Chapter 5
Your eyes opened slowly and a yawn echoed in your throat. Gentle light filled the room and Frisk's spot on the bed had been abandoned. The savory scent of bacon and sausage filled the air, mixing with the sweeter scents of pancakes. You couldn't help but smile, satisfied by the familiar wakeup. Dragging yourself from the rocking chair, you glanced in the mirror and patted your hair into something somewhat presentable. For a moment you looked at your wound, but quickly covered it with your hat.
After fixing your outfit, you opened the door and trudged down the stairs, floating on the scent of breakfast. As you entered the kitchen, you were greeted to the sight of your three roommates. Papyrus was humming as he worked with a frying pan and Frisk sat at the table, playing with silverware as Sans read a newspaper.
Frisk caught sight of you and smiled, launching up from his seat. "Good morning (Y/N)! You're finally up!"
You nodded then smiled. "Yep, I actually slept last night."
"I bet that's the most sleep you've ever had peacefully."
Chuckling, you shrugged. "Maybe. How'd you sleep?"
"No nightmares." He said happily.
You ruffled his hair. "Well that's good."
He wrapped his arms around you in a hug and you winced slightly, your rib not taking the contact too well. You covered it up with a laugh, which actually made it hurt worse. Covering up broken bones was such a pain.
You caught Sans' eyes on you and your smile fell slightly. He nodded slightly and you relaxed viseably. You took a seat and looked up at Papyrus. "Morning Paps."
"Good morning Kitten! I hope you are prepared for the best breakfast ever!"
Snickering, you sat back in your seat. "Sure. I'll always be ready."
"NYEH heh heh!"
Frisk giggled and you smiled. Your eyes wondered around the kitchen as Frisk messed with his silverware and Papyrus cooked. As you glanced to the side, your eyes met with that of Sans and you jumped slightly.
"Um, is there something you need?" You asked sheepishly.
Sans flushed slightly and returned his gaze to the paper, which he then folded up. "Sorry, just looking." He said.
Raising his head, the usual smile returned to his face. "Papyrus made a list for the grocery run. We'll be at work so you probably won't hear from us till the later hours."
"Okay. Mind telling me what 'work' is?" You asked.
He winked with a sly grin. "Sorry Kitten, that's classified."
You rolled your eyes and looked back at Frisk. "By the way, if you haven't picked up on it yet, we're going to the store today."
Frisk gave you the thumbs up and you returned the gesture. Sizzling bacon fell before you and you squeaked. How is it you didn't notice the giant skeleton holding a frying pan walk up in front of you?
He dumped the treat on to a plate and placed two other plates. One was sausage and eggs, the other a tall stack of pancakes. Frisk immediately dove in, fitting as much as he could on his plate. You snickered and put a pancake on your own plate, accompanied by a few pieces of bacon and a few sausage links. You ate slowly, watching as Frisk horked more and more food.
"You're gonna get sick." You chimed, biting into a piece of sausage.
Frisk just grunted in response, too busy stuffing his face to use English. Sans seemed amused by this and Papyrus was overjoyed. "Wow human! You really do like my cooking don't you?!"
"Well it's better than anything he's ever had before a few days ago..."
"What was that Kitten?"
You looked up to find Papyrus looking at you. "Nothing! I just said it's better than anything I've ever had."
His eyes lit up and you relaxed. Sans glanced at his watch and he chuckled. "Sorry, we'll have to cut this short. Me and Pap are gonna be late at this rate."
He stood and grabbed his plate, walking around the table and scraping the remaining bits of food into the trash can. Papyrus followed him and placed his plate in the sink. Sans glanced back at you and tossed you a list. "These are the neccesites but if there's enough feel free to grab something for yourself."
"Okay."
With that, the two left. Frisk looked at you and raised a brow. "We're going to the store?"
You nodded. "It's a favor for Sans, since we don't exactly have something to do all day." You fibbed.
You shoved the rest of the food in your mouth and picked up your plate, placing it in the sink with the others. Your eyes glazed over the list and you opened the cookie jar, retrieving the wad of cash it held. Frisk finished the rest of the food out and brought me his plate because he couldn't reach the sink. You put it away for him and walked up to your room with him. Slipping on your shoes, you helped him with his own and you stuffed both the cash and the list in your pockets.
"Come on Frisk. Let's go get this shopping done." You smiled.
You jogged downstairs and opened the door for him. As soon as he was out, you closed the door. You didn't have a key to lock the door, but you brushed it off. Who would want to rob the Skelebros?
Frisk clasped on to your hand as you walked to the nearest market. On the outside, it looked beat-up and out of shape. However, on the inside, it was actually quite decent. You grabbed a small basket and gave the list to Frisk. Monsters' eyes followed you as you walked, but Frisk stuck close by and you were prepared to fight if it came it, even with your injuries.
The list was mostly the usual: milk, bread, eggs, etc. You filled the basket and looked down at Frisk. "I think that's all." You said.
Frisk shook his head and you raised a brow. His hand clasped around yours once again and he pulled you along. You followed him, the ghost of a smile on your face. "What're you looking for?" You asked.
"Just come on!" He said.
A minute later, he pulled me into an aisle and turned, smiling. You looked up and down the aisle, only seeing soup and spices. "What?" You asked. "You want soup?"
"Nnnoooooo!!"
He pointed to a small hanging display and you realized what he meant. Like in most stores, there were small hanging displays that offered small little items for sale. This on in particular held a chain of different beanie babies. "Oh, you want a stuffed animal!" You mused.
You glanced at the wad of cash and shrugged. "We can probably afford it."
His smile widened. You walked over to the toys and looked around them. "Which one do you want?" You asked.
He walked around it and hummed, like this would affect the rest of his life's outcome. After considering a moment, he snatched one and hugged it to his chest. You glanced at it and snickered.
"I should've guessed."
In his arms, he held a small, brown and white puppy. You rolled your eyes and grabbed his hands. "Come on, let's go to checkout."
"What about you?" Frisk asked.
"What about me?"
"Don't you want anything?" He asked.
You shrugged. "Nah, I'm not really interested in anything."
Frisk furrowed his brow. "I swear (Y/N), I'm going to make you more selfish if it's the last thing I do."
You smirked. "Good luck with that. I'm just to dastardly giving."
He elbowed you and you snickered. You led him to the checkout and stood, basket slung over your arm while you kept a close eye on Frisk. Your money sat in your hands as you tried to estimate the cost of the groceries plus Frisk's toy. Frisk was already playing with his toy in an adorable manner.
The line moved up, putting you one spot away from the checkout. You felt a hand land on your shoulder and you lifted your head, looking curiously around you. Before you stood a monster with red, scaly flesh. His fingers were like gnarled, overgrown claws covered in a clear coat of nail polish. Black horns curled from his head. On him he wore simple clothing: jeans, a white shirt and a leather jackey. It was like a demon that was obsessed with the greaser look. He smiled slyly, yellowish fangs glinting in his mouth.
"Hey there young thing. I haven't seen a human around these parts before." He purred, cutting you off in front of you by leaning against the moving belt for groceries.
The cashier seemed too preoccupied with bagging the items to notice your dilemma. Sighing internally, you met his gaze and stopped fiddling with your money, stuffing it in your pockets. Frisk noticed the sudden atmosphere changed and hid behind you, watching as you attempted not to rage at him. Everything about this spelled trouble, and you were in no mood for that.
"Congratulations, you've seen a human." You said flatly, remaining monotone. "Would you please move now?"
He smirked, leaning closer to you. "Oh come now little miss human, aren't you any fun? I've never tasted a human before... I wonder..."
"Google it. I'm sure you find a descriptive review somewhere."
He chuckled darkly, his face mere inches from yours. You stood your ground, not breaking eye contact. His hands shifted closer and closer to you, your muscles tensing more and more as he tried to grew nearer and nearer.
"Come on princess, we both know that not what I mean." He purred.
Your hand moved quickly and you shoved him back.
"If you're implying you want to fuck me, then no. If you're a monster that literally eats living people, then hell no. I'm not interested in either." You said sharply.
"It's actually a little bit of both sweetheart." He chirped. "But of course, if you don't want to, I could always find another human. I'm sure there's one near by."
"Good luck with that." You mused sarcastically.
"Oh I don't need luck." He muttered.
His hands moved quickly and red filled your vision as wings ripped his jacket. The cashier shrieked and the other customers dropped down. A shrill cry filled the air and a stuffed dog fell to the ground. Your eyes widened as you watched him snatch Frisk from behind you, caging him in an iron grip with a devious cackle.
"Oh Asgore is gonna love this!" He hollered. "Catch me if you can!"
Your vision darkened and you only saw your target. Frisk panicked, looking a you with fear. "(Y/N) HELP!"
His wings flapped and his feet left the ground. The basket fell and your throat released a deep growl. "Let. Him. Go." You hissed.
He cackled, turning his back to you. His body launched away at amazing speed, but with your determination, you kept up well. He tried to lift off but you caught his ankle. A cry escaped him as your nails bypassed his scales, rust-red trickling down along your arm.
Your feet left the ground and everything started to go numb. The pain of your rib dulled and your hat blew away, landing somewhere in the parking lot of the store. You kept a firm grip, dangling from his leg as he tried to kick you off.
"Let go you crazy bitch!" He snarled. "My boss will kill you!"
"If you hurt Frisk, I'll kill you. I'll kill your boss. I'll kill everyone you care about."
You were proud Frisk hadn't cracked under these circumstances, but you kinda wished he would. 'They' would be very helpful about now.
You approached a secluded looking building with larger stained glass windows. The monsters body raced towards the window and dangerous speeds and you knew he'd try to injure you by breaking the window. It was even worse than that even. His leg swung sharply, flinging you at the window ahead of him. He was smarter than he let on.
Your body propelled through the glass, shattering and lodging shards into your flesh. A hissing scream rang in your ears as you glanced down. The fall was at least three stories to the ground, and your flesh made you look like a voodoo doll. His grasp wrapped around your arm, digging glass even deeper into your limb as Frisk cried out your name.
You were dropped again, rolling in front of a large, cushy chair that face away from you. Vaguely familiar voices echoed from the side you couldn't see, but your mind sank in and out of consiousness. You could feel hands groping at you and touching you, but white noise filled your ears. Your eyes were shut, leaving you only a few words here and there.
"Asgore!.... humans..."
"....lord... hurt... her..."
"S..... help.... dying... glass..."
"... Went too far..."
"Hold on Kitten..."
You should've known. Even simple punishments like shopping, would have the worst turns.
