ntw[ro. FeDex] When He Needs A Break..
Note: Ayyy, my first request!
Thank you to HiImGrapes for requesting a Dex oneshot from his lover's pov (they said Marella or Fitz would work, and since I feel like my story should be gayer then it is currently (literally like, do I have any oneshots yet that are gay? Like, plainly gay? I know I've mentioned Elwin x Terik and Elwin x Cassius, but besides that..) I chose Fitz to be Dex's bf.)
Also how am I just now realizing that my kindle emoji library doesn't have a rainbow flag? I'm angry now. Rainbow flag spam here please -->
Sorry I'm feeling very chaotic gay right now aaa-
Uh-
Anygay, hope you enjoy! And tell me what you think! (If you don't like it I can try again..)
. . .
Fitz knocked on Dex's bedroom door, ignoring the triplets as they oohed and giggled before continuing to chase each other through the house. He wondered if they'd ever lose their crazy energy, because he knew that Dex would greatly enjoy it if Rex, Bex and Lex did calm down some time soon.
"I'm busy right now!" Dex called, no doubt figuring that his siblings were the ones bothering him, so Fitz slowly opened the door, sticking his head in.
"It's me," he said, "Busy with what?"
Dex turned to look at him, his tired eyes lighting up. "Oh, Fitz. Uh—I dunno, still figuring out this...weapon stuff." he cringed, meeting Fitz's eyes.
Dex knew that Fitz didn't have a issue with his making the Council's classified weapons, but he also knew that Fitz had a issue with him spending every spare minute he got on it. And if his red rimmed eyes and obvious fighting back of a yawn was any indication..
Fitz hummed, walking in to the room, careful not to go close enough to see the classified weapon plans, even though Dex had assured him that, since Fitz knew very well how to keep a secret (what with his secret searching the Forbidden Cities for project moonlark and all), he could come closer to the desk and the Council wouldn't have to know if he saw everything. Even with that permission from the love of his life, the fact remained that he didn't feel comfortable risking his boyfriend's potential safety over something so trivial.
"How long have you been busy with that?" he asked, crossing over to sit on Dex's bed.
Dex looked at what he had called his "watch"—a device modeled after something that humans wore that was basically a small clock on his wrist.
He squinted slightly at the time before shrugging, mumbling, "About seven hours.."
"Baby, come here. You need a break." Fitz said, patting a spot on the bed.
"No, the Neverseen could attack at anytime and—" Dex yawned, blushing as his mouth closed. "I...guess a few minutes couldn't hurt.." he conceded, getting up from his desk and joining Fitz on the bed, Fitz putting a comforting arm around his man.
"Mhm, That's what I thought." he chuckled, breathing in Dex's blueberry and cream scent as he pulled him close.
"I didn't even realize I was tired," Dex said, looking up, playfully suspicious, at Fitz, "Are you secretly a mesmer?"
Fitz smiled. "Maybe, maybe not."
"I think you must be."
"Wha—" Fitz gasped, feigning hurt, "Are you saying that I make you do things that you don't want to do?"
Dex shrugged. "Well. Maybe beguiler, actually."
"So I manipulate you to make you think you want to do things when you don't really?"
"Your eyes and voice are pretty beguiling, that's all I'm sayin'." Dex shrugged.
"Hey, I can't control the fact that I was made beautiful," Fitz teased, "And if those things make me a beguiler, then you must be too, because your eyes are the prettiest thing I've ever seen. And your dimples—I am simply head-over-heals in love with those." Fitz said, tracing a line down Dex's cheek and cupping his face in his palm.
"Mn, you're getting pretty intrusive," Dex mumbled.
Fitz chuckled lightly, stooping in for a kiss. "How's that for intrusive?"
Dex's periwinkle eyes shone with pleasure. "Simply the worst. Come on, you're telling me that the Wonder Boy can't do better then that?" he teased.
Fitz clutched his chest, playing along. "Why, are you saying that my kisses are unsatisfactory?"
"Why, are you saying that you can't do better?" Dex challenged.
Fitz huffed. "Well, I suppose I must try again to prove you wrong," Fitz said, standing up and taking his place in front of Dex, "Close your eyes."
Dex did and Fitz slipped his left hand behind his boyfriend's head, then lay his right hand on his shoulder, leaning in to fan Dex's face with his breath, slowly inching even closer until their lips met, his right hand slipping down to Dex's mid back.
As Dex returned the kiss and clung to Fitz, the Vacker couldn't help but fall even further for the Dizznee, if it were possible.
Before, Fitz never would've thought that he'd fall in love with the product of a bad match, and would never have thought of Dex as anything more then that. But he was. He was SO MUCH more then the son of a talentless father and brother of crazy multibirth siblings.
He was smart, and charming, and funny. He had a solution for almost every problem, and he was loyal. So, so fiercely loyal to his friends and family. He was guarded and anxious, with about a million trust issues decorating his mental walls of protection, and he fought a lot of inner battles, but didn't let them make him unproductive or depressed and lazy. He learned from his mistakes, and when he had someone to love he never hesitated to pour himself out for them.
And Dex loved his family more then anything. Even with how open he was about getting annoyed at his siblings, if anyone at Foxfire even tried to bully them, Dex was already planning pranks to get back at them with. More then a few times while Fitz was over, a triplet would get hurt and Dex would find a elixir and bandage, comforting them until they were ready to go play again. And Fitz admired that.
It really made him wonder if he was that for Biana. He would remember back to her showdown in nightfall with Vespera, and wish that he'd been there for his little sister to protect her, and visited her more often afterward then he did. Built her up and told her that she was still beautiful, no matter what. But no, she had had to realize that herself. Because he'd been too busy hating his older brother to really think about what pain she may've been going through.
Fitz broke away to let the both of them breathe and Dex's eyes fluttered open.
"O-Okay," Dex said in between breaths, "That was definitely satisfactory."
"Good," Fitz said, laying his head on his boyfriend's forehead, "Because you deserve only the best."
Now that Fitz knew Dex, it was impossible for him to not see the pure love that was written all over him. And it hurt to think that, without Sophie Foster, he might never have known him. Might never have cared that he existed.
Dex's eyes started to close, but then he opened them again, suddenly wide awake, but plainly exhausted, and Fitz knew him well enough to know what that meant.
"Do you want me to hold you while you take a nap?" he asked, backing up a step or two.
"I-If you don't mind...sorry.." Dex mumbled, then yawned.
Fitz nodded. "I don't mind. It isn't your fault."
Fitz climbed into Dex's bed and both boys got comfortable under the blankets, the Vacker's arms around his boyfriend, ready to keep him safe from any memories that would try to hurt him again.
As Dex yawned again while getting in a comfortable position to sleep, Fitz said, "I'm starting to think that you were working a lot longer then seven hours."
"Maybe...I don't know at this point." Dex mumbled, nestling his face into his boyfriend's tunic. His strawberry blonde hair stuck out in all directions adorably and Fitz pressed a kiss to the top of his head.
"Well, I hope you'll sleep well now and wake up refreshed and ready for whatever else still needs done."
"Mnhm." he agreed, drifting off.
Fitz just closed his eyes and marveled again in the fact that he had the best boyfriend in the universe all to himself.
