Part 8
Parseltongue- Harry speaking ; snakes speaking
'mind talking/ communicating'
**************
The next morning, Harry and his roommates were woken up when Draco's rather annoying alarm clock went off 6 in the morning. The other 2 boys were glaring daggers at him, but Draco seemed unaffected, and simply said,
"Don't blame me that my hair takes a long time to be perfect. Besides, it is healthy to get up early in the morn- eep!" Draco quickly scurried away when Harry threw a pillow at him and started glaring at him. Who knew the small, innocent boy could look so scary. Draco was definitely going to have nightmares about it. The other two were amused yet scared at the same time, and decided it would not do them good to get on the raven's bad side.
Harry just shook his head and suppressed a smile. Truth be told, Harry had been awake since 5 in the morning, and spent the next hour going through his books. Sicily had gone off to explore the castle and to catch prey. He was already ready in his robes by the time Blaise and Theo came out, and when Draco joined them the 4 boys went down to breakfast. Seeing Hermione already there, him and a reluctant Draco went to sit with at the Ravenclaw table.
"Good morning, Hermione. Mind if we sit here?" Harry asked.
"Morning. Take a seat," Hermione replied. This brought stares and whispers among the other tables. But Harry ignored it, and started piling a bit of food into his plate. After a few minutes, Neville and the Weasley twins joined them. This brought even more stares, yet the group ignored them.
"So firsties, enjoying the school so far?" Fred asked.
"Ask me that at the end of the day," Harry replied nonchalantly. Just then, all the head of the houses came over and handed the specific student their schedule.
"Hmm... Seems like we have Potions with the Gryffindors first,"Draco said.
"I've got Herbology first," Neville said.
"Wait a minute," Hermione suddenly snatched the boy's schedules from their hands. She laid them in front of her and compared them. "The only class we have together are flying lessons! And that is on Friday!" she groaned. Harry simply patted her back.
"At least we will see each other at meal times," George reminder her. Just then, Scabbers/Wormtail entered the hall and ran over to Harry. The boy picked him up and began caressing his fur.
"Um, when you guys left the train compartment, did you see old parchment wrapped in many layers?" Fred asked. The younger years looked at each other and shook their heads.
"Thanks anyway," George said glumly.
"What's so important about it anyway?" Neville asked.
"Oh! Um, it was for a project we were going to do," Fred said quickly.
George added, "Yeah, and it took us a long time to find it." They others looked skeptical, but nodded their heads.
"That reminds me. Fred and George, I would like to speak to you after we finish breakfast." The twins looked at each other and shrugged.
"Sure," they said. After a few mouthfuls, Harry felt like he couldn't eat anymore. He pushed his plate away just as Hedwig came and landed on his shoulder.
"Hey girl," he said, scratching her head. She hooted and jumped down next to his plate.
'Why aren't you eating?' Turned out Hedwig could also mind communicate with Harry.
Harry sighed. 'My relatives didn't feed me often. My stomach shrunk because of it. If I eat too much I will throw up.' Hedwig nuzzled into Harry's hand and started eating some grapes.
"Why aren't you eating, Harry?" Hermione asked. Harry and Hedwig looked at each other. If owls could smile, she would definitely be smiling right now.
"I not hungry," he said. Wormtail and Draco gave him a look but he ignored it. The twins got up and left, saying they will be near the dungeons waiting for him. After Hedwig left, Harry picked up the rat and left to find the twins. As they said, they were at the dungeons entrance. As he was nearing them, he heard a bit of their conversation.
"It has to be here somewhere," Fred was saying.
"Reckon we left it on the train?" George asked.
Fred groaned. "Then it is lost."
"Hey guys." Fred and George jumped a mile.
"Harry! You bloody scared us!" they said at the same time. Harry simply took out the Marauders Map from his pocket.
"I believe you were looking for this." He handed the map to Fred.
"Umm... Thank you?" George said, suspicion in his voice.
"Take good care of it. You wouldn't want to disappoint Moony, Padfoot, Prongs and Wormtail by losing the Marauders Map, would you?" Harry quickly descended the stairs before the twins could say anything. As soon as he was out of sight, his turned into one of the empty rooms and put Wormtail on the floor. He went to sit on a desk near the door and crossed his arms.
"Change." Harry watched as the rat shifted. It grew taller and wider, finally ending to take the form of his Uncle Peter. He looked awful. He still had some appearances of a rat, but that didn't matter to Harry.
"What happened to you?" Harry asked. Peter sighed, and started explaining. All the time Harry didn't make a sound, his expression blank. When he finished, Harry asked,
"How do I know you are telling the truth?"
Peter winced, but said, "I can show you my memories, or you can use a truth potion on me. I swear that I really didn't mean for that to happen. Please believe me." A few minutes of silence stretched on. Finally, he flung himself at his uncle, wrapping his arms around him. Peter hesitantly hugged back, with equal force.
"I missed you," the boy whispered, clinging on tighter. Peter kissed the boy's forehead. After a few minutes both let go.
"I better go now. Class is starting in less than 5 minutes." Peter transformed back into a rat, and Harry picked him up and slipped out, heading for potions.
