Chapter 29
-LP's POV-
I watched as the sorcerer- whose name I now knew as Seto- paced around the kitchen collecting things and setting them on the counter.
He collected golden clovers- three leaf clovers with pieces of real gold grown in the leaves, some herbs I had never seen before, a single raspberry, a dragonfruit, and a jar of something unknown. It was black and it moved.
He pulled a Mason jar from a cabinet, and pulled apart the clovers and sprinkled them into the jar. The raspberry was in, and so was a piece of the dragonfruit. The jar was nowhere close to full. He took a spoon, a regular-sized tablespoon, and put a single tablespoon of the black stuff into the jar, and that little bit expanded to fill the jar three quarters of the way.
He capped the jar and shook it. It turned a pale magenta, then gold, then it suddenly looked like the insid word a dragonfruit- white with the black seeds. He stopped and set the jar down, pouring the contents into 3 separate cups- two glass chalices and a metal cup. It didn't melt when I held it so I assumed it was a special metal. (Just titanium!)
The drink tasted amazing, but I was still uncomfortable knowing I was a hundred feet in the air. I nestled into the side of Seto, and he just laughed a bit and wrapped his arm around me. I used the straw Seto had given me to continue drinking from the cup in front of me. Mine was gone and I longed for the taste. It left nothing, not even an aftertaste, but it left something else.
A feeling. I could feel my exhaustion fade, and I felt over hyper, energetic and ready to move, yet the cool temperature of Seto was enough to make me pass out, yet again.

-Kara's POV-
I watched as Preston sunk into Seto, asleep. He gave the impression that he was very at home, yet very on-edge. Being high in the air was not on his top priority list. He wanted to be far from it. His body language was suffice enough to tell me he was comfortable with the old general.
Seto was always a softie- never wanted to hurt anyone- but he was forced to. Low to moderate PTSD, and he was immediately discharged from the field.
I jumped when a knock on the door snapped me out of my thoughts. I walked to the front door- which hung in space- and found the King.
Rob was sitting in the tree, trying not to fall.
"Hi, is Seto here?"
"He is."
I called behind me for Seto. He came to the door and had a double take.
"Robert? Why are you here?"
"I wanted to talk to you. Bad time?"
"Not at all! I was just confused. Come in before you fall out of that damn tree."
He swung in from the branch, and looked startled to see Preston asleep on the couch, curled up in a ball.
"What's he doing here?"
"He's resting. I fixed a lot of damage and he needs to sleep it off. Kinda like jet lag. You need sleep."
"Yeah, but Jerome told me to keep away from him..."
"Jerome isn't here," I said, "he's still in the meadow."
"Jerome?" Seto asked.
"The alpha."
"Ah, yes. Now what is it you wanted to talk about, Robert?"
He looked to the couch.
"... Preston..."
