23. Something old, something new

"Before I do anything, I wanna know what I'm working with," Steve sighed, obviously regretting his decision to trust Tony. Tony clapped his hands together, "good, now you guys can test your suits, I've made them better," Tony instructed.

The elevator ride was more awkward than I had wished. I was shoved next to Steve the entire time, and the look of disapprobation never left his face. I contained a sigh as the doors finally opened to the training room.

"Ill go first," Ben said with a bubbly tone in his voice. I glimpsed at Lea to see a small smile twinkle on her face.

With a smile now on myself as well, I took a seat in one of the blue designated chairs. Now, according to the order we sat in, next was Jay, Aida, Lea, then me.

Take a wild guess who was sitting to my right.

Steve Rogers.

"Ben Collins aka RazorBlades, 17, male, Enhanced, 5'8," Tony dead panned off a list. Ben fidgeted excitedly, constantly clenching and unclenching his fists.

"Alright Ben, your suit was made to blend in with you blades. So instead of ripping apart when they morphed, they'll be absorbed. Now the entire suit, is made of a movable material metal. Stronger then it looks, I assure you. Things are going to be chucked at you, slice them in half and stop them or your little face will get pelted by who knows what," Tony said, sitting next to Steve.

I heard Steve mumble to Tony, "another enhanced?"

"Yeah, just relax Steve. You're no different than them," Tony cleared his throat to raise his voice, "JARVIS, begin training,"

Ben smirked confidently as the sleeves of his shirt melted into his pale blue blades. Their color was mesmerizing, the glinting mineral was the color of the sky after a quick drizzle from wispy clouds.

Objects began to glide to his face. Tennis balls, fruit, and a few unidentifiable objects. They started out slow, making it easy for Ben to spot them and quickly reduce them to two parts.

But when things began to pick up, the only thing I could make out was a blur.

Ben was prepared though. Before I even noticed an object was there, he had already sliced it.

He began to move faster then the objects, like a tornado of knives. At one point, he balanced on one blade upside down, spinning like a top. He then used it to catapult himself upward, flipping and spin down with arms outstretched.

Nothing made it past his wingspan.

He landed in a crouched position, one arm a hand, and the other still a blade.

I heard Tony whisper, "damn,"

Steve's face was a battle. He was obviously trying to look neutral, but definite awe eminent.

"Well, that's a tough act to follow," Jay sighed, slumping back into his chair.

Ben pridefully marched to his seat, giving Lea a small smile, and blushed when she beamed back.

Tony smirked at Steve, a triumphant mien on his face.

"Jay Rodriguez, aka Bullseye, 17, male, non-enhanced, 5'10," Tony said like before. "Your challenge is to shoot at all the moving targets with as much speed and accuracy, without getting shot yourself. Don't worry, they're holograms, and you have a gun that goes with the program. It feels and shoots like a real gun, but the bullets are holographic," Tony tossed Jay a small device. "Hook this on you. When you get 'shot', it'll beep and give you a jolt of pain as if you had actually gotten hit,"

Jay did a double take, "what the hell Tony?!"

Tony smirked, "think of it as motivation,"

"Motivation my ass," Jay murmured. Steve slightly relaxed as he watched. Tony continued. "If you were shooting with real bullets, you would have some extras in that pocket. You have two holsters for hand guns, and in the other pocket, special bullets. Some temporarily paralyze, some explode, some actually have data chips so that if you shot it at a hardware, it would expand and suck in the data. In that pocket is a silencer for stealth. And in the last pocket, are some bullets I call webs. Click a button on the back of them before loading. When you shoot, it's a line to hold on to with a hook. Basically so you don't end up like Aida's pancakes in the middle of a street," Tony explained.

Jay looked down at his utility belt, "good to know,"

"JARVIS-"

"Already got it, sir,"

The holographs appeared around Jay, and he immediately pulled out his gun. He took out 3 of the holo people immediately, all shots straight through the heart. He was a fiery blaze of rush, taking out 7 more. That's when they began to fire back.

He did cartwheels and flips to evade the oncoming fire. But ran out of bullets when he took out another 7, 4 of them head shots.

"Tony! What, ugh. Do I, damnit. Do now?" He heavily breathed, evading the soaring bullets. "Hand to hand combat! The little device will simulate the feeling of punching someone. The holos respond to your touch," Tony answered, "try not to trip!" He finished.

Jay immediately took his advice. He rolled onto his hands, kicking a holo in the face before landing with a flip.

He hand to hand combatted one holo, punching and dodging their own attacks.

He spun the body in front of him, using it as a shield. And just in time, too.

The second holo fired a shot, which would've landed right in the center of Jay, but instead Hitting his friend.

Before the holograph could even respond, Jay was behind it, reaching for its head and snapping its neck.

"Piece of cake," he muttered sarcastically, breathing heavily.

"Where the hell did you learn to snap necks?" I asked heedfully. "Self defense," he shrugged, plopping down in his chair. Aida widened her eyes, "one hell of a self defense class," she whispered, causing Jay to smirk.

"Aida Gerald, aka Cobra, 16, female, non-enhanced, 5'4,"

Aida rolled her eyes at Jay, "I'll show you how it's done,"

Tony clicked a button, causing an obstacle course to appear. "Aida put these on your wrist. Half way through the obstacle course, your arms will be magnetized together," he explained, and Aida had a skittish look on her face.

"Begin,"

The obstacle course was on a platform. Boards stuck out that she wound have to flip over, squeeze, and dice through. A few buttons or trigger were strategically placed, which would open a door.

Moving platforms, and slippery substance were one of the few inconveniences. But Aida managed.

She immediately began to do uncanny flips over the boards, bending backwards and beyond. If I could only bend like that girl...

She high kicked to reach triggers, and rolled under swinging poles. She was in the middle jump when her hands clamped together. She muttered a profanity, making sure to land on her feet.

Her bound arms did not slow her down, she leaped and swing kicked until an extremely high platform blocked her.

She seemed to ponder with a way to get up. Her face seemed to light up when she figured it out, a smirk on her lips. She parted her hand as much as she could while her wrists were bound. Running towards the rostrum, she took a leap. She wedged the platform edge in between her hands, and vaulted herself upwards.

"She's like a mini Nat," I heard Steve whisper. Tony glanced over at Ben and Jay before chuckling. "Yeah, those guys better watch out,"

Victoriously leaping off the edge of the platform, she spun mid jump and slammed her wrists against the edge.

The metal bands fell off with a sickening snap, in which she just rubbed her wrists.

She walked over to Tony, finishing her obstacle. "They were bothering me," she smiled, handing him the mangled device. Steve was smiling with a raised eyebrow, pleased with the small notch taken off of Tony's ego.

"Yeah well, I gave you one of the lower settings,"

Ego re-inflated.

Aida rolled her eyes, putting a hand on her hip. "So, you never told me. Anything special with my suit?" She asked. "Yup, I'm tony stark of course it would be fantastic. Your fingerless hand gloved hand needles in them. Just clench your fist and insert your middle or index finger into the small incision in the glove by your thumb muscle,"

She did as he instructed, causing four small needles to thrust out of the end of her glove. She chuckled in content. "Refill whatever poison you want into the top. Your utility belt can hold different poisons, different way to inject poison, some devices to use like jays rope gun," he explained as de ruffled through the bags.

"You have one more challenge," he added, gesturing to a table with multiple chemicals. "You have five minutes to create a poison that temporarily paralyzed people. Starting now,"

She ran over in stupefaction. Her hands were a blur while she mixed multi colored chemicals. It felt like a few seconds before she called out done.

"How long?" She questioned, and Lea looked at her watch. "3 minutes,"

Aida smirked to herself as Tony poured it into an analyzer. He quickly got the readings, and smiled. "Congrats, you actually did know what you were doing. Take a seat," Tony said.

"What do you think so far?" I asked Steve, who actually seemed more relaxed around me. "Impressive," he answered honestly, as if captain America could be anything but honest.

"Lea Madison, aka Virus, 16, female, non-enhanced, 5'3 and 6 inches," Tony announced, and Lea stood up.

"What're you throwing my way?" She asked, and Tony replied by clicking a small remote.

"There is a very real bomb hidden in this room. Find it and disarm it within five minutes, before it detonates with a very real explosion,"

A/N
