CHAPTER EIGHT

Temmy dropped her phone on the bedside drawer and picked up her buds for her nightly routine.

“This woman, who just called you?” Damola asked as he settled into bed pulling the duvet closer to his chest.

“This man, have you realized that I am a happily married woman, and people that work with me know that?”

“How lucky you are, your husband must be treating you well.”

“He tries,” She shrugged

“Temilade Makinwa, I try abi I am doing a very good job?”

“As if I don’t reciprocate,” she sneered still wiping her face.

“I love you, baby. Thanks for bringing sunshine into my life.”

“You know I love you more,” She winked at him

“Come to bed now, I don’t care what you look like.”

“Hmm, I know what you care about.”

Damola just smiled and move to her side of the bed.

“Ade mi, I have some emails to send.”

He continued to caress her, then starts kissing her neck.

“We have some issues with logistics for the event I have this week… hmm,”  she groaned when his lips hit the spot behind her ears.

“What were you saying?” Her husband teased.

She stood up from his side and moved away from the distraction of his lips.

“I have work, give me a few minutes.”

Damola smiled and leaned back in bed to watch her.

“Speaking of work, I got a call from Freda about some investments. She is trying to woo me with some packages.”

“Oh! She told me. I am thinking of putting in some money myself,”

“My wife is a billionaire.”

“Leave me joor. I wanted to discuss that with you anyway.”

“I told her I’ll talk to some of my friends for her, they need investors.”

“Aww, that’s why I love you.”

“Can I get some sugar now?” He teased his wife

Temmy gently pulled off her robe to reveal one of her husband’s favorite negligee.

“I can’t believe this is all mine,” he said as his wife crawled into bed beside him.

“Maybe tonight is the night I’ll put another baby in there.”

“Hmm hmm, ”

“Wait! Speaking of babies,” she said suddenly. “Did Toye ever say anything about Bukola being pregnant?”

“No, is she?”

“I should be asking you. He is your friend.”

“He never said anything like that. I am sure he would have told me. But really females know these things. Is she pregnant?”

“I am not talking about now. I mean  years ago.”

“You are funny, if she was pregnant she should have had the baby by now.”

“That’s the thing. She told Freda she was pregnant for Toye.”

“What?” Damola sat up straight on the bed.

Temmy shrugged. “Maybe she lost the pregnancy.”

“What are you saying? Toye started dating Bukola when Freda left.”

“How do you know? Guys can be funny.”

“I am a guy you know, and the guy in question is my friend.

Fine! He was all over the place before Freda but he stopped when he got serious with her.”

“Now, I am confused. I don’t even want to rack my brain and start thinking about things. Maybe we should just leave everything in the past like Freda said,” She waved off.

“Level up with me honey. If there’s anything Freda told you, let’s discuss it.”

“I think that is Freda's place. I don’t want to dredge up what she wants gone.”

“She is back in Lagos, isn’t it better for them to clear the air. They are our friends and there is a probability that they'll meet.”

“I don’t think Freda is ready for that.”

“I can arrange something.”

“Hmm master planner, why not leave them to decide on that.”

“They need to clear the air, Toye is getting married but is not fully into it. I think it has to do with what happened in the past.”

“I am worried about Freda too,” Temmy sighed.

“Baby talk to me if there is anything Freda told you.”

“I wish I could honey, but until she is ready to tell her story, there’s nothing I can do.”

“Your loyalty scares me. Anyway, I am happy you are in my corner.”

“Can we get back to what we were doing? Temmy said pulling off a strap of her nightwear.

“That’s what I am talking about,” Damola said rubbing his hands together and licking his lips in anticipation.

***********

Meanwhile, Toye was in his apartment trying to convince his fiancee that he was with her all the way.

“You keep saying this but you don’t want to choose a date for the wedding. Is there any other girl you are seeing?”

“I told you that there is nobody. I just need to put some stuff together.”

“What is the stuff, Toye? I know it is not money.”

“Like I said, stuff.”

“Don’t you want to marry me again?”

“Bukola please don’t start. You wanted an introduction, I have given you one. That should count for something.”

“The wedding is the main deal. I am down for whatever you want. Just pick a date and let’s get it over with. Don’t you want me in your house?”

“You are already here,” he huffed.

“Maybe that’s the problem, you are getting milk without buying the cow.”

Toye burst out laughing.

“So you are a cow now?”

“It’s not funny Toye,” she slapped his hand. “Maybe you are like this because I practically live here.”

Toye picked the remote and went through the channels.

“Now you are ignoring me?”

“Madam, you know I like my space. Stop nagging, choose a date and let me know.”

She moved to seat beside him. “Why are you like this now?” She sulked.

“This is about us, not me.”

“If you know that, give me time to get myself together and get back to you.”

“I’ll stay away from here for a while maybe that will help you think.” She threatened.

“If that’s what you want.” He shrugged

“You make it seem as if I am forcing myself on you.”

Toye shrugged and continued to flip through the T.V stations.
