Chapter 2

"Never again will we fear the Jedi!" Shouted Mas Amedda, raising his staff into the air in front of the thousands of people of Coruscant.

Mas Amedda stood on the steps of the Jedi Temple, overlooking the crowd of angry and confused citizens. Several Clone Troopers were behind him, guarding the steps on the Temple to make sure no one stood up to Mas, and no one decided to run inside the Temple. Behind him sat a metal melting pot, and clones pouring Jedi lightsabers into it, all of them turning into melted, orange goo.

On the Jedi Temple, there were red flags, with the new Galactic Empire symbols on them in black, making sure the people knew who they were serving now, and who was in charge. Then there were big, gigantic screens that broadcasted Mas Amedda's message to the people of Coruscant, and then all over the galaxy.

"Through the grace of our Emperor Palpatine, we were saved from their treachery!" he shouted again, manipulating the lives of the Coruscant people. The crowd gathered in front of the Temple were not very amused. Most people looked confused, betrayed, or angry at the Empire, for they knew the Jedi would never do such a thing.

People started shouting over the broadcast, telling their fellow people that the Empire was lying to them, and the Jedi would never betray the Republic. However, they were ignored, as the crowd grew louder each second, as Mas assured them everything would be alright.

Up above, Darth Vader and Darth Sidious watched from a balcony from the Jedi Temple. They overlooked their new Empire, taking in their newly founded power.

Vader watched the Clones, as they started melting their lightsabers down into liquid metal. He could feel the crystals inside of them dying.

Next to him, Lord Sidious sighed lowly, taking in everything before him. Slowly, he looked up, turning towards his new apprentice. "Do you know why our blades are red, Lord Vader?" he inquires, curious if the Jedi ever taught these Sith subjects in the Temple.

Vader thought about it, trying to think if Anakin had ever learned about such Sith subjects. "No, Master. The Jedi teachings on this subject were... Incomplete, " he responds, not remembering anything taught about their lightsabers.

"Ha!" Sidious coughs, looking back down at the crowd of people gathered in front of the Temple. "The fools hid the knowledge they found uncomfortable. They could not face the darker truths, and they paid the price..." Darth Sidious paused, taking another deep breath. "A red saber is no different than any other- except... It has been made to bleed, " Darth Sidious spat, his teeth gritting. The Jedi weapons were made to defend, and fight for peace. On the other hand, the Sith sabers were made to destroy, and show no mercy towards their opponents. It was the Sith sabers who truly made the Empire strong, who really ruled with an iron fist.

"The Jedi are gone! The Emperor saw through their Separatist plots; their lies," Mas Amedda announced once again, making sure the people knew who was really the good guy: The Emperor. It was his job to brainwash the people. "He survived their attempt to assassinate him, and now at last... We are safe!" he assured the people, raising his staff into the air once again, securing the faith of the citizens.

From above, the Emperor smirked in approval, as he continued to earn the trust of all of the people. Once again, he continued on the subject to his new apprentice. "The crystal from any Jedi's saber will do, " he informs Vader, "As you know, the kybers are alive, in their way. Like any living thing, they can feel pain."

"Never again will their instruments of oppression terrorize the galaxy!" Mas Amedda reassures the galaxy, helping the clones dump more lightsabers into the huge melting pot. In turn, this message got a huge roar of approval from the crowd, dozens of people began to clap, as if they had all been terrorized with a lightsaber.

Darth Sidious continued, "Through the Dark Side, you must pour your pain into the crystal. And when, at last, the agony becomes more than it can stand..." Sidious breathes in, then exhaling slowly, being reminded of his own red blade. "... A beautiful crimson... The color of your rage."

Vader breathes in, being reminded of Anakin Skywalker's blue blade, the color of his bravery, and loyalty to the Jedi Order. If only Obi-Wan had not taken his saber from him, making a red blade would be so much easier. He started to ponder back on to the days of his victories, and his fond memories of training with it. He remembered the battles he won in the Clone Wars, the enemies he had slain and brought them to their mercy... He even sort of smiled at the thought... No, that Jedi was weak. Anakin was but a boy in a man's body,  Vader would rule with an merciless, iron fist.

Breaking his thoughts, Mas Amedda spoke once again, with Vader returning his attention to the blue Chagrian. "We have entered a new age," Mas picks up a lightsaber from a bin, lifting it into the air. "An age of freedom!" He them takes the lightsaber, throwing it into the melting pot, letting it melt with the others, showing the Jedi would never harm them again.

"Freedom... Hmm," Sidious pondered out loud, peering out over the crowd. "None of them understand it... None but you and I, " he assured Vader.

But Vader already knew the only free man here was Palpatine. It was not Vader. Vader was not free, nor was Anakin Skywalker. They were trapped in sadness, rage, and confusion. Anakin could never be free, and Vader knew this.

"Thus, tyranny ends!" Mas grinned, watching the lightsabers burn and melt down into nothing, showing the people that the Jedi Order no longer existed. Once again, the thousands of people outside the Jedi Temple roar in appreciation, their hands clapping for the new Empire, that they thought would keep them safe from harm and injustice.

As Vader watched, Anakin had shed a tear, as he realized all that he had fought for: peace, hope, happiness, and freedom- had all vanished into thin air. All of his years of hard work and training had turned into dust, as now this Dark Lord of the Sith had taken over, who had no empathy for anyone but himself and his master.

With every passing minute, he felt pain and conflict within himself. Vader and Anakin screaming at one another, tearing each other apart. But as Vader had spent more and more time with Sidious, the more Anakin seemed to diminish.

Sidious spoke again, interuppting Vader's thoughts, his low gravelly voice ringing through his ears. "Do you understand, Lord Vader?"

"Yes, you could have given me any one of those lightsabers to corrupt, even Yoda's, " as he remembered Master Yoda's had a smaller hilt than everyone else's. "But you did not, " he tells his master, disappointed that he still did not have a lightsaber.

Suddenly, a blue fire emitted from the pot of lightsabers, the energy of the kyber crystals bursting into the air. At this, the crowd cheered and celebrated the death of the Jedi, with no worries that they would return.

Darth Sidious cackles wickedly in delight, seeing the destruction of the Jedi was his true achievement; one that he had worked his whole life for. He then turned to his apprentice, shaking his head. "A saber of the Sith, is not given... "

•~The Mid Rim~•

Darth Vader and Darth Sidious sat inside of an Imperial shuttle, on the way to a planet in the Mid Rim. They both sat in silence, until Sidious cleared his throat, talking to his new pupil.

"Your armor Lord Vader, how do you find it?" He asks, hoping that it would seem fitting and comfortable to him.

Vader brought up his hand, seeing his gauntlets on his arm, twisting it around to make it feel more comfortable on his mechanical hand. "It is... Acceptable, " he replies, not really sure what to think of it.

At last, the shuttle lands on the planet, the platform of the ship lowering down, revealing a barren and a very dry and desert land. Vader raised an eyebrow, confused as to why his master had brought him here. "Why have we come here, my master?

"I need your help, Lord Vader. I have very high hopes of what we might achieve together. But first... " The two dark lords walked to the front of the ramp, overlooking the barren and sand ridden planet. "...You will need your lightsaber, " Sidious tells him, revealing why he was brought to this planet. "You must seek out a Jedi from whom you must take a kyber crystal," he looks up at Vader, pointing his feeble boney finger at him. "A daunting task indeed, after our success in eradicating them from the galaxy."

"However, I have great faith in your resourcefulness and capability. Go now, my apprentice," he commands Vader, watching Vader walk down the ramp.

Vader's tall new boots clanked down the metal ramp, his black Sith cloak flowing in the wind behind him, this planet reminding him of Tatooine.

"Hmm, " thought Sidious, as he realized something was missing from the scene in front of him. "I had a vessel brought here for you to use- it appears to have been stolen... Ah this lawless galaxy... It truly cries out for our guidance," he remarks, disgusted with the fact that someone would dare steal from the Emperor.

Vader stopped in his tracks, looking at the view in front of him. It was nearly dusk, the sun about to set on the western horizon. He was at a loss, unsure of what to do. His master never really told him how to find anything, or how to do it.

"Are you at a loss my friend? Take heart, your path is simple, " Lord Sidious consoles. Vader returned his attention to him, staring at his master. "Embrace the dark side, bend it to your will, and it will provide everything you need." The platform began to rise back up, preparing for Sidious' departure. "Your power will become endless, Lord Vader. And then... We shall rule... As one, " the dark lord's maniacal laughter filled the air, his yellow Sith eyes screamed for the hunger of power. With that, the platform raised up, closing with the rest of the ship. It's engines whirred, flying off into the atmosphere, leaving Vader with nothing but himself, his thoughts, and a barren sand desert.

Vader watched the ship leave the planet, wishing his master would've stayed to guide him. But no, he would let the Dark Side take care of him. He looked around, taking in the view in front of him. The area was dry, canyons and cliffs scattered the land, tumbleweeds were being tossed around by the wind. He looked closer at the ground, seeing tracks of some sort of vehicle being pulled. It must've been what his Master was talking about.

He knelt down on the ground, looking at the tracks to see how far they would go. He saw they continued to the horizon, so he stood up, and began his journey on the path to the Dark Side.
