Gone Down Hill
Bottom of the cliff inside the destroyed base
Stahl laid on the ground still unconscious from the explosion. The base had fallen for a good 10 minutes before it collided to the bottom and crushed by the bolders that fell off of the cliff.
The base was barely in tackt with much of the walls and supports just being shrapnel.
Stahl seemed to have been lying in the base for hours until he began to wake up. As his eyelids barely began to open his mouth opened to make a yelling noise with nothing coming out of it.
Some very sharp had pierced Stahls waist which sent extreme pain throughout Stahls body. Stahl looked up at what had stabbed him. The shrapnel piece was a broken off piece from one of the supports.
From where the shrapnel piece was sticking out and from where Stahl could feel the most pain and internal bleeding the piece went through Stahl's kidney. This didn't rise up too much panic since it was only a kidney, but with the internal bleeding Stahl knew he had to get the piece out.
Stahl flet under his back to try and find where the other end of the piece ended. His hands managed to find the pieces end, but the piece was laid under rocks which meant the piece was probably still connected to a bigger part of the pole.
Since figuring out that he couldn't get the other end Stahl looked around the base for his lightsabers. They fell off during the crash and the room being black with everywhere basically being perfectly identical Stahl began looking in the same place twice.
The areas that were too far for Stahl to reach without risking of moving were thankfully areas that his lightsabers weren't at. However Stahl kept looking around the cave and still didn't find them.
He did have both his blasters on and did consider just shooting the shrapnel that stuck out of his body. Stahl considered the outcome that since he didn't know the stabability of the rocks. One wrong mishot could flatten him like Zebs space waffles or just draw out his bleedout time.
With little of options left Stahl laid back down to think. As he did the most unbelievable thing that could ever happen. His lightsabers were hanging right above him on a rock ledge.
"You got to be fucking with me" Stahl muttered to himself as he began lifting his arm to reach them. His arm alone couldn't reach the lightsabers which was a big problem. Stahl didn't want to move too much with the shrapnel in him because if it were to move around too much it could cut through an artery.
However with there being so few options left for Stahl he shifted his weight on his left arm and began pushing up off the ground little by little. The shrapnel cut at his insides bit by bit which made Stahl winch a few times as he felt more blood pour from his body.
Just a few more inches up and Stahl got a finger on the handle. He began slightly pulling on the blade moving it by centimeters, but when his entire hand was finally able to hold the blade Stahl yanked that thing and slashed the remaining shrapnel sticking out of his body off.
Stahl then gave one last push as the last of the shrapnel finally left his body. Stahl rolled over and took a quick breath trying to get his breathing to be as steady as possible. With his blood still escaping from its body Stahl had to find something to heat up and fast.
The closest thing that Stahl could use was the shrapnel he cut off, but there was so little of it left that Stahl could burn his hand. With his body getting colder and colder as a reminder of what was certainly happening Stahl grabbed onto the shrapnel activating his lightsaber and steadily heating the thing up to burning temperature.
When the shrapnel had a orange yellow glow on it Stahl deactivated his lightsaber and rolled up his shirt seeing his usual scars along with a big bloody hole in his waist. Stahl would have usually just looked at his wound and try to walk it off, but with it being this much blood lost and the shrapnel drastically losing temperature he didn't get to do it this time.
Stahl took his bloody shirt in between his mouth biting down onto it as he brought the shrapnel to his wound. As the metal piece burned his skin Stahl gave out a muffeled yell from the intense burning.
It only took a few seconds for the wound to finish closing, but the shrapnel already cooled down to unusable temperatures. Stahl took another quick moment of breath trying to relax his body from the burning feeling.
When Stahls body felt relaxed enough he took what was left of the shrapnel to his lightsaber and began reheating it. As the metal was almost hot enough a sudden rumble that made the base shake and Stahl cut his hand with his lightsaber.
Stahl yelled a quick "Shit" before normalizing his breathing. The rumbling around his still continued for a few more minutes before the sound got small and smaller. Stahl continued to breath normally for a minute while inspecting his hand.
The lightsaber cut didn't get deep enough to where he was going to have trouble using his hand, but it did add another scar to the collection. Stahl then noticed that the shrapnel piece was losing its glow. He quickly grabbed the piece and reheated the last of it to the proper temperature and burning his other wound shut.
Once the wound had been closed Stahl slowly began to gather his items making sure not to move his waist too much or his wounds would open up again. When Stahl grabbed the last of his supplies and began looking around the room for any kind of opening.
A small opening appeared on the opposite side of the room. The opening was a small one, but Stahl was able to squeeze through only getting some cuts from the sharp rocks.
When he managed to slip his entire body through he grabbed one of his lightsabers activating it. As the blue light filled the room Stahl continued to look for a way to find Kanan.
10 minutes earlier
Kanan flew the phantom straight down into the cliff. The first while the flight had been smooth, but after 600 feet the cliff began to be piled up with other boulders with ledges sticking out of the cliff.
Kanan had to slow the ship down to fly carefully through the boulders with Sabine being his navigator. As the ship ducked and turned across the cliff Chopper kept a maintenance check on the ship to make sure that nothing would suddenly power off on them.
Ezra and Zeb sat at the back of the ship waiting for Kanan to land the ship. During the flight Zeb noticed that Ezra had kept his head on his hands looking straight down at the floor. It didn't take much of a genius to figure out that something was wrong.
"Hey kid you ok, Zeb asked Ezra tapping his shoulder. Ezra didn't verbally respond or look up at Zeb. He just shook his head.
Zeb got up from his seat and sat next to Ezra asking "Kid what's wrong".
Ezra still didn't answer him.
"Kid I'm serious whatever is bothering you you need to spill it or we could be in danger" Zeb told Ezra. In confusion and annoyance at Zeb Ezra finally looked at the Lasat with a upset face asking "How can me keeping a secret be a reason we get into danger".
"It can get us into danger because if you have something bothering you during a mission you make mistakes. And those mistakes can cost us your life or one of ours" Zeb answered. "Yeah like Stahl's" Ezra muttered in response looking back at the floor.
Zeb knew what was bothering Ezra. Ezra had been beating himself up at what he did and what Sabine had told him back on the cliff.
Zeb placed his hand on Ezra's back saying "Listen kid you made a mistake. That happens to all of us even Kanan. The trick isn't to beat yourself over it. It's to learn from your mistake and try to make up for it" trying to help Ezra.
Ezra slightly looked at Zeb asking in a low voice that only Zeb could hear "How can I make up this mistake when one of our team members could be dead".
That was hard to answer. Ezra was right that if Stahl did die in that crash it would be hard to make up for that. Zeb however remembered that through his years of combat that in scenarios like this it was better to consider the best possible solution.
"Kid listen you shouldn't think about things like that. Stahl being dead may be a possibility, but you've got to have hope that he survives and is waiting for us" Zeb said.
After those words Ezra looked towards Sabine who was still helping Kanan navigate asking "But will Sabine ever forgive me? I mean she did say....". Zeb cut Ezra off by slapping his back explaining "Ezra she will forgive you. She wouldn't have wanted to be with you if she didn't want to deal with the mistakes you would make."
Ezra's heart began to feel a little better at those words as he looked at Zeb asking "Are you sure". Zeb smiled back at Ezra saying "I guaranty it blue boy" ruffling his hair making them both laugh.
They both soon heard Kanan "Everyone were nearly at the bottom". Sabine came back to where her stuff was.
Ezra stared at Sabine as she began equipping her blasters and her helmet wanting to say something to her. His mouthed opened forming some words, but no sound came from it.
Sabine had taken notice of this, she already knew that Ezra had given deeper thought about what he had done. She knew that Ezra wanted to apologize, but it wasn't the time, place, nor the person Ezra should be apologizing too.
So before Kanan landed the Phantom Sabine placed a hand on Ezra saying "Don't worry Ezra. I've got your back". That was her way of telling Ezra that she knew what Ezra knew what he did was wrong and that he was sorry for it. Zeb said the same thing to Ezra helping with his confidence as the ship landed just a couple of yards outside the rubble.
As everyone exited the Phantom Chopper received a message from Hera that she had arrived. Chopper beeped *Hera is at the cliff, but the Ghost is too big for her to fly down*.
"Alright Chopper go get Hera and come back Asap" Kanan told Chopper as the door closed with the Phantom flying back up the cliff soon disappearing from their site. The crew then went over to the rubble that covered the base.
Sabine began examining the damage and was soon asked by Kanan "Whats the damage Spectre 5". Sabine didn't answer immediately, it was difficult for Sabine to determine anything about the base through the damage on just one end of the walls of the base.
"Well based on what I can tell. The base is mostly shredded" Sabine replied still looking around at the rocks seeing if there was a way in.
Even though Sabine told Kanan what she could determine it didn't answer whether Stahl was alive. So he grabbed Sabines shoulder pad to get her attention saying "Cover our backs Spectre 5. Ezra and I are going to create an entrance so we can see if Spectre 7 is dead or not".
Sabine nodded and took a step back from the base as Ezra stood beside his master. Before the two got to work Kanan ordered Zeb and Sabine "Both of you watch out for anything that's a potential threat. We don't know who rigged those explosions and for all we know they could still be around. Since we don't know if Spectre 7 is dead or not we're gonna have to dig for him".
Sabine took up her position and began monitoring the area. Zeb however questioned Kanan "Can't you just you know sense Useless to see if he's alive or not". "Usually I could, but Stahl keeps his mind blocked so I can't tell if he's alive or not" Kanan replied beginning to move some of the smaller boulders off the base leaving the other two to watch.
Kanan and Ezra had been moving boulders off the base for ten minutes and already they were beginning to doubt whether the base held up from the extended damage they saw. The roof of the base had seemed to be crushed into the inside, but neither of them were about to give up. Or else they were never going to hear the end of it from Hera.
During those ten minutes things were quiet with the two scouts. However as Zebs ear began to twitch he took up a fighting stance holding his rifle in the direction of the noise.
Sabine looked over to where Zeb was pointing but saw only a curve in the cliff 200 yards away. "Um Zeb what's wrong" Sabine asked. Kanan and Ezra had heard Sabine and stopped to hear what was happening.
Zeb kept his rifle aimed for a few more seconds before he replied "I hear something coming from over there. Foot soldiers and vehicles". After that Zeb began seeing small shadows coming from the end of the passage.
Sabine did the same thing taking her scouter seeing the same shadows. There were a few small shadows indicating the foot soldiers followed by two enormous ones. One of the shadows soon emerged from the turn and as Sabine looked at the figure an extremely cold chill ran down her spine.
"Spectre 5?" Kanan questioned noticing her sudden stillness. Sabine put her scouter back looking at Kanan saying "Its the Empire".
Everyone's hearts skipped a beat as they all looked over to the approaching army.
Kanan took out his binoculars and looked over to see the Grand Inquisitor walking at the head of the army smiling evilly at him. "It's the Inquisitor" Kanan said as he put his binoculars back.
"Karabast that weisel Vizago traded us off to the Empire" Zeb remarked as he looked at Kanan for advice on what to do. The entire crew looked to Kanan for advice.
Even though Kanan has been in these positions before they weren't holding the weight as right here did. What Kanan would decide could end their lives.
Kanan began thinking about what they could do: Chopper was probably on his way back, but how long would he take? It didn't really matter anyways the crew wouldn't be able to escape on the phantom the gunships would tear them apart. They couldn't retreat into the cliff because they didn't know if any more stormtroopers were on the other side. That just left one option, but how would they be able to hold off against the Inquisitor and his army.
After a few more seconds Kanan figured out a plan. "Alright Spectres here is what were going to do" Kanan said as he began explaining.
Inside the base
Stahl kept on roaming around the base/cave for what felt like forever. No matter where he turned however everywhere looked the same.
Beginning to feel uneasy Stahl put his lightsaber down sitting next to it with his hand still over his wound. Even though Stahl had closed it up it still felt extremely painful. Which is odd because Stahl was used to this kind of pain.
The pain however wasn't just because of the piercing it was also because Stahl began to feel hopeless. He felt hopeless because he couldn't find his way out and he doubted the crew could in time before he ran out of oxygen. Stahl began to accept his fate and welcomed it.
As he lied on the rocks waiting for his long slumber a sudden bright light filled the room blinding Stahl. Through the light Stahl heard a voice say "So is this how it ends for you?".
When Stahls eyes adjusted to the light he looked at the glowing figure seeing Depa Bilaba. Depa walked over to Stahl and sat down next to him pestering on "Is it".
Stahl turned away from her lightly responding "It is Depa this is my end". Depa looked over at the child for a moment before smacking his shoulder saying "Alright then" and stood up to begin leaving.
Before she was able to however she heard Stahl mutter "Why did you pick me". She didn't clearly hear him so she poked asking "What was that?". Stahl repeated himself in a more clear and annoyed tone "Why did you pick me? What could you have possibly POSSIBLY seen in me....why.....I'm not worthy to stand with the crew or your student or......or....".
It took a lot out of Stahl not to cry right there. Depa saw the pain on Stahl and kneeled before him saying "Its because you are more than what you think. You have so much more potential than you think, just like Kanan, and his student, and the rest of that crew". "But why me, I-I'm a freak of nature a Demon. Why help me, why try to keep me alive when all I desire is death" Stahl questioned desperate for an answer.
Depa stared into Stahl's eyes seeing the same hopelessness as she did before. Just like before she said "Because even Demons deserve a chance to be happy and what title you carry doesn't mean that's who you have to be".
Stahl continued to stare at her strangely being reminded of Hera the person he still wanted to be his mother; to be his family; like the rest of the crew.
Depa soon disappeared from sight leaving Stahl back in the darkness. However Stahl didn't feel like sitting around for death because he began sensing a dark force nearing him. The Inquisitor was here.
Outside
As the Inquisitor, Kallus, and the Storm troopers neared the pile of rocks Kallus ordered his men to ready their weapons. After that the Inquisitor instructed Kallus "Agent Kallus I want you and the men to make sure that you take the Jedi and Demon Scar alive. The others you may capture them if you want but if its not possible terminate them.".
Kallus re-laid those orders back to the rest of the men. Before the were close to the base Kallus asked "What about the pilot Grand Inquisitor, he or she may still be up there". When the army came to a stop The Inquisitor looked at Kallus and said "Don't worry Agent, if their pilot does happen to show their face they will meet their end".
The Inquisitor then turned to face where the Ghost crew was supposed to be. As he walked forward the only person he saw in the distance was Kanan standing atop the highest rock. The Inquisitor took a few more steps before he spoke "Well Jedi looks like you have gotten yourself in a real predicament"
"Maybe, but we still aren't in deep smoke just yet Inquisitor" Kanan said standing tall to look tough and ready for the battle to come. There was a quick moment of silence with the Inquisitor briefly surveying Kanan.
That's when the Inquisitor noticed that Kanan had his lightsaber completely assembled began making him laugh. "Do you honestly believe that just because your holding that saber complete and your men hiding amongst the rocks gives you a chance at escaping our grasp" The Inquisitor asked underestimating the crew again.
Kanan stared down the Inquisitor with his most serious expression and simply responded with "Yes". "Listen Jedi I know your trying to act tough for the sake of your crews loyalty, but the only thing that this fight will end up bringing is your crew dead on this soil and you in the Empires clutches. So I'll make you a deal: you and your crew surrender and I will personally make sure that the Empire bestows no harsh punishment on you and the crew" The Inquisitor lied. The Inquisitor didn't care about what would happen to the Jedi's crew all he cared about was the Jedi, his padwan, and the Inquisitors future student.
Kanan being his clever and optimistic self could sense the Inquisitors deception. Kanan coldly told the Inquisitor "Like on the Stygian base Inquisitor I'm not making deals with you.".
The Grand Inquisitor smiled very deeply at what Kanan had said because he now didn't have to worry about collateral damage to any of the crew. "Very well Jedi, have it your way" the Inquisitor said activating his double spinning lightsaber. Kanan activated his lightsaber as well and took his stance as the rest of the Imperial army took aim at Kanan.
Then out of nowhere there was a low sudden beeping noise that filled the cliff. The Imperials looked around to try and find where the noise was coming from but because of the echo's that bounced off the walls it made it seem like the sound came from everywhere at once. One of the storm troopers looked down at his feet and noticed a small red blinking from under him. He bent down to pick up the tiny object, but as his hands wrapped around the object it exploded in his hand killing him, the troops that were right next to him, sending the other troops flying around.
There were soon a few more explosions that followed making the Imperial forces go into complete chaos. That's when energy currents began flying from two separate directions gunning down the Imperials still alive. Even the Grand Inquisitor was forced to take notice of this to make sure that he wouldn't get shot by any of the energy beams.
That's when Kanan saw his opening and lunged at the Inquisitor attempting to take him out. The Inquisitor however brought his blade up at the last moment deflecting Kanans attack. The two then began to battle each other.
The assault on the Imperials had forced them to divide their forces up just as planned. Zeb took the left side of the cliff moving from one rock to another sniping down two or three stormtroopers. On the right Sabine fired her weapons taking out multiple Imperials. The Imperials shifted their focus on her since she was easily seen through the rocks. Ezra was with her levitating some small to medium sized rocks and throwing at the Imperials since his slingshot was still basically useless.
Sabine shot down three more Imperials that were climbing up towards her before she took cover behind her rock. As she readied up one of her last miracles a stormtrooper had gotten close to her and had her blaster trained on Sabine.
Ezra noticed the trooper right as she pulled the trigger and by instinct he jumped in Sabines way yelling "Sabine". Sabine turned to have something horrible bestowed before her. Ezra had been shot in the chest and fallen down onto the pile of rocks beneath him.
Sabine quickly shot the trooper throwing her miracle at the Imperials. As the explosion shook the ground she ran over to Ezra dragging him to a safe place to lie him down.
She rolled up Ezra's shirt muttering "No no no no please be fine please be fine" almost praying that Ezra would be fine. When she saw the wound she gasped in fear, the shot had just missed Ezra's heart by an inch.
Sabine quickly grabbed a small vile of bacta liquid and smeared it on the energy mark. As she did Ezra coughed up a little blood while looking at Sabine. "S-Sabine..." Ezra weakly began saying gabbing her attention towards him. "I-I'm so very sorry.....for what I did" Ezra apologized. Even though Sabine had kinda told him that she had forgiven him he still felt an enormous amount of guilt.
Sabine placed her hand on Ezra's cheek saying "Its ok Ezra. Its ok". Ezra smiled at her from her warm touch placing his hand over hers still not moving his eyes off her helmet. "W-we had a good run" Ezra said making Sabine about to break down into tears.
She knew what those words meant, she had heard them many times before and she couldn't bear to hear them from him. Sabine took her helmet off throwing it on the ground saying "Look at me Ezra you're going to be fine. We're gonna make it I promise". Ezra continued to smile at her placing his hand over her cheek saying "I love you Sabine Wren" letting a tear fall down his cheek. Sabine did the same thing telling him "I love you too Ezra Bridger" hugging him as the approaching Imperials neared them. If Ezra was going to die Sabine was going to die with him tonight.
However as the Imperials were just on their position there was a sudden loud bang that echoed through the cliff. Everyone stopped fighting at the noise.
A couple of seconds later another loud bang was heard. Everyone looked over at the base where the sound was most concentrated seeing a bump coming out from the bases wall.
The bangs soon began to increase slowly making some of the Imperials back away in fear. Even Kallus asked "What creature is making that noise" slowly backing away from the base with his men.
As the banging continued in a more rapid pace the Inquisitor smiled muttering "So you still live boy. Not surprising". The banging soon stopped after that with a huge bump sticking out from the base.
Then after a few moments a blue saber stuck out of the base wall and began cutting in a circle. All of the stormtroopers instinctively readied their blasters.
With the Imperials distracted Sabine took the opportunity grabbing Ezra putting his arm over her shoulders retreating closer to the base. When they were in the clear for the moment Sabine took another quick look at Ezra's chest. The wound was bad, even though the scorching made it to where no blood escaped Ezra's body he still needed medical attention and fast.
Suddenly the sizzling had stopped which caught Sabine and Ezra's eyes. There was no blue saber piercing through the wall making Sabine worry a bit. As she reached for her blaster a large and extremely loud explosion erupted from the inside of the base sending the cutted part of the base along with a pile lode of dust bursting from the inside.
The Imperials advanced on the base cautiously weapons aimed at the hole. The cut piece of the base landed on one of the troopers near the back, but the only ones to react were the ones who almost got crushed beside the trooper. The Imperials kept their aim at the hole waiting for something or someone to pop out. Nothing came out of the base and the longer the Imperials stood there waiting the more anxious and frightened they became from the silence. The long moment of silence even made Zeb and Kanan look at the base expecting something to happen.
Everyone was too focused on the base that they didn't notice Stahl right behind them. He kept quiet crouching low to the ground so no one would see him. He stood behind the first transport which a trooper stood 3 feet from.
Stahl making sure to be very silent stalked up behind the trooper covering her mouth with one hand piercing his blade through her neck with the other. He looked over at another trooper just 4 feet away and killed him in the same manner.
Stahl was able to kill 6 stormtroopers before the only ones that were left were too close together for a stealth kill. Stahl unhooked his lightsabers from his back and brought them together charging at the closest trooper.
When the trooper heard the sound of a lightsaber he was too late. The second he had turned around the last thing he saw was a blue light slicing down on his face. The trooper left of him was able to see Stahl's figure but was cut down followed by the one on the right getting stabbed.
With the yells of the fallen troops catching the rests attention the entire army stood in fear. The sight of the fallen bodies, the smell of burning metal, and the angered expression on Stahl with the light from his saber on his face shook everyone of the Imperials too their knees. Even the Inquisitor felt his heart skip a beat at this image, he was also very intrigued.
The Ghost crew however were confused as too why the Imperials weren't moving. That didn't mean that they didn't take advantage of this.
Sabine grabbed a grenade from her pouch and chucked it into the center of the Imperials sending the army into array again. Zeb continued on to snipe down trooper by trooper. Kanan attacked the Inquisitor again continuing their fight. Stahl charged at the enemy again running right through the middle of the army cutting down every trooper he could.
As the frantic shooting continued Kallus was stuck between two threats he could possibly take out. He weighed his options and soon found that there would be more glory in killing Stahl even though the Inquisitor told him to keep him alive.
Kallus grabbed the closest trooper ordering him "Order all Troopers to convert on the Lasat, leave the Jedi to the Inquisitor". "But sir what about Demon Scar" the Stormtrooper asked.
Kallus pride fully smiled shoving the trooper away answering "Demon Scar is mine". The trooper nodded and did as he was ordered.
With all the troopers focusing their attention on the Lasat Kallus smugly walked over to Stahl as he cut down another 4 troopers. When he took notice of Kallus approaching him and not the other stormtroopers Stahl asked "Why aren't you all coming at me? You do know who I am?".
Even though Kallus was facing against Stahl the Agent couldn't hold in his menacing laughter as he answered "I know who you are Demon Scar". The sound of those two words made Stahl tighten his grip on his saber while also adding on his desire to see Kallus blood on his blade.
"That is also why I challenge you. Now face ME!!!!" Kallus continued activating his bo-rifle. Stahl took the challenge deactivating his lightsaber to give Kallus a tiny chance. If Stahl were too use the burning saber against Kallus rifle it would be over in a instant. Stahl's saber material could take a beating without causing significant damage, and Stahl also wanted to make the fight better by breaking Kallus pride with the thought of losing in a fair fight.
Both of them took their fighting stance. Both of them focused only on the other as the shouting and shooting became only background noises.
The two stayed like this for what seemed like hours. Then when they heard the sound of a distant rock crashing Kallus took action yelling at the top of his lungs charging Stahl.
Kallus took to the air stabbing at Stahl who blocked and moved the end away. The two then began spinning their staffs simultaneously clashing each end against each others. Kallus went for a swipe at Stahl's legs. Stahl dodged the attack and somersaulted behind Kallus. He then brought his handle up to Kallus face sending him staggering a couple of feet.
As Kallus regained his footing he was quickly barraged by a series of hits to his face, ribs, thighs, muscles joints, hard thrusts to his chest and stomach as well. Stahl may have given Kallus a fighting chance but that didn't mean Stahl wasn't going to take an advantage on his opponent.
Stahl continued the assault dodging a couple of flimsy attacks and countering with kicks and wacks. Kallus face had been busted that his nose drew blood which only encouraged Stahl to hit harder. Stahl even grabbed one of Kallus flimsy punches and broke his left arm as punishment.
Kallus screamed in pain as Stahl continued to assault the defenseless Imperial. Kallus screams however called the attention of the trooper who had been ordered by Kallus to advance on Zeb. The troopers face covered with fear at the image before him. The sight of Kallus being overpowered and played with by Stahl sent chills down the soldiers spine.
However the trooper managed to muster up enough courage to get 5 troops to follow him. With the 6 of them running to aid Kallus they could only hope they would make it in time.
Kalluses brutal beating were severely affecting him. His legs were growing very weary from the intense beating and his vision was blurry from his swollen eye and the blood from his skull.
Seeing the Imperial basically broken Stahl had gotten bored with his prey and had decided to end it. Stahl jabbed Kallus in the ribs one more time adding a little extra force to his attack sending Kallus flying into one of the transports.
As Stahl approached Kallus he took notice that Kallus tried to stand up using the transport as support to only fall again. This drew in a light chuckle from Stahl as he stood over Kallus smashing his foot on the Imperials back.
Kallus yelled again in pain hearing the humming sound of Stahl's saber faintly seeing the blue light. He soon felt the extreme heat of the saber lightly piercing his skin and mark all over his back.
Kallus screamed and cried at Stahl begging him to stop. Stahl acknowledged Kallus request and brought the saber off of Kalluses back and in front of his face. Even though the blade wasn't touching Kallus he could still feel the heat radiating from the weapon. Kallus then began hearing Stahl speak "Now you know where you stand Kallus. You may be a warrior in your own way but your far from ever standing a chance at defeating me".
Stahl then raised his saber above Kallus head saying "Only at the end do you see Kallus" getting ready to kill him. Kallus could only look at Stahl in fear as his life was about to end.
At the very last second however Stahl had to redirect his lightsaber to block an energy current. Stahl turned around to see 6 stormtroopers charging at him blasters aimed and firing.
Stahl began spinning his blade sending all of the energy currents blasted at him in random directions.
Stahl quickly ran towards one of the transports so he wouldn't be exposed. The 6 stormtroopers ran over to Kalluses position with one of the troops examining him and ordering the others to follow Stahl.
The troops were hesitant to approach but felt they could have a chance at beating Stahl. As they turned around however their hope's were short lived. Stahl had taken advantage of their unattentive surveillance towards him and had jumped at them with his lightsabers activated.
Stahl decapitated the first two Imperials piercing the other two that stood behind them. The last two stood in complete shock.
Stahl walked up to the first soldier that stood between him and Kallus. The whole time the trooper was paralyzed in fear.
When Stahl stood next to the trooper without making any effort to look at the soldier in white he stabbed the trooper in the chest. The trooper died instantly, but Stahl didn't remove the saber just yet.
He looked at the other trooper caring for Kallus while hearing the sizzling sound from the burning metal. Stahl twisted the blade a bit to get a little more sizzling before he removed the blade.
The trooper only watched as he saw another one of his fellow soldiers body fall lifelessly. Then Stahl's shadow soon overlapped both of the Imperials.
As the soldier looked up at Stahl shaking in his boots Stahl brought his saber up to the soldiers neck saying "I'm guessing your the one who rallied them. Your very brave to face me, but you're a fool". The soldier soon closed his eyes waiting for the end to come.
Back on the other side of the battlefield Kanan and the Inquisitor continued to trade blows with each other. Kanan attempted to sweep the Inquisitors feet in hope that it would knock the Inquisitor off balance long enough to give him an opening. The Inquisitor however was able to lift his foot in time as Kanan sweeped under him.
The Inquisitor quickly brought up his foot kicking Kanans face. He then swiftly cut Kanans stomach.
The cut was only a surface cut, but from the insane burning sensation Kanan became toodistracted. He quickly felt the blow of an elbow to his face followed by a kick to his chest causing Kanan to have the air knocked out of him.
Kanan didn't have enough time to recollect his air before he was sent flying into a rock. The extreme force almost fractured Kanan's back but it did keep him from breathing a little longer.
As Kanan tried to catch his breath the Inquisitor stared down at the wounded jedi admiring the view. After a few more seconds the Inquisitor walked over to Kanan.
He soon towered over the jedi who looked up at him in anger. The Inquisitor lightly chuckled before he told Kanan "I really do wish that I could have taken you prisoner, but having a dead Jedi is better than have a free live one".
Kanans eyes quickly widened in fear not because he was about to die, but because if he was gone what would happen to his crew, his team, his.....family. Kanan tried to stand up to fight the Inquisitor.
The Inquisitor kicked Kanan in the face to keep him down as he rose his saber up. All Kanan could do was wait for his life to end.
However as the Inquisitor swung his blade down just as the saber was about to touch Kanans neck he was suddenly sent flying from a instant force on his chest. The force was so much that the Inquisitor lost his balance skidding across the ground a few feet away from Kanan.
Kanan looked up too see who had saved him. He wasn't that surprised to see that the figure responsible for his saviour was none other than Stahl.
Stahl had used the force to propel him across the battlefield with extreme accuracy so he could kick the Inquisitor away.
Stahl offered a hand to Kanan who gratefully took it and was helped up. "Stahl thank you" Kanan said as he dusted himself off.
Stahl looked away from Kanan toward the Grand Inquisitor saying "Welcome" as he saw the Grand Inquisitor regaining his footing.
When the Grand Inquisitor was able to stand he glared over at Stahl. He was deeply upset that Stahl had foiled him in diminishing another one of his foes again.
However the Grand Inquistor quickly took this as an opportunity to capture Stahl and maybe even Kanan. He activated his lightsaber twirling it while taking his fighting stance.
Stahl was about to take his stance when Kanan grabbed his shoulder and told him "Spectre 7 go help Spectre 6 and Spectre 5".
"Are....you.....fucking.....KIDDING ME" Stahl yelled at Kanan smacking his hand off his shoulder really pissed at Kanan. This was a level of madness beyond what Stahl had been before. He had just saved Kanans life and now he wanted to run. That wasn't going to work this time for Stahl, he had too much anger and too big of a blood lust to kill the Inquisitor.
Stahl tried to keep a leveled head around Kanan though arguing "I just saved your life and you want me to run? From him?". "Its not running Spectre 7 its tactical retreating. I need you to help Spectre 6 with the right flank" Kanan argued back trying his best to convince Stahl who was being too stubborn.
The two continued to argue back and forth while the Grand Inquisitor stood there watching. After a little bit of more arguing the Inquisitor had reached his point and yelled at the two "Hey Mandalorian and Jedi. How about you both stop arguing and just attack me. You both might be a worthy fight for me".
The two stopped arguing and looked at the Grand Inquisitor both of them having a different reaction. Kanan was confused about who The grand Inquisitor was talking about, the only mandalorian on his crew was Sabine. Unless that meant....
Kanan slowly looked over at Stahl who carried a shocked and angered face. Stahl's entire body was filled with complete rage from what the Inquisitor had carelessly blurted.
If Kanan found out about Stahl, if the others found out. Now that this was possibly out now Stahl didn't care about the Jedi "code" he gripped his lightsaber feeling the cold metal burrow into his skin.
He then charged the Inquisitor yelling at full force jumping into the air somersaulting and striking at the Inquisitor full force.
The Inquisitor jumped out of the way as Stahl's lightsabers collided with the ground. The Inquisitor swung at Stahl who only dodged the blade enough to where his clothes on his shoulder were the only thing to get burnt.
Stahl pivoted on his back leg and spun around swinging at the Inquisitors rib cage. The Inquisitor was fast enough to block the attack with his back saber.
After seeing that little skirmish Kanan decided to join in the fight. He charged the Inquisitor and attempted to stab him.
The Inquisitor however sensed Kanan and pushed Stahl in front of the Jedis path. This caused the two to collide into each other and fall to the ground.
The Inquisitor backed off the two tangled rebels and allowed them to regain themselves. He wanted this fight to be as rewarding as possible.
When the two regained their footing Kanan tried to talk up a plan into Stahl. However the second Stahl had regained his footing he jumped back at the Inquisitor swiping aimlessly at him.
The Inquisitor blocked all of Stahl's attacks and quickly began to toy with his prey. He would leave his sides wide open for Stahl to hit only to either block or move away taughtingly saying "Is that all you got. I thought you were a warrior?".
This made Stahl even angrier striking at the Inquisitor more carelessly. His attacks continued to only hit nothing except the air and ground.
Kanan was about to help Stahl again, but as he took a step he felt a tremendous pain on his waist. When Kanan lifted up his shirt and saw that what was presumably only a flesh wound was actually a bid cut across his waist.
The cut wasn't bad too where Kanan would die if he didn't get medical attentionimmediately. But the cut was enough to put Kanan out of commission for fighting any more.
So Kanan watched on as Stahl waved his sabers at the Inquisitor. Stahl was still unable to land any strikes on the Inquisitor because of his blind rage.
Stahl soon got kicked back to Kanans side. As he was about to go for another round the slight scent of burning skin filled Stahls nose. He looked at Kanan with some concern in his eyes asking "Kanan.....are you ok?"
Kanan gave the Spectre a weary pained smile saying "I'm fine Spectre 7, but you need to get to cover. Hera will be here......" winching in pain.
Stahl clearly saw how much pain that Kanan was in. He did need medical attention, but without knowing how long Hera would be the best that Kanan could hope for was for him not to endure more pain or stress.
Seeing the situation that Kanan was in Stahl shifted from blood thirst mode to Guardian mode. He took a deep calming breath and stood in between Kanan and the Inquisitor saying "Its alright Kanan, I'll make sure nothing else happens to you. I promise".
The look on Stahl's face was enough that Kanan was shocked and slightly proud of. The face of a killer no longer consumed Stahl, now the face of a rebel engulfed his face.
Kanan smiled at Stahl lowering his head accepting his situation saying "Thank you Spectre 7".
The compliment while appreciated meant nothing to Stahl. To him he was protecting Kanan because he had made a promise to do so.
The Inquisitor just smiled at the two saying "You two certainly are unique beings. It's going to be wonderful having you both as my prisoners".
Stahl then charged again at the Inquisitor, only this time he was more focused and controlled about his actions.
The two striked at each other both blades clashing and locking with each others. The Inquisitor had taken on to the offensive slicing directly at Stahls head or his torso. With his twin blades disconnected Stahl was able to block these series of attacks even being able to give some of his own.
However even with a bit more skill in his pocket the Inquisitor still outranked Stahl in terms of blade fighting. Stahl was quickly getting overwhelmed by all the attacks and soon found himself corned.
With Stahl being cornered and since Kanan was not in any condition to help Stahl the Grand Inquisitor moved his face inches from Stahl and began saying. "You see Demon Scar it's like I said your a killer. I saw it in your eyes and in your rash actions. You should have used that anger to give you the power you needed".
The words that filled Stahls ears were like a poison that Stahl was being forced to be injected with. He tried to push back against the Inquisitor but he didn't have the strength to match him.
Stahl then looked over at Kanan who only stared right back with fear in his eyes still clutching his stomach.
"You should have joined me back at your memorial." The Inquisitor told Stahl. "If you had joined me then maybe the Jedi and his friends might have been spared this pain. All of this is because of you. It's like I said Stahl your going to be the death of them".
Stahl soon felt his heart beating faster and louder to the point where his ears began to hurt. His arms felt weaker and weaker. His entire body was starting to give under the weight of the guilt that had built up inside of him.
After the Inquisitor saw this he had decided that it was over. The Inquisitor balled up one of his free hands and reared it back ready to finish of Stahl. This fight was all but decided.
The final thing that had come to Stahls mind was Hera and how he had failed her. Stahl looked up at what he could see of the sky letting a tear fall down his cheek as he whispered "I'm sorry Mother. I couldn't keep my promise".
Stahl then closed his eyes and waited for everything to be done with.
However as the Inquisitors fist was inches from Stahls face the sound of a ship was heard followed by Cannon fire.
The blasts had been directed at the Inquisitor and Stahl making them fly away. The Inquisitor lost his grip on Stahl and was soon sent hurdling away by more cannon fire.
After Stahl landed on the ground he looked up to see who had fired at him and saw the best thing he could have possibly seen. It was the Phantom that flew past him shooting at all of the other Imperials significantly reducing their numbers.
From behind him Stahl heard a voice yell "Spectre 7 grab Spectre 1 we're getting out of here". Stahl looked and saw Hera over at the crushed base firing at the remaining troopers. Stahls eyes filled up with tears of joy at the sight of Hera. But he quickly wiped them away and ran over to Kanan.
Kanan was still in the same position he was just in when Stahl last saw him. Only this time he was much more relieved that this fight would soon be over.
Stahl wrapped one of Kanans arms over his shoulder helping him to Hera's position.
Hera kept the two covered from the remaining troops that tried to blast them. Once the two made it over Hera yelled through her comm link "All Spectres regroup we're leaving".
Through the other end of her comm link Hera heard "Got it Hera on my way" from Zeb and "Hera Spectre 6 is wounded I need help transporting him".
"Copy that Spectre 5. Spectre 4...
" Hera began ordering but didn't get the chance to finish because Zeb ran past her saying "I've got it Hera". With that all they could do was hold their position until Chopper found an opening for the Ghost to fly down and pick them up. With what was left of the Imperials focused on them however it wasn't going to be easy.
Hera kept firing on back at the incoming Imperials. As she did once Stahl had placed Kanan down in as best of a comfortable position as he could he joined up with Hera and began blasting at the Imperials.
Through all of that as the Grand Inquisitor began regaining consciousness he looked over at the general direction where the troopers were shooting at. When he saw a green Twi'lek next to Stahl he began getting really angry. Again and again this crew had thwarted him in his plans.
The Inquisitor had decided that enough was enough. He spun his saber until he began flying towards the transports.
Once he reached the transports he noticed Agent Kallus wounded and getting medical aid beside the first transport. The sight of the wounded Agent disgusted the Inquisitor for having such high regard for him only to be found wounded.
"Where are the explosives?" The Grand Inquisitor asked the medic. The medic pointed over toward the last transport answering "The crates of explosives are inside that transport sir".
As the Grand Inquisitor began walking towards the back transport the medic grabbed ahold of his shoulder making the Inquisitor face him. "Sir forgive me for asking, but your not going to use those explosives on the rebels while our men are in the line of fire? Right sir?" The medic asked.
The Inquisitor gave the medic a cold "yes" before he smacked his hand away and continued walking to the transport.
Before the Grand Inquisitor could however the medic jumped in front of him saying "Sir I can't allow you to do that with that many lives at stake". He was swiftly meet with a red hot blade surging through his chest. As the medic looked down at the blade he asked "Wh-why" giving out before he could even be answered.
The Inquisitor still answered the dead medic "Because I will not let that boy slip through my fingers again" throwing the body aside. The Inquisitor looked back over at the other trooper that was besides Kallus asking in a taunting tone "Do you have any objections".
The soldier looked down at the lifeless body of the medic feeling her heart pound against her chest. The sight of the body and the smell of burnt metal consumed her in fear. For it reminded the soldier of the 5 others that Demon Scar had ruthlessly killed.
With the silent stillness from the trooper the Grand Inquisitor turned toward the transport mumbling "I didn't think so".
Once the Inquisitor got to the transport he headed towards the back. There he found two crates filled with explosives.
The Inquisitor grabbed one of the explosives and walked out of the ship using the force to levitate the rest of them.
As he stepped out he could still see the troopers shooting at the Twi'lek and Stahl. The Grand Inquisitor quickly sent all of the grenades flying at them both.
The grenades fell all around Stahl and Hera as well as the other stormtroopers who stopped firing. The troopers were confused as to where the grenades had come from.
That's when everyone looked over at the Grand Inquisitor who stood there smiling. With the flick of his thumb he activated the grenade in his hand and sent the grenade flying.
The grenade soon exploded 10 feet in the air from the lobby of grenades, but it was enough.
Grenades soon began exploding one after another taking troopers and rubble with them. The explosions swiftly made it's way toward Hera, Kanan, and Stahl.
Stahl was fast enough to grab Hera and throw her behind him as the explosive force as well as rubble sent the three of them flying.
The force was strong enough to where it sent Zeb, Sabine, and Ezra flying. Zeb was able to grab the two teens in the air, but the three still rammed into the rocks.
Shrapnel even flew to the far side where the Inquisitor and Kallus was at.
The Inquisitor used his spinning lightsaber to cut through the shrapnel and the force to counter strike against the force of the grenades. Shrapnel still however flew past the Inquisitor toward Kallus.
Kallus was still unable to move, but the stormtrooper that had saved his life stood in front of the shrapnel saving Kallus. However the shrapnel pieces punctured through the troopers armor severely wounding her.
The explosions were over in an instant. What looked like a base before was nothing more than simple rubble.
Metal pieces were all over the field, there were broken rock pieces falling or already apart, there was burnt body pieces from the troopers that were caught in the cross fire. The explosions were even enough to create a bigger crater opening in the canyon.
Stahl was the first one who woke up. It was hard however because the force of the explosions rumbled his nervous system making his entire body hurt. His piercing in his side had reopened along with his left shoulder bleeding. A piece of the grenade shrapnel must have been what cut him.
Stahl tried to keep his breathing calm as he grabbed a broken piece of a rock for support. Stahl's legs felt weak under his weight and loss of blood. Stahl still forced himself to stand only worried about Hera.
Once Stahl could stand he looked around seeing nothing but rocks a rubble. Stahl's heart began to beat uncontrollably. So did Stahl's breathing.
Stahl wasn't worried about what kind of danger he was in. His body was acting this way because he was worried about whether Hera had survived the explosion.
Stahl looked around more frantically increasing the blood flow as well as the blood lost. Stahl soon found Hera cut, bleeding, and unconscious, but alive.
This calmed Stahl down a bit, but he knew he had to hurry. So he began moving towards her position feeling his warm blood flow down his sides and shoulder into his hand.
Stahl was almost about to reach Hera when he was kicked in the shoulder. The force sent Stahl tumbling down a small flight of rocks.
When Stahl hit the bottom he tried to get back up. His body however couldn't move from the amount of damage it had taken.
As Stahl tried to move again he began hearing the low sound of a hum. He looked up the rock pile and saw the Inquisitor at the top looking down at him.
Stahl felt more fear creep up his body, it even began to show in his eyes. The fear wasn't for him however, it was for what the Inquisitor would do if he knew Hera was literally right next to him.
Stahl's fears were realized as the Inquisitor turned towards the unconcious Twi'lek. He began to approach her tightening his grip on his lightsaber.
As he neared her the Grand Inquisitor heard Stahl yell "Leave her alone. She has done nothing to harm you". This made the Inquisitor move at a greater pace until he was towering over her. The red glow from his blade consumed the color of the Twi'lek.
The Grand Inquisitor raised his lightsaber above his head ready to strike her. Before he did however he began hearing a faint crying.
The crying was followed by a voice saying "Inquisitor please. Let her live please. I'll do anything you want, I'll be your apprentice and learn the ways of the dark side just please. She means everything to me....they all do. Please spare them and take me".
The Inquisitor turned toward the source, turned toward Stahl who was covered with dust and tears. His eyes pleaded for him to let them live.
The Inquisitor however just smiled wickedly at Stahl saying "Don't worry my apprentice..." turning back towards Hera. "...You'll still be my apprentice and after I finish this crew I'll get you a new Twi'lek. This one is too much trouble".
"NO HERA. I'm sorry......I'm sorry mom" Stahl cried into the dirt not having the will to see Hera die as he heard the Inquisitor yell and swipe down his blade.
However as the Inquisitor was about to kill Hera the sound of an engine filled Stahl's ears followed by the Ghost swooping out of the canyon top. The ship smashed against the Inquisitor knocking the Pua'an out cold.
Stahl was left there shocked and relieved that Chopper had come in at the last minute and saved Hera.
Speaking of Chopper Stahl began hearing the droid beep *Stahl hurry get the others we have to leave*.
Stahl complied forcing his body to get up even though it was extremely painful. He then wearily walked over to Hera still letting tears drop from his eyes. The near death of Hera was haunting for Stahl and even though the Inquisitor was unconcious she nor the others were out of the woods yet.
Once Chopper lowered the ramp Stahl dragged Hera and Kanan aboard the ship smearing blood over the ground. Then after taking a quick breather to cough up a little blood Stahl went back out to find the others.
Stahl found them all scattered across the mountain of rocks, but their injuries seemed a bit better compared to his and Hera's.
Stahl soon dragged them aboard the Ghost near Kanan and Hera. Chopper soon closed the ramp and began flying out of the canyon.
As the ship flew into orbit Stahl sat next to the crew breathing very heavily. A lot consumed his mind, but one thing stayed bold through all of it.
Even though they all escaped, the Inquisitor may have just won the war with them.
Sorry this took so long guys. Hopefully this was worth the wait. If you all like this chapter like and comment and I will try to update the next chapter when I can. Until I do though pray that the crew survive and....
Spectre 7 out
