35. Let Loose

"Have you checked the scanners, for sure?"

"Emily, if you ask about the scanners one more time," Tony grumbled, giving me a glare as we trotted to the elevator. "Sorry, sorry. I just want make sure void isn't here..." I mumbled, squeezing into the confining box.

"She's a psycho," Jay said randomly, earning a 'mhm' from everyone in agreement. " all we need to do is just see the state our friends are in," Steve said calmly. Of course; always the level headed one. I rubbed my hands together nervously, as we all piled into the elevator.

I was getting damn tired of all this.

"Uh oh," Tony muttered, tapping at the screen. "Wha-what uh oh?" I said nervously. He chuckled sheepishly, jabbing at the poor panel. "Seems that uh, Void drained some of the power. Elevator will be a bit slow folks," he explained, earning a groan from everyone. Except Steve of course.

"Can you get it any faster?" He reacted instead. "If I could, I would capsicle," Tony retorted. "I would've been faster going through the stairs," Steve murmured under his breath. "Like I've said before, didn't these used to have music. Much more entertaining," he said softly. "Well probably back in your day, it was those strange jingles," Jay deducted. "Even if they do have music now, it's probably one hit wonders," Ben added. Suddenly Ben smirked at Aida, earning curious looks from everyone else. "Did we ever finish our song battle?" Aida asked. "No I don't think so..." Ben replied. "I'm sorry, am I missing something?" I started talking. "Oh my god is this what me and tony heard over the coms?" Lea suddenly smiled. Steve, Jay and I all cocked an eyebrow. Aida seemed to count off in her head, so I began to speak. "What's going o-"

Ben suddenly started humming the opening chords of a song, as if he were the background music. Jay looked at me, "What the-"

"We clawed, we chained our hearts in vain, we jumped, never asking why," Aida suddenly burst into song. Steve, Jay and I all jumped back in surprise. See, this is what happens when all your friends think they live in musical. Especially when they know they can actually sing. Lea joined in with the background music, as Aida took a breath. "We kissed, I fell, under your spell. A love, no one could deny..."

Suddenly Tony started tapping a Rhythm on the elevator door, like a drum set. Lea began to harmonize the melody as Ben kept a solid chord progression. "Did you guys plan this or something?" I asked incredulously. "Don't you ever say, I just walked away. I will always want you,"

"Emily what is happening? What are they singing?" Steve said softly.

"I can't live a lie, running for my life, I will always want you..."

The beat stopped, everyone looking dramatically at eachother in the dim lights. I smirked shrugging my shoulders at Jay. He knew what it meant.

"Someone please help. Explain what's going on..." Steves little voice tried. But it was too late.

"I CAME IN LIKE A WRECKING BALL!" We all scream-sang. Steve leaped back in surprise, hitting his back on the wall. "I NEVER HIT SO HARD IN LOVE!" I harmonized to Aida's melody. Ben was singing background with Lea as Jay beat boxed. Tony kept a great beat banging on the walls.

"ALL I WANTED WAS TO BREAK YOUR WALLS," our voices tore, "ALL YOU EVER DID WAS... WRECK ME!"

"Someone help,"

"I CAME IN LIKE A WRECKING BALL!" We sang with full force, Steve looking absolutely terrified. "YEAH I JUST CLOSED MY EYES AND SWUNG!"

I slung my arm around Jay and Steve, smiling in between lyrics. "Will you all please calm down,"

"LEFT ME CRASHING IN A BLAZING FALL!" We all simultaneously bending to our knees. "ALL YOU EVER DID WAS..." We shot back up, "WRECK ME!"

The boys sang, "YEAH YOU, YOU WRECKED ME!" Jay jokingly cupped his hands around my face, as Ben got on one knee next to Aida. Then the girls all ostentatiously flung ourselves on the guys; just as the elevator doors opened.

"YEAH YOU, YOU WRECKED ME!"

We were all breathing heavily by then, complete silence.

"Jesus lord, thank god it's over. We could here you from 4 floors away, and it wasn't ending," Clints voiced ranted from the beds. "I've heard worse," Natasha commented.

We rushed to their bedsides, cracking up from the ordeal. "You guys alright?" Steve asked, looking at us shakily. "And maybe want to explain to me later what I just witnessed?" He asked. Natasha gave him a nod as he unstrapped her. Tony began with Clint while I ran over to Jim. "As tone deaf as usual," He said to me, cracking a heartwarming smile.

"Shut up, you know we were great," I replied, ripping the restraints off. He chuckled, "you guys really were," he laughed, leaping up into my arms. I sank into his arms, feeling the familiarity of the embrace. "You stay away from that psycho bitch, understood?" Jay said coming up, giving Jim a clap on the back. "You don't have to tell me twice," Jim replied.

"Just a word of advice," he added, motioning us to move in closer. "Next time, Rick roll Steve," Jim whispered, making Jay and I to break out into grins. "On it," Jay said with a smirk.
