The Golden Key

Lucy could hear Natsu's protest and the mumbling of a spell. She desperately wished to see what was happening! Was Savina hurting Natsu? Wriggling, she attempted to brake the bonds fastening her to the ceiling. As she squirmed, a quick hand ripped off her blind fold. Light blinded her momentarily as her eyes adjusted. However, her sight was obstructed by a bright emblem. The glowing letter creeped closer, Lucy could not avoid its approach. Attaching to her right eye, she let out a scream. The agony of being branded by a searing hot poker, her eye felt like it was melting.

Natsu watched in horror as Lucy thrashed in torment. Her cries, tore into his heart. The feeling of helplessness ate him alive as blood and tears dripped from her glowing orb. He called out to her, begging for Savina to stop.

Noticing Natsu's rash objections, she came up with a brilliant idea. "Why make you watch, when the imagination is so much broader? Guards!" She called. "Take him to a cell outside, I want to have some fun with this one, alone."

The same spirits that had brought his light back, unlatched his restraints and hauled him away from her.

"No, Lucy! Let me stay with her!" Natsu pleaded, knowing full well that he was showing his weakness. However he couldn't bare the thought of Lucy and that woman isolated together.

Nevertheless, the Witch continued and placed her hand on Lucy's forehead. Officially entering her thoughts. The door slammed behind him, Lucy's yells slightly muffled. He was being dragged away, further from her. The door shrunk as he moved further from her. Natsu desperately fought the spirits holding him back, he needed to save Lucy! To help her, she was in pain! She would be in even more danger once Savina found what she was looking for.

"LUUUUCY!" He roared, as the door faded into the darkness.

When Lucy's mind cleared, she was not where she expected to be. She was looking through her own eyes watching past events play out. Lucy remembered this, she had seen Acnologia for the first time on Tenrou Island. How they had all gotten stuck in the Fairy Sphere for seven years.

The scene morphed, phasing into a different memory. The sky was dark, but the earth was alight as the city burned with rage. Terrified people fled their homes and ran into the forest for cover. An ear splitting howl echoed into the night sky. Dragons flew overhead, wreaking havoc and destroying anything in their path.

Lucy pushed on the heavy door, her magical energy draining quickly from summoning all ten of her Zodiac spirits. Her friends all pressing to close the giant gate. With the help of the last two Zodiac keys, they were able to shut it once and for all.

Satisfied, Savina released her hold on the girl. Her body drooping, she shook violently, recovering from the long torment. Blonde hair hung off her head, bobbing up and down slightly as she gasped for air.

Finally the answer to open the Equinox hate had been answered. This girl was essential ingredient. However, Savina saw that the woman did not close the gate alone. She had help from another Celestial Spirit Mage.

She might need two mages to complete the release of the portal.

Savina raised her knife and sliced into the mages' ribs. The woman whimpered in pain, as Savina collected the fallen blood. The red liquid dripped into the small glass bottle. Swirling around until it formed a new color. Different from any previous colors she had seen. Not red, not blue, but gold. A bright shimmering gold.

Savina gawked at the reaction. She had waited years to find this color! At last she had found the key. The golden key!
This one girl had enough power to open the gates, singlehandedly holding the ability to travel across time.

With a single snap, dark ghosts grew from the shadows and wrapped themselves around the battered woman. They carried her limp body out the door and down the long hall.

The side effect to the Looking Glass already taking its effect, Lucy could barely keep her eyes open. Feeling utterly fatigued, her head pounded and muscles sore from clenched overuse. Every inch of her entire being was screaming, begging not to be moved, blinking was a painful chore. Her right eyeball was on fire and she didn't dare lift her eyelid, the fear of what lay beneath scared her.
