What He Knows
Zane and Nana

Zane

It's horrible.

Now I know how Ghost feels.

Being dead sucks.

Or... sort of dead? Coma I guess is the right word.

After everything went black, I woke up staring at the sky. I stood up, and looked around.

I was translucent, glowing slightly, and on top of my own body, which had a knife buried into it's back.

I was a ghost, obviously.

Looking up, I saw Cathy taking off white gloves, and throwing a garbage bag off of her clothes. She smiled and left.

Aphmau walked in a moment later, and gasped.

She just stares.

"Aphmau?" I ask.

She didn't show any signs of hearing me.

"Zane!" I look to the side.

Kim was beckoning to me.

I ran over.

"Kim?" I asked.

"Ghost." She corrects.

"Sorry, Ghost. What are you doing here?" I asked.

"Doesn't matter. Are you dead?" She asked.

"Excuse me?" I asked.

She peeked back out.

The others had arrived.

They blame her...

Kawaii~chan cried.

Garroth stared at Aphmau.

Vylad checked me me.

"He's still breathing!" Vylad yelled.

"Call the hospital!" Kawaii~chan exclaimed.

Ghost waved a hand in front of me.

"Snap out of it! Look, I can't keep this up much longer! What hap-" she closed her mouth abruptly.

"Ghost! Don't take over like that suddenly!" Kim exclaimed. She can't see me.

I sighed, and go back over.

Kaiya and Taiya are gone. Aphmau is gone. Aaron punched Garroth, and ran off after Aphmau with Katelyn.

Garroth held his jaw, groaning.

Travis runs after Katelyn.

An ambulance and police car arrive.

Everyone gets into the ambulance, along with me. I'm pulled into it with my body.

"Will he be okay?" Garroth asked.

"He should live. Whether he's okay or not is a good question..." the paramedic says. I recognize her as Luka, the same one who helped Vylad when he was shot.

"What happened to your jaw? And, where's Aphmau and the others?" Luka asks.

"Aaron punched me. Aphmau... she ran off... we were a little harsh..." he sighs.

"Harsh?! You were harsh?!" I exclaim angrily. "YOU BLAMED HER!"

"She did this." Cathy explains.

"Cathy? Oh, nice to see you again. How do you know Aphmau did it? What exactly happened?" Luka asks.

They explain what they saw.

"That's horrible... we're here." She says. The doors open, and again I am pulled with my body into the hospital.

Everything is a blur honestly. I was put in emergency, I saw the others follow and wait in the waiting room, and now I'm here.

In surgery.

A glow catches my eye.

A silvery blue woman, with long hair and glasses, stares at me. She's fairly thin, but also sort of cute. In a ghostly kind of way.

"Zane?" She asks, sounding familiar.

It's Ghost.

"Ghost?" I question.

"Yes I'm a ghost. Yes I am Kim's ghost." She says.

"Oh. Hey." I sigh.

"Call me Emmalynn. You okay?" She asks.

"Does being half-dead count as okay?" I ask sarcastically. She giggles.

"No I guess not, but at least your not fully dead." She walks/floats over, and sits next to me. "What happened?"

"You saw it, didn't you?" I ask.

"Yes, but I need to know for sure." She says.

"Cathy did it." I sigh, "At least, that's what I think... I dunno. It wasn't Aphmau." I say.

"I know that. The problem is, what everyone saw makes it look like Aphmau did it." She says.

"But she didn't!" I protest.

"She was proven guilty." Emmalynn says. "We don't know how, but Hyria demanded a lawyer. Court is next week. If you don't wake up by then, Kim will be the only person who counts as a witness. One person isn't enough evidence."

"Wait a minute, why aren't you with Kim? Aren't you unable to leave her except at the lodge?" I ask.

"Sort of. I can leave, but it takes a lot of energy. My body was buried at the lodge, and my soul is naturally pulled to my body, so it's a little tough unless I'm possessing someone." She explains. "You don't have to be rooted to your body either y'know. Everyone is in the waiting room."

"Wait, I can leave?!" I ask.

"Yep." She smiles. I stand up, and go to the door. I attempt to open it, but phase though. Emmalynn laughs at me.

"It'll start pulling when you leave the room, just be ready." She says.

I nod, and walk through the door.

Immediately, I go flying back.

"You weren't ready!" She accuses me.

I glare at her.

She sighs, and grabs my hand, and then pulls me out of the room.

It pulls, but I manage to resist it.

Emmalynn drags me through the hallways, dodging people, and we come into the waiting room.

"Why do you insist on her being innocent?!" Cathy exclaims.

"Because she is!" Taiya argues.

"Your just biased because she's your mother!" Cathy accuses.

"That has nothing to do with it b-!" Kaiya covers her sisters mouth. Kim stares at us, and waves.

"Who are you waving at?" Garroth asks.

"Oh, nobody." She replies.

"He's not sure, but he knows it wasn't Aphmau. Evidence points at Cathy." Emmalynn tells her.

Sobbing hits my ears.

Tuning out the conversation, I go over to Nana, who is sobbing next to Vylad.

"Kawaii~chan?" I ask.

She doesn't respond.

"Nana?"

Still nothing.

"Try possessing her." Emmalynn says.

"Excuse me?!" I exclaim, staring at her.

"It's easy, just touch her." She says 

"That came out horribly wrong." I sigh.

"Well, she won't be able to see or hear you unless you do. Try it." She prompts.

"Uh, I'm not sure..." I trail off.

"I'll show you, it's easy. Just do this." Emmalynn says. She sits on Kim, and copies her position, then disappears. Kim blinks, and then smiles at me.

I stare at Nana nervously for a moment, before sitting next to her, and copying her position.

Everything goes black, and then brightens up again.

I'm inside Nana's room, and she's crying on the bed.

Nana

I stiffened a little, feeling something. I don't know what. It's hard to describe.

Then I heard his voice.

Nana?

"Z-Zane?..." I whisper quietly.

Yeah... can you see me?

I shake my head.

A warm feeling wraps around me, as if he's hugging me. I relax, leaning back in my seat, and lowering my feet. The others glance at me, then go back to talking.

What happened? I ask.

I was stabbed in the back. Duh.

I can't help but smile a little.

Seriously, who did it?

Cathy I think. She was right behind me when I woke up as a ghost. Aphmau came in afterwards.

I smile more. It really wasn't Aphmau.

That's good. Will you be okay?

I'm in surgery. Not fun.

Oh...

Don't be like that. I'll be fine. I've faced worse.

When?

Katelyn.

I manage a laugh. The others stare at me. Kim smiles.

Of course.

Hah! Hey, I just wanted you to know I'm okay. I should go back now... this is kind of weird...

It is a little weird... but alright. Don't die on me, kay? And if you do, you had better come back as a ghost.

Hah! I promise. I love you Nana.

I love you too Zane.

The feeling leaves as quickly as it came, along with the warmth.

I look up, and smile. Zane stands there, with Ghost.

"Come on Zane, if you aren't back before your surgery is done, you might actually die!" Ghost scolds.

"Yeah yeah, I'm coming Emmalynn. Just... let me do something first." He replies, turning back to me.

He leans down, and kisses me. I close my eyes. It doesn't feel real, but it does feel comforting and warm.

Ghost mimics puking in the background. I giggle.

"Heh, guess you can see me." He says.

I nod.

"Of course she can see you. Now let's go!" Ghost grabs his hand, and pulls him away. I smile at him, and I swear I see him smiling back though his ghostly mask.

"What are you smiling about?" Vylad asks me.

"Zane's in surgery, and just fine." I say.

"How do you know that?" Cathy asks.

Ghost comes back into the room, and goes back to Kim.

"Zane is fine." Kim says.

"How do you know?" Garroth asks.

"We just do." We say in unison.

"We just do."

I'm home sick, I have literally nothing better to do besides writing and reading.
Don't get used to this.
