Crossing Paths
Max's eyes widened to Ross' question. Suddenly, his face started to feel really hot and the rest of the guys noticed.
"W-what?! No!!" Max defended himself trying to look away from his friends. He felt embarrassed and he wished this moment would end already.
Adam turned in his seat and saw the pretty lady Max was looking at. "Max, you should go say hi." Adam snickered trying to be quiet so the girl wouldn't hear.
"No! Just forget about it!" Max protested crossing his arms, huffing. He began to get frustrated at their teasing.
"No need to get mad, Max." Tim teased smiling at the red-headed ginger. Max smiled at the nickname, but he wouldn't be smiling about it in the future.
"Get up and say hi." Ross encouraged Max by kicking him under the table. Max was still was pouting as Ross kicked him. The kicking became annoying and Max got even more frustrated.
"Stop it!!" Max called out catching maybe a couple of peoples' attention.
"Mad Max!!" Ross spit out kicking Max even more. Max soon got really mad and he was almost turning red. The anger built up on him, from his friends' teasing (in front of a pretty girl) and Ross' annoying kicking that was starting to give an ache in Max's shin.
"I won't stop kicking until you get up and say hi to her!" Ross protested against Max's huffing.
Max had enough. It was like he blew up. Max yelled, "Alright, alright!!" And got up from his chair. Behind him he could hear Adam's famous laugh and maybe Red's voice saying something that he couldn't really comprehend.
Max mumbled curse words to his friends and himself while approaching the table to where the woman he was looking at earlier was.
Max stopped his movements and his face relaxed when he found himself right in front of the girl.
The girl looked up at the man who stopped next to her table. She saw his face, red and angry. She wondered what happened. Even though she heard him and his friends when she eavesdropped a couple seconds ago.
"Hello." The girl said. Max's face expression completely changed to the sound of her voice. It was soft and smooth, even if she said one word.
Max snapped out of his day dreaming and opened his mouth. "My friends told me to come here and say 'hi'." He turned his head to the group and they were snickering like little kids. The girl looked over and saw them as well.
"Not to sound like a creep, but I know why you came over." The girl said folding her hands and resting her chin on top of them.
Max looked petrified.
'Crap did she think I was looking at her?!'
The girl giggled, realizing the man in front of her was speechless. The girl, being a welcoming lady, offered Max a seat across from her at her booth. Max took it slowly.
That girl was (Y/N).
(Y/N) watched as the man, who was probably nervous now, sit across from her. This time, she saw all his features. Red hair, beard and very dark brown eyes. (Y/N)'s eyebrows narrowed, her brain telling her something about this man.
"Since I won't be going anywhere anytime soon because of those douchbags, I'm Max." The man, or so, Max said, introducing himself while looking up at (Y/N).
"I'm (Y/N)." She smiled as Max grinned. Max looked down at the table not really knowing what to say next.
"So, uh, about my friends... Don't mind them." Max said uneasily hoping that (Y/N) didn't know anything about what happened earlier. But (Y/N) knew, and she didn't want to bring it up, maybe for Max's sake.
"It's fine. I used to have friends like that." (Y/N) chuckled sitting back in her booth chair. Max's head rose up. "Used to?"
"Yeah, well, I just moved here about a week ago and I'm trying to get to know Washington." (Y/N) briefly explained. Max nodded, sitting up in his chair booth.
"Right now I'm trying to find a job but no stores here are hiring." (Y/N) sighed as the waiter came over giving her the drink she asked for. (Y/N) said 'thank you' to the waiter.
Max got up quickly proposing a job to (Y/N). "I think my work can bring you in. I-if you'd like." Max caught himself stutter. And he never really stuttered.
"Max, oh my god are you serious?!" (Y/N) gasped after sipping her drink. Max nodded with a small smile on his face. Not to mention his heart beating a little bit faster than normal.
"What do you do?" (Y/N) asked curiously. Max took his arms and rested them on the table. Max sighed looking into (Y/N)'s eyes, being completely serious.
"I edit videos for YouTube."
