Whatever It Takes Part 1
Hyperspace
Only 5 minutes had passed since the ambush on the moon. 5 minutes since the fiercest battle the Ghost crew had seen. 5 minutes since nearly everything could be gone.
Chopper helped Stahl carry the others to the med bay. The trail of mixed blood began looking as if it was one of Sabines paintings. Hera and Kanan were put in the med bay room since they were a couple and it would make things less awkward for when they woke up. If they woke up.
Sabine and Ezra were put in another med room together for the same reason. Zeb was lucky that there was another med bay for him to be alone in, but it was the last med bay. Chopper knew this and was weary about Stahl because even though the kid dove right into looking for the proper medical equipment for everyone. His wounds weren't hard to spot.
The stained blood on his ragged torn up clothes from the explosion covered a huge amount of his clothing. His blood still continued to leak from his open wound on his left shoulder and right kidney, but it was at a steady enough pace for Stahl not to give it a second thought.
As Stahl grabbed the IV fluid from the top shelf and the stitch equipment Chopper rolled beside him beeping *Stahl your wounds*. Stahl looked down at the astromech exposing little to no concern in his eyes calmly asking "What about them?".
*The-they're leaking fluid and don't seemed to be stopping. You need to find a medical bed to rest* Chopper beeped reaching out to take the med supplies from Stahl. Before he could Stahl lifted the supplies up above the astromechs head knowing that the droid wouldn't dare attempt to fly with Hera being near and vulnerable.
Stahl walked over go Heras side seeing the pain on her face. The sight of Hera condition began weakening Stahl as he couldn't help but feel responsible. If only he had managed to be strong enough for when she needed him.
Stahl pushed these thoughts out of his head as he reached for the bandages. The bandages weren't for Hera but for him so he could temporarily stop his bleeding and not risk infecting Hera with his blood. Stahl may not have known much about Twi'lek biology, but the most basic knowledge that he did remember from his classes long ago is that if enough human blood gets into a Twi'leks blood stream the Twi'lek will die a slow painful death.
After Stahl tightly wound both wounds to limit the blood flow he rolled up his sleeves and proceeded to the sink. As he turned the fosset on feeling the cold water run over his skin he stared down at the amount of blood that was washing into the drain without him even needing to do anything.
The sink just dance with the lightness of red. Almost all of Stahls left arms was dripping in blood with the right arms being nearly as bad. This is what Chopper was worried about because he didn't know how much blood Stahl had lost and if Stahl pushed himself too far his body would forcably shut down.
Chopper continued to try to get to Stahl lowly beeping at him to lie down. Stahl just kept the droid at bay with his right foot as he washed away the blood as best as he could.
The blood that was left over once Stahl was done was alreadied dried up blood. Stahl still wasn't going to risk Hera's life.
He grabbed a pair of plastic gloves out of a box in the bottom cabinet and snapped them onto his hands. Stahl then activated the body scanner.
As it scanned Stahl was already getting a full report of Hera's wounds. Multiple open cuts especially one big one across her chest, her should was out of alignment and she had already lost 20 percent of her blood.
The scanning was long for Stahl and Chopper to bare. When it was finished Stahl quickly rechecked the reports and Hera seemed to have even more wounds on her legs.
The report alone already sent a tear down Stahls cheek. The person who Stahl carried the most amount of respect for was hurting this badly. In some ways Stahl found himself responsible for the whole thing. If he had just allowed Kanan too save him. If he hadn't allowed his damn pride to get the better of him like.....like.....
Stahl shook those thoughts from his head needing to focus on the here and now. He grabbed a pair of siccors and proceeded to cut off Heras cloths except for her underwear.
Once those were discarded Stahl took a moment stunned at the swelling the wounds already had. The blood didn't help much.
Stahl swiftly shifted back into medical mode. He dumbed disinfectant onto a hand towel Chopper had gotten him and proceeded to smack that on Hera's wounds.
Upon impact Hera woke up screaming from the sudden pain. The place Stahl had chosen to clean was a huge nash near Hera's kidneys and it hurt badly. The pain quickly died down turning into a cool feeling for Hera which sent her back to sleep.
Stahl signed in relief as he took the bloodied cloth off. He handed it to Chopper ordering "Go clean that off.". Chopper followed his order and rolled away as Stahl grabbed the needle and string. Stahl wrapped the string through the hole and tied it really tightly twice. He then place a hand on Hera's waist knowing what was about to happen.
Stahl took a deep breath before plunging the needle into Heras skin. Hera again woke up in pain screaming at the top of her lungs. She twisted and turned to try and get away from the pain. Stahl held her down so he could continue stitching her up knowing that her resistance was only out of instinct. Just because it was out of instinct didn't mean it was easy.
Stahl had to continuously fight Hera as she turned and screamed trying to get away. She even punched him in the face as a resort which nearly made Stahl rip the needle out. Chopper heard the screaming and rushed in beside Hera holding her left hand which made things easier since it was the hand she was using to punch Stahl.
After a few more stitches the cut was sealed. Stahl cut the unnecessary string from the rest that was inside Hera's body. Hera did calm down again resting her head on the medic pillow. Hera stayed awake this time, but she made no movements or sounds which got the two a bit worrisome.
Hera's heart was still beating thankfully she was just in shock which was going to make things much easier. Chopper handed Stahl the towel which still had some visible blood on it, but it was better than nothing.
Stahl proceeded to pour more disinfectant on the cloth and dab at the other cuts and bruises on Hera's waist. Throughout the entire process Hera didn't cause too much trouble. Just some flinches in reaction to the disinfectant.
Once her waist was completely clean Stahl went down to her legs. The wounds down there weren't as bad as her upper area. Only a few scrapes and one big bruise was noticed during the scanning.
Stahl took in a quick breath before cutting off Heras pants and discarding them to the trash. He quickly got to cleaning the wounds making sure to shield his eyes from looking at Heras underwear. The whole process filled Stahl with disgust as he finished cleaning up the last wound.
Stahl quickly moved the medical blanket over Heras lower area forcing out a gasped breathing. Chopper stayed 3 feet away from Stahl watching the entire thing. He also noticed that Stahl seemed to be leaking much more than earlier.
So while Stahl took a quick breath chopper secretly scanned his body. The results shook Chopper to his power core.
Stahl had already lost 27 percent of his blood and was still losing more fast. The piercings were still majorly bleeding despite Stahl covering them up with bandages.
*Stahl you need to stop now* Chopper beeped frantically pushing against Stahls leg. Stahl fought back against the droid asking "Whoa whoa whoa chopper what's the problem". *Stahl.....you've lost over 27 percent of your blood. If you keep pushing yourself you'll go into shock and I......I can't guarantee I can save you* Chopper beeped.
Stahl could hear the worriness in Choppers beeps. Of course Stahl already knew he'd lost a significant amount of blood. Looking at Hera though and seeing her in her state just made Stahl accept that his time was nearly over. If it meant keeping everyone else alive and his nightmare ending. Then that was something Stahl could live with.
Stahl looked down at Chopper who kept trying to push Stahl to a seat. Stahl patted the droids head getting him to stop and look up at him. "Ok Chopper you win. I'll rest, but I need you to get me some more bandages and a towel" Stahl asked from the droid going over to the nearest seat. Stahl even slouched in the chair to make it look like his body had given to the extreme condition it was in. Which was enough to fool the droid.
Chopper rolled out of the room heading in the general direction of the medical emergency supplies. Once he was visibly gone however Stahl quickly concentrated on shutting the door through the force and locking it. It was harder to do because of the pain but the door did end up closing.
Stahl strugglingly stood up off the chair as he heard chopper banging against the door beeping *Dammit Stahl let me in. You're in no condition to help Hera let me do it. Stahl*.
The beeps just swirled in Stahls head causing him to get a bit nauseous. The entire room began to spin making Stahls stomach twist and turn to the point where he almost puked. Stahl ended up needing to balance himself on a counter so he wouldn't fall.
He tried to look up at Hera but his head spun too much for him to even move. All of his muscles felt weak from the blood loss with his body beginning to feel a bit cold. The feelings soon began to over power Stahl causing him to swirl around before falling unconscious.
Stahl lied sleeping on the ground for about a day. During the time more and more of his blood spilled from his body making a red pond. Chopper had tried to open the door many times through hacking and using the main control panel, but the door ceased to crack an inch.
So chopper continued to bang on the door for hours and hours hoping someone would answer the door. He didn't care if the others would get mad at him he just wanted to make sure Hera and Stahl were ok.
Once the constant clanging got to Stahl he woke up groaning grabbing his bleeding side. His hand instantly soaked in his blood and he noticed the pool of blood that surrounded him. He also felt his blood on his face and hair.
He hadn't thought that his wounds were extremely bad when he first patched them, but now that he felt weak he considered Chopper to be right. Speaking of chopper Stahl heard the droid clang against the door again beeping in a high worried tone *Stahl please tell me you're there*.
"I-I'm here rust bucket" Stahl forced out coughing up a bit of blood. He forced himself too his feet but had to balance himself against the counter. Compared to his entire body Stahl's legs were the weakest.
Stahl struggled to the door drawing a trail of blood behind him. Once he reached the door and opened it he saw Chopper look at him with what had to be a *victory and saddened* look. Stahl forcefully gave the droid a weary smile before his body gave out again.
Chopper helped Stahl to a seat where he rescanned him again. The results were even worse than Chopper had originally thought they were gonna be. Stahl had now lost 35 percent of his blood turning to 36. If Stahl loses more than 40 percent of his blood than his body will go into shock and he'll die.
Chopper was hesitant to tell Stahl seeing him weak, but Chopper knew it would cause more harm than good for Stahl not to know the condition he was in. *Stahl, You've lost over 35 percent of your blood. If you continue to push your body you'll.....you'll...* Chopper tried to say but couldn't bring himself to.
Instead it was Stahl who said "I know Chopper. I know." patting the droid. Even though Stahl knew the situation he was in he found the moment funny for him. At the beginning when the two had meet they disliked each other. Now here they were Chopper worrying about him.
However as funny and as sweet as a moment as this was for Stahl he still had to help the others. He tried to sit himself up but Chopper pushed him back down saying *Stahl stop moving just relax*. "I can't chopper, Hera and the others are still injured" Stahl said looking over at Hera.
She was still the same as when Stahl had passed out. As was Kanan and likely the others.
Chopper understood Stahls worries but reminded Stahl that anymore helping would end Stahl. Stahl finally listened to Chopper and slumped back into his chair.
Chopper signed in relief as he rolled over and grabbed some bandages and disinfectant. After he gave the supplies to Stahl who began bandaging his wounds chopper rolled over to Hera and began scanning her.
The scan took longer than it did 2 days ago which got Chopper a bit anxious. Once the scanner reached Heras feet Chopper yanked the results out of the data file. What he saw sent chills down Choppers body....somehow.
It wasn't hard for Stahl to notice something was wrong. He stopped rolling the bandage around his waist and leaned forward asking "What's wrong Chopper" in a serious tone.
Chopper didn't answer above a stutter. His metal body then began to shake starting slowly increasing faster and faster. It was as if Chopper was having a mental breakdown. He furiously slammed into the drawers using his metal hangs to bang against it making a beeping sound as if he was crying.
This sudden action had made Stahl a bit jumpy. It wasn't like Chopper to be like this unless the worst had happened. Hera was alive however Stahl could see her still breathing. So what was the problem? Could Hera have loss too much blood, has a organ stopped working, was she infected?
These thoughts plagued Stahl making him begin to hyperventilate. He still couldn't move to get the data however because his body still ached and if he did move his bandages would fall off.
So Stahl was forced to wait for Chopper to calm down his crying? It about 12 minutes before the droid seemed to calm down.
That's when Stahl asked in a softer tone "Chopper...what's wrong?". The droid didn't say anything except a few mumbles which Stahl couldn't understand. Instead Chopper gave him the medical file. Stahl look over the file and what he read made him have the same expression as Chopper.
Patients Name: Hera Syndulla
Species: Twi'lek
Age: 32
Sex: Female
Condition: 22 percent of blood loss and an infection of HIV.
Possible Cures: Fresh Twi'lek blood and a molecule breakdown injection.
After Stahl finished the first thing to come to mind was "Ch-check to make sure that the others are ok". Chopper straightend up from the drawers telling Stahl *I already scanned the others except Kanan. They're stable* rolling over to Kanan.
Once the scanner finished the data file came out with...
Patients name: Kanan Jarrus
Species: Human
Age: 34
Sex: Male
Condition: Cuts along his right thigh and one big cut along his Stomach. Cut in need of cleaning and stitching, but not life threatening. Traumatic pressure applied to back.
Possible cures: Rest for 2 to 3 weeks.
With the injuries being a bit more minor the two shifted their focus back to Hera. As the data said Hera needed fresh Twi'lek blood, specifically type c positive. The only problem was that the Ghost didn't have that blood or any Twi'lek blood in that matter.
Chopper began going into another panic attack rolling back and forth worrying about a life without Hera. Stahl however was used to life threatening situations like this so he was able to keep a level head.
The problem was that the crew needed more Twi'lek blood for Hera. Question was where to get it from? Stahl didn't have a clue on when or where shipments for medical supplies were delivered from since he always got them from the Capital. Since he was now also part of the Ghost crew the Inquisitor would have the Capital not surrender anymore recourses to him. That just lead back to the same question, where do we get fresh Twi'lek blood?
Then a thought crossed Stahls mind *Maybe it's not a matter of where we get it from, but who we get it from*. That's when Stahl remembered that the whole reason the crew had gone there in the first place was because an intel had contacted them.
"Chopper, who was the person that contacted us for this mission" Stahl asked getting the droid to stop moving. "Ummm.....the person was...." Chopper began beeping stopping once he pieced it together.
After that the droid began cursing spinning in anger grabbing anything throw able. One of the objects Chopper threw almost hit Stahl who calmed the droid down saying "Chopper I know your angry but if I don't know who is responsible for all of this I won't be able to find him".
The droid stopped and looked at Stahl confused. "What do you mean by that" Chopper asked knowing what Stahl meant. Before Stahl answered he looked at Hera still injured and dying. He balled his hands into a fist looking back at Chopper saying "I'm saying that whoever got us into this mess I'm gonna make sure he or she gets us out of it".
"No no no no no no no no you're not going anywhere Stahl. Your wounds are too great for your body to sustain any more stress and you've already loss 35 percent of your blood....if you lose 45...then..." Chopper couldn't bring himself to finish. The sincereness from the droid was enough to make Stahl chuckle, he still remembered the first time that the two had meet with Chopper calling him useless and Stahl calling him a rust bucket.
Stahl leaned forward and patted the droids head smearing a little blood on him. Chopper took the boys hand looking at him with a pleading face saying "Stahl please".
"Chopper I have too. We both know Hera and I are on barrowed time, but if there is a chance that one of us can come out of this alive then I have to take it" Stahl explained getting the droid emotional. "But why do you have to go. I can go get the supplies, that way you don't have to stress yourself and...and...." Chopper still couldn't finish feeling as if he was gonna go into another breakdown. "Chopper......I don't really care about my life" Stahl simply said confusing Chopper. "Chopper...everyone on this ship plays an important role. Hera is the pilot and mother of this ship. Kanan is the leader and father. You're the ships secondary mechanic and pest. Zebs the muscles and older sibling. Sabines the mechanic and creative sister of the Ghost. And Ezra.....Ezra......Ezra is the kid who still has so much room to grow, he's the future. But me, I'm just another mouth to feed and pair of blasters. My life is practically useless, so if there's a chance that I can do something for this crew then I have to take it" Stahl finished letting a tear drop.
Chopper wanted to argue against Stahl, he wanted to say that his life had much more meaning than just another pair of blasters. When he looked into the boys eyes, his red tearing eyes, Chopper knew that he wasn't going to be able to stop this.
So Chopper accepted what Stahl wanted to do asking "W-whats the plan Stahl". "How far are we from Lothal" was the first thing that Stahl asked.
Chopper had piloted the ship to some random space area since he was in a hurry to help Stahl get the others to the medical bay. He quickly calculated the jump from their location to Lothal answering "About 1 hour. Give or take".
"Ok. So here's my plan: during the jump to Lothal we need to patch up Hera, the others I'm gonna leave in your hands. After that I'm gonna need to patch myself up a bit so I won't die too early. So I'm gonna need bandages, antibiotics, a torch with a metal pan, and adrenaline." Stahl began explaining. "Why do you need a torch, metal pan, and adrenaline?" Chopper interrupted. "Because stitching will take too long and the adrenaline is so my body can be at a decent function" Stahl said.
Then he continued "When we arrive on Lothal I want you to land the ship 10 klicks from where we would meet this contact. Once you do that I'll head out and get the supplies from him.".
"Ok, but there is one problem" Chopper said. "The person who contacted us is called Vizago and since his message was just for us to get captured he won't be at our rendezvous point, but there is one place he always stops at for maintenance and supply checks".
With that information at least Stahl had the identity of the informant as well as a general location. However Chopper did warn "The place is fortified with anti-vehicle and anti-infantry turrets. Along with 10 droids protecting Vizago.".
"Understood." was all Stahl said. What Chopper had told him wasn't much for him to be concerned about, except mainly the anti-infrantry turrets because those usually use flames. Other than that Stahl could possibly do well against the droids and Vizago. Of course it all depended on how much Stahls body could take and the reliability on the force.
Now that the two had a set goal in mind the two got to work.
Over the next hour after Chopper sent the Ghost into hyperspace the two worked on bandaging Stahl and Hera up. Chopper gave the supplies Stahl requested and helped him to a refresher because Stahl didn't feel comfortable fixing his wounds around the droid. Once that was finished and Stahl had injected himself with the first vile of adrenaline the two began patching up Heras cut across the chest. And for both of them that was really uncomfortable especially for Stahl. During the stitching Stahl had to make sure he kept his hands away from Heras sensitive areas while focusing solely on the cut.
Once the two got that finished Stahl and Chopper covered Hera up with a medical blanket. The two then swore to take the events and shame to their graves.
After that Stahl agreed to relax the rest of the trip while Chopper bandaged everyone else.
Lothal
After the ship exited out of Hyperspace Chopper flew the Ghost down to Lothals surface. Getting past the Star Destroyers were pretty simple as it always is.
As the Ghost entered Lothals atmosphere Stahl began packing up the essential weapons he would need. His two Westar 35's he would need, his hidden blades were preferable so he would have the element of surprise on his hands. As for his lightsabers, it was probably best Stahl left them on the Ghost. If Vizago found out that the Ghost crew had a Jedi on their team he would sell them out again. After that Stahl grabbed the 2 viles of adrenaline that would probably be needed for the negotiations.
The ship soon landed 10 klicks north from Vizagos main landing zone.
As Stahl got up from the medical seat and began heading towards the door he stopped for a brief second. He turned back towards Hera thinking that this was his last time that he was ever gonna see her. With a soft voice Stahl muttered "Goodbye Hera. Thank you for everything".
Stahl joined Chopper up at the cockpit where the droid was powering down the ship. After the droid finished he turned towards Stahl. Looking at the boy this time was weird for the droid, mostly due to the fact that after this mission Stahl wouldn't be joining the crew for anymore missions. That didn't mean that Chopper wasn't going to offer anymore help for Stahl.
Chopper handed Stahl a high tech arm devise similar to that of Sabines. The device had a hacking system, mapping grid, communications link, and Chopper also installed an additional program that specifically monitors Stahls blood levels. Right now the levels indicated Stahl was at 36 percent blood loss, which left 9 more percent left for Stahl to loss before going into shock.
After that Chopper informed Stahl "Vizagos landing strip is due north. Once you get there have him give you type c positive Twi'lek blood.". "What about the molecule breakdown injection?" Stahl asked Chopper. "We have that already, but the injection will cause the blood cells infected the dispers and self destruct. By the time you get back here 35 to 39 percent of her blood will be unhelpful for her body.".
"Wait why is the infection moving so slowly. I thought HIV spreads throughout the body almost instantaneously." Stahl asked confused. "For humans HIV is that fast, but Twi'leks have a better immune system than you do so her body is fighting off the infection as best as it can. However...." Chopper didn't need to finish.
Stahl took in a quick breath turning towards the cargo bay. He didn't have anything else to say to the droid. The two knew what their missions were.
But as Chopper heard the alarm of the cargo bay doors opening and seeing Stahl walk into the plain he could only hope that everything would turn out right.
2 1/2 hours later
Vizago opened another one of his crates up checking the food supplies in the container. The food seemed to still be fresh enough for his buyer.
He ordered one of his droids to take the crate into the Broken Horn where all the other crates went. He then commed his other droids that were working on the ships engines "Hey droids are the repairs almost done?". "Almost sir, the Empire left a huge crack in the rotating energy ring, but we should be good to leave in 30 minutes" one of the droids replied.
Vizago soon ended the talk taking a seat over at a nearby crate. The smuggler let out an exhausted breath wiping the sweat off his brow. The sun was beating especially hot today since it was the last week of Lothals summer.
One of Vizagos droids handed him a drink of cold water which Vizago gracefully gulped down. The water was super cool that Vizago had even decided to pour some over his neck which sent shivers down his entire nervous system.
Then one of his droids suddenly called him to the northern perimeter. Vizago quickly ran to the northern defenses seeing his droids gathering up.
"What is it?" Vizago asked the droids looking in the general direction of where everyone else was looking. Out in the horizon Vizago saw a tiny dot. At first the dot felt like a hallucination to Vizago because of the rapid heat, but the droids were also looking there too which meant someone had found him.
Vizago took a pair of binoculars that were lying on a stray crate zooming in on the figure. The person seemed to be a teenage boy about 5ft 9, with brown hair. The boy wore some raggedy cloths that were smeared in blood like he was some kind of butcher. The boy seemed to be limping towards Vizago like he had been injured, which helped explain his cloths.
"Hey droid who is that, I don't recognize him" Vizago asked the droid next to him. The droid known as hu-c13 scanned the suspect for a brief second. Once it was done this is what the droid reported "Teenage boy, relatives unknown, age teen years, associates unknown, Birth name unknown, name known to entire galaxy.....Demon Scar".
Vizagos heart suddenly skipped a beat. He had heard the stories about the Demon that terrorizes even the Empire. Now that Vizago was faced with him it felt as if karma had dug into his life.
Out of sheer fear Vizago barked out "GET THE SHIP READY. LEAVE ALL THE SUPPLIES IF NECESSARY BUT WE HAVE TO TAKE OFF NOW". "Sir the ships engines are still unoperational." one of the drones reported. Vizagos heart rate began skyrocketing to where he could hear it.
He needed a plan or else his ass was gonna be nothing more than a skin suit. Vizago quickly paced around in a tiny circle trying to think of what to do. Vizago figured he could grovel at Demon Scars wish, maybe the terror of the universe would be in need of a client. *No Demon Scar doesn't need a client he has the empire to do that for him* Vizago thought to himself quickening his pace. Maybe Vizago could trade with the Devils blood spawn. If it weren't only exactly like groveling for Demon Scar.
No matter what sain way Vizago thought of that could save him he always saw his head being severed from his body.
The rumors that Vizago had heard over the years warned him of Demon Scars power. He had been spit out of hell itself with a cry so loud the sky itself would crack. Thousands of warriors had died by his hands with no marks made on his body. Or so Vizago thought.
He looked back at Stahl still seeing the boy still limping towards them. The blood that still stained his cloths were likely to be from others, but it also could be of his blood. If there was a better time to test a legends metal this was it.
"Alright droids battle formations." Vizago ordered his droids. They all quickly scrambled to their positions around the base with one of them firing up the anti-infrantry turrets planted on ground level and anti-vehicle turrets planted on the rocks 30 feet above ground level. Vizago himself took one of his favorite snipers to the front of the base border. He adjusted the scope on it to where Vizago had a clear image of Demon Scars head.
The smuggler placed his finger on the trigger whispering to himself with confidence "Let's see what your made of Demon.".
Stahl continued limping towards the rocks that laid ahead of him. The walk was practically torture for Stahl with the burning sun laying on him for the long 2 hours. Now that he was close to the smugglers camp he felt a bit better hoping that his mission was almost halfway there.
However Stahl felt the force rush through him helping Stahl dive down in the dirt hearing an energy shot fly past him. Stahl looked up at where the smuggler was at. The person must not know who Stahl is to be shooting at him, or the person was really ballsy. Either way this was a pain for Stahl.
He took out one of the viles of adrenaline and plunged it in his right thigh. The liquid entered his body making it feel more energetic, but also meaning more blood would be pumping too. Last time he looked at his wrist link it said Stahl was at 36 percent blood loss.
That would have to be acceptable because Stahl quickly began charging the base. Which soon turned into dodging and advancing as now multiple energy blasts began flying at Stahl.
The shots weren't too difficult to avoid because of the forces help, but whe. stahl was 20 yards away from the base a huge flame fired at Stahl. The flame was able to reach all the way to where Stahl stood forcing the boy to jump back 10 feet to avoid being hit.
After Stahl landed her began determining what to do next. This Vizago person was well armed: having blast assaulters for when he was at his distance and flame throwers for when he got too close. Stahl seemed to have underestimated him since Stahl was being forced to fall back a bit.
Stahl looked around the base just seeing a ship in the rocks. That wouldn't do him any good since if Stahl tried to go around the long range shooters would keep Stahl within the flamethrowers range span. Couldn't do an air jump like at the cliff, Stahl would be too exposed and unable to maneuver in the air.
Suddenly Stahl felt the force course through him again which Stahl jumped to his right seeing a big blue energy shot land right where he previously stood. The impact sent Stahl a couple of feet flying, but Stahl was able to backflip his feet onto the ground sliding a bit before coming to a stop.
Then a barrage of regular blaster bolts swarmed Stahl. Stahl immediately ducked into the long grass since whoever else was shooting at him couldn't see him in the grass.
Stahl however wasn't given much breathing time before another blue energy shot hurdled toward him. The shot wasn't as precise as the first one, but it was close enough to send dirt and grass flying over and onto Stahl.
This was followed by another huge energy shot and then another. Each shot came close to hitting Stahl, but Stahl kept his head down in the dirt and fist full of it to keep from flying.
After a few more shots Stahl began to understand the weaponry. The blue energy bolts were from anti-vehicle turrets with extra explosive munition since regular shots are built for penetrating. Then there are the long range people, the shots were ordinary energy bolts, and the flamethrowers were built for only the ground that didn't have any grass on it. If Stahl remembered correctly from the range of the flamethrowers meant that the designer had built them to only focus on frontal targets. Which meant that they couldn't turn 180 degrees, it'd be way too dangerous for the buyer to use them if they could. Those anti-vehicle turrets probably only faced one way as well. So the trick for Stahl was how to get behind the enemy lines without risking more blood being spilled. Except for Vizagos of course.
Stahl thought and thought of a way to get through. Meanwhile the turrets continued to flame down on Stahl like a meteor shower. The shots were getting closer, but were still only kicking up dirt to Stahl.
He continued to think and think, but no matter what he though of there was the big rock that blocked his path. *A big rock huh? A big Rock, A big rock that's it* Stahl finally figured out.
He cautiously lifted his head moving some of the dirt off of his hair looking over at the defence base. The huge rocks that surrounded the base were a slight curve down the entire rock. It was perfect for Stahl to land on and gain a surprise attack on Vizago. All he would need is a bit of dust which the anti-vehicle explosive bolts could provide.
Of course there was a gamble, in order for the explosion to be big enough for Stahl to have the proper cover all turrets would have to fire on a singular position nearly at the same time. The multiple energy blasts would create a big enough explosion to level the dirt to where Stahl can safely fly. There was also the fact that if the turrets were heat seekers then Stahl would be dead in the air. However.....
It was just going to have to be a risk he would be willing to take.
As the last energy shot flew past Stahl he rushingly charged the base. Right on que the flame turrets fired, but instead of jumping back Stahl pivoted to the left and began running. The other flame turret soon followed shooting at Stahl from the other side.
That's when Stahl made another left turn and ran backwards but only a few feet. Out of range of the flamethrowers.
The flames that were chasing Stahl soon clashed with each other creating a huge fire wall. Now all that was needed were the big turrets to fire on his position.
The closest turret adjusted to Stahls position and fired. Stahl jumped out of the way of the shot. Dirt and dust blew up into the air, but it wasn't enough and the fire wall was dwindling fast. The reason for the fire wall was because it provided cover against the ground troops. Even droids can't see through fire. So if Stahl was going to be able to pull this off he would need to do it by the fires time. And that time was running out fast.
Another shot was fired at Stahl which he rolled to the side using the force to keep the dirt off of him. The blast still wasn't enough and the shockwave from it almost caused the firewall to go out. Stahl would only have on more chance. It was do or die time.
Stahl looked at the two turrets imagining their distance and trajectory. Stahl was closest to the one on the big stone to his left. So Stahl began running to his right.
As he did he noticed the turrets begin to shift to Stahls movements. Along with a verbal "Where is Demon Scar droids, I can't see him." from Vizago.
Stahl ran all the way to the edge of the fire wall. Hopefully it would be enough of a distance to close the trajectory gap because it was all Stahl could manage.
The two turrets locked in on Stahls position and charging up. Stahl was expecting only one to fire, but instead there was two.
Everything suddenly went in slow motion from the second the energy blasts left their maker. Stahl felt his body instinctively jump off the ground. In the air he flipped himself over so his face was towards where the bolts were to hit. The two energy bolts flew besides Stahls body. The heat from them made Stahl grunt in pain as he motioned his hands in the following direction as the bolts. Using the lessons Kanan had partially taught him along with something in his gut Stahl focused the force only a few inches in front of him like he did on the base with the grenade. Except now when the two energy bolts connected to the ground there was a sudden explosion like a lightning bolt.
Stahl was sent flying up doing all sorts of flips and maneuvers as the dust from the explosion soon covered his body. The explosion sent Stahl flying so fast that the turrets on the rocks couldn't follow his movements. The shock wave also sent the last of the fire wall directly at Vizago who along with 2 droids were able to duck under the crates just in time. The other droids that got caught got burnt.
Stahl flew beyond 100 feet in the air, the explosion had been far more than what Stahl needed. He ended up going past the entire base and the ship. Out of instinct Stahl force pushed himself back towards the base.
As he flew he got a good look at the horizon. Being up so high gave Stahl another view for him to look at. Now it wasn't no full moon lighting or anything fancy like he would have preferred, but still. Stahl took in this moment to see the beauty of the planet he loved for what was gonna be the last time.
When he sensed he was near an object Stahl shifted his attention back towards the base seeing a huge boulder coming closer. Being within feet of the boulder Stahl quickly flipped so that his feet were facing the boulder. He then used the force in the opposing direction to slow himself down as he came into a collide with the boulder sliding the rest of the way down.
Stahl landed softly on the dirt quickly grabbing his Westar 35's aiming them in all directions. Even though Stahl got past the frontal defenses there could still be more near him.
He then heard in the distance Vizago say "Well is he dead? Is Demon Scar dead". At first Stahl couldn't pinpoint where Vizago was because of the ringing in his ear caused by the explosion. But when he heard a droid speak in its native language "Theoretically he should be nothing more than bits on the dirt." Stahl pointed one of his pistols in the direction of the voices and proceeded to follow it.
As Stahl neared he heard Vizago say "I don't want a theoretical conclusion I want a definant answer.". The smuggler sounded scared about Stahls uncertain demise. He should be scared because when Stahl gets his hands on Vizago he was gonna make sure that Vizago would pay dearly for Hera and Ezra. The other three were eh to Stahl.
Stahl soon found the smuggler ducking behind a crate so he could observe for a bit. When Stahl had heard of Vizago from Chopper he was hoping for a mandalorian, it would have made the trip soooooo much more rewarding for Stahl.
Instead it was just some green scaly broken horned alien. That was disappointing, but whether or not the person wasn't who Stahl wanted to be he still kept the objective at focus.
He slowly raised his pistols making sure to properly aim at the 2 droids. However the adrenaline had worn off and Stahl was smacked with intense pain.
Stahl bit his lip to hold back the screaming, but he did have to duck behind the crate again as he was unable to focus. He checked his side and shoulder feeling only the dried blood on his cloths which was a good sign.
Still with his focus being tampered with Stahl was gonna have to use a different method to deal with the droids. It was unfortunate that he didn't bring any grenades with him, that was always sabines job. Stahl chuckled at that thought. He couldn't rush the droids either. So that left only one option.
Stahl hoisted himself onto the crate with his two blasters taking their aim. Using the crate to help handle the pistols Stahl carefully aimed one blaster to one droid and then the other to the next one. With quick breath Stahl said "Let my aim be true".
The energy currents quickly flew through the sky and pierced the two targets. The two droids sparked and sputtered speaking in an untranslatable language before their power failed falling lifelessly to the ground.
Vizago quickly aimed his gun in the direction of the bolts, but he found himself unable to pull the trigger. The figure that Vizago gazed upon stood in the shadows, the image of dried blood stained almost his entire outfit. Even though Vizago looked at Demon Scar from a far he was already nervous about him, but now....now that the myth himself stood mear yards apart, and the fact that the shadows the were covering his body and face, and the eyes. Those hazel eyes that seemed to shine brightly in Vizagos view, it was just as if the galaxy was helping this devil strike fear. Vizagos heart beat so fast and so hard he couldn't even hear his own breathing.
Out of instinct Vizago dashed right hoping to outrun the Demon to his ship. Even if the Broken Horn was unable to fly it would at least be able to keep Demon Scar out, hopefully.
Vizago didn't look back as he ran not even to the sound of a huge yell of anger. Vizago just kept running and running hoping to make it to his ship. He didn't make 30 feet before he was pushed back by his neck into a boulder and had a knife held to his neck.
"I'M GONNA KILL YOU VIZAGO" Stahl yelled full force at Vizago making the smuggler automatically began begging "Please Demon Scar I'm sorry that I shot at you, don't kill mehehe. I'll do anything". Vizago began crying not even having the guts to even look Stahl in the eye. The crying and wining only fueled his anger as he shouted " SHUT UP. YOU GAVE US THE MISSION FOR THAT BASE, YOU SENT US INTO THAT AMBUSH. We're all suffering now BECAUSE OF YOU."
Vizago was at a lost, he didn't quite understand what Stahl was saying, he'd never meet Stahl in his life until just now. Of course Vizago was too scared to disagree with Stahl, but when the cold blade was rubbing against his skin drawing a little blood he began singing. "I-I don't know what you mean Lord Demon Scar. I never have seen you in my life.".
"I'm talking about the Ghost crew. You're the one who sent us into that ambush and now Hera is almost on her death bed" Stahl informed Vizago who finally grew the guts and looked Stahl in the eyes seeing the hatred in his hazel eyes not understanding how he of all people could have made it on the Ghost crew.
Of course right now Vizago had much more important things to worry about. Still seeing the anger on Stahls face Vizago spilled saying "I had no choice Lord Demon Scar, t-the empire had found me and threatened to put me in a mining guild if I didn't send you and the Ghost crew to that planet.".
After that Stahl was left in a shocked state slowly backing away from Vizago. Once free Vizago immediatly attended to his wound holding it with his left hand. He then slid down the boulder until he was sitting on the ground looking at Stahl who just simply stood and breathed.
Inside Stahls mind was complete chaos as he tried to wrap his head around everything. With the blood loss and pain however Stahl just felt dizzy so he stopped thinking and just looked down at Vizago. At this point Stahl no longer felt angry towards Vizago to where he was gonna kill him.....for the moment. Stahl understood that Vizago did what he did out of survival, but the smuggler wasn't off the hook yet.
Stahl got down on one knee so he was head leveled with Vizago saying "Vizago listen to me and listen well, right now I'm not wanting to kill you because right now I news you to give me Twi'lek blood because Hera has practically lost enough to die.". "I-I'm sorry Demon Scar I don't have any Twi'lek blood in my supplies" Vizago dumbfoundedly told Stahl.
Out of reaction to those news Stahl put back on his killing face and unflexed his hidden blade at Vizago who began yapping "W-w-wait I know where an Imperial blood shipment is heading too. I can give you the route that its gonna be taking and I can guarantee they will have Twi'lek blood.". "But will it have Type C positive Twi'lek blood?" Stahl questioned.
Vizagos silence only made Stahl question whether the smugglers info held any value. However Stahl was left with no other choice.
So Stahl sheathed his blade and stood up asking the smuggler "Coordinates?". Vizago signed in relief that Stahl was taking his word and possibly not killing him. "Due 20 km south west, the shipment is scheduled to leave in 2 and half hours from now." Vizago explained not providing proper coordinates which Stahl noticed.
"That's just telling me the direction, what are the coordinates for the path the transport will be on?" Stahl asked.
Vizago then hesitantly handed Stahl a small data file with the coordinates.
Stahl yanked the file out of Vizagos hand and inserted them in his arm tech (someone give the name of it please). Then he threw the file back to Vizago with a different set of coordinates saying "Here, take one of each medical supply that you have and drop it off there". "Y-y-yes Demon Scar" Vizago answered slowly getting up still holding his neck.
As Vizago started walking towards his ship he froze when he heard Demon Scar say "And if you ever tell them who I am I will hunt you down and butcher you.". Without even looking Vizago could feel the intensity in Demon Scars voice. With a simple nod Vizago continued to his ship.
Stahl as well continued to walk in the general direction of where he needed to be. As he was about to exit the far side of the base Stahl was hit by a wave of pain in his side and shoulder which caused Stahl to lose his balance and lean on a rock for support. The pain was immense and almost made Stahl scream, but he held it in so Vizago wouldn't hear.
Stahl quickly looked at his blood monitor reading that Stahl had now lost 38 percent of his blood. He was still bleeding internally which worsened because of the adrenaline and extra stress on his body causing him to cough up some blood. Stahl quickly covered his mouth still coughing more and more blood.
When he stopped he looked back at his monitor. His blood loss had gone up to 39 percent which his left has was a clear evidence of that. Stahl breathed heavily but calmly trying to make his body relax a little. The pain didn't go away however which forced Stahl to sit down and focus on his breathing. But even doing that proved to be painful.
The air was hot which burned his lungs with every breath and sitting down turned out to be a mistake. With his body not needing to be in motion the exhaust and pain were able to catch up and consume him. Stahls arms felt heavy, his chest burned, his legs felt shattered from the running and walking, nausea had engulfed his brain, and his entire body just didn't want to move an inch.
However the image of Hera slowly dying was a sight that his mind couldn't comprehend. She was counting on him to save her, and that's exactly what Stahl was going to do.
Allowing his body a few more minutes to rest Stahl dragged his body off the ground and began walking. Even with his body being in complete pain Stahl forced himself to walk, keeping Hera in his mind every step of the way.
3 1/2 Hours later
Stahl had been walking for who knew how long and with sun now beating down on his neck he was feeling even worse. The entire trip Stahl had kept pressure on his punctured wound to help halt the bleeding. Stahl even had to use the force to prevent more blood loss.
Stahl neared the path of travel for the transport hearing a clicking sound from his comm link. It indicated that Stahl was where he needed to be.
With nothing left to do but wait Stahl forcefully sat down on the hot dirt to steady himself so he wouldn't collapse. His body though tried to make Stahl lie down on the dirt longing for a more comfortable position. Stahl kept himself from the temptation afraid of falling asleep and missing the transport.
So instead Stahl began to think about the long and hot stroll to help get his mind and body off of wanting to sleep. Thinking about the walk though was just as painful as actual reliving it.
Luckily his "pain" was short lived, in the distance a small dot was beginning to form which grew larger and larger until the form of the object became relatively clear. Stahl begrudgingly picked himself up off the ground and tried to stand tall and fierce. Him looking dangerous and scary was something stahl needed now more than ever. Everything depended on it.
In the transport the two storm troopers that were stationed for delivering the blood volunteers were busy chatting amongst each other. The trooper in the pilot seat had been talking about his girlfriend problems and how he needs to start communicating with her more. The other trooper had discussed some things that he had noticed that were wrong with the empire. Such as the way they treated alien prisoners and the harsh executions that other prisoners were facing. He had actual planned to fix those problems once he reached a higher rank.
The two had been so busy talking to each other that when they noticed Stahl they rushed into a panick. The pilot slammed his foot onto the brakes causing the transport to ski into a stop inches away from Stahl.
The dust that kicked up from the skiing had completely covered Stahl which worried the troopers. The pilot ordered his partner "Quickly go out there and make sure that the person isnt hurt. I'll get the medical supplies in case of an injury". The co-pilot nodded and ran past the pilot opening the left side doors.
The pilot ran over to the cabnet with the medical supplies. As he grabbed the handle of the first aid kit a blaster shot filled his ears followed by a thud. The pilot looked over with fear in his heart to see his partner lied dead against the door frame.
The pilot mourned mentally, but quickly grabbed his rifle and charged out of the transport. As his feet landed in the dirt his eyes fixated on the most horrible scene in front of him.
In the cloud of dust Stahl stood there holding his blaster with the look of a killer. The dust covered his body giving a scarier look to him.
The pilot shook in terror, he had heard the stories about a being that shook the emperor to his knees, but he never thought he would have to face that being one day. He dropped his weapon and himself to the ground pleading "Please my lord Demon Scar I had no idea that it was you whom we almost ran over please forgive m-".
"Shut up" was what the imperial heard Demon Scar say as he now towered over the Imperial. Demon Scar looked down at the man feeling the sensation of the power he still possessed over the imperials.
"Now I recently heard about this ship obtaining blood donations some of which I need. Give me Twi'lek type c positive blood and I won't harm you." Stahl said. The Imperial nodded his head shaking violently as he proceeded to direct Stahl to the cargo doors.
When the two stood outside the doors the Imperial hastily opened the door revealing something horrible. As the light shined inside the room 4 figures flinched at the sudden brightness. The room contained the involuntary blood donors the empire had bought. A mid aged male human, a mid aged female togruta and twi'lek, and a little girl who looked barely over seven.
Everything in front of stahl filled him with rage, but the little girl, this pure innocent girl being used as a blood donor against her will was just too much and it filled stahl with an evil he hadnt felt in a long time. He grabbed his blaster and slowly raised it to the imperial who backed away begging "Lord Demon Scar please I had no idea they were our cargo. Please I would never hav-". Stahl pulled the trigger before the man could finish however and as the body fell with a thunk the four in the room looked upon stahl in utter fear as the male human muttered "D-demon Scar?".
I had originally planned for this to be the whole journey, but I have made you all wait long enough and I deeply apologize for that. I hope the chapter I made today was worth the wait.
Spectre 7 out and sorry.
