"What do you mean he doesn't have a brother? He just said it himself." Sasumi asked a bit confused.
"I've been to his house before, he's an only chi-." Naruko stopped herself as a memory flashed through her mind.
"Naruko? What's wrong?" Sasumi asked as tears were dripping from Naruko's eyes.
"Naruko!" She smacked her cheek softly to get her back.
"Ah, I'm sorry. I just remembered something-excuse me." She got up and ran out of the classroom.
What was that about?
Sasumi looked back at Hino who was staring out the window.
"So, your brother cut your hair?" Sasumi asked as he looked at her.
"Yes." He sighed.
"Naruko said you didn't have a brother." Sasumi said as Hino's eyes widened.
"I do, it was during those years I hadn't shown up to school." He replied.
"Why didn't you come to school?" She insisted.
"I.." He looked at her but then shook his head.
"It was nothing, just family business." He said looking out the window again.
"Class is starting." The teacher walked in interrupting them.
Naruko walked back to class where she looked at Hino then down at her desk.
Lunch
Naruko walked up to Hino who for half of the class was staring out the window.
"We need to talk." He felt someone grab his shoulder.
"Alright?" He questioned but followed her.
Sasumi's eyes followed them as they walked out of the classroom.
Together.
Call it curiosity, but she had to know what they were going to do. So, she followed them.
They reached the rooftop where Hino and Naruko were laying on a bench staring out into the sky.
"Isn't it funny?" He broke the silence.
"The sky?" She replied.
"That everyday we look at the same sky, we look at it and never realize that one day in the blink of an eye, we might not be able to look at it ever again." He said.
"That's crazy talk." She replied.
"I guess." He sighed.
"How is it?" She cut straight to the chase.
"Worse." He replied as she sat up to look at him.
"Why didn't you tell me?" She replied.
"I'm sorry."
"You haven't told anyone, right?" He asked.
"Do you want me too?" She said.
"No, don't tell anyone. Especially, Sasumi-Chan." He said as Naruko raised a brow.
"N-Not like I-I like her or a-anything like that." He fidgeted while blushing.
He doesn't like me?
She felt her heart sink but brushed it off.
"We better get going." Naruko said as she realized they were coming closer and hid behind the entrance to the roof.
It wasn't until she felt something come over her and let out a sneeze.
Hino and Naruko looked at each other then nodded.
Naruko went to one end while Hino went to the other.
He faced her with eyes wide as there were tears rolling down-her cheeks.
"Sasumi..chan.."
