25. Finally

A/N DONT SKIP

I realized while writing this, that you may get confused. Later in the chapter, there will be italic writing in the middle of regular words. That's her remembering what they had said before. Now, when she's an animal and usually uses Italic writing, I'll use bold for this chapter. Okay! Just a quick note.

"Okay, so this is what's happe-"

"Hold on there tin man," Steve interrupted, leaving tony with an open mouth. "I'll be mostly making the plans," tony looked at Steve like he was a walking mushroom, "uh no- my tower, my own idea for the group equals my plan," tony said, shaking his head. "Do you want to get them in or not?" Steve asked, rolling his eyes. Sighing, tony crossed his arms.

"First things first, where were you and your friend being held?" Steve asked. I relaxed into my chair, which we had set into a small circle. "His name is Jim, and we were inside a plane," I replied, trying to remember exactly what it looked like. "And who was keeping you hostage?"

The question made my heart stop.

I had specifically remembered being told that I couldn't tell anyone Coulson was alive. But why was I trying to keep to that promise? I was SHIELD's enemy, right? Something inside of me told me that I better not spill. It would only cause chaos, and that was a distraction that would be taken away from Jim. I would have to avoid the question.

"Fury," I answered curtly, hoping he wouldn't get specific.

"Yes, but who directly?"

Is someone reading my thoughts? I kept my calm, I was used to having a cover. "I don't know," I said, internally smirking at my gullible associates. They seemed to buy it until something made them all squint in my direction. "What does dark grey mean?" Jay asked suspiciously. Damn it! I forgot about my eyes.

I didn't let the nervous flutter inside get the best of me. It meant lies. "Frustration. I don't know who it was, so it'll just make things harder," I played off coolly. They let it go, and relaxed in their chairs. Except for Steve. "Umm guys. I'm new here, so please explain the sudden eye color change?" He asked sheepishly. Lea smiled in amusement. "Side effect of powers. Changes color according to her emotions," she explained quickly. "And lily," she continued, "no need to worry. They probably moved him anyway,"

I pushed away the guilty feeling, and turned to Steve. "What's the plan?" I asked. He smiled, and tony smirked.

The five of us stood rigid outside of the Triskelion. Tony and Lea had stayed behind for technical support, while Ben, Aida, Jay, Steve and I, were the field agents.

Ugh, I sound like I'm from SHIELD. Steve turned to each of us. "Just remember, stick to the plan," he said, and right when he finished, our very own stark watches gave us a beep.

"Lea and tony are going to stay here. Lea will first hack into the system and figure out where they're keeping jim," Steve said, giving tony a nod. "We'll mess with their security as well. Temporarily turning off their security cameras," tony explained. "Yeah, but won't they notice something's wrong when their cameras magically turn off?" Ben asked. "That's where you and Aida come in," Steve continued, "while we're sneaking in, you guys will be a distraction. With Aida's gymnast skills and your enhanced power, it should draw enough attention,"

Tony nodded. "You guys will blow up a hole on the other side of jim's destination; when you get it," Steve leaned forward in his chair, "when we give the signal, release a smoke bomb, and then get the hell out of there,"

I looked down at the message on my wrist. "Looks like he's on the east side. Tenth floor, unit 5, room 15," I said aloud. "Tony, what kind of security measures are there on the door?" Jay asked intelligently. I hadn't helped but notice how serious Jay had become when we set out for the mission. He really wanted to help get Jim back.

"Security key card, you guys'll have to swipe it from a guard," Tony's voice emanated from our devices. Steve gave each of us a determined look, before gesturing toward the west side of the building. "Looks like you guys are up. Don't blow the thing up before we set the signal,"

Ben and Aida nodded, before sneaking towards the destination.

"Ben and Aida, when you blow up the building at our signal. That'll be when everyone is set in their positions. We don't want the building to reach havoc before we've even gotten inside," Steve explained.

Jay nibbled on his index finger. "Where will I be?" He asked. Tony made a box shape with his hands, then gestured to a corner. Whichever side it ends up being will determine where you go. But, there are elevators right on each corner, so you'll be waiting there for Emily and Steve. Unlike them, you can't just walk through the front door,"

"So, time for me to go now, huh?" Jay said breaking the silence. I nodded, giving him a small smile. "East elevators, try not to get caught dummy,"

He saluted towards us, before racing at the glass lifts. "Time for the final piece to commence the mission," said Steve. I took a deep breath, waiting for his order. "Do your thing," he barked. I felt my body become extremely small, the world around me see,I fly belonging to giants. I grew six legs and antennas, the small limbs feeling delicate on my thin body. The concrete pavement was as vast as a desert, and the sun made it like an oven.

"What do you mean walk through the door? Maybe Steve, but not me," I said bewildered. Tony laughed, "you'll be right next to Steve, don't worry. You'll be turning into an ant, hiding in his shirt pocket. When the security scanners go over him, you'll register as an insect,"

"Where are you?" Steve asked. Down here. He sighed. "Where exactly?" Lower your hand directly onto the floor in front of you. He did as I instructed, so I scurried over to his giant hand. "Amazing..." He murmured, "I expect a backstory when we finish this," he said. Yeah yeah... If we finished this.

We entered through the giant glass doors, to see agents piling about like a cluster of bees. I had perched on the edge of his pocket, so I could get the whole view. They were everywhere, carrying folders and big boxes marked classified. "Hello, Captain Rogers! Please step into the security scanner before entering," a lobby woman asked. "Of course..." He paused, looking at her name tag, "Sarah,"

She beamed beamed at the use of her name, and then went back to work. I awaits he dreadful sound of sirens as he entered the scanner. My tiny little heartbeat seemed to freeze. But nothing happened. He took a few more steps forward, obviously just as tense as I was. "We're clear," he breathed. "What was that?" Sarah asked, looking up at him with a smile. "Oh, just thank you," he said quickly. "My pleasure,"

Steve began to head towards the elevators, when an agent came his way. "Hey captain Rogers!" Steve out a smile on his face, "agent Rumlow! Good to see you," Steve replied. Rumlow gave Steve a rough pat on the back, causing me to tumble backwards into his pocket, slamming against a resting pen. It's just easier to stay at the bottom, why make all the work to go to the top again?

It's now been five minutes, and that's how long it took for the anxiousness to settle in.

How far away are we? "Almost there," Steve muttered, and a I heard a bing. "Elevator should be coming now," he whispered, tapping his foot. "Starting to talk to yourself now, Rogers?" Someone replied behind him. Curse me and my laziness, now I can't see who it is. "Well, agent Sitwell, in this new crazy world, sometimes that's what keeps me sane. Organizing my thoughts," Steve replied cooly. "Yes well, fury needs to talk to you, probably about something new and crazy," Sitwell chuckled, "if you would follow me please?"

I began to hear Sitwell's footsteps depart, and curiously wonder what Steve's move would be. "Hold on to the pen," he whispered so quietly, I almost didn't catch it. I held onto the sleek black pen, just as he picked it out of his pocket. I heard the elevators ding, followed by the opening of the doors. Steve quickly tossed the pen behind him, making roll into the open lift. "Complete the mission," was all I heard until he began to walk away, leaving the elevator to shut.

"So that's how she gets in, but what about Jay?" Lea asked, running a hand through her hair. Tony held up a pen. It had a sleek black design, looking as spotless as a black hole. "This is not an ordinary pen," he said simply, and I rolled my eyes. "Gee, who would've known," Jay mumbled sarcastically. Tony shot him a glare before continuing. "It's a laser pen. And it should cut through glass. As soon as you get to the elevators, you can use this to let Jay in. Once Jay is in the elevator, we'll give the signal for Aida and Ben to blow up a big ass hole in the building, and when they do, Lea and I will take out the security system," he explained. "Yeah, but with all the chaos, I'm sure people will be using that elevator," Aida commented.

"We can hack the system so that the button flashes red. Aka meaning that it's out of order,"

I transformed human, and quickly picked up the pen. Holding down the silver push top, I pointed towards the window of glass. A wobbly oval began to be cut out, without a single crack. Once it was fully cut, I made my hands with slight octopus tentacles, so that they would suction to the panel. I lifted it into the elevator setting it down carefully, so that it wouldn't crash outside and cause suspicion. "Jay, come now," I barked into my watch. In a matter of seconds, Jay swiftly climbed through the hole, looking determined until he realized something was wrong. "... Where's Steve?"

I spoke into my watch at the same time as explaining to Jay. "Guys we have a problem. Steve got taken by Sitwell to talk to Fury. It's seems no ones suspicious yet, and I've got Jay in the elevator. He told me to complete the mission," I hurriedly ranted. "Damn it this could compromise the mission!" Aida replied. "It'll cause slight complications, but we'll manage," tony said, trying to calm her down. "Fury has eyes everywhere. Someone must've spotted Steve walking into the tower, and alerted Fury," he continued. "But we can't go back now. I'm turning off the elevator, security cameras at the count of ten. Ben, Aida, your ready?"

"Have it all set up, waiting for your order," Ben replied. Tony sighed, "Alright, here we go. 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... Blow the place up!"

Before I could even here the rest of Tony's sentence, the entire building shook as an explosion was heard at the west wing. The building ceased its rattling, and then on cue, the Abrams began blaring holes in our eardrums. It was a constant BRAAH BRAAH BRAAH, with annoyingly yellow and red flashing lights. Jay slammed his two hands against his ears, "jeez! Could they something more annoying?" He shouted, and a slammed a hand over his mouth. "Shut up and stop complaining so loud, we're on a mission," I hissed and pressed the button to the tenth floor.

"Once you get to the tenth floor, there'll probably be guards waiting at the door. You need to take them out swiftly, and quietly. Hide the, in the elevator, and press the emergency stop button. Try not to be loud when taking agents down, go on stealth mode. If not, they'll come flooding towards you worse then a tsunami," tony explained, raising his eyebrows. "But we need to make one thing clear," Steve paused, "we are not killing any agents. Use temporary paralysis or just plain kicking them in the head; but everything must be non lethal," he said, looking us all in the eye.

I looked up at the elevator numbers, counting up as it neared the ninth floor. I began to get into a stance, but Jay held out a hand. "I got this," he said, and loaded a gun with some special bullets in his belt. As we expected, two guards were standing directly in front of the big silver, elevator doors. Before they even had a chance to turn around, Jay shot both of them in the back of the neck. Straight in the middle. I glanced at the small darts protruding, before the collapsed into a heap on the ground.

I stared in shock, before opening my mouth. "They didn't even stand a chance," I whispered, looking over to a smirking Jay. He put the gun in his holster, and proceeded to walk to one of the bodies. "Usually that's what people say when the see me talking to girls but..." I smacked him upside the head. Even in serious mode, Jay was naturally cocky. I grabbed one of the guys arms while Jay grabbed their legs. Thrusting his upwards, we realized he weighed more than we had originally thought. "My god," Jay huffed as we set him down, "what the hell does this guy eat?"

"Bricks. I think he actually eats bricks," I replied, catching my breath.Jay swiped the guys security card, and began to pocket it. "Sorry buddy, we're gonna have to take that," I joked. I looked over to the hallway and groaned. Jay sighed, "oh my god, there's another one," he exclaimed. "Screw this," I grunted, as I morphed into a gorilla. I took one step forward and lifted the man like he weighed nothing, then set him down a little rough next to his friend. Turning back human, I pressed the emergency stop button. "Could've been a bit more gentle," Jay suggested as we stalked the halls. I ignored him, and peered around the corner.

No one in sight.

"Alright tony, were in. Can you tell me what unit were in?" I spoke into my watch. "Your in unit 4. To your right is a long hallway. When you reach the end, make a right into unit five, and then continue 15 rooms down," he explained. "Okay," I simply replied, before Tony's voice returned. "Oh my god, I wish you could see this. Lea is reeking havoc across the SHIELDS database and technology like nobody's business, it's so great. And since we hacked the cameras we can see what's happening. All the agents look like a bunch of chickens running around with their heads cut off," I heard a laugh in the background. "Tony! Tony! Look at this! When I turned on the sprinkler system they began to run around and now people are slipping on the water like crazy! Forget Disney on ice, SHIELD on ice is as much entertainment I need!" Lea's voice laughed in the distance. I heard them break into hysterics before rolling my eyes at Jay.

"Well, stay in there guys don't let the stress get to you. I mean, we're just dragging 50,000 pound men into elevators without trying to be killed. We have no idea what horrors your going through," I said sarcastically. "Yeah yeah, get off the coms grumpy pants. Just do me a favor and stay safe," Lea said, now more clearly. Her vice turning sweet at the end of the sentence. "Can't make any promises," Jay replied for me.

We turned the corner and began to jog through the hallway. I saw a figure turn in from Unit five. Before Jay or the unfortunate agent could even react, I leaped forward, turning into a boa constrictor, and wrapping around his neck. I suffocated him enough to just make him pass out, before unraveling and morphing back human. "I got that," I said to Jay, who was still processing what was happening. "Remind me not to piss you off," he said quickly, giving me a slightly worried look. I chuckled a little at his remark. "Yeah, too late for that,"

We began to jog move more, now a few rooms away from my best friend.

"Once you reach his door, you'll open it up, and grab and run. No time for heart felt remorse and guilt or thanks, whatever you do. Blow a hole in the side of the building, and use the pterodactyl to fly you guys out of there. Tell us when your blowing the hole, so that we can signal Ben and Aida to run like hell. We're meeting under the highway, not that far from the Triskelion. I'll be there with a car, and we'll hide out at avengers tower," tony explained, coming to a conclusion from the very long plan.

"Let's go get our friend back," I had said simply, causing a bigger stir inside people than I had expected.

"Room fifteen, we're here," Jay said suddenly, coming to a halting stop. I looked the blank metal door up and down, before grasping the key card from Jay. I mustered the courage to finally swipe it through, praying for the light to turn green.

We carefully stepped into the open room, finding a figure sitting on the edge of the bed. He had his head in his head, and I immediately recognized that ruffle of chestnut hair. He looked up at the blinding light pooling from the doorway. "Jim," I managed to get out, all the air suddenly gone from my lungs as a big cavity pressured against my chest.

"Emily," he croaked with a raspy voice. His hazel eyes brimmed with tears.

"You came back for me,"
