." Brianna sighed,"Okay, have fun doing whatever in math class without me." Brianna fake-pouted, making her finger slide down her cheek as she pretended a tear was rolling down her face.
I offered her quick smile before we both took different ways down the puerile hallway.

I strolled into Geometry class with a smile on my lips. When I entered, I saw Mr. Sacharski up at the front of the classroom writing a new algebraic expression of the day on the board for us.
For clarification, the expression was just something to do while we waited for the other students to arrive to class, but today, majority of the class was strangely there on time.
"Hello Ms. Clement." Mr. Sacharski greeted warmly along with a nod of acknowledgment that I was now present in the room.
As he sat down, his chair squeaked a bit once he turned it to face his laptop and the rest of the class.
"Hello," I replied quietly as I concentrated more on finding a place to sit.
I began scanning the large room for a seat. I couldn't spot any at first, but then I realized that the only spot left was between Becca and Ethan at the far back.
"Hey, um, can I sit here?" I asked calmly trying to hide the nervousness in my small high pitched voice.
Becca quickly glanced over at Ethan who shrugged in agreement. She then tugged at her black hair extension a few times and glanced at the table and then back at the empty chair next to her.
Even though we definitely did not look like twins, Becca and I were born only hours apart. We had referred to each other as twins ever since we knew each other way back in preschool.
"Hi Linnea!" Becca squealed, breaking the silence between us three, "Of course you can." She nodded, sending me a forced toothy smile.
She smiled and motioned for me to come sit down, gesturing towards the yellow chair that was adjacent to her. I placed my first few textbooks on the table before Ethan looked up at me, running his fingers through his gelled dark brown hair.
"Hey Linny." Ethan greeted with a smile, his cheeks turning an adorable shade of pink as he offered me a brief wave.
I giggled softly before responding, "Hey." I answered, quickly setting the rest of my books down.
"Chapter 8, questions 53 through 61 are all due today," He reminded, "I am coming around now to check your assignments. Take them out now or you will receive a zero."
Instantly, I through my head back with a sigh as I realized I had forgotten to do the homework assignment, which was a phenomenon.
"Dammit." Ethan cursed, "Linnea, "Do you have the homework? I forgot to do it."
"Surprisingly not, last night was quite hectic." I replied, avoiding any eye contact with him.
"Shit." He sighed as he leaned his chair back and propped his feet on the desk, popping gum as he did so.
Secretly, I reached into the depths of my binder and yanked out an assignment from two weeks ago. I flattened it out and changed the date and the problem numbers. I exhaled deeply, knowing I was taking a high risk.
"Oh, look at that!" Becca laughed as she nonchalantly pulled out her homework from her binder, "Here Ethan, use this."
Ethan's agile eyes slowly glided towards me as he thought about Becca's previous action. Without pondering for much longer, he grabbed the paper and stealthily slid it by his, copying down everything as fast as he could.
"Ahem, Ethan?" A voice erupted from behind us, causing all of us at the table to turn around in our seats.
I could see the guilt linger in his eyes. He was definitely getting a DT for this one.
The whole class went silent, most likely because they knew what was going to happen to him. Ethan's adam's apple bobbed up and down as he swallowed. Running his hand through his hair once again, he looked up at his superior.
"Detention today right after school for two hours." He stated, slamming the detention slip on the table, causing me to jump a bit in my seat.
"Wait, but Becca here gave me her assignment to copy off of!" I retorted, swiping the page from Becca's grip. She jumped in her seat so subtly as he did so, and despite my lack of being observant, I noticed it.
"Ethan, this is your-," He paused and clicked his tongue as he scanned his chart, "-twelfth time forgetting to do your homework. Becca has completed all of them so far, so she gets an automatic pass, got it?"
"Yes, Mr. Sacharski." He sighed as he slid his hands in his pockets, as though attempting to make the situation less aggravating.
He turned to Becca who offered him a smirk and a wink.
Mr. Sacharski began to slowly walk back to his desk, when suddenly he pivoted around, causing us all to lurch back into our seats. He scanned the room, and yet again, his eyes landed on Ethan once again.
"Mr. Coon, feet off of the desk or I would love to add another hour to that detention of yours-"
Ethan let out a hearty laugh as he slipped his feet off of the table, "That, my friend, would not be necessary." He interjected.
Mr. Sacharski stifled a laugh as he sized him up, preparing to continue with class without more disruption.
"Damn, that guy's an asshole." Ethan muttered as he stretched the piece of gum in his mouth.
I looked to my right, towards Becca. Her presumably welcoming and friendly smile turned into an envious and disgusted frown. I examined her in order to distinguish why she was looking that way at me. My expression must have faltered because Becca immediately glanced at me and mimicked the look that I had made.
Something was really mysterious about Becca at the moment and I had no clue what it was.
I guess that was a mystery that I was going to have to figure out for myself.
