Confronting an Enemy
Thorin's POV
I gingerly took the box from her. It felt very light for something so important. "Now, you say that you are to face evil. Perhaps you could elaborate?" She took a deep breath and answered, "There is a woman, we call her the Wicked Witch. She has been after me for some time and her magic is much more powerful than mine. I have a plan to stop her now which I expect to take care of tomorrow." I sat back in my chair, looking intently at her face as she spoke. I was not certain I believed her, but I fought to keep my temper in check.
"Very well. I shall keep your possession safe and you have my warriors on your side should you need them." Her eyes closed for moment and her face almost looked pained. "Thank you. Bifur, Gloin and Bilbo shall be returning tomorrow morning. Then I have a witch to confront." I stared at her. I knew that Bifur and Gloin had not been gone long enough to get anywhere other than Dale. "Do you know where they are?" She blushed and looked away sheepishly. "Bifur and Gloin are in Mirkwood and Bilbo is in Dale," she whispered. "They could not have made it to Mirkwood and back in so little time," I stated plainly, remembering what Balin had said about the treaty.
The smirk on her face was evident when she looked back up at me. I had to admit that it was attractive. I wondered what it would be like to kiss her. "Magic, Your Majesty," was the answer I got. "If you'll excuse me, Your Majesty. I still have some things to work out before tomorrow." She stood and left the study. I looked at the box I still held in my hands and wondered what it contained. The woman, Y/N, really had not given me a straight answer. I suppose she did not want me to know what was in the box at least not yet. As curious as I was, I decided to respect her privacy.
Your POV
I hoped that Thorin did not try to open my box. I'd learned a protection spell from my mother's journal and placed it on the box. If anyone other than me tried to open it, they'd get hurt. I was extremely nervous. I was ready to face the witch, but would I be able to stop her? I didn't know, but I was hopeful. I had to save Thorin and everyone else in the mountain. They were my family now and I knew I'd do anything to save them. I crawled into bed and had a night of restless sleep. Every possible scenario ran through my head. If I failed, what would happen to them?
When I awoke the next morning, I had a newfound determination. This was the day that I would put a stop to Zelena's plans. I got up and dressed. I decided against a dress yet again in favor of my trousers and tunic. I had to admit, I felt comfortable and ten times as powerful in them. I was too nervous to eat breakfast so I made my way to the ballroom. Once I was there, I summoned Bifur, Gloin and Thranduil from Mirkwood as well as Bilbo and Bard from Dale. "Y/N!" Bilbo cried, wrapping his arms around my middle. "Hello, my friend. Your Majesties."
Thranduil kissed my hand and Bard followed suit. "I am sorry to hear about Thorin," Bard said sincerely. I nodded and turned to Thranduil. "He does not remember the treaty, although Balin did explain it to him. He may not take kindly to you being here." The Elvenking squared his shoulders. "I can handle myself." I smiled sadly. "I know you can, but you won't need to. I have swore to protect my family, and that includes you. Bifur, can you go get the others? They should be at breakfast." The thing about Bifur was that he didn't speak in what Middle Earth called "The Common Tongue." He had an ax embedded in his head and he could only speak stunted Khuzdul.
He left the room and I turned back to the others. "Thranduil, I asked you to come because she has taken your heart once and I am certain you want to see her dealt with. Bard, I asked you to come so we can show that these three kingdoms are united and will face foes together. Can we do that?" I received bows from both kings and I smiled. "Thank you both." They smiled at me and Bilbo spoke quietly saying, "This is why you will make a fine queen, Y/N."
The company joined us in the ballroom a few moments later. As I suspected, Thorin was furious upon seeing Thranduil, but Balin held him back by whispering something in his ear. Taking a deep breath, I turned to my family. "Thanks for coming, fellas. I'm stopping the witch today and I needed you here." They all nodded and smiled, except Thorin of course. I called out to the Wicked Witch. In a cloud of magic, Zelena appeared. "Hello, dear." Thorin had his hand on his sword. I motioned to him not to draw it. Dwalin put a hand on his shoulder to steady him.
"What happened to you, Zelena?" Zelena scoffed and said, "Now now dear, don't get all sentimental on me. Have you decided what to do?" I scowled at her, knowing my answer full well, but I was determined to be strong. "I have. You win, Zelena." From all around me, I heard mixed shouts of "No!" and "You can't!" from the company and the kings. "I can and I will. It is my decision. I love you all and I will not let her hurt you anymore!" I took a step toward Zelena and prepared for whatever was coming. Without a moment's hesitation, she shoved her hand into my chest.
Thorin's POV
I stood in shock as this green skinned woman thrust her hand into Y/N's chest. Sweet Mahal! I went to rush forward, but Dwalin stopped me shaking his head. Suddenly, the strange woman frowned as a smirk appeared on Y/N's face. "Did you really think I'd be so stupid and give up so easily?" Y/N pulled the witch's hand from her chest and with a wave, a small object that looked like a cuff was in her other hand. She slapped it onto the witch's wrist. The witch waved her arms but nothing happened.
Your POV
I smirked as Rumplestiltskin's little toy worked. "Your powers no longer work. Now tell me what you did to me and to Thorin!" She grimaced as she attempted to remove the cuff to no avail. "That's simple dear. I gave you a little sleeping draught and him a sleeping curse. Also a little curse so he'd forget the first person he saw when he woke." I looked back at Thorin, who looked both angry and confused. I pushed Zelena toward Thranduil and walked over to Thorin.
"Your Majesty, I need my box now, please." Thorin looked at me bewildered but nodded slightly and left. "Fix it, Zelena!" She laughed at me. "I can't, dear. Only you can." I felt my brows furrow as I fell deep in thought. I wondered what she could have meant by that. Then I remembered one of the biggest stories from the Enchanted Forest.
Prince Charming rode as quickly as he could to where he would find the woman he loved. The ring enchanted with a locator spell glowed more and more bright the closer he got. When he finally reached her, he found her in a glass coffin surrounded by her dwarf friends. "You're too late," Doc said as Prince Charming approached the coffin. He looked at them with tears in his eyes."At least let me say good-bye." The dwarves agreed and removed the lid. The prince leaned down and pressed his lips to his princess' cold ones. With a gasp, the princess opened her eyes. "You found me," Snow said. The spell was broken all thanks to...
"True love's kiss," I whispered. The company all looked at me. I told them the story of Snow White and Prince Charming. "Any curse can be broken with true love's kiss." "Well that's easy then." I scoffed. "Easier said than done, Kili. Thorin doesn't trust me or like me enough to even let me get close to him let alone kiss him!" I cried exasperatedly, nearing tears. Dwalin came up to me. "Don't you worry about that lass." Bilbo looked up at me. "Um...Y/N? Where is your, um-?"
"My heart?" They all nodded. "In a safe place," was all I said before Thorin returned with my box in hand. "Thank you, Thorin." I opened the box and sighed in relief. "Is that what I think it is?" He asked me and I nodded. Ori and Kili both looked like they were about ready to faint. I pulled my heart from the box and handed it to Thorin. "Why?" was all he asked, but I knew what he meant. "Who better to trust with my heart? I need you to, uh, put it back now though," I said letting out a nervous chuckle.
