Chapter 2

I woke up and before Mother had the chance to object or even wake up, I ran north, wary of the villagers now. They had ratted me out once, but would not find me again.

Boy was I wrong.

I settled into the bushes, and an armored human approached. He grabbed my arm, and pulled me to a carriage a few meters away. In that carriage though, was something I dreaded. A cage. It was a small cage made of thick iron bars. I struggled, and tried to pry my hand away from that of the human. I failed horrifically.
The human got into the carriage, and snapped the reins- leading me far, far away from home. I cried, not sure where I was being taken, and also in general fear. I had never experienced this confinement, and was petrified by it. I sat on the wall of the cage, burying my face in my knees, crying silently. It was not a wail, or even close to a whimpering cry. It was just tears- not a single sound escaping my throat.
All around me, I could see more armored humans, sparring with each other with real weapons. Above my head, I could spot a flag waving in the wind- it was a green field with a rose pinned on a spear shaft. Where there were not humans fighting, I could see rosebushes- they made a pathway everywhere, there was not a single place you could go without having roses on either side of you, it seemed.
The carriage drew into a stable, and the horses who had moved the carriage were unhitched and led away. The human who had caught me, lifted the cage and carried me inside the castle ahead. Once inside, the cool air hit me, making my lava start to cool- which hurt. It made me feel like stone, and made my movements very sluggish and tiring.
The little boy from the other day- Rob- ran in. He noticed me, and dismissed me- like I was a piece of garbage he wanted to throw away but was too lazy to get up. The human carrying me shifted the cage in his hands, and it moved me uncomfortably. He pushed through a giant set of double doors, and I flinched. The King sat in a throne across the room.

"Sir, I caught it exactly where you said it would be."
"Not even 24 hours? Are you really that desperate to learn our ways, creeper?"
"I am not desperate," I stated, "I am curious. And I just want to understand."
"Well, I told you to stay away, and you disobeyed. I'll think about your punishment this evening. For now you'll stay in that cage in the main hall. Dismissed, soldier."

The human bowed, and carried me into the main hall, setting the cage down near the front door. The boy stopped, and sat outside the cage.

"Now you're in trouble, aren't you?"
"I was not trying to get myself into any trouble. It was a mistake I went back, human. All of you are selfish, and think your safety is the number one concern- well, I am here to say, it is not. All creatures of all kinds should be cared for, and the safety of all is the main concern. The world does not revolve around humans. You are not the main focal point of Mother Nature. She does not focus on just you, but she watches all of us. Tell the King to think about that." I spat.
"I wasn't trying to be rude, but okay..."

He looks and sounded hurt, but ran off with the message anyway.
