Chapter 5
After Peter had deposited Miles in his bed and entered his own room he was overcome by a sudden bout of drowsiness and he barely managed make to his bed before he passed out on top of the covers, still in his costume.
When Peter woke up the next morning to find the room that he had been sleeping in was excessively bright. Blinking against the harsh lights in room, Spider-Man tried to sit up only to find his body sticking to his bed. No problem, this was often normal for him: it would sort itself out in a few minutes after he had fully woken up. He hoped.
Something was wrong and Peter could sense it: the lights should not be this bright, nor should the hum of electricity powering the tower be this loud, he should not be able to hear the breathing of the people in the rooms on either side of his, the smells in the room were far to strong, his spidey-sense was going haywire and the uncontrolled stickiness should have worn off by now. The symptoms were similar to a sensory overload but he was certain that this was not a sensory overload; some sort of unidentifiable feeling told him that much.
Peter tried to control is breathing and get his powers under control. His stomach churned and his heart rate rose, further adding to the discomfort of the situation.
With a bit of difficulty he managed to get himself unstuck and get out of his room. It was not a fun experience but he did manage to make his way to the kitchen without getting stuck too many times.

The noise in the kitchen was unbearable. With his senses heightened, Peter heard far more than normal and the conversations were far more annoying to him than the regular steady breathing of the tower's inhabitants. He was also forced to squint and blink frequently against the bright, white lights of the tower as he continued the kitchen.
"Help," whispered Peter. He resisted covering his ears in case his hands got stuck to his head but the sound of his own voice made his head spin and his ears ache. He desperately hoped that someone had heard him because he didn't want to repeat himself.
Peter heard some panicked yelling and subsequent groaning coming from the direction he had just come from, not good.
Peter's prayers were answered when Steve turned around and his eyes landed on the teenager. Looking through his eyelashes, Peter could see the super-soldier's critical gaze taking a hurried inventory of his appearance.
Judging by the older hero's furrowed eyebrows and frown, Peter did not look pretty. Of course, the wall crawling hero could have guessed that even though he hadn't looked in a mirror. He probably had a bedhead and he could feel the way he stood demonstrated terrible posture but he couldn't bring himself to care about that right now. While he was in pain. While every nerve in his body was protesting against his existence. While the pressure building up inside his head was threatening to escape by whatever means necessary.
Steve didn't say anything. He motioned for Peter to follow him and walked away with a much more careful stride than he would normally use. His steps were deliberately quiet, even if it meant that he was walking much slower than he normally would. He did occasionally glance behind him to check that Peter hadn't gotten stuck to anything.
There was an uncomfortable feeling in the pit of is stomach. He could imagine that it was a lead brick that had settled in his gut because of the heavy, intangible weight resting there that making him slightly nauseous. He would normally have told one of his colleges to go back to bed or taken them to the med bay if they called for help but this wasn't a normal situation. Instead, he led Peter his own room.
It seemed that at least one of the younger heroes problems was his heightened senses being worse than normal. He hadn't needed to be told of that ability, he had seen how Spider-Man cringed when there was a semi-loud noise or looked away from lights that most normal people wouldn't have a problem with- no matter how well he tried hide it. Most people probably didn't notice these small quirks and the only reason as to why he had seen it was that he did the exact same thing. Come to think about it, it probably wasn't the healthiest thing to try and hide something like that from the majority of a person's team.
Another thing that he noticed was that Peter moved his feet slowly with what appeared to be a lot of effort, almost as if the floor wanted to stop him from moving. If his stickiness and senses had improved then his other powers may have improved as well. If that was what the ray had done then he now was a thousand times more guilty about not helping than he was before. He wasn't sure what he'd do if his abilities improved so much that they hurt him.

Steve's room was spacious and extremely comfortable but the best thing about it, for people with enhanced senses, was that the walls were sound proofed and the lights had adjustable brightness at the touch of a button. There was also a lack of electronics in comparison to the rest of the tower.
As silently as possible, Steve turned the lights down, found a pen and paper and wrote a message. From his personal experience this was one of the preferable ways to communicate with someone when he had a sensory overload. The note only said that Peter could wait in his room for as long as necessary but it was enough to put a smile on the younger hero's face.
Steve left the room for his new task: find Tony and get him to work on finding a cure. Quickly if possible. Before someone go hurt. There was already a lot of noise coming from the S.H.I.E.L.D. heroes wing, mostly thumps. If the other young heroes were having the same problems as Peter then it was just a matter of time until the tower was destroyed.

While he was on the way to Tony's lab he bumped in to Amadeus. The pair discussed the other heroes while on the way to the lab.
Apparently, Amadeus found out when he visited Miles that morning. After he assured Miles that everything would be okay he offered Miles a strong sedative that would keep him unconscious for at least an hour. Miles had gratefully accepted it and a few extras that he could use once he woke up again.
Amadeus was determined to help his friend, even if it meant that he would have to destroy himself to do it. He already missed the cuddles and friendly interactions between the two of them. Miles was his best and only friend. Sure, the other Web Warriors could be considered friends as well but the genius considered them to be more like the perfect big brothers he hadn't realised that he was missing until they became a part of his life. He had one friend and three big brothers. They were the only people he needed in his life and he refused to leave them to suffer.
When they reached the lab they found Tony sleeping in a chair, his head tipped back over the headrest. Steve, in an act of uncharacteristic impatience, shook the billionaire awake. Tony jolted upright due to the none to gentle awakening and was about to make some sort of sarcastic comment but stopped when he saw the faces in front of him. It was going to be a long day.
I'm sorry for the wait. I hope that you enjoyed this chapter. If you have something that you want included or a character or relationship that you want focusing on then please tell me.
