The Party (part 2)

"This drink, I like it." Thor smashed his cup onto the ground and shouted, "Another!"

"What the Mordor? Who invited this guy?" Merry and Pippin were hanging out with Legolas and Gimli. The four watched as Tony Stark and Steve Rogers came, grabbed Thor and dragged him away from the party.

"Are you serious Thor? You just randomly showed up at some random guy's party and start eating and drinking all the food?" Tony shook his head.

"You two never let me do anything!" Thor shouted as they left the party.

"Ok..." Pippin watched them leave.

"That was weird." Merry stated.

"Agreed." Legolas and Gimli said at once.

Pippin watched as some people began pairing up to dance he spotted Vili nearby. He nudged Merry.

"You should ask Vili to dance."

"NO! I am not asking her to dance."

"Who? Vili?" Gimli asked.

"Merry's crushing on her." Pippin told them.

"I am not!"

"Than why's your face turning red?"

"It's not!"

"If you don't ask her I will."

Merry's eyed widened.

"Don't! I'll ask her!"

Pippin gave him a shove.

"Then get going!"

Merry turned around and glared at him before walking towards Vili, who was talling with Primrose and Bilbo.

Merry paused when he got closer.

I can do this. You can do this Merry. Just, ask her to dance.

He took in a deep breath and walked the rest of the way over to her.

Bilbo smiled when he saw him.

"Hello Merry! Enjoying the party?"

"Uh... Yeah... It's going great."

Merry glanced at Vili who smiled.

Why does she have to be so pretty?!?!? I'm blowing it!!!

Merry turned around and saw Pippin, Gimli, and Legolas snickering. He shook his fist at them.

"Is there something you needed Merry?" Vili asked.

Oh great she's talking to me! Wait- this is perfect! Just tell her that you want to dance. Easy peasy.

Merry calmed himself. He took a deep breath and looked right into Vili's eyes.

"HeyViliwouldyouliketocomeanddancewithme?"

Pippin, Gimli, and Legolas burst out laughing. If course, Pippin and Gimli couldn't hear what he was saying but Legolas could and was telling them everything he had heard.

"Sure. I'd love to."

"Well, it was worth a try. I'll just go and- Wait what?"

"I'd like to dance with you."

Merry's mouth, as well as Pippin and the other two's, dropped open.

"R-really?"

"Sure. Why not? I'm sure you're a great dancer."

Vili took his hand and they walked over to where everyone else was dancing. As they passed Pippin, Gimli, and Legolas Merry stuck his toungue out at them.

"I don't believe it. Merry actually did it!" Pippin exclaimed.

"Now let's see if we can find Legolas a date." Gimli nudged the elf.

"I have no interest in finding a date Gimli."

"Really? No interest at all?" Pippin asked.

"I already have to suffer from fangirls! They are so annoying!"

"Come on Legolas. Surely not all of the Legolas Fangirls are annoying." Gimli said.

"I am talking about the ones who only watch Lord of the Rings because of me. The ones who do not bother reading the books or care about the story. They only want to see me."

"Isn't that a good thing?" Pippin asked. "I mean, it must be cool to have so many fans."

"Those kind of people are not fans. I would rather face a thousand orcs than three crazy fangirls."

"You're weird Legolas." Pippin said.

"I agree with ya lad." Gimli nodded his head in agreement.

"Say what you like. I do not care."

With that Legolas walked off to find some different company.

------------------------------------------------------

Melui walked silently and unnoticed through the crowd of hobbits. Everyone was having a great time.

As she was walking ahe accidently ran into someone.

"I'm sorry! I wasn't paying attention."

"It's alright. I'm not hurt."

Melui realised who it was she had just run into.

"Aragorn!"

"Melui, right?"

She nodded. "Yes."

"Of course. You're Legolas's sister. I find it strange that he never mentioned you before."

Melui rolled her eyes.

"Legolas doesn't mention a lot of things. He's more on the quiet side."

"And what about you?"

She smiled.

"I enjoy talking with people."

"Well then, would you mind if I talked with you for awhile?"

"I would enjoy that."

Aragorn smiled and they both began walking around the party.

"Are you enjoying yourself Melui?"

"I am. Hobbit parties are very different from elf parties. Especially the ones my father throws."

"I didn't know that Thranduil threw parties."

"Oh he throws them constantly! It was fun the first few times but now I just wish he could find something else to occupy himself with."

"It must be hard for him to find something to do. After all, Sauron is defeated and there are no more enemies in Middle Earth that we need to fear."

Melui tensed for a moment.

"Is something wrong Melui?"

"No. I'm fine."

They continued walking together. Talking about their people and how things were different after the downfall of Sauron.

Somehow they wandered away from the party and towards a small hill with a single tree growing. They stood under it and looked up at the night sky.

"The stars are beautiful tonight." Aragorn commented.

"Do you like the stars?" Melui asked.

Aragorn smiled as he looked up.

"I do. I look at them everynight."

"Me too."

Aragorn turned and faced her. His gaze made Melui's face turn red. She turned her gaze upward to the sky. The stars were beautiful. Hundreds of white gems scattered across the sky.

"Is there a reason why you enjoy the stars Melui?"

Melui thought about it.

"Ever since I can remember I've loved the stars. Anytime I was sad, or afraid, I would look up at them. I always lost myself when I looked at them. I would dream that I was in a whole other world."

"Why would you want to be in another world? Are you not happy with this one?" Aragorn asked.

Melui faced him and smiled sadly.

"There was a time in a my life where I wanted to be anywhere but here. But that was before..."

"Before what?"

"Before Sauron fell. And the darkness left. But sometimes, I like to think that there are other places out there. Beyond the stars, and beyond thought."

Melui blushed.

I sound ridiculous!

"I've never met anyone who thinks the way you do Melui. You're unique. You're not afraid to dream of the impossible."

She looked at him in surprise. He didn't think she was crazy? She was talking about places that existed beyond the stars. It was impossible! Crazy, almost stupid.

"When I was little, I used to wonder if there were other worlds too. Places beyond our thought or reach."

Aragorn looked up at the stars again. Melui watched him in silence.

"I've never met anyone like you before either. You are unlike any man I've ever met."

Aragorn smiled at her.

"And you are the most enchanting elleth I have ever met."

Melui blushed. She thanked the Valar that it was dark and Aragorn couldn't see her face turning red everytime he looked at her.

"Perhaps we should get back. We don't want anyone to worry."

Melui frowned slightly. She didn't want to go back. She didn't want this moment to end. But she just nodded and said, "Alright."

He took her hand in his and together they walked back to the party. Once they arrived Aragorn took Melui's hand and kissed it softly.

"Until we meet again, Melui."

Melui felt heat racing through her arm and spreading to the rest of her body.

Aragorn smiled and returned to the party. Leaving Melui lost in an emotion she had never felt before or understood.

------------------------------------------------------

Everything's ready.

She thought as she double checked her work.

Now I just have to wait for the right moment....

------------------------------------------------------

Alright here's my first major 'romance' scene. Let me know how I did on that because I have 0 experience writing romance. The final part of the party is coming in the next chapter!
