Cracks

"Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday Dear Kairi, Happy Birthday to you."

Kairi couldn't stop the blush as she was sung too. It was her Fifth Birthday, everyone came including _.

"Make a wish Kairi."

She looked at the cake in front of her, glowing with the five candles. Kairi took in a deep breath and blew as hard as she could. All the candles went out and everyone applauded.

"Kairi," Kairi looked up to _ as he handed her a small box, "I saw this on my last mission. I thought it would look good on you ya know?" Kairi unwrapped the small box. When she opened the lid, her eyes lit up. Inside was a pearl drop necklace. It was pretty!

"I wanna put it on now," Kairi took the jewelry from the box.

"Hold on, I'll help you," the bandaged hand took it from her grasp and secured it around her neck.

Kairi couldn't stop smiling, she felt so pretty with it on.

"Look at that, it matches your eyes.

Kairi woke up. She was lying on a copy of her bed. Kairi was able to create a copy of her room back home. When she needed to rest, she would come here.

She sat up and rubbed her eye, a part of her was a little confused since she was technically asleep, but then again, she was aware. Maybe her mind and heart were awake and that didn't fully count as being asleep.

Kairi got out of bed as she made her way to the door, she stopped for a second in front of her mirror. She looked at her face. Normal blue eyes and clear skin. Kairi couldn't stop herself from rubbing her cheek.

Everytime she activated the Byakugan or use her chakra in general, her face would change. Her eyes turned white, that was normal apparently the Byakugan turned the user's eyes white. However, there was also whisker marks on her face. They went away when she stopped using her chakra, so she looked normal most of the time

Kairi didn't understand what was going on with her. Not to mention her memories seemed to be… cracking.

Kairi couldn't remember what her grandmother looked like anymore. The memories of Radiant Garden she had as a child, just felt they were crumbling away. And the cracks they were making were, showing something different.

Kairi didn't want to admit the obvious yet. Aqua and Mickey saved her as a child. They would have told her that she didn't live in Radiant Garden as child.

They would have told her everything they knew.

"Goofy, how did you get stuck?" Donald started pulling on Goofy to get him out of the giant flower… Well, the flower was normal size, they were shrunk. Mickey was helping Donald trying to get Goofy out of the flower.

Finally after a series of pulls, Goofy was free, but the force behind the pulls caused them to stumble backwards and hit a tree.

"A-hyuck, thank fellers," Goofy said.

Mickey started to rub his head. They were checking the worlds Sora had previously visited to see if they could find a way to save him. They were hoping the worlds Sora had touched could lead them to their missing friend.

It was starting to look like Wonderland wasn't going to work. Maybe they could try, Deep Jungle, or the Olympus Coliseum. Maybe Radiant Garden.

Mickey recalled that Radiant Garden was where-Kairi wasn't there!

Mickey blinked when his mind suddenly lapsed. He knew he first saw Kairi there as a little girl. He met Aqua there for the first time too, but… Why couldn't he remember?

"Your majesty?" Donald asked.

"You there, off with your heads!"

"Uh-oh," Goofy got up, "Time to skedaddle!"

Aqua held her head when it started to ache.

"Aqua?" Terra asked concerned.

Aqua looked up, "I'm okay," Aqua continued to walk with them. She didn't want to concern them with her headaches. For some reason she had been having headaches again.

"So anyway," Ven kept talking, "I heard there's a mountain where the people carved the faces of their best leaders. Can you imagine that?"

"I can," Aqua said. Just like that world… that world. Aqua felt confused, what world was she thinking of?

Namine held her head as she leaned onto the table at the bistro.

"Namine are you okay?" Xion asked.

"My memories," Namine said, "They're being altered." Namine was versed with magic over memories, she knew the sensation of memories being changed when she felt it.

"Are you okay?" Xion asked concerned, "What's happening, do you remember who you are?"

"I know who I am," Namine started to search her mind with her own magic, looking for the changes, "I'm checking now, I'm… Wait."

"What?"

"It's not my memories that's being altered," Namine realized.

"It's not."

"No," Namine looked at Xion, "It's Kairi's!"

Sora watched his friends who were also affected by the change in Kairi's memories.

"Are they going to be okay?" Sora asked concerned.

"They should be fine," Neji said, "Luxu altered Aqua and your King's memories when he fought them all those years ago. He's clearly not one to miss a chance."

"I still can't believe that guy was actually using Xehanort," Sora said. He didn't think that was possible. Xehanort was the most manipulative guy he ever met. To think someone else manipulated him, seemed way to crazy to believe.

"I met an enemy that met a similar fate," Neji said he recalled Madara. He died after Madara was overthrown by the Black Zetsu but he still saw it from the other side, "Sometimes one can be so arrogant they can't even tell that they are being used."

"I need to figure so much stuff out," Sora admitted, "But I don't know where to start."

"At least you admit your shortcomings," Neji said.

Sora looked at him, "What can you tell me about your world."

"Why do you want to know?" Neji asked.

"Because it's Kairi's Home World. I want to know more about it," then maybe he can know more about her. Sora had to choose his words carefully. Neji could be scary when he wanted to be.

Neji was Kairi's uncle, well he was Kairi's mom's cousin, but they were apparently close in life that she saw Neji as her brother. So, he was considered Kairi's uncle.

Neji looked at Sora, it probably would be a good idea to educate him about his world. It would help prepare him and Kairi when she introduced Sora to…

Neji smiled when he finished that thought. Sora flinched. That was a scary smile that promised Sora pain.

"Well, to begin with," Neji began, "Our world is divided into nations. The five great nations are the lands of: Water, Lightning, Earth, Wind, and Fire. The last one is where Kairi is from. The great Nations are ruled by a feudal lord and Kage. The Kage are the military leaders of these nations. They are considered the strongest ninja in the world. The Kazekage rules the wind, Mizukage the water, Tsuchikage of the Earth, Raikage of lightning, and the Hokage of fire."

Sora nodded. Okay, they were really powerful, and really big deals.

"The current Hokage," Neji stressed, "Is the strongest Kage of them all. Only one other ninja in our world is considered his equal, his rival. He has nearly limitless chakra, has the power of a Tailed-Beast, creatures of great chakra and power, sealed within him. He fought and destroyed armies, defeated dangerous threats to my world: Madara, Kaguya, he rallied together allies to support him, and defeated enemies that were basically akin to gods even threats from outside our world."

"Okay," Sora nodded. Definitely not someone Sora wanted to get mad.

"And lastly," Neji leaned into Sora's face, "He's Kairi's father."

All the color from Sora's face drained from that statement.

"So," Neji smirked, "Try not to mess things up with Kairi, alright?"

Kairi was practicing with her Keyblade. She didn't want to get rusty with her Keyblade while she trained with Neji, so when she had time, she practiced with her Keyblade.

Kairi.

Kairi stopped and looked around. She heard someone say her name.

Kairi.

Kairi kept looking. This wasn't a… episode, someone was calling for her in reality. Or whatever this place was.

"Kairi."

Kairi nearly jumped before turning around to see Neji. Kairi didn't know why, but Neji seemed, satisfied.

"Why are you in a good mood?"

"Who says I am," Neji deflected, "Now come with me, we're going to practice your gentle fist today."

"Alright," Neji was acting weird but Kairi didn't protest. Then Kairi thought of something, "Neji did you hear anyone calling me just before you got here?"

Neji looked at her, "No, why?"

"I thought I heard someone, a kid saying my name," Kairi said.

Neji looked away, "I didn't hear anything, let's continue your training."

As they walked, Neji was silent. It wasn't a lie, Neji didn't hear another voice calling Kairi, but that didn't mean Neji didn't believe Kairi, or not know who it was that was calling her.

"Please," Boruto begged as he followed Mirai, "You've got to know something."

"Boruto I told you," Mirai turned around, "Yeah we were friends, but I was just a kid. I wasn't even a Genin yet. I couldn't be part of her search."

"Didn't you ever wonder what happened to her?"

"Of course, I wondered," Mirai snapped, "But that's none of your business." With that Mirai vanished. Boruto blinked, did she use a genjutsu to ditch him again?

"Oh come on," Boruto slumped, "It is my business, she's my sister…"

That night, Boruto laid in bed looking at Kairi's picture.

"Where are you, Kairi?" Boruto asked.

"64 palms!" The white stone shattered after Kairi's brutal attack. Kairi took in a deep breath. Every time she practiced that she ran out of breath.

"You're coming along," Neji commented, "But that was a stationary target. You need to fight a living target," Neji got into his stanced.

"Well, technically you're dead so-…" Kairi stopped talking as she dodged a palm strike from Neji. Realizing she wasn't getting out of this, Kairi activated her Byakugan and countered. Just as her palm was about to hit, Neji hit a chakra point in her arm, halting her chakra, making the hit not as a effective.

Kairi jumped back with a growl. She quickly jabbed the point he just hit to restart the flow of Chakra. It still wouldn't flow as fast as it normally would for a while, but it was better than nothing.

Kairi then went back to attacking. Neji told her to attack him as if she were to kill. He was already dead, so it wouldn't matter. Kairi still didn't like that, but she gave it her all. Which was hard.

The Byakugan had only one tiny blind spot, but since they moved so much it didn't matter. They still basically had eyes on the back of their head. So trying to go for a blind attack was basically impossible. The only way to fight someone with Byakugan was head on.

Neji mastered the Byakugan while Kairi was still getting used to. On worse days, she couldn't tell which way she was facing. Not to mention Neji was martial arts expert, where Kairi's specialty was her weapon. On accident, Kairi sometimes summoned her Keyblade to defend. However, she tried not to do that, she wanted the skill Neji was training her to have. So, she told herself over and over again, she wouldn't use her Keyblade during her training with Neji, that's why she trained with her Keyblade on her own.

As Kairi fought she examined Neji. Neji rarely had any openings for an attack. He could easily counter her attacks and block her chakra points. His stance was always perfect. Kairi made it a goal to at least get one strong hit on Neji. She'd never been able to pull it off, but she was still going to try.

Neji also examined Kairi. She had a strong stance, and good reflexes and speed. She got better, even by a little bit whenever they sparred. She could also undo the blocked chakra points. That was a skill few Hyuga could do and Kairi figured it out on her own… If only she was raised on their world.

Kairi looked at Neji, she went through all the failed strategies she tried. Sneak attacks don't work, and Neji's guard always protected his face and upper body… upper body. Kairi got an idea. She didn't know if it would work, but she was still going to try.

Here goes nothing!

Kairi shot forward. Her arm drawn back for a strike directed towards his chest. Neji prepared to counter.

Kairi was close, however when she shot her palm out. She changed the target in an instant. Landing a chakra filled strike on the ground between them, more accurately, the ground supporting Neji's feet. A small shockwave was released. Not enough to knock him off his feet, but enough to put him off balance.

Now was Kairi's chance. She shot up, a strike to go to Neji's face. He couldn't dodge, he had to center himself instead of preparing to counter. Kairi's hand bypassed the area that she was normally stopped at.

I win!

Kairi's hand landed on Neji's, but something pushed back, "Eight Trigrams: Palm Rotation."

Neji started to spin, the next thing Kairi knew, she was sent flying back. She couldn't tell the difference between ocean and sky as she spun through the air, until she finally landed. The hand that landed on Neji stung, her head was spinning, and she could feel her Byakugan deactivate.

Neji won again.

When Kairi got her bearings, she sighed and sat up. Neji walked towards her, "You did well. It's been a while since I was pushed to use Rotation."

Kairi then remembered the fight at the Graveyard, "Was that the same one from...?"

"Yes," Neji nodded, "I used it to free you."

"Would have been nice to know that you had that up your sleeve," Kairi shot a quick glare.

"A real enemy won't tell you all their tricks," Neji said.

Kairi sighed.

"But you did manage to surprise me," Neji continued, "You have your father's… spontaneous attacks."

Kairi looked at Neji, "So, now we can talk about him?"

"You're getting stronger," Neji admitted. Kairi would be able to remember on her own soon, so he wanted her to have something to hang onto, "He was the only one I ever lost to."

Kairi stood up and looked at Neji worried, "Was he the one who...?"

"Your father didn't kill me," Neji answered the unfinished question. Kairi sighed in relief, "There was a war. Your father was the one to stop, I knew that. I knew that even before the war started. He was about to be killed, so I shielded him from the attack."

Kairi looked at him, Neji died for her father.

"If he's as strong as you say, why couldn't he defend himself?" Kairi asked.

"Our enemy was the strongest we ever faced," Neji said, "Even your father couldn't fight him alone. Even the strongest of us, need to rely on support of others."

"He sounded incredible."

"He was an idiot," Neji deadpanned, "He was a loud, obnoxious, idiot, yet your mother was infatuated with him since they were children."

Kairi couldn't help but look at him like he was the idiot.

"Clearly that's something you get from your mother, being in love with idiots."

Kairi's face turned red, "Sora's not an idiot… Not all the time. You know he saved the world three times!"

"I acknowledge he's strong," Neji said, "but I still consider him a fool."

"Says the guy who died for a fool," Kairi reminded.

That's when Neji made a sound, if Kairi didn't know any better, she would have said it was a chuckle.

"I guess you're right."

Namine walked into the lab where Kairi rested. She looked at her red haired twin, then at the scientists who were… arguing.

"I told you that the helix does not have that many chromosomes!" Even stated.

"Then how can the structure be stable?" Ienzo asked.

"Um…" Namine made her presence known with an awkward noise. Even and Ienzo looked at her.

"Namine, good, we need your assistance," Even walked up to her, "May we have some of your DNA?"

"Why?" Namine asked uncomfortably.

"Because, Kairi's DNA is different from normal, we need to examine yours for reference."

"I'm here because, something strange is happening to Kairi's memories," Namine said. She needed to get her point across, "Her memories of living here as a child are crumbling."

Even and Ienzo looked confused, "What are you talking about? Kairi never lived here as a child."

I still remember when I first watch Xigbar reveal himself as Luxu. When that happened nothing made sense anymore.

What is life? Is it an eternal quest for Keyblade? And what is a Keyblade anyway? Just a reminder that we are all one Keyblade War away from oblivion. We never truly know what are roles are. We may think we are the ring master, but in reality we could be clowns. And what of the Fox, who wears a mask of uncertainty? Who is she? Who are you? Who am I? Who is anybody?

That was my reaction to that historic reveal
