Talking

Aaron

Balto.

Is.

F***ing.

Dead.

Nobody, hurts my Luna, and gets away with it.

Soft snoring fills the room, and I look down to see Aphmau sleeping. She's so small and... fragile, almost. It's adorable.
I promised myself to protect her, and that's what I'm going to do.

Aphmau's phone starts ringing, so I pick it up and answer it for her.

"Hello?"

"Hey! Can I speak to Aphmau if she's there?" It's a male voice. I don't recognize it.

"Who is this?" I ask.

Silence.

"Hello?"

"Sorry, yeah I'm here. Just... tell me who you are first." He says.

"Her fiancé." I reply vaguely.

"Oh! Okay, I heard about you." He replies, "I'm-"

He gets cut off by yelling.

"Hello?" I ask.

"Who is this?" A new voice demands. Female, cold, and a dangerous tone.

"Who are you?" I ask.

"I asked first."

I hate it when people use that logic.

"My name is Aaron. Who are you?"

"Aaron? Wait- Aaron! It's Mika." She says.

"Mika? How did you get Aphmau's phone number?" I ask.

"I didn't. Why was Balto calling you?" She asks.

"That was Balto?" I question.

"Yeah, he broke into our camp. Joseph and Ellie just chased him out. Why did he call Aphmau?" She replies.

I remember what Aphmau told me. Mika was the person who pushed Balto off of  her.

"I think you know." I say quietly.

"Guess Aphmau told you..." she sighs.

"You could say that." I reply.

"That didn't take very long. It's only been a few days since we left." 

"Where are you anyway? Kim says that Cathy is hiding something, but you and your friends are all over the newspaper." 

"Right now? In Phoenix Drop still, we don't plan on leaving, but we decided to stick semi-close to your area. We're actually on the street where y'all lived, and currently Chris and Talon are arguing about whether we should stay here or not." 

"Okay. That's actually a good place to stay, but keep away from Cathy, Betty, and Jenny's house. I heard they moved back together after Garroth left, and if they see you it won't be good." 

"Point taken. We'll stick around here and keep an eye on your friends. Oh, and your sister is worried about you. I could literally hear her yelling about it from two streets away, and I'm not even a werewolf or meif'wa."

"Oh... that's... right. I'll find a way to tell her I'm fine."

"Shoot, I gotta go. See ya."

"Bye."

I hung up, and put Aphmau's phone down.

She was sleeping quietly, but tense, and was mumbling things.

"Stop... let me go... go away..."

A nightmare.

"Shh..." I hushed her gently, straddling her small figure and holding her close. "It's okay... I'm right here... I'm right here Luna..."

She calmed down a little, and relaxed. I kissed her forehead, and she murmured something quietly.

"I love you Aaron..."

I smile.

"I love you too Aphmau..."

After laying her down gently, I left the room and went downstairs.

Kawaii~chan and Kim were back, and Kawaii~chan was passed out on the couch, while Kim looked deep in though. Probably talking to Emmalynn.

I left them alone, and grabbed my coat, going outside the cave.

I have to be careful, if someone I know sees me things will go south quickly.

But I need to talk to someone about Balto. Someone that went to the same high school as Aphmau, and... a werewolf. Someone in my pack.

Blaze... would tell everyone. He can barely keep his mouth shut these days...

Dottie would freak out, and demand to see Aphmau and make sure she's okay.

Rilen would be the same as Dottie.

Maria? No, she would also tell them all. I want to keep this a secret still.

Daniel. Yeah, Daniel. He wouldn't tell anyone, not even Dottie and Rilen. He kept my werewolf secret throughout high school, college, and... pretty much everything until it became public.

Daniel it is, and I started towards our old street.

The house at least, is being taken care of.

I walked around to where I knew Daniel's room was, but stopped when I heard talking from an open window.

Melissa, Blaze, and Dottie.

"I know, I know he's fine, but I can't help it!" Melissa exclaims, sounding tired and upset.

"Calm down Mel, we'll find him okay? Alpha can take care of himself anyway, it's not like anyone is going to hurt him." Blaze says.

"I know, but I'm worried... honestly, I think he went after Aphmau..." she sighs.

"What makes you say that?" Dottie asks.

"She's his Luna, which means we all have a small connection to her. Aaron's is the biggest because he's the Alpha, and her mate." Melissa explains.

"So of course he would fully believe she's innocent, and try to get her out of jail... he went to visit her every day. Do you think the others went with him?" Blaze asks.

"Probably..."

I tune out the conversation, and continue past, stopping outside a bottom window and tapping on it lightly. A figure inside moved around groggily, and the window opened revealing a sleepy Daniel.

"Huh?... Alpha?..." he mumbles.

"Hey Daniel." I say quietly.

"Alpha?... Alpha!" He exclaims, awake now. "Where have you been?! We're all worried sick!"

"Long story, keep your voice down." I reply, "I just... I need to talk to you, but you have to keep everything I say a secret."

"Huh? Why me?"

"Your good at keeping secrets. I know, because you never told anyone about me being a werewolf, not even Dottie or Rilen, and all because you assumed Aphmau knew, and it was a lover's secret."

"Oh... okay. But not here, Rilen and I share a room, he just hasn't come in yet. I'll leave a note."

Daniel disappears, and comes back a moment later. I move to the side and he jumps out.

"Where are we going?" He asks.

"Good question..." I sigh.

"Oh! What about your old house? It's right next door!" He says.

"Sure, come on."

We go over, and I open one of the windows and climb inside. Everything is dusty, but in good condition. So we sit down on the couch.

"What's wrong?" Daniel asks.

I tell the story from the beginning.

When I finish, he doesn't say anything.

"When I get my hands on that little..." I mutter.

"I'll keep an eye out for Balto." Daniel says, "He won't get away with this!"

"Nobody, gets away with hurting my girl..." I growl.

"Don't worry Alpha. If I find him, I'll call you." He says.

I look around. The sun is just barely peeking through the mountains.

"I need to go, Aphmau will freak out if I'm gone when she wakes up." I say.

"See you?" Daniel asks, as we climb out the window and stop outside his.

"Yeah. Let me know if you find anything." I reply.

He nods, and I run back to the cave.

Everyone is asleep when I get back, so I leave my coat in the closet and go back to Aphmau and I's room.

Aph sleeps peacefully on the bed, so I change and climb in with her, putting my arms around her torso. She stirred, and I smiled down at her as her eyes flickered open.

"Mmm..." she didn't say anything, just snuggled into my chest. I chuckled and kissed her forehead.

"Morning Baby..." I whisper quietly, kissing the top of her head.

"Baby?" She questions.

"Mhm. Cuz your my baby girl." I reply, tightening my grip around her.

"I'm not a baby." She says, blushing.

"So? Your cute as one." I smirk as she blushes more.

"Stop flirting with me!" She exclaims, looking away from me.

"Aww, but I like getting you flustered."

"Only because you know it annoys me!"

"No, because it's cute, and..." I lower my voice, moving my lips to her ear.

"I know it has an effect on you~"

I can feel her shiver, and pull her arms up to her chest. I just play with her hair, and we stay like that as the sun rises.
