Chapter 17
Everything slowed. Your breath was sucked from your lungs as you saw through the slots in the balcony railing. Monsters flowed into the ballroom. Every window and door was blocked as the people I'd grown to love. The hecklers that cherished your demise now wept as guns turned cocktails into shot with mean precision.
David pushed himself off of you and gazed drunkenly at the intruders. "Dammit..." he slurred, saliva dripping from his mouth. You tried not to laugh, tears of joy and fear in your eyes. You didn't know how to feel. You knew these monsters, they came to save you. But it was too dangerous. In moments, the private force would arrive and kill without predjudice. Dust would be spilled.
You cried out as David grabbed you by the hair and pulled you up. You stood, wobbling in pain as your torn gown threatened to slip away. "Come on you piece of shit! We're leaving!" He ordered, throwing you ahead of him. For a split moment you hesitated, one hand holding up your dress.
I could take him out. He's drunk. He's scared. I could escape, I could-
A deafening boom, then your ears rang. You were in pain. You lifted your hand, fingertips brushing your shoulder then pulling away. Red decorated your ashen fingertips. The cold barrel of a gun pressed against your skull. You felt numb, then fiery pain began to consume you. Your shoulder bled profusely as you screamed.
You wanted to collapse but David kept his free hand wrapped around your waist. The gun rested over your temple. "If I can't have you." He whispered, "No one can."
You shook, gripping your damaged flesh and biting back rivers of tears. You took a step forward, then another. Gunshots deafened your ears but you were hyperaware of the cold ring leaving an imprint against your head. You wanted to pray, but had no one to listen to your weak plees. You left alone as you marched towards your bad ending.

"Everyone move in!" I ordered, watching as my crew began shattering windows. They flooded into the building, shards littering the ground. I ran through the halls, my soul pulsating in fear as a symphony of fear rang through the air. Aristocrats squealed like hogs as we did property damage. But I couldn't hear her. I couldn't see her. Where is she?
"S-Sir..." A small voice croaked, quiet tone barely catching my attention.
It was one of the maid, her uniform cloaked in a stained, fraying apron. She had dark skin and green eyes, her stature seeming sheepish. "You're Sans, aren't you?" She asked.
I stopped, nodding shortly. "Yeah. What of it?"
She smiled, grabbing my wrist. "You're the one! You and Frisk! She told us so much!" She chirped happily. "My name is Destiny. (Y/N) talks about you often!"
"Kitten?" I gasped, suddenly grabbing the girl. "Tell me! Do you know where she is?!"
She nodded. "Yes! Mr. David has her performing, so she must be on the balcony! Follow me!"
Destiny raced ahead of me, running through the winding corrdiors and leading me farther up. As we raced, I could hear screaming. Not the vague squeal of pitiful pigs, but her scream. My eye instantly flaired to life, magic waving off my palms. We shuddered to a stop before the balcony. I swept the area, but couldn't find anything other than torn shreds of a dress. I grit my teeth together when a another shriek ripped through the air. My eyes darted behind me, a dotted trail of crimson dots giving me my lead.
Destiny was left behind as I ran at inhumane speeds. I had to find her. I had to save her.

You limped along silently, tears making your face wet as you naivigated the winding halls with a pyschopath. Your arm throbbed, but you were so focused on the gun to your temple you forgot about the pain.
The doors started to thin, growing fewer in number until the only one you saw was at the end of a long, narrow hallway. David pushed you faster, frustrated as you struggled with your limp. "Faster slut!" He ordered, jabbing his arm into your side.
You screamed out instinctively, grabbing your side as a rib snapped. A knee buckled and you crumbled to your knees. Your hand reached for the wall to steady yourself. "Dammit! Get up!" David roared, grabbing a chunk of your hair and ripping at it.
You shrieked, squeezing your eyes shut. You grit your teeth and tried to stand, but your aching body protested. You already felt weak, after you fell it was hopeless. "I told you to get up! Do you want to die?!" David hissed, rearing his leg back.
Your eyes opened your eyes as he began to swing his knee forward. Cold washed over you as your hands flew before your face. Your head was held immobile at the scalp. First your hands, then your head, then the wall. The impact shook you and blood gushed from your face. Your nose bled, the blood painting your pale cheeks red before joining the blood you coughed. You folded in on yourself and held your gut.
Your hands trembled, but you were too numb to fear. Your breath was jagged and rough. Your eyes were wide as your thoughts swam. You felt almost empty, the only emotion like a black hole sitting within your chest, choking rationality.
Your face snapped to the side as David's fist crashed against you. Again and again, your face was bloodied and bruised. And then it stopped. You could feel it as your hand curled around his fist and stopped it with a shutter. Closing your free hand in a tight ball you swung your hand backwards and snapped forward, crashing into David's nose and knocking him on his ass.
Your left hand tore at his collar, immobolizing him as you kept swinging, punch after punch until he finally got enough leverage to shove you off. Your back hit the ground and David hovered over you, his legs straddling you so you couldn't stand and one hand clasped tightly around your neck. You clawed at your throat desperately, trying to free yourself but only failing. You could see the gun in his hand and he pressed it to your forehead without hesitation.
"Fine! If you love the thought of dying so much, why don't I just send you to hell?!" He cackled.
His eyes were wide, pupils mere pinpricks a sloely the trigger tightened under his finger. Insanity screamed through his gnarled grin, bloody plumps and missing chunk of teeth falling on to your face.
You didn't break eye contact as you spoke, the words barely a whispered but still clearly audible. "Meet you there fucker." You bit, nails scraping away layers of skin from his wrist.
You could hear the gunshot, then a split second of pain, before your vision went dark. Your ears rang painfully, but you were happy to feel David's weight finally disappear. More blood splattered against your face, but you didn't care.
It was finally over.
You opened your eyes.
It was the same hallway, narrow and now blood covered. Ruby still smudged over your face, you looked like a phantom as you sat limp in the hall. You wanted to turned your head, to look around but you couldn't control your body.
You could hear sporatic footsteps, growing closer and closer before finally you were able to see him. The same blue tie and vest. His fedora hung lazily but his exression seemed worried and fearful. Your fingers tingled, but you couldn't move. Your eyes were set on him as he knelt over you. He set his gun down, the barrel still smoking.
"Kitten!" He whispered, voice almost too weak. "Kitten get up! You gotta get up for me. We have to go." He pled. "Kitten you gotta get up. Quit joking around."
You tried to move, but you could barely twitch a finger. He held your hand in his lowering his head to listen to your chest. "Come on Kitten keep fighting. Just get up. Look at me. Show me you're okay."
You tried to speak, but the hushed gasp was too quiet. You could see blue luminescent tears in his eyes as he looked at you. He bowed his head, touching it to your hand and whispered. "(Y/N) please... get up for me..."
Your heart jumped when he said your name. Not Kitten as you'd grown to be known and mocked by, but your actual, real name. The only part of your life that had always been the same. He called out for you.
"Sans..." You muttered, trying to suppress a choked cough. "Sans it really hurts."
Tears ran down your face and you swallowed a sob as you looked at him. His head darted up and his eyes met yours. You tried to smile but you began to sob. Your body throbbed with pain. Your clothes were torn and destroyed. You felt ugly and unsafe but when Sans got there, you finally felt a spark of happiness. A spark of hope.
He smiled shakily, lifting you up so you sat and wrapped his arms around you. Warmth raced through you and a dam of emotions you held back flooded through you. You clung to Sans desperately, hands knotted his vest as you tried to hold him closer.
"You came for me." You sobbed. "Even if I told you not to."
"I wasn't about to leave you behind." Sans assured, letting you hold him. "I'm going to give up someone I love so easily."
Your heart thumped loudly in your chest and you laughed. "Sans I want to go home." You said, burying your face into his neck.
Sans chuckled, removing his fedora and placing it on your head. "Yeah, let's go home (Y/N)."
Blue light blinded you and you sat in a hospital. A monster that looked like a dinosaur stood at the ready, startled by your sudden arrival, but instantly going to work. Sans set you down in a bed and the monster went to work. He opened a radio and told eveyone to retreat. "Wait, Sans..." you whispered, eyes feeling heavy. "Save the others... the other girls... I want... to free them..."
He looked back at you a moment, then smiled. "Squads A and C, get the other slaves out of there and bring them back. No one's getting left behind."
You smiled weakly and put your head back. Your head swirled with thoughts and a headache made even opening your eyes painful. You let them close and rested your head. Sans still stood by your side.
Everyone was on their way back. Your friends. Your colleagues. Everyone was going to come back. You finally felt free. Finally, your nightmares would have a happy ending. Your chains were cut and now, you took your friends by the hands and ran into a new tomorrow. Frisk and Papyrus. Toriel and Undyne. Asgore and Mettaton. Everyone. Especially him.
Especially Sans.
He saved you. He brought you home and continued to stay by your side. He led the mission to liberate you from your past. You loved him. You loved Sans. Your heart throbbed but darkness weighed your eyes and you soon fell asleep, bending to the will of nature as your body reset for a new future.
I almost felt like a dream.
