Chapter Five - Help

You woke up and you were hot. It wasn't comforting like the warmth that had enveloped you the last time you woke up, no, it was stifling and made you want to bolt. You squirmed, head turning to find yourself face to face with a stirring dog hybrid.

The dog hybrid.

The one from earlier, that had tried to attack you. Your heart rate picked up immediately, breathing cut off for a moment before coming as hard and fast as ever. Your legs kicked at the dog hybrid's own, throwing them off from being wrapped around you. You used them to push yourself backwards, hearing a thud before the mass behind you was no longer there. You fell off of the bed as well, landing on top of the person who had been behind you.

Yoongi.

Yoongi, the one who had pet you, kept you pleasantly warm, bathed you, brushed your hair, and kept that dog hybrid from getting to you. You felt his hands on your waist, trying to pull you against him but your skin felt like it was burning at the slightest touches, and you let out a choked sob before moving to the only place that was accessible. Under the bed.

You liked the darkness, it let you hide. It wrapped you up in itself and didn't let anybody hurt you. You curled up in it, let it conceal you. The light meant people. The light meant unwanted touches and socialization. The darkness meant safety, and cold. The cold wasn't as good as the warmth, but it was safe.

Taehyung was doubled over on the bed, clutching at his thighs where you'd kicked at them. You kicked hard  for someone with no meat on their bones.

Yoongi tried peering under the bed, but he was unable to see anything but darkness. Your strategy of making yourself as small as possible had clearly paid off.

Taehyung finally recovered from your kick, scrambling to join Yoongi on the floor in search of your emaciated form. You jerked back in fear, flattening yourself against the wall even further when Taehyung swept a hand underneath the bed and just barely missed your tail. You tucked it between your legs, ducking your head to rest between your knees as you felt hot tears begin to spill down your cheeks.

You heard Yoongi swear, then you saw the shadow from his crouched form leave the floor. You watched as he pulled Taehyung up as well, leading the dog hybrid out of the room and shutting the door behind him. You were able to breathe a tiny bit easier, although now you were scared of the other hybrids coming in and being mad at you for hiding. That's what always happened when you hid from people. They got angry.

You heard four sets of footsteps run up the stairs, and felt your heart start to race. Your breathing quickened even more, painful now as your chest felt like it was going to burst. You flinched as the door flew open, hitting the door with a loud bang. Equally loud, however, was the sound of someone's knees hitting the floor, another face shoved into the crack between the floor and the edge of the bed.

It was the tiger.

You let out a soft sob, burying your face deeper into your knees to avoid his eyes. You definitely couldn't risk eye contact now. You heard a whine, felt a hand brush your ankle. You let out a scream, skittering farther back until you were pressed up into a corner. The bed was against two walls, and this gave you an advantage in your current position: one less side for them to try and catch you from.

Your lungs finally gave out and you succumbed to your sobs, letting them rack your body until you were shaking like a leaf beneath the bed. In your state of panic your other senses were heightened and you smelled the distinct smell of a wolf. Great. That didn't help much.

You were just a fox, and you were up against a wolf and a tiger. You didn't stand a chance.

"Jimin, can you see?"

"Yeah, I touched 'em for a second, but then they moved. I dunno how we can reach now. We might have to move the bed."

You cursed the fact that tigers have better vision in the dark than dogs or wolves did. You wished that Yoongi had just let you die.

"No, I don't think we should move the bed. That might scare them. I don't want them to feel like they're being hunted. I want them to come out on their own accord. Jimin, you're the only one that can see them, right?"

"Mhm," You heard the tigers affirmation, squirming uncomfortably in your position. The dread pooling in your stomach was enough to send your head spinning, and you just wanted to get away from this hell. You wanted to go home, but there was no home. You didn't have one.

"Okay. Well, you're the only one that has a chance of luring them out, then. If we can't see we have no idea what's going on. I don't think they like being crowded in like this, so Jin, Yoongi, and I will wait downstairs with the rest of the boys. If you need help, of course, call one of us. But make sure they don't leave the room. I don't want them roaming, they might get hurt."

"Okay Namjoon. But what if they get hungry?"

"I'll bring up a plate of the fruits that they liked. Thanks Jimin." You heard Seokjin's voice, thought about how kind he had been towards you, but then remembered that you had already caused them so much trouble, why would he be nice to you again?

You heard three of the pairs of footsteps recede until they were through the door, the soft sound of the door clicking shut amplified in your mind as the sound of your only exit sealing. You felt the tears begin to flow again but heard a strangled whine from Jimin, saw a tiny hand plant itself directly beside your own hand, just barely separate from yours. It was placed face up, clearly an invitation, but it was an invitation that you chose not to take. You kept your eyes shut tight, head pounding from the panic and tension that came from your situation. You heard another soft whimper, felt the hand softly graze your arm, and heard a tiny whisper.

"Y/N, please don't be afraid. I won't hurt you, I'm here to help. Just let me help you, please."
