The Fight

As the morning sun reflected on her bedroom window and the bright yellow light hit her face, Wendy slowly opened her eyes, partly. To her astonishment, as her vision was slightly blur, she saw that her view was blocked by a white curtain sticking out right in front of her face from nowhere. As Wendy opened her eyes wider and sat up, confusedly, she realized that it was a large, white sheet of chart paper with a big SORRY written on it in block letters, in red ink.

Beside the chart paper stood Harvey, holding it and as he saw Wendy wake up, he said:

" I'm sorry Wendy, about last to last night. Jenna told me everything-- what I did when I got drunk and all. You have no idea, how embarrassed I am right now, that I don't even know how I managed walk up to you with this chart." Harvey apologized and started folding the chart.

" It's okay. I just hope you don't do that again, but that will only be possible if you quit drinking. The day you turned eighteen, you thought that finally you can taste wine, but then you got after it. So, I don't want see that bloody liquid in your hand ever again." Wendy warned him, getting out of bed and starting to tidy up the bed with Harvey's help.

At the breakfast table, Jenna had already laid the plates, glasses and cutlery for the three of them and had already made and laid  breakfast too( she had a habit of waking up way early, before Wendy and Harvey). Wendy came out of her room, dressed up neatly in a white capri pant and and a plain, purple tank top, with her neatly combed honey colored hair open loose, and dangling from every corner of her head,  and only socks in her feet, when she smelt hot, steamy baked bread, sweet and warm honey and butter, spicy tomatoe-y flavors from canned beans and many other delicious foods.

" Good morning! Wendy. Mornin' Harvey." Jenna greeted Wendy and Harvey.

" Morning Jenna" They greeted Jenna together.

As they all settled down on the dining table and poured out  food into their plates, there was a sudden, loud knock at the door, which broke the silence. Jenna immediately got out of her seat and went to answer the door.

As she opened the door and peered out through it, there was no sign of anyone outside, but then Jenna's eyes caught sight of the mail box. There were three letters sticking out of it. She took them out and one letter had Jenna's name on it, one had Harvey's and the other was for Wendy. Both were  from one person called Georgia Buckwald. Jenna wondered for a moment that who was she and then her memory hit her and she remembered.

Jenna took the letters inside with her and placed them on a shelf.

" Who was  it, Jenna. And whose letters are those?" Wendy asked Jenna.

" Wait, are they from Nix Daimon. But why would he write so many to one person?" Wendy asked again, curiously.

"No, they're not from Daimon. They're from our old classmate from swordfighting class, Georgia Buckwald." Jenna told her.

" Georgia Buckwald? I don't remem-- Ooohh, that tall brunette.Wow, she remembers us." Said Wendy trying to recall.

" Ofcourse she remembers us. She was closest to me." Said Jenna, distributing the letters amongst the three of them.

As they opened their letters, they got to know that they were birthday invitations, as it was Georgia's eighteenth birthday.

" Oh, wow, it's her birthday tomorrow and she's giving us the invitation just one day before the event. Couldn't she give it to us on the day of her birthday?" Harvey joked.

" And it's at...six p.m" Wendy said, her eyes on the invitation card.

"I think we should go. There's nothing else to do here otherwise." Jenna suggested.

When the clock struck 5:30, Wendy, Harvey and Jenna, all started preparing themselves and changing for the birthday party. Wendy borrowed a navy blue dress from Jenna and wore matching shoes and accssesories with it and also wore slight makeup. She slightly powdered her face, reddened her cheeks, and applied a transparent gloss on her lips for shine. She looked dazzling.

Jenna wore a maroon skirt with a shimmering, black crop top and heels. Harvey came out of his room, dressed as casually as ever, in ripped, demin jeans, a checkered shirt and a light grey hoodie on top.

When the three friends reached Georgia's house, and as they entered, to their surprise, the house was full of young teenagers and large groups and clusters of friends hanging around inside the house. It was slightly hot and stuffy, people were openly serving each other, drinks and wines, some were smoking inside the house, making it smellier and stuffier and Georgia was nowhere to be seen. It was very noisy, due to the laughing, screaming, hooting of people and loud music. Some boys were keeping an eye on the windows to see if the police were coming, so that they could warn others.

A girl wearing shorts and a tank top, with her arms covered with tattoos, walked up to Harvey and said something, but he couldn't hear her because of the loud music. Wendy rolled her eyes at them and pulled Harvey away.

" We need to get out of here right now. What they're all doing here is illegal and don't talk to ayone, they're all strangers." Wendy whispered to Harvey, tugging at his arm.

Then she felt something brush against her back, softly. It was a boy's arm. Not Harvey's. As Wendy whipped her head back, he was gone.

What was that? She thought. But then she ignored the thought and was asking Jenna and Harvey to leave the place with her, when thay saw Georgia walking up to them.

" Hey! Hi Jenna, Wendy and you must be Harvey. Thanks for coming to my party." Georgia said in her usual cheery voice.

" Hi its's nice to meet you after two years. I'm sorry for not staying contact with you." Replied Jenna.

" It's okay. If you people are not comfortable in this environment, then I can take you outside in my lawn." Georgia offered them.

" Yes that would be better." Jenna spoke for her friends.

The four of them sat outside in the lawn where it was quieter, on a garden table. Georgia placed a corked bottle in the center of the table and some food and then they talked and talked about random things. And Harvey kept drinking from the bottle secretly, when Wendy wouldn't be looking at him.

All three of them came home, tired and sleepy and especialy Harvey was again slightly drunk and feeling dizzy. He accidently tripped from a rug and fell flat on Wendy's chest.

" Harvey ,what the--GET OFF ME!"  Wendy yelled at him. " Your mouth smells like...wine!" She exclaimed.

Harvey quickly got off Wendy's chest and dragged himself through the corridor of their house, banging himself against a wall, twice, accidently,as he did so.

" You drank again? Eventhough I told you not to?" Wendy questioned Harvey, as if she was his mother.

" Stop mothering me around. I'm not a kid. You think I'll do exactly as you say!?" Harvey snapped at her, annoyed.

" Well, if you'll be so irresposible, then others will have to care for you." Wendy said, trying to control her anger.

" Thankyou very much and please stop worrying about me. I'm eighteen and I can take care of myself." Harvey retorted.

" Fine. Then I bet you can live on your own as well." Wendy snapped back, not being able to control her anger, now.

" Excuse me, what's that suppose to mean?" Jenna interrupted in between the two friends' argument.

" I mean, if you can care for yourself, then you can live on your own too." Wendy repeated, looking at Harvey, sternly.

" Fine! If you want me to leave this house, then I will and I'll show you that I can *** live on my own." Harvey vociferated.

The drunken Harvey, didn't realize at all, how he had behaved with Wendy and stormed into his room, packed his bags instantly and without even looking behind and saying goodbye to Wendy and Jenna, quietly stepped out of the house.Did he even have any idea where he was going to stay from that night, onwards.

The moment Harvey slammed the door behind him, Wendy realized what she had done. She clasped her hands over her mouth and started pacing back and forth across the corridor.

What have I done. Wendy thought.
