chapter one

The town of Derry, Maine wasn't like any other town. It was different, how, you might ask? Well, first of all, every twenty seven years for a period of about twelve to sixteen months or so, kids go missing. And not just the usual one kid missing every once in a while, but dozens, just gone. And the parents? Well, they don't spend too much time looking for their children, having hope that their kids could still be alive, no. They sit around, moping all day, neglect or maybe even abuse the kids they have now. Derry isn't like any other town, and not in a good way, either.

You'd think almost everyone has it bad. Well, that's not entirely true. A young teenage girl who goes by the name of Alice Bell doesn't seem to. Alice was a normal girl, except for the fact she didn't have any friends. Well, that wasn't entirely true either.

She was nice to everyone, and everyone was nice to her. She was well liked, even by the horrific Henry Bowers and the rest of his gang of friends. Alice was well liked by Greta Keene, by Beverly Marsh, by the new kid Ben Hanscom and by the losers club. Especially Bill.

Alice wasn't exactly friends with anyone, she'd say. She talks to people yes, but she has nobody to hangout with after school or on weekends, nobody to have sleepovers with or to tell her secrets to. She was really lonely, especially because the only people she had to go home to was her parents.

Her relationship with her parents wasn't all bad, just her dad working all day while her mother did cleaning or gardening or something to keep herself entertained. She didn't spend much time with them, more of spent time in her room painting, or drawing.

Alice walked through the school on the last day of school, saying hi to whoever looked her way or said hello to her first. She sent them her million dollar smile, with a dazzle in her emerald green eyes. Her hair was half up and half down, how she had it most of the time. Well, on school days she had it like that. On the weekend she let it down, or put it in a pony tail. She found her way to her locker, putting the combination in and opening it.

"Hey Alice." A voice said, and she looked to her left to see none other than Henry Bowers, a small smile on his face.

"Hello Henry." She greeted, not wanting to be rude. She didn't feel like talking to him, but she's seen how he's gotten with other people, and didn't wanna be in a situation like them.

"I saw you drop your paper, thought I'd give it to you." He held out the packet she'd accidentally dropped out of her binder while walking into the school.

"Thank you Henry, I appreciate it. I need to get to class." She said after lightly taking the paper out of his hands and shoving it in her arms along with the textbooks she needed to turn in.

"You're welcome." He quietly said, as she shut and locked her locker, walking the opposite direction. She didn't realize that as she was walking, a group of four boys all had their eyes on her.

Richard Tozier, Stanley Uris, Edward Kaspbrak and William Denbrough. They all watched her confrontation with Henry, in awe as he didn't threaten her or hit her. It was amazing to see him actually show respect towards someone for once.

"I still cannot believe how hot she is," Richie said aloud, earning a slight glare from Bill.

"She's not 'hot' as you call it, s-she's b-beautiful," Bill said, his stutter loud and clear.

"Does someone got a crush?" Eddie joked, elbowing Bill lightly.

His face got red, eyes wide. "N-no, I just t-think that you shouldn't c-call a girl hot is all. L-let's get to class." He said, walking to the direction of his class.

Bill wouldn't admit it, but he did have a small crush on the girl. He has a few classes with her, and the couple times they've spoke her voice sounded smooth and light, as if she was an angel. Her eyes dazzled as he saw her speak about something she deeply cared about, and her smile was bright and wide. He didn't know her personally, so he couldn't admit he has a huge crush on her, but he definitely thought she was beautiful and would say it.

Then again, most of the guys at their school thought Alice was beautiful, but it was simply because she was. She had no rumors spread about her, and if one is beginning to surface nobody would spread it around, seeing as they don't believe anything that doesn't come out of her mouth herself. Everyone enjoys her company, she's overall loved by most of Derry because no matter how rainy and stormy and dull the weather is, she lights up the room.

****

The school day went by slowly, everyone just wanting it to be over with. Summer was here, which meant time for hanging out with friends, swimming, getting ice cream, things such as that. The only sucky thing about it was the curfew at seven o'clock. Of course it was for everyone's safety, but that meant hanging out with your friends ended sooner than it should.

After the last bell rang, everyone found their way out of the front doors, students throwing papers around and some even just throwing their entire backpacks away. Alice stayed inside a little bit longer, waiting for all of the students to get their head start and she slowly walked the halls, looking at all of the 'Have a fun Summer!' posters. She wasn't all excited for summer the way that most kids were, but that was only because she didn't have anyone to hangout with. You'd think that out of all these people that like her, they'd at least ask her once if she wants to hangout with them. But sadly, they don't, and so she's left all on her own for the summer.

By the time that she finally got out of the school and down the steps, she saw Henry Bowers and his gang of friends, picking on what was known as the loser club. She knew those guys, she has at least one class with each of them, and has talked to each of them sometime before.

She watched as Henry messed with Richie Tozier, a boy who was known as 'trashmouth' and who always made lots of jokes. She actually found them funny, didn't find any offense to it whatsoever, so it made her blood boil seeing him pick on them.

Before she knew it, Alice found herself walking into the direction as Bill, the boy with the cute stutter, tried to stop Henry from picking on his friends any longer.

"Henry!" She called out, catching everyone's attention. His face fell to a light frown, taking a couple steps away from Bill. "What are you doing to those kids?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I was just uh- talking, telling Bill here about how sorry I am for his loss." He lied, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Okay, that's why you were just picking on my friend Richie here?" She asked, standing between Bill and Richie, wrapping her arm around his shoulder.

"Friend- you're friends with these guys?" Henry asked, disbelief all over his face. He'd never seen her with anyone- which was one thing he liked about Alice Bell. She never had anyone with her, she was always alone.

"Yep. Going to be hanging out all summer long. Why don't you leave these guys alone, huh? Pick on someone your own size maybe? Or how about this, spread love and not hate. There's enough hate in the world, why add more?" She asked, finally taking her arm off of Richie's shoulders.

Bill watched in dismay. He's thought this girl was cute for who knows how long, and she's standing not even a foot away from him! She was saying they were her friends! Of course he knew she was saying that to get Henry off their backs, but still! She still said it which made him smile lightly. She saved him from a possible beating, along with Stan, Eddie AND Richie.

"Oh- alright." Henry awkwardly said before turning and walking away, his gang of friends right behind him.

Once the group was out of sight, Alice didn't say a word as she headed toward the direction where her bike was.

"Hey, wait!" A voice called, and she turned to see Bill coming after her. He stopped abruptly in front of her, trying to find the words to say.

Alice just smiled, liking how nervous and cute the boy was. She'd always found Bill adorable, but then again she thought his entire group of friends were adorable.

"I-I just wanted t-to say thank you for- for uh helping u-us back there." He stuttered, his face a tint of red.

"It's no problem. I hate seeing Henry Bowers pick on you guys, and everyone else. You've all done nothing to him so I'll do my best to keep him off of your back." Alice replied, pushing a piece of dark colored hair over her shoulder.

"Do you want to hang with us tomorrow? You know, it's summer and all, you did technically say we're going to hangout all summer," Eddie said, smiling lightly at the girl.

"Of course I would. I'll meet you guys at the ice cream shop, tomorrow at noon." Alice decided, before turning and finishing her short walk to her bike.

She hopped on, riding off into the direction of her house, all four boys watching in disbelief.

"I just got a hot girl to hangout with us dudes."

so this is first chapter! i hope it was long enough :) i really tried on it.

i imagine alice being portrayed as a young mila kunis by the way!!

also, i understand richie cusses a lot but i'm still not used to this or writing someone stuttering a lot but i'm really trying here!! IT will be showing up soon, i just wanna make it different and put thought into this.

bev, mike and ben will be in it also, trust me. i don't know what order things go in exactly but i have a good idea so please just stick with me.

also, i understand i made alice seem perfect, but she's really not. i just wanted to see something different. i've read a lot of good fanfictions for the boys and such but all the girls had a family member that died, or were really bullied and sad and idk i just didn't wanna be unoriginal yanno?  no hate to those stories, either, i really enjoyed reading them i just wanted to do something different

also, i understand henry hates beverly for her gender and such, but in this case that's not why he hates her or whatever. i'm changing things so it'll fit my storyline and all, and trust me alice won't always be able to stop henry it's just at first.

but i hope you liked it!
