chapter six

After Bill and Alice were done getting milkshakes they made their way to the quarry, Alice riding on Bill's back pegs. Her arms were lightly wrapped around Bill, making sure not to hold onto him too tight but still be able to keep her balance on the bike.
They finally got to the quarry, all of the others being there. Even Beverly, and Ben.
"Hey guys." Alice greeted, her eyes lingering on Stan more than the others. He looked better than he did the moment he stepped foot into her bedroom last night, but he still looked shaken up- just like she did.
"So, who's going first?" Beverly asked, pointing her hand off of the cliff they were all standing on.
"Definitely not me." Alice commented, her eyes widening slightly, as the other boys stayed silent.
"I'll go, then. Sissies!" Beverly joked, taking off her dress and stepping back, running and jumping into the air.
Alice covered her eyes, knowing the height from the cliff to the water. She wasn't afraid of heights- she just hated the slight anxiety she got seeing people jump off of high things like that.
"What the fuck?" Richie said aloud, he couldn't believe his eyes. Then again, neither could any of the others. "We just got shown up by a girl!"
"You guys coming down or what?!" They all heard Beverly scream. The others slowly slipped their clothes off, Eddie and Richie jumping in together, followed by Ben and Stan.
"A-are you sure you want to go?" Bill asked the girl who was so much smaller than him. He looked down at her, trying to not stare at her body. It's not that he was glancing at her in a perverted way, but he just thought her body was beautiful.
Just as much as her personality and other looks he'd seen so many times before. This was the most he's seen of her, yet it was still just as beautiful as the rest of her.
"Yeah, yeah we can go. Just please hold my hand?" She asked, raising her eyebrows. Bill couldn't help but smile as he walked closer to her, locking his fingers with hers. Her nerves calmed down a lot, and she smiled as they stepped back, running and jumped off of the cliff.
Bill looked over at Alice, as her beautiful brown hair flew upward in the wind. Her eyes lit up, like they did before she ever saw that stupid clown. She had a giant smile on her face, and her cheeks were a dark red.
Before they both knew it they landed in the water, their hands immediately separating the moment they went under.
Alice immediately swam up to the top, noticing the others splashing each other jokingly. She kept herself above the water, watching as they played chicken fight.
She had the biggest smile on her face, until she saw Bill and Beverly looking at each other smiling like idiots. Furrowing her eyebrows, she pushed away the hurt feeling in her stomach as she swam over to Stanley, who just lost in chicken fight.
"You should hangout with me..." She awkwardly said. Which was weird, considering Alice Bell was never awkward.
"Of course. Hey, can we talk about last night?" He asked, causing her to look up.
"Sure." She replied, wondering what it is he wanted to say.
"I don't want to sleep alone again, not until this whole clown thing goes away. Could I possibly sneak into your house again tonight, and stay over again? I know we met like two days ago but I really have-"
"Of course S," She said, giving him a nickname the way he'd given her one.
He smiled a giant smile. "Thanks A." She smiled a little bit bigger, before jokingly splashing him.
Bill noticed them talking and frowned, wondering why she was talking to Stan. Of course he knew they were friends, he was glad she got along with all of his friends, so he could obviously see her more often if they liked her and wanted to hangout with her. But he didn't like how much time she was spending with Stan.
He'd noticed their little encounter while Eddie was fixing Ben, then him coming to her house in the middle of the night? It's not like Stan to break rules, he breaks more than Eddie but he's never broke curfew, especially for just some girl.
But then again, Alice Bell wasn't just some girl. Eddie knew that, Richie knew that, Ben knew that, Stan knew that, Beverly knew that, and especially Bill knew that.
Alice was seemingly perfect, which it was really hard to be considered perfect in a town like Derry. But in the few days of actually hanging out with her and talking to her, they'd all figured out so much.
She loves strawberry. Strawberry ice cream, strawberry milkshakes. She loves dipping french fries in her shakes, even if some other people find it absolutely disgusting. Alice always put others before herself, even if she hurt herself by falling off of her bike and kept seeing something mess with her. She paid very close attention to everything, which was how she knew that Stanley lived where he did.
She always tried to stay positive, and hide her feelings although anyone could easily read her like an open book.
Alice was really insecure, although she knew that she was a pretty girl. She still had her flaws, and that's what the boys and Beverly of the Losers club loved even more about her. They thought there was absolutely nothing wrong with her, but when they actually met her and saw a few of her flaws that made them love her even more.
Bill just watched as the two jokingly splashed each other, Ben getting into it also.
"You must really like her don't you?" A light voice asked, and Bill turned to see Beverly watching him, watching Alice.
"Is i-it that obvious?" Bill asked, looking over at Beverly.
"You stare at her, as if she's the prettiest woman you've ever seen." Beverly replied, smiling.
"It's b-because sh-she is." Bill replied, looking back at Alice.
He watched as Richie came over, dunking Stan under the water as Eddie splashed Alice with a huge splash of water. Stan came up from under the water, pushing Richie under before going and picking Alice up, throwing her above the water and under.
"You know, Stan's pretty close to you, I don't think you need to worry about him." Beverly added, bringing Bill out of his thoughts once again.
"B-but they look so g-good together." Bill replied, feeling sadness throughout his entire body.
It was the same sadness he felt when he found out Georgie was missing.
"That means nothing, Bill Denbrough. Sure, they're cute together. But the look on both of your faces when you're talking or even looking at each other? Priceless. Watching you guys jump into the water, the way you both were super happy riding up on your bike. She doesn't look at Stan like that, neither him her. They're just close. They don't bond the way that you and her do," Beverly said, giving the tall boy some advice. "You know, she went over there because you and I were hanging out."
"W-what?" Bill stopped looking at Alice, looking at Beverly.
"Yeah, when you said something and we both looked at each other, I looked away and made eye contact with Alice, she swam over to Stan looking really sad. She probably thinks you like me." She replied, dunking her head underwater then quickly coming back up.
"You should go over there, splash her." Beverly said the moment she got up, before swimming her way over to Ben.
Bill took the tall girls advice, swimming over to Alice and splashing her lightly. Alice turned to Bill, laughing lightly before splashing him back. Maybe Beverly was right, the smile on Alice's face grew so much bigger the moment she noticed he was by her, bigger than she was when she was splashing Stan.
