Going Back

(Y/N) woke up to a new day. As she was getting ready to go to work, her phone was suddenly buzzing.

It was a call from her mom, back in Louisiana.

"Hey mom!!" (Y/N) said into the phone. She heard her mother..weeping?

"Mom? Are you okay? Why did you call so early?" (Y/N) asked eager questions. She sat on her bed, listening to the phone.

"(Y/N)..." Her mom let out a small sob. "Aunt Marcie died last night."

(Y/N)'s eyes widened, her heart raced and so many questions filled her head. "WhAt?!"

(Y/N)'s mom was having trouble speaking through her sobs.

"Mom what happened?!"

Aunt Marcie was (Y/N)'s favorite, her mother's sister. She was like a second mom to her. She loved Aunt Marcie since she could ever remember. Her aunt was always there for her, and now... She's not.

"Someone found her body on the streets. Authorities s-said some people jumped her. S-she might've gotten so scared her heart stopped. Y-you know how old she is.." (Y/N)'s mom explained. (Y/N) now had tears in her eyes.

She couldn't believe it. It happened so fast. (Y/N) cursed on those who caused it, she wished them bad things.

"What's happening now?" (Y/N) said through her sobs. She wiped tears that left her face.

"There's gonna be a funeral in a week. Will it be okay if you would fly back home?" (Y/N)'s mom asked, her voice now more audible.

(Y/N)'s nodded, even though her mom couldn't see it.

"I'll make plans today, maybe. I gotta go, love you, mommy." (Y/N) would only say 'mommy' if she was vulnerable, and at this moment, she was.

"Love you too, sweetie. Call me when you're arriving." (Y/N) ended the call.

'I guess I won't be working today'

Max hated waking up. But ever since (Y/N) came into his life, he found motivation.

(Y/N) was like a light to his dark world. Somehow she brought him color, and Max loved it. Now he wakes up, knowing (Y/N) will be at work. She makes him happy, and his roommates were noticing it.

Max got dressed, waiting for Tim and Ross also. In 20 minutes, they were on their way to the offices.

*small time skip*

Max entered his work station, feeling a little weird. Something was misplaced. But everything seemed fine...

Max sat in his chair, logging onto his computer. He began editing for future videos.

30 minutes passed and he still felt weird. Out of instinct, he looked over to the corner were (Y/N) was stationed.

She wasn't there.

Max's eyebrows furrowed. (Y/N) never missed a day of work. 90% of the time she was here before Max anyways.

Maybe that's why he felt weird. He didn't get a "Hello." from (Y/N). And maybe that's why he felt empty.

'Shit shit shit shit, Max NO!!' He mentally yelled at himself. Max caught his thoughts thinking about (Y/N). He actually has a crush on her. He doesn't know how to control it though.

Max got up with some paperwork in his hand. He was going to give to them to Adam for him to fill out. Once he made it to his office, he asked his boss, "Hey, Adam. I'd (Y/N) taking a day off?"

Adam nodded taking the papers. "(Y/N) called in to Em. Em told me there was a family problem. She's gonna fly back to Louisiana." Adam explained. Max nodded, hiding his shock and worry.

*time skip to after work*

Max needed to talk to (Y/N), personally. Everyone else texted or called her saying "good luck" "hope everything is okay" "we love you" and all that. Max wanted to be face to face with (Y/N).

He drove to her house, knocking on the door. (Y/N) opened it feather quickly.

"Oh, hi Max." (Y/N) mumbled letting him in. (Y/N) closed the door as Max went to the couch. (Y/N) followed.

"So I heard you're going back home?" Max looked at (Y/N) who sat a good distance from him. (Y/N) nodded, wiping her face.

"Yeah, but only for a week." (Y/N) sniffled. Max noticed her shyness.

"What happened?" He asked sincerely. (Y/N) took a deep breath.

"My aunt died. I'm going to her funeral." (Y/N) briefly said looking at her lap, playing with her fingers. Max nodded silently.

"She was my favorite aunt. Why did she have to go? She doesn't deserve this. I hate the world!!" (Y/N) started screaming. Her anger soon turned into sadness as her tears rolled down her cheeks. She hadn't stopped crying since this morning.

Max scooted closer to (Y/N), wrapping his arms around her in comfort. (Y/N) left herself fall into Max's arms as they held her.

"It's okay, (Y/N). Shhh.. Your aunt is in a better place now. In heaven she won't be harmed anymore." Max stated. He rubbed his hand up and down (Y/N)'s back as she sobbed into his shirt, which he didn't mind at all.

"You're right." (Y/N) nodded lifting her head up, resting her cheek on his shoulder. "Thanks Max. That really means a lot."

(Y/N) didn't want to say more. She didn't want to mention he was the only one who actually came to her to comfort her (even though she loved the guys equally). (Y/N) just laid in Max's arms until she stopped crying.

"There, there." Max cooed petting (Y/N)'s hair. She lifted herself from Max's chest and looked at him. Max saw red puffy eyes and a red nose. He gave a small grin.

"Maybe I should go say hi to your family and tell them I met you...again." (Y/N) chuckled wiping her cheek. Max giggled nodding. "Send me a picture."

(Y/N) looked at the time. "It's getting late. You should go home. I have to leave tomorrow." Max got up from the couch and went to the door, (Y/N) following him.

"Stay safe, and I send my prayers." Max smiled at (Y/N). (Y/N) nodded hugging Max again. "Thank you being here. It really means a lot."

(Y/N) then did a thing she never thought she'd do.

She got up on her tippy toes and kissed Max on the cheek. It was just a simple peck, but both Max and (Y/N) blushed. No one said anything about it.

"Goodnight, (Y/N)."

"Goodnight, Max."
